    Write a program that processes a list of items purchased with a receipt List in itemlist.txt just items different numbers Prices in pricelist.txt have items and prices in them, different # Make file output file that has receipt Print message saying program ran- have not done If item not in pricelist, report error, count errors display at end Don't know how many items or prices Close file and clear because of running many these files many times This program wont write to the files like so the above is what i have to do #include<iostream>`enter code here` #include<fstream> #include<cstdlib> #include<iomanip> using namespace std; int main() { ifstream in_stream; // reads itemlist.txt ofstream out_stream1; // writes in items.txt ifstream in_stream2; // reads pricelist.txt ofstream out_stream3;// writes in plist.txt ifstream in_stream4;// read recipt.txt ofstream out_stream5;// write display.txt double price=' ',curr_total=0.0; int wrong=0; int itemnum=' '; char next; in_stream.open("ITEMLIST.txt", ios::in); // list of avaliable items out_stream1.open("listWititems.txt", ios::out); // list of avaliable items in_stream2.open("PRICELIST.txt", ios::in); out_stream3.open("listWitdollars.txt", ios::out); in_stream4.open("display.txt", ios::in); out_stream5.open("showitems.txt", ios::out); in_stream.setf(ios::fixed); while(!in_stream.eof()) { in_stream >> itemnum; cin.clear(); cin >> next; } out_stream1.setf(ios::fixed); while (!out_stream1.eof()) { out_stream1 << itemnum; cin.clear(); cin >> next; } in_stream2.setf(ios::fixed); in_stream2.setf(ios::showpoint); in_stream2.precision(2); while (!in_stream2.eof()) // reads file to end of file { while((price== (price*1.00)) && (itemnum == (itemnum*1))) { in_stream2 >> itemnum >> price; itemnum++; price++; curr_total= price++; in_stream2 >> curr_total; cin.clear(); // allows more reading cin >> next; return itemnum, price; } } out_stream3.setf(ios::fixed); out_stream3.setf(ios::showpoint); out_stream3.precision(2); while (!out_stream3.eof()) // reads file to end of file { while((price== (price*1.00)) && (itemnum == (itemnum*1))) { out_stream3 << itemnum << price; itemnum++; price++; curr_total= price++; out_stream3 << curr_total; cin.clear(); // allows more reading cin >> next; return itemnum, price; } } in_stream4.setf(ios::fixed); in_stream4.setf(ios::showpoint); in_stream4.precision(2); while (!in_stream4.eof()) { in_stream4 >> itemnum >> price >> curr_total; cin.clear(); cin >> next; } out_stream5.setf(ios::fixed); out_stream5.setf(ios::showpoint); out_stream5.precision(2); out_stream5 <<setw(5)<< " itemnum " <<setw(5)<<" price "<<setw(5)<<" curr_total " <<endl; // sends items and prices to receipt.txt out_stream5 << setw(5) << itemnum << setw(5) <<price << setw(5)<< curr_total; // sends items and prices to receipt.txt out_stream5 << " You have a total of " << wrong++ << " errors " << endl; in_stream.close(); // closing files. out_stream1.close(); in_stream2.close(); out_stream3.close(); in_stream4.close(); out_stream5.close(); system("pause"); }

  • How to count each digit in a range of integers?

