  LS, I was planning on writing a wrapper around the System.Net.Sockets.Socket class, because I didn't feel like using the SSLStream class because I wanted to maintain backwards compatibility with other programs. I found an article which does exactly what I want, but on Windows Mobile. (Link: Enable SSL for managed socket on windows mobile) Quote: My first surprise was that SetSocketOption takes a SocketOptionName enum value as the second parameter, but this enum doesn’t have the equivalent of SO_SECURE. However, C# was nice enough to let me cast an arbitrary integer value to the enum I needed. I tried to do the same, but it doesn't work. • Will a VB6 App Using wiaaut.dll work on Windows Vista or 7?

  I downloaded the Windows Image Acquisition Automation Layer sdk redistributable from Windows and the VB6 app I wrote to capture still images from a DSLR, wia-compliant camera works great on Windows XP. Will the same app work on Windows Vista or 7? Microsoft says, "Windows Image Acquisition Automation Library v2.0 is only supported on Windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed.", but will the APIs work on newer OSs nonetheless? I really don't want to re-write the whole thing in C++ ... Is there any other option available to me if I want to keep using VB6 but want to support newer OSs?

  In a non-Silverlight world, it is easy to use LINQ to create an ObservableCollection. This is because the ObservableCollection class has constructors that accept any IEnumerable<T or List<T. However, the Silverlight version does not! This means that code such as: var list = (from item in e.Result select new ViewModel(item)).ToList(); Items = new System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection<ViewModel>(list); will not work in Silverlight. Is there another option to make this work besides resorting to a for-each statement?

• Units of measurement conversion logic in C#

  I am adding a feature to my program in which the user will have the ability to change their unit of measurement at any time, and have the program recalculate their input and output. If the user inputs say, 20lbs for an item, then decides he wants to work in kilograms instead, he can select an option to do so at any time, and the program will recalculate his 20lb input to 9Kg. Then if he decides he'd rather work in ounces, it would convert that 9Kg to 320oz, so on and so forth. What would be the most effective and efficient way to go about this? I've been racking my brain trying to figure out a way to have the correct formula be implemented.

• PHP - Alternatives to runkit for intercepting method calls

  I have some very test-unfriendly code (to say the least) that I need to test. Refactoring unfortunately is not an option. I have to test the code as it is, without the possibility of changing it. To do that, I was thinking of intercepting function calls and dynamically change what they do so I can run my tests, as I need some functions and methods to return known values, and I need others that make requests, connect to the database, etc, to stop doing that and return what I need them to return. Is there any way to do this without runkit_method_redefine(), which is preferably not "EXPERIMENTAL" and still maintained? Maybe an alternative to runkit? Maybe a better way? Edit: will use PHPUnit's test doubles and PHP 5.3.2's features for making private methods accessible, if I need that functionality.

• Base 36 to Base 10 conversion using SQL only.

  A situation has arisen where I need to perform a base 36 to base 10 conversion, in the context of a SQL statement. There doesn't appear to be anything built into Oracle 9, or Oracle 10 to address this sort of thing. My Google-Fu, and AskTom suggest creating a pl/sql function to deal with the task. That is not an option for me at this point. I am looking for suggestions on an approach to take that might help me solve this issue. To put this into a visual form...   Hello everyone, I am trying to get a tutorial or step by step instructions on how to connect MS Project 2010 to MS Project Server 2010. I have installed Server 2008 R2 (64 bit), Sharepoint 2010, and Project 2010 on my server and created a new site using the project 2010 template. I am now trying to connect my stand alone Project 2010 to that site for updates and such. I tried the File-Info-Manage accounts option and it comes up with "Could not retrieve server initialization data." I cannot find a step by step tutorial to set it up or to trouble shoot the error message. Any hints or good resources would be much appreciated.

• Axis/SOAP service styles and interoperability

  There are four "styles" of service in Axis. RPC services use the SOAP RPC conventions, and also the SOAP "section 5" encoding. Document services do not use any encoding (so in particular, you won't see multiref object serialization or SOAP-style arrays on the wire) but DO still do XML<-Java databinding. Wrapped services are just like document services, except that rather than binding the entire SOAP body into one big structure, they "unwrap" it into individual parameters. Message services receive and return arbitrary XML in the SOAP Envelope without any type mapping / data binding. If you want to work with the raw XML of the incoming and outgoing SOAP Envelopes, write a message service. So, if I use anything else except the first option(SOAP RPC Section 5), how does this impact interoperability? If someone says they want a SOAP service (including WSDL), does this mean that SOAP RPC conventions are expected? Can the other three styles still be used when the other end is not implemented with Axis?

  How can I allow selected rows in a DataGridView (DGV) to be moved up or down. I have done this before with a ListView. Unfortunetly, for me, replacing the DGV is not an option (curses). By the way, the DGV datasource is a Generic Collection. The DGV has two buttons on the side, yes, UP & Down. Can anyone help point me in the right direction. I do have the code that I used for the ListView if it'll help (it did not help me).

