  Hi, How can I determine whether xml serializer can serialize a file which is in a shared location and monitored by a file monitor. The file monitor has a list of parsers which are used to parse files in the shared folder. Once a file gets dropped into the folder, the file monitor will ask the registered parsers whether any of them can handle this file, if yes, the monitor will move the file out from the shared folder and assigns the task to the parser. Since some of the files are quite big, so I need to have a quick check on each parsers. How can I determine my xml parser can serialize the file without loading the full file into the memory?

• Linkedin: Registering Application for both Web and Mobile

  My project deals with both Web app and Mobile app. So before we can use Linkedin API's into our project we need to register our app with Linkedin according to this Quick Start. But for my situation where i use Linkedin API's for both web and mobile, Do i need to register two application with Linkedin. Or is there any other way to register a single application and use the same for both web and mobile? In the registration page i don't see any distinction for Web and Mobile, unlike facebook where a single application registered can be used for both web and mobile app. If anyone could point me to appropriate docs or pointers, it would be really helpful. How should you package the custom control? Package the control in a Merge Module (.msm) and add the .msm file to a Windows Installer project. Package the control into a cabinet project (.cab) and add the .cab file to a Windows Installer project. Create a separate directory for the control and then package it in a Windows Installer project along with the rest of the project files. Package the control as a Web setup project and create a link to that project from the Windows Installer project. Any ideas?

  I've a project that connects to a dBase format database file, that I've always done in the past with a connection string of the form of: PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=MyData.dbf;Extended Properties=dBASE 5.0 I've had to revisit this recently, and have found that when attempting to create an OleDbConnection with that connection string on x64 machines, that have an x86 install of Office on it, it throws an exception. A quick hack of a fix shows that forcing the application to target x86 only makes it work, but I was hoping to be able to tidy this up and check in advance whether it would fail to create the connection, so that I could customise my import options to suit the available providers. Is it possible to enumerate the available data providers for the current processor architecture? (other than relying on catching the exception -- after all, the Framework Design Guidelines suggest that you should only throw in exceptional circumstances, and you have a method to check if something would throw an exception)

  I have a Java Swing application client that I want to use to consume certain webservices, but I want to make it as painless as possible to code (because really all I want is the info). I do understand that whatever solution is used will need to stub the POJO's too. If you'd like to give a demo, that would be great, or if you can point to a tutorial that would also be really appreciated. I did look at Axis, including the more recent Axis2, but it's a bit more complex than I was hoping (aka. I have to learn something). At least just for some quick prototype testing and not real development, more for the sake of just saying I can, is there something or a tutorial out there?

  Hi all, I'm tasked with evaluating an "enterprise" platform for the next-gen version of a product. We're currently considering two "types" of platforms - RAD (workflow engine, integrated UI, small cores of "technology plugins" to the workflows, automatic persisting of state...) like SalesForce.com / Service-Now.com and "cloud based" (EC2 / AppEngine...). While I have a few ideas on where to start, I'd like your opinions - how would you evaluate platforms for an enterprise suite of products? What factors would you consider? How would you eliminate weak options quickly enough to be able to concentrate on the few strong ones? Also interesting is how would you compare enterprise RAD (proven technology, quick to develop - but tends to look "the same as the competition") to cloud-based technology (lots of "buzz", not that many competitors - easy to justify to management, but probably lacking (?) enterprise tools and experience). As said before - I have a few ideas, but would like to see some answers before I post mine so I wouldn't drive the discussion to a specific place. RB.

  I try to draw a class diagram using Vim. I fill the editor window with white-spaces. Type :match SpellBad /\s/ to highlight all the white-spaces. Ctrl+Q to select vertical white-spaces. Ctrl+I to insert Bar(|) and then Esc ........................... v+l +... + l to select horizontal white-spaces But I don't know how to change all selected horizontal white-spaces to underscore(_). I have to hit _ serval times. • Detect all depencies of an application

  Hi All, I am in the process of "detecting" (more like listing down) all of the dependencies of our application. Currently, I am using depends.exe (Dependency Walker) to detect all of the file dependencies. I was actually able to get pass all the error messages about missing files and dependencies. However, when launching the app, all I get is a crash without any messages at all. On a "working" configuration/system, I was able to launch this app successfully. Killing a certain service will produce the "crashing" behavior. This leads me to the conclusion that SOMETHING on this service is needed by the App and this service is a dependency. However, depends.exe will not be able to "detect" this dependency. My question is: Is there an application that can programmatically detect dependencies such as Database and Services? Thanks!

  Hello, now this is embarrassing. I'm writing quick script and I can't figure out why this statement don't work. if [ $(pidof -x test.sh | wc -w) -eq 1 ]; then echo Passed; fi I also tried using back-ticks instead of $() but it still wouldn't work. Can you see what is wrong with it? pidof -x test.sh | wc -w returns 1 if I run it inside of script, so I don't see any reason why basically if [ 1 -eq 1 ] wouldn't pass. Thanks a lot!