    - by Carlos Gutiérrez
    Imagine you sell those metallic digits used to number houses, locker doors, hotel rooms, etc. You need to find how many of each digit to ship when your customer needs to number doors/houses: 1 to 100 51 to 300 1 to 2,000 with zeros to the left The obvious solution is to do a loop from the first to the last number, convert the counter to a string with or without zeros to the left, extract each digit and use it as an index to increment an array of 10 integers. I wonder if there is a better way to solve this, without having to loop through the entire integers range. Solutions in any language or pseudocode are welcome. Edit: Answers review John at CashCommons and Wayne Conrad comment that my current approach is good and fast enough. Let me use a silly analogy: If you were given the task of counting the squares in a chess board in less than 1 minute, you could finish the task by counting the squares one by one, but a better solution is to count the sides and do a multiplication, because you later may be asked to count the tiles in a building. Alex Reisner points to a very interesting mathematical law that, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to be relevant to this problem. Andres suggests the same algorithm I’m using, but extracting digits with %10 operations instead of substrings. John at CashCommons and phord propose pre-calculating the digits required and storing them in a lookup table or, for raw speed, an array. This could be a good solution if we had an absolute, unmovable, set in stone, maximum integer value. I’ve never seen one of those. High-Performance Mark and strainer computed the needed digits for various ranges. The result for one millon seems to indicate there is a proportion, but the results for other number show different proportions. strainer found some formulas that may be used to count digit for number which are a power of ten. Robert Harvey had a very interesting experience posting the question at MathOverflow. One of the math guys wrote a solution using mathematical notation. Aaronaught developed and tested a solution using mathematics. After posting it he reviewed the formulas originated from Math Overflow and found a flaw in it (point to Stackoverflow :). noahlavine developed an algorithm and presented it in pseudocode. A new solution After reading all the answers, and doing some experiments, I found that for a range of integer from 1 to 10n-1: For digits 1 to 9, n*10(n-1) pieces are needed For digit 0, if not using leading zeros, n*10n-1 - ((10n-1) / 9) are needed For digit 0, if using leading zeros, n*10n-1 - n are needed The first formula was found by strainer (and probably by others), and I found the other two by trial and error (but they may be included in other answers). For example, if n = 6, range is 1 to 999,999: For digits 1 to 9 we need 6*105 = 600,000 of each one For digit 0, without leading zeros, we need 6*105 – (106-1)/9 = 600,000 - 111,111 = 488,889 For digit 0, with leading zeros, we need 6*105 – 6 = 599,994 These numbers can be checked using High-Performance Mark results. Using these formulas, I improved the original algorithm. It still loops from the first to the last number in the range of integers, but, if it finds a number which is a power of ten, it uses the formulas to add to the digits count the quantity for a full range of 1 to 9 or 1 to 99 or 1 to 999 etc. Here's the algorithm in pseudocode: integer First,Last //First and last number in the range integer Number //Current number in the loop integer Power //Power is the n in 10^n in the formulas integer Nines //Nines is the resut of 10^n - 1, 10^5 - 1 = 99999 integer Prefix //First digits in a number. For 14,200, prefix is 142 array 0..9 Digits //Will hold the count for all the digits FOR Number = First TO Last CALL TallyDigitsForOneNumber WITH Number,1 //Tally the count of each digit //in the number, increment by 1 //Start of optimization. Comments are for Number = 1,000 and Last = 8,000. Power = Zeros at the end of number //For 1,000, Power = 3 IF Power 0 //The number ends in 0 00 000 etc Nines = 10^Power-1 //Nines = 10^3 - 1 = 1000 - 1 = 999 IF Number+Nines <= Last //If 1,000+999 < 8,000, add a full set Digits[0-9] += Power*10^(Power-1) //Add 3*10^(3-1) = 300 to digits 0 to 9 Digits[0] -= -Power //Adjust digit 0 (leading zeros formula) Prefix = First digits of Number //For 1000, prefix is 1 CALL TallyDigitsForOneNumber WITH Prefix,Nines //Tally the count of each //digit in prefix, //increment by 999 Number += Nines //Increment the loop counter 999 cycles ENDIF ENDIF //End of optimization ENDFOR SUBROUTINE TallyDigitsForOneNumber PARAMS Number,Count REPEAT Digits [ Number % 10 ] += Count Number = Number / 10 UNTIL Number = 0 For example, for range 786 to 3,021, the counter will be incremented: By 1 from 786 to 790 (5 cycles) By 9 from 790 to 799 (1 cycle) By 1 from 799 to 800 By 99 from 800 to 899 By 1 from 899 to 900 By 99 from 900 to 999 By 1 from 999 to 1000 By 999 from 1000 to 1999 By 1 from 1999 to 2000 By 999 from 2000 to 2999 By 1 from 2999 to 3000 By 1 from 3000 to 3010 (10 cycles) By 9 from 3010 to 3019 (1 cycle) By 1 from 3019 to 3021 (2 cycles) Total: 28 cycles Without optimization: 2,235 cycles Note that this algorithm solves the problem without leading zeros. To use it with leading zeros, I used a hack: If range 700 to 1,000 with leading zeros is needed, use the algorithm for 10,700 to 11,000 and then substract 1,000 - 700 = 300 from the count of digit 1. Benchmark and Source code I tested the original approach, the same approach using %10 and the new solution for some large ranges, with these results: Original 104.78 seconds With %10 83.66 With Powers of Ten 0.07 A screenshot of the benchmark application: If you would like to see the full source code or run the benchmark, use these links: Complete Source code (in Clarion): http://sca.mx/ftp/countdigits.txt Compilable project and win32 exe: http://sca.mx/ftp/countdigits.zip Accepted answer noahlavine solution may be correct, but l just couldn’t follow the pseudo code, I think there are some details missing or not completely explained. Aaronaught solution seems to be correct, but the code is just too complex for my taste. I accepted strainer’s answer, because his line of thought guided me to develop this new solution.

