Advantages of using WCF to work with Sharepoint Services WSS3.0?

Hi folks, what is your opinion or better off your practical experience using WCF to work with WSS instead of SP web services? I am writing some custom library for our software to store and retrieve files from WSS document libraries using sharepoint web services. I am not entirely happy with the performance of the sp web services - a bit too slow in many cases. Now, microsoft claims a significant improvements in WCF over remoting and I am looking into a good way to use WCF for my file services. Any suggestions or ideas? Can I store and join based on external attributes in Lucene/Solr

Is there a way to store information about documents that are stored in Lucene such that I don't have to update the entire document to update certain attributes about the documents? For instance, let's say I had a bunch of documents, and that I wanted to update a permissions list of who was allowed to see the documents on a daily, or more frequent, basis. Would it be possible to update all the permissions each day, without updating all the documents. I could do it by keeping a exactly which permissions were added and removed, but I would rather just be able to take the end list of permissions, and use that, rather than have to keep track of all the permission changes and post those entire documents to Lucene.

However I need a way in code to check the extension of the file, and display the correct Image and xsl:attribute depending on the If statement. Paging a UIScrollView with a large PDF

I try to create a simple UIScrollView with paging. And I want to be able to scroll through a large PDF document, but this gives me some problems... I tried the following options: Convert all the PDF pages to UIImages at startup, this works, but is very slow on start Manually drawing the PDF page in the drawRect, but yet again this was slow... And I prefer not to load everything at startup but to do it during the usage. Did anyone did this recently? Can't seem to find a nice example project. Thnx! Jelle

Change the value of an existing onclick function

I have a page that is pulling in via an iframe a page of html content from a pre-existing content management system, whose content I can not directly change. I want to use jquery to alter some of the links and button locations dynamically. For links within the page I was able to change the href attr values of <a href="/content.asp">more</a> from content.asp to content2.asp using $("a[href^='/content.asp']") .each(function() { this.href = this.href.replace("content.asp", "content2.asp"); }); But the page pulled in also has form buttons that contains javascript onclick functions e.g. <INPUT type="button" value="Add to basket" onClick="document.location='/shopping-basket.asp?mode=add&id_Product=1076';"> I basically want to use jquery to select any such buttons and change the shopping-basket.asp to shopping-basket2.asp How can I select these buttons/onclick functions and change the location string?

Outlook AppointmentItem - How do I programmatically add RTF to its Body?

I would like to set the Body of an AppointmentItem to a string of RTF that contains an embedded image. Setting Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.AppointmentItem.Body results in the RTF appearing as-is in the appointment. I have tried using Redemption which wraps the appointment and exposes an RTFBody property, but the RTF formatting (including the image) is lost. In this example (which doesn't have an embedded image) the RTF appears in the document as-is. Better way of enforcing this template?

Currently, I have a function template like this that converts a vector into a string (just a natural string, separating the elements with a comma): //the type T must be passable into std::to_string template<typename T> std::string vec_to_str(const std::vector<T> &vec); As you can see, this is only meant for vectors whose elements can be passed into the built-in std::to_string function (such as int, double, etc.) Is it considered a good practice to document with comments the allowed T? If not, what should I do? Is it possible to enforce this in a better way?

I suggested the testing and functional teams to use Freemind map for jotting the functional flows and test steps. There was some paranoia but our module took it up and the QA teams were surprised to see near zero review comments. There was misconception among the team that there are doing more work. I assured them that by the time others would complete their work along with comment fixes, we would be going out for team lunchs and we did. The real returns came when the developers started refering to the created document in their discussions. So share your contribution(s).

I don't really know how but the get_canvas() works :) I'm using jQuery but likely not relevant

Programatticaly grabing text from a web page that is dynamically generated.

There is a website I am trying to pull information from in perl, however the section of the page I need is being generated using javascript so all you see in the source is <div id="results"></div> I need to somehow pull out the contents of that div and save it to a file using perl/proxies/whatever. e.g. the information I want to save would be document.getElementById('results').innerHTML; I am not sure if this is possible or if anyone had any ideas or a way to do this. I was using a lynx source dump for other pages but since I cant straight forward screen scrape this page I came here to ask about it!

Hi, I'm trying to create a virtual wiki but I already struggle with In your Class Editor, create a new class called "XWikiServerClass" Further reading in the DevGuide / DataModel shows that I'm not alone. I understand the words saying but I don't get the how-to as there is no option in the class-editior of creating new classes. Navigating to class editor shows an info box No class is defined in this wiki document. You can create one by adding properties from the panel on your right, or you can choose another class to edit from the list below. Ok, I added 'XWikiServerClass' and would have expected to be able to add a type class but that's not possible. I've tried a few properties but nothing shows up as a class in class editor.

Want to set 'src' of script to my IP.

I have a script that links to the server I am hosting (IP can change) usually I would just use for links: var url ='http://' + window.location.hostname + 'end of url'; But in this case it isnt appearing to be so easy. I have tried: (1) $('#scriptid').attr('src', url); as well as: (2) var script = document.createElement( 'script' ); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = url; $("#insert").append( script ); Now case (2) works loads the script runs the script. But when at the end of my script it hits the 'write data' it decides to replace the entire page with just the data. Any idea on how I can do this?

Active Index is not being persisted in jQuery accordion change event

I have an asp.net aspx page and on that page I have a hidden input field with and id of paneIndex. However, when I load the page, the alert shows index 1 which is correct on the first load, but if I open up pane 3 for example, the alert shows 1 still. Am I doing something wrong? Is it possible to use JavaScript to break the HTML of a page?

I've been asked at work whether it is possible to write, on purpose or by accident, JavaScript that will remove specific characters from a HTML document and thus break the HTML. An example would be adding some JavaScript that removes the < symbol in the page. I've tried searching online and I know JavaScript can replace strings, but my knowledge of the language is negligible. I've been asked to look into it as a way of hopefully addressing why a site I work on needs to have controls over who can add bespoke functionality to the page. I'm hoping it's not possible but would be grateful for the peace of mind!