  Hello All, I need to create a process with integrity level high, so that it can do all the administrative tasks. But the created process should run in the current logged in desktop i.e. it should not run in session 0. By default only administrators will log on to the console. The service should launch the process, as service is running in session 0 and system account. Can it any how get the non restricted token and use it in CreateProcessAsUser, so that the process created does have integrity level of high or system. Is it possible? One more thing is i should get the non restricted token with out prompting for user name or password of the logged in user. Thanks

• PHP Session Id changes between pages

  Hi All, I have a problem where i am losing the PHP session between 2 pages. The session_start() is included in a file called session-inc.php into every page requiring a session to be set. This works for all pages on the site except one particular page, member-profile.php. When this page is visited a new session with a different id (same session name) is set and used instead. A few more details: Session name is set manually All pages are on the same server under the same domain name If i put an additional session_start() above the include('session-inc.php') in the member-profile.php file, the session is carried over correctly I have tried setting the session_cookie_domain and session.session_name in the .htaccess, this worked for this domain but it stopped the session being passed over to out payment domain We are running apache 2.2.6 with php 5.2.5 Putting the session_start() above the include('session-inc.php') in the member-profile.php file is the quick and dirty fix for this problem, but i am wondering if anybody know why this would be happening.   Hi ! I love doctests, it is the only testing framwork I use, because it is so quick to write, and because used with sphinx it makes such great documentations with almost no effort... However, I think that the doctests should still stay in the module, because you should be able to read them while reading the source code. So here comes my question : sphinx/doctests lovers, how do you organize your doctests, such as the code readability doesn't suffer ?

• Visual Studio 2008 Unresponsive When Opening JavaScript Files

  I'm starting a new ASP.NET project that I'm trying to use some jQuery with, but whenever I try to open .js file (blank or containing a few lines of javascript) in Visual Studio, it often hangs; showing the .js filename in a new tab, but the actual text editor window showing whatever was drawn to the screen before opening the .js file. Eventually, after closing and re-opening, it will open in the text editor, but the font is always something like 10pt Arial. Even after changing this in VS options, the next re-launch of Visual Studio yields the same results. Has anyone else experienced hang, unresponsiveness, wonkiness from Visual Studio with JavaScript files?

• Unexpected cross threading issue

  I'm trying to do something very simple in principal, but I keep getting a cross-threading exception which has me stumped because I'm not setting out to use multiple threads. I have a Windows Forms application. It launches another Windows Forms application (using the System.Diagnostics.Process class) , and catches the Exited event when that application is closed. My application event handler then tries to copy text from the clipboard to a control on the current displayed form. At this point a Cross-threading exception is thrown. I assume that the problem is that the event from the closing application is in another thread (I'm outside my comfort zone here, so bear with me), so the question boils down to "How do I prevent this exception?" I'm somewhat constrained into having to copy from the clipboard, but I could launch the other application a different way if that would solve the problem.

  I'm new to python but I caught on to the basics pretty quick and decided to start trying to make a program while I'm still learning, since I learn best by actually doing things. So I'm making a program in python that will add polynomials and I need to see if a character from the parser is numeric im using the isdigit() command. Instead of having to type isdigit() all the time in my code such as n.isdigit(), I want to assign it to a variable t = 'isdigit()' and then type n.t. This doesn't work, so is there an alternative to not typing the whole command?

  I have the following in my Config.groovy file: grails.config.locations = [ "classpath:env.groovy" ] Now, where exactly am I supposed to place "env.groovy" such that it is available on the CLASSPATH during grails run-app? The documentation here is sorely lacking. I am able to get it to work on the pure commandline by placing "env.groovy" in $APP_HOME/etc and then running: $ grails -classpath ./etc run-app This seems a little hackish, but I can live with it... However, I am unable to get any such configuration working when I launch run-app using the Grails eclipse plugin (STS): Unable to load specified config location classpath:env.groovy : class path resource [env.groovy] cannot be opened because it does not exist I've seen related posts here, here, here, and here but the answers have been unfulfilling. I am looking for a CLASSPATH-based solution that will work with 'run-app' in development mode (both commandline and from eclipse). I know how to set up the CLASSPATH for my deployment servlet container, so that is not an issue.

  Hi, I have downloaded gSOAP2.8 from sourceforge. I want to use it for writting a gsoap based server. I need to be able to invoke my C++ code from PHP UI. E.g. My php page would show something like: $res = a + b = ? [Submit] When submit button is clicked I want these parameters to be passed to my c++ function lets say compute_sum() ... and this function should be invoked with these parameters, and the results given back to my php page. I want to write this gsoap based c++ server. Can someone please help me with getting started with it? I need to know: 1] What kind of c++ code it should it be?   Hi, I have been using qcodo/qcubed for developing CMS based sites. I had been successful in developing and maintaining fairly complex sites using these frameworks. Things get done so quick and easy using qcubed that i never felt the need to look for another framework like zend, symfony .... I am wondering if you guys have tried or have been using them. I have not tried zend, symfony, kohana or other frameworks of discusson on reddit. What is your opinion, is qcubed as good as these frameworks? If not can you please suggest some of the features that you find useful in other frameworks and are missing from qcubed. thanks

I need to map the result sets for each procedure to a POCO object and need the column name and type for each column in the result set. Is there a quick way of accessing the information?