  • MediaRecorder prepare() causes segfault

    - by dwilde1
    Folks, I have a situation where my MediaRecorder instance causes a segfault. I'm working with a HTC Hero, Android 1.5+APIs. I've tried all variations, including 3gpp and H.263 and reducing the video resolution to 320x240. What am I missing? The state machine causes 4 MediaPlayer beeps and then turns on the video camera. Here's the pertinent source: UPDATE: ADDING SURFACE CREATE INFO I have rebooted the device based on previous answer to similar question. UPDATE 2: I seem to be following the MediaRecorder state machine perfectly, and if I trap out the MR code, the blank surface displays perfectly and everything else functions perfectly. I can record videos manually and play back via MediaPlayer in my code, so there should be nothing wrong with the underlying code. I've copied sample code on the surface and surfaceHolder code. I've looked at the MR instance in the Debug perspective in Eclipse and see that all (known) variables seem to be instantiated correctly. The setter calls are all now implemented in the exaxct order specced in the state diagram. UPDATE 3: I've tried all permission combinations: CAMERA + RECORD_AUDIO+RECORD_VIDEO, CAMERA only, RECORD_AUDIO+RECORD_VIDEO This is driving me bats! :))) // in activity class definition protected MediaPlayer mPlayer; protected MediaRecorder mRecorder; protected boolean inCapture = false; protected int phaseCapture = 0; protected int durCapturePhase = INF; protected SurfaceView surface; protected SurfaceHolder surfaceHolder; // in onCreate() // panelPreview is an empty LinearLayout surface = new SurfaceView(getApplicationContext()); surfaceHolder = surface.getHolder(); surfaceHolder.setType(SurfaceHolder.SURFACE_TYPE_PUSH_BUFFERS); panelPreview.addView(surface); // in timer handler runnable if (mRecorder == null) mRecorder = new MediaRecorder(); mRecorder.setAudioSource(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC); mRecorder.setVideoSource(MediaRecorder.VideoSource.CAMERA); mRecorder.setOutputFormat(MediaRecorder.OutputFormat.THREE_GPP); mRecorder.setAudioEncoder(MediaRecorder.AudioEncoder.AMR_NB); mRecorder.setOutputFile(path + "/" + vlip); mRecorder.setVideoSize(320, 240); mRecorder.setVideoFrameRate(15); mRecorder.setPreviewDisplay(surfaceHolder.getSurface()); panelPreview.setVisibility(LinearLayout.VISIBLE); mRecorder.prepare(); mRecorder.start(); Here is a complete log trace for the process run and crash: I/ActivityManager( 80): Start proc com.ejf.convince.jenplus for activity com.ejf.convince.jenplus/.JenPLUS: pid=17738 uid=10075 gids={1006, 3003} I/jdwp (17738): received file descriptor 10 from ADB W/System.err(17738): Can't dispatch DDM chunk 46454154: no handler defined W/System.err(17738): Can't dispatch DDM chunk 4d505251: no handler defined I/WindowManager( 80): Screen status=true, current orientation=-1, SensorEnabled=false I/WindowManager( 80): needSensorRunningLp, mCurrentAppOrientation =-1 I/WindowManager( 80): Enabling listeners W/ActivityThread(17738): Application com.ejf.convince.jenplus is waiting for the debugger on port 8100... • springTestContextBeforeTestMethod failed in Maven spring-test