  I'm looking to start using javascript on the server, most likely with node.js, as well as use websockets to communicate with clients. However, there doesn't seem to be a lot of information about encrypted websocket communication using TLS and the wss:// handler. In fact the only server that I've seen explicitly support wss:// is Kaazing. This TODO is the only reference I've been able to find in the various node implementations. Am I missing something or are the websocket js servers not ready for encrypted communication yet? Another option could be using something like lighttpd or apache to proxy to a node listener, has anyone had success there?

  I have xbap which needs to run on a full trust mode because my application needs to upload a file from the client machine to process. I have to provide a installation steps to install. If i do it as a click one instillation, do i still get a security error? If so what is the best way to resolve it? If i install it in remote server, I saw couple of options in internet like creating certificates and ask user to import this certificate. Other option is to ask the user to allow access to xbap applications which provides access to all xbap applications (not so good). what is best way? It would be really great, if some could provide me the installation steps for both scenarios.

• Playing a .wav sound file in JPanel/JFrame using Java (Swing)

  I need some code example on how I would use a filepath from a harddrive location to then play a .wav sound file when opened in swing GUI. I don't need it to show a play button, or pause or stop. I just want it to play when I select the 'Sound' option from my 'Files' in my window (I know how to do that already, no need to explain that). So basically, just how to play a .wav sound file from a filepath (i.e. c:/cake/thereisnone.wav) inside of a JFrame. And how can I easily apply methods to that sound file afterwards. Also, if anyone knows how to apply methods on a BufferedImage in a JFrame, that would be helpful too. Thank you very much everyone!

• Merge FDF data into a PDF file using PHP

  Is it possible to merge FDF data with a PDF file using PHP alone? Or is there no option but to use a 3rd party command line tool to achieve this? If that is the case can someone point me in the direction of one? I am currently outputting the FDF file to the browser in the hope that it will redirect the user to the filled in PDF but for some people that is not the case. The FDF contents is being output to the screen, even though I am using header('Content-type: application/vnd.fdf');

We have implemented the logic for that and already two or more player are able to play the game simultaneously on single device. Now we want to upgrade our application so that two or more user can compete each other playing from different device and different locations. Can anyone please help me by providing me the way (or code) to achieve this (communicating two blackberry devices over the air to access single session programmaticaly)?   I'm looking for a fast, embeddable key/value store with cursor semantics over key collections (or a simple embeddable DB) that I can use in .NET and mono. Need it to be open-source, would prefer an MIT or Apache style license over a GPL license. Not opposed to a library that needs bindings to be written, as long as binaries are available for both windows and linux. Options considered: SQLite - has bindings and native implementation, but single-threaded and not all that fast Embedded InnoDB - no .NET bindings i can find and it's GPLv2 Berkley DB - no .NET bindings i can find Tokyo Cabinet - no .NET bindings i can find and problematic to build on windows MadCow Memory-mapped data structures - GPLv2 Is there an option better than the above that i'm missing, or bindings for the above i don't know about?

  How can I disable the local user account password complexity settings on Windows 2008 R2 "Server Core"? I am trying to migrate our windows 2003 web server to windows 2008 R2. I am trying to see if I can use the "Server Core" install, and it has been a very internet search intensive experience. What I can't find out how to do is to find out how to disable password complexity for local user accounts. While our user account generator currently creates nice strong passwords, there was a time when this was not the case and unfortunately forcing the users to change their password is not an option at this time. • Hitting the Done button does not dismiss the View of a MPMoviePlayerController on OS 4.0 beta

  Hi All Hope someone can help me on this, on the old OS version 3.0 and down , hitting the done button one playing a Video would automatically dismiss the view, but now since we have to control the view appearance, hitting the Done just stops the movie but does not dismiss the view, I tried to check if it was linked to any notification and found that each time the Done button was hit, MPMoviePlayerPlaybackStateDidChangeNotification is triggered the problem is that the same notification is received for any change of state pausing /playing... so dismissing the view when MPMoviePlayerPlaybackStateDidChangeNotification is triggered is not an option. does anyone have an answer for this problem Thx for your help

  How do you record an iPad screencast at full scale? I have an iMac with maximum resolution 1680x1050 and the simulator doesn't fit the screen in portrait orientation. It does fit in landscape orientation. Reducing the scale to 50% is not an option because the end result is too small. If the scale could be reduced slightly it would be fine, but not 50%. Is it possible to put the simulator in landscape orientation and still keep the app in portrait mode? Then I could simply rotate the resulting video to get a portrait screencast.

  Can I perform a Criteria query with Sub-Select AND Left-Outer join? For example, I have A 1-many B 1-many C. With Criteria.createAlias ("b", "b", Criteria.LEFT_JOIN) I can perform Left Outer join. With Criteria.setFetchMode ("b", org.hibernate.FetchMode.DEFAULT) I can perform Join with the default fetching strategy. I assume that having set @org.hibernate.annotations.FetchMode.SUBSELECT in both A.B and B.C is enough (is it?). Question 1: Why does org.hibernate.FetchMode not have SUBSELECT option, whereas the org.hibernate.annotations.FetchMode does? Question 2: Can I perform a Criteria query with Sub-Select AND Left-Outer join?
