  • Letters seem to be rendered wrongly in Firefox

    So, when I'm browsing in firefox, some letters look grainy or glowing, does anyone know what might be causing this? It doesn't show on all website, only some. It almost looks like Firefox is trying to render different font colours on top of eachother and blends them in the process somehow.   • Ubuntu 12, limit the resolution to 640x480

    How can I set and limit the resolution in Ubuntu 12 to 640x480 There's not much in the xorg.conf file anymore, so I'm guessing this is no longer the place to do it? I can't do it using the GUI either because it doesn't show me the 640x480 option. While setting the resolution the computer is connected to a normal screen but later it will be connected to a screen that only supports 640x480 and doesn't report its supported modes to the computer. The only thing in my xorg.conf (by default) is this: Section "Device" Identifier "Default Device" Option "NoLogo" "True" EndSection

  • Windows 7: Notification area settings are lost on restart

    Recently noticed that my icons settings in notification area are getting reset on system restart. For example I specify Skype icon to always show icon and notification. After I restart Windows - it's hidden again. It's not just for one specific icon, it's for all of them. Checking box "Always shows icons and notifications" works, and all icons appear, but this is not an option. Please help. Thanks.

  • what does "crap" mean in samba logs

    Hi All, I have been googling and googling and can't find a conclusive answer. In log files for samba, I see things like the following: "[11560]: pam auth crap domain:" & "NTLM CRAP authentication for user" I'm hoping this stands for something like "Challenge Response Auth Protocol" or something, but when I show the logs to people that aren't technical, I usually get questions or looks.   • Remote desktop session not picking up the extra tray in my printer

    We have a Brother HL-5340D printer with an extra tray installed. The driver is configured locally and is working with the extra tray. However, when I connect into the server (which has the same driver installed), the server is not able to print to the other tray and the printing preferences do not actually show it either. Any ideas?

    I have a problem on conditional formatting with date and time. I hava a cell A1 that has date and time and I want to conditionally format its adjecent cell if the value of cell A1 is greater than 3 days compared to today, then cell A2 should show as "Follow-up Required" and cell colour should turn red no. if cell value of A1 is less than 3 days compared to today, no action is required.     Hi, I have a collection of .tif files but when I open them on my Mac 10.5 they show up as solid black and I don't know why. thanks Upon further inspection at really high brightness there are some out of focus objects viewable. It looks as if I am getting the first couple bits of each pixel but not the entire range of values.

  • Adding EXIF Lens data for manual lens (e.g "Lens Baby")

    I have a Lens Baby Composer, which is an entirely mechanical lens (no electronics in it), so the camera body cannot determine what lens is attached.. So obviously the metadata does not contain the lens info.. Is there any way to manually set this metadata, so the photos don't show up as "Unknown Lens"? It's a Canon 5D Mark II (so the native files are .cr2), and I convert them to DNG with Lightroom

  • How to confirm memcache memory increase?

    Alright, I have downloaded /etc/sysconfig/memcache And edited the file that contained "PORT="11211" USER="memcached" MAXCONN="1024" CACHESIZE="64" OPTIONS="" to 1000 cachesize. I uploaded the file back to the server. Now I know there is a way to check if the changes took effect, but I cant remember how. I tried "memcached-tool 127.0.0.1:11211 stats" but it didnt show me the RAM size. Any help would be appreciated.

I've tried the following : Create a custom list, add a field named "TestField" Create a personal view named "TestView", filter : Show when column "TestField" is equal to "" (leave the box empty) Create an alert, immediate email when items appearing in "TestView" are modified Create an item with both fields filled Create an item with only title filled Now you should receive two alert emails, but in the view "TestView" there is only one item.     In Aquamacs 2.0 preview 6, when opening new files externally (e.g., via Quicksilver or via dragging files on the Aquamacs icon) they always open in new frames (i.e., new windows). I would prefer new files to be opening in the same frame, just in a new buffer (possibly with tabs turned on). I already unchecked the option "Show Buffers in new Frames", but that only seems to affect the behavior of the built-in open command (Command-o). Are there any options for this or some other way to modify this behavior?

  • How do I remove the black statusbar on Vimperator for Firefox?

    I recently installed Vimperator and found it awesome, however not really fitting for my everyday tasks. So instead of disabling and enabling it each time, I decided to keep it enabled and show the Firefox toolbar. My only problem is that the black (or other colors depending on the security of the site) bar at the bottom breaks the persona induced eye-candy. Is there any way to permanently change the color of the bar, or hide it while I'm using Vimperator?

Part of it's use is to run a screensaver that itself shows useful information. There are some scheduled tasks which need to display information to the screen, however as the screensaver is running these messages can't be seen until the screensaver it manually deactivated. How can the currently running screensaver in Windows be deactivated from command script?

  • grouping two sites under domain and sub domain

    I have 2 websites a main website hosted at fasthosts and an e-commerce website hosted at Vidahost. I want to combine both websites under the same domain set. Main site would be www.mydomain.com Store site would be shop.mydomain.com I want to keep the directory path showing on the shop subdomain so what was previously www.mystore.com/product/hat would become shop.mydomain.com/product/hat How can I accomplish this, have already created the subdomain on fasthosts and setup web forwarding to the store but the directory paths do not show.