    - by joejax
    I try to setup a project with spring-test using TestNg in Maven. The code is like: @ContextConfiguration(locations={"test-context.xml"}) public class AppTest extends AbstractTestNGSpringContextTests { @Test public void testApp() { assert true; } } A test-context.xml simply defined a bean: <bean id="app" class="org.sonatype.mavenbook.simple.App"/> I got error for Failed to load ApplicationContext when running mvn test from command line, seems it cannot find the test-context.xml file; however, I can get it run correctly inside Eclipse (with TestNg plugin). So, test-context.xml is under src/test/resources/, how do I indicate this in the pom.xml so that 'mvn test' command will work? Thanks, UPDATE: Thanks for the reply. Cannot load context file error was caused by I moved the file arround in different location since I though the classpath was the problem. Now I found the context file seems loaded from the Maven output, but the test is failed: Running TestSuite May 25, 2010 9:55:13 AM org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionReader loadBeanDefinitions INFO: Loading XML bean definitions from class path resource [test-context.xml] May 25, 2010 9:55:13 AM org.springframework.context.support.AbstractApplicationContext prepareRefresh INFO: Refreshing org.springframework.context.support.GenericApplicationContext@171bbc9: display name [org.springframework.context.support.GenericApplicationContext@171bbc9]; startup date [Tue May 25 09:55:13 PDT 2010]; root of context hierarchy May 25, 2010 9:55:13 AM org.springframework.context.support.AbstractApplicationContext obtainFreshBeanFactory INFO: Bean factory for application context [org.springframework.context.support.GenericApplicationContext@171bbc9]: org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory@1df8b99 May 25, 2010 9:55:13 AM org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory preInstantiateSingletons INFO: Pre-instantiating singletons in org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory@1df8b99: defining beans [app,org.springframework.context.annotation.internalCommonAnnotationProcessor,org.springframework.context.annotation.internalAutowiredAnnotationProcessor,org.springframework.context.annotation.internalRequiredAnnotationProcessor]; root of factory hierarchy Tests run: 3, Failures: 2, Errors: 0, Skipped: 1, Time elapsed: 0.63 sec <<< FAILURE! UPDATE: I think I got the problem (still don't know why) - Whenever I extends AbstractTestNGSpringContextTests or AbstractTransactionalTestNGSpringContextTests, the test will failed with this error: Failed tests: springTestContextBeforeTestMethod(org.sonatype.mavenbook.simple.AppTest) springTestContextAfterTestMethod(org.sonatype.mavenbook.simple.AppTest) So, eventually the error went away when I override the two methods. I don't think this is the right way, didn't find much info from spring-test doc. If you know spring test framework, please shred some light on this.

  • Android programming - How to acces [to draw on] XML view in main.xml layout, using code

    - by user556248
    Ok I'm a newbie at Android programming, have a hard time with the graphics part. Understand the beauty of creating layout in XML file, but lost how to access various elements, especially a View element to draw on it. See example of my layout main.xml here; <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/root" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/Title" android:text="App title" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textColor="#000000" android:background="#A0A0FF"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/PaperLayout" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="0dp" android:layout_weight="1" android:orientation="horizontal" android:focusable="true"> <View android:id="@+id/Paper" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/File" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="34dp" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:clickable="true" android:textSize="10sp" android:text="File" /> <Button android:id="@+id/Edit" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="34dp" android:clickable="true" android:textSize="10sp" android:text="Edit" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> As you can see I have a custom app title bar, then a View filling middle, and finally two buttons in bottom. Catching button events and responding to, for example changing title bar text and changing View background color works fine, but how the heck do I access and more importantly draw on the view defined in main.xml UPDATE: That for your suggestion, however besides that I need a View, not ImageView and you are missing a parameter on canvas.drawText and an ending bracket, it does not work. Now this is most likely because you missed the fact that I am a newbie and assuming I can fill in any blanks. Now first of all I do NOT understand why in my main.xml layout file I can create a View or even a SurfaceView element, which is what I need, but according to your solution I don't even specify the View like Anyways I edited my main.xml according to your solution, and slimmed it down a bit for simplicity; <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/root" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/Title" android:text="App title" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textColor="#000000" android:background="#A0A0FF"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/PaperLayout" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="0dp" android:layout_weight="1" android:orientation="horizontal" android:focusable="true"> <com.example.MyApp.CustomView android:id="@+id/Paper" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <com.example.colorbook.CustomView/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/File" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="34dp" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:clickable="true" android:textSize="10sp" android:text="File" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> In my main java file, MyApp.java, I added this after OnCreate; public class CustomView extends ImageView { @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { super.onDraw(canvas); canvas.drawText("Your Text", 1, 1, null); } } But I get error on the "CustomView" part; "Implicit super constructor ImageView() is undefined for default constructor.Must define an explicit constructor" Eclipse suggests 3 quick fixes about adding constructor, but none helps, well it removes error but gives error on app when running. I hope somebody can break this down for me and provide a solution, and perhaps explain why I can't just create a View element in my main.xml layotu file and draw on it in code.

  • luntbuild + maven + findbugs = OutOfMemoryException

    - by Johannes
    Hi, I've been trying to get Luntbuild to generate and publish a project site for our project including a Findbugs report. All other reports (Cobertura, Surefire, JavaDoc, Dashboard) work fine, but Findbugs bails out with an OutOfMemoryException. Excluding findbugs from report generation fixes the build --- although obviously without a Findbugs report. The funny thing is that I first encountered this problem locally and solved it by setting MAVEN_OPTS=-Xmx512m. This does not seem to be enough in Luntbuild, however: setting that exact same option as an environment variable of my builder doesn't make a difference. I've found a couple of posts on the 'net stating you should also add -XX:MaxPermSize=512m to MAVEN_OPTS and/or pass -Dmaven.findbugs.jvmargs=-Xmx512m to mvn.bat. None of these (or their combination) seem to help though so any hints would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Johannes Relevant information: Luntbuild is 1.5.6, Maven is 2.1.0, findbugs-maven-plugin is 2.0.1. • Help with force close occurrences in my app

    - by Ken
    This is the last issue with this app. Periodic force close situations. I think something should be on another thread but I'm not sure what. Anyway, I can always count on a freeze on first install. If I wait, eventually (maybe 10 seconds) the app comes around, maybe more. here is an excerpt from logcat--the three lines occur after full layout is displayed and I attempt to touch a [game] 'peg' which should spawn a sprite, but the freeze occurs there. • Starting to make progress Was [MediaRecorder prepare() causes segfault]

:))) UPDATE 4: starting to work... but with puzzling results. Based on info in bug #5050, I spaced everything out. I have now gotten the recorder to actually save a snippet of video (a whole 2160 bytes!), and I did it by spacing the view visibility, prepare() and start() w.a.a.a.a.a.y out (like several hundred milliseconds for each step). I think what happens is that either bringing the surface VISIBLE has delayed processing or else the start() steps on the prepare() operation before it is complete. What is now happening, however, is that my simple timer tickdown counter is getting clobbered. Is it now that the preview and save operations are causing my main process thread to become unavailable? I'm recording only 10fps at 176x144. Referencing the above code, I've added a timer tickdown after setPreviewDisplay(), prepare() and start(). As I say, it now functions to some degree, but the results still have anomalies. // in activity class definition protected MediaPlayer mPlayer; protected MediaRecorder mRecorder; protected boolean inCapture = false; protected int phaseCapture = 0; protected int durCapturePhase = INF; protected SurfaceView surface; protected SurfaceHolder surfaceHolder; // in onCreate() // panelPreview is an empty LinearLayout surface = new SurfaceView(getApplicationContext()); surfaceHolder = surface.getHolder(); surfaceHolder.setType(SurfaceHolder.SURFACE_TYPE_PUSH_BUFFERS); panelPreview.addView(surface); // in timer handler runnable if (mRecorder == null) mRecorder = new MediaRecorder(); mRecorder.setAudioSource(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC); mRecorder.setVideoSource(MediaRecorder.VideoSource.CAMERA); mRecorder.setOutputFormat(MediaRecorder.OutputFormat.THREE_GPP); mRecorder.setAudioEncoder(MediaRecorder.AudioEncoder.AMR_NB); mRecorder.setOutputFile(path + "/" + vlip); mRecorder.setVideoSize(320, 240); mRecorder.setVideoFrameRate(15); mRecorder.setPreviewDisplay(surfaceHolder.getSurface()); panelPreview.setVisibility(LinearLayout.VISIBLE); mRecorder.prepare(); mRecorder.start(); Here is a complete log trace for the process run and crash: I/ActivityManager( 80): Start proc com.ejf.convince.jenplus for activity com.ejf.convince.jenplus/.JenPLUS: pid=17738 uid=10075 gids={1006, 3003} I/jdwp (17738): received file descriptor 10 from ADB W/System.err(17738): Can't dispatch DDM chunk 46454154: no handler defined W/System.err(17738): Can't dispatch DDM chunk 4d505251: no handler defined I/WindowManager( 80): Screen status=true, current orientation=-1, SensorEnabled=false I/WindowManager( 80): needSensorRunningLp, mCurrentAppOrientation =-1 I/WindowManager( 80): Enabling listeners W/ActivityThread(17738): Application com.ejf.convince.jenplus is waiting for the debugger on port 8100... • What is causing a Hibernate SQL query exception?

    - by Dark Star1
    Hi all and sorry in advance for this post but I've spent way too much time going around in circles so I'm hoping someone could shed a light on it here for me. I updated a webapp on Tomcat and I'm getting the following error which didn't exist on the previous version. Though I am quite confident that the part of code I modifed isn't to blame as I have tested the app on two different dev servers. The production server is configured thus: CentOS 5.4 virtual server with tomcat 5.5.23 running mysql 5.0.77. The two dev servers are: Windows XP SP2 running tomcat 5.5.23 with mysql 5.1.49 Mac OSX 10.6.6 Running tomcat 6 with mysql 5.1.51 The application was developed using struts (1.1 as far as I can gather) with hibernate 3 as the peristence layer. It only fails on the production server for some reason I can't fathom. I'd like to draw your attention to the java.sql.SQLException near the bottom. After some long searching I found this but because it was posted years ago (about 1 year before development started on this app I'm sure Hibernate has evolved from that version. as I can't find a way of implementing his solution. I use Eclipse Helios as an IDE. Thanks in advance for taking your time to read this, to all who manage to reply. javax.servlet.ServletException: org.hibernate.exception.SQLGrammarException: could not execute query at • HttpPost works in Java project, not in Android

    - by dave.c
    I've written some code for my Android device to login to a web site over https and parse some data out of the resulting pages. An HttpGet happens first to get some info needed for login, then an HttpPost to do the actual login process. The code below works great in a Java project within Eclipse which has the following Jar files on the build path: httpcore-4.1-beta2.jar, httpclient-4.1-alpha2.jar, httpmime-4.1-alpha2.jar, commons-logging-1.1.1.jar. public static MyBean gatherData(String username, String password) { MyBean myBean = new MyBean(); try { HttpResponse response = doHttpGet(URL_PAGE_LOGIN, null, null); System.out.println("Got login page"); String content = EntityUtils.toString(response.getEntity()); String token = ContentParser.getToken(content); String cookie = getCookie(response); System.out.println("Performing login"); System.out.println("token = "+token +" || cookie = "+cookie); response = doLoginPost(username,password,cookie, token); int respCode = response.getStatusLine().getStatusCode(); if (respCode != 302) { System.out.println("ERROR: not a 302 redirect!: code is \""+ respCode+"\""); if (respCode == 200) { System.out.println(getHeaders(response)); System.out.println(EntityUtils.toString(response.getEntity()).substring(0, 500)); } } else { System.out.println("Logged in OK, loading account home"); // redirect handler and rest of parse removed } }catch (Exception e) { System.out.println("ERROR in gatherdata: "+e.toString()); e.printStackTrace(); } return myBean; } private static HttpResponse doHttpGet(String url, String cookie, String referrer) { try { HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); client.getParams().setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.PROTOCOL_VERSION, HttpVersion.HTTP_1_1); client.getParams().setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.HTTP_CONTENT_CHARSET, "UTF-8"); HttpGet httpGet = new HttpGet(url); httpGet.getParams().setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.PROTOCOL_VERSION, HttpVersion.HTTP_1_1); httpGet.setHeader(HEADER_USER_AGENT,HEADER_USER_AGENT_VALUE); if (referrer != null && !referrer.equals("")) httpGet.setHeader(HEADER_REFERER,referrer); if (cookie != null && !cookie.equals("")) httpGet.setHeader(HEADER_COOKIE,cookie); return client.execute(httpGet); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); throw new ConnectException("Failed to read content from response"); } } private static HttpResponse doLoginPost(String username, String password, String cookie, String token) throws ClientProtocolException, IOException { try { HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); client.getParams().setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.PROTOCOL_VERSION, HttpVersion.HTTP_1_1); client.getParams().setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.HTTP_CONTENT_CHARSET, "UTF-8"); HttpPost post = new HttpPost(URL_LOGIN_SUBMIT); post.getParams().setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.PROTOCOL_VERSION, HttpVersion.HTTP_1_1); post.setHeader(HEADER_USER_AGENT,HEADER_USER_AGENT_VALUE); post.setHeader(HEADER_REFERER, URL_PAGE_LOGIN); post.setHeader(HEADER_COOKIE, cookie); post.setHeader("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); List<NameValuePair> formParams = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); formParams.add(new BasicNameValuePair("org.apache.struts.taglib.html.TOKEN", token)); formParams.add(new BasicNameValuePair("showLogin", "true")); formParams.add(new BasicNameValuePair("upgrade", "")); formParams.add(new BasicNameValuePair("username", username)); formParams.add(new BasicNameValuePair("password", password)); formParams.add(new BasicNameValuePair("submit", "Secure+Log+in")); UrlEncodedFormEntity entity = new UrlEncodedFormEntity(formParams,HTTP.UTF_8); post.setEntity(entity); return client.execute(post); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); throw new ConnectException("ERROR in doLoginPost(): "+e.getMessage()); } } The server (which is not under my control) returns a 302 redirect when the login was successful, and 200 if it fails and re-loads the login page. When run with the above Jar files I get the 302 redirect, however if I run the exact same code from an Android project with the 1.6 Android Jar file on the build path I get the 200 response from the server. I get the same 200 response when running the code on my 2.2 device. My android application has internet permissions, and the HttpGet works fine. I'm assuming that the problem lies in the fact that HttpPost (or some other class) is different in some significant way between the Android Jar version and the newer Apache versions. I've tried adding the Apache libraries to the build path of the Android project, but due to the duplicate classes I get messages like: INFO/dalvikvm(390): DexOpt: not resolving ambiguous class 'Lorg/apache/http/impl/client/DefaultHttpClient;' in the log. I've also tried using a MultipartEntity instead of the UrlEncodedFormEntity but I get the same 200 result. So, I have a few questions: - Can I force the code running under android to use the newer Apache libraries in preference to the Android versions? - If not, does anyone have any ideas how can I alter my code so that it works with the Android Jar? - Are there any other, totally different approaches to doing an HttpPost in Android? - Any other ideas? I've read a lot of posts and code but I'm not getting anywhere. I've been stuck on this for a couple of days and I'm at a loss how to get the thing to work, so I'll try anything at this point. Thanks in advance.

This is my first post on stackoverflow, so please don't flame me too hard if I come across like a total nitwit or if I'm unable ot make myself perfectly clear. :-) Here's my problem: I'm trying to write a javascript function that "ties" two functions to another by checking the first one's completion and then executing the second one. The easy solution to this obviously would be to write a meta function that calls both functions within it's scope. However, if the first function is asynchronous (specifically an AJAX call) and the second function requires the first one's result data, that simply won't work. My idea for a solution was to give the first function a "flag", i.e. making it create a public property "this.trigger" (initialized as "0", set to "1" upon completion) once it is called; doing that should make it possible for another function to check the flag for its value ([0,1]). If the condition is met ("trigger == 1") the second function should get called. The following is an abstract example code that I have used for testing: <script type="text/javascript" > /**/function cllFnc(tgt) { //!! first function this.trigger = 0 ; var trigger = this.trigger ; var _tgt = document.getElementById(tgt) ; //!! changes the color of the target div to signalize the function's execution _tgt.style.background = '#66f' ; alert('Calling! ...') ; setTimeout(function() { //!! in place of an AJAX call, duration 5000ms trigger = 1 ; },5000) ; } /**/function rcvFnc(tgt) { //!! second function that should get called upon the first function's completion var _tgt = document.getElementById(tgt) ; //!! changes color of the target div to signalize the function's execution _tgt.style.background = '#f63' ; alert('... Someone picked up!') ; } /**/function callCheck(obj) { //alert(obj.trigger ) ; //!! correctly returns initial "0" if(obj.trigger == 1) { //!! here's the problem: trigger never receives change from function on success and thus function two never fires alert('trigger is one') ; return true ; } else if(obj.trigger == 0) { return false ; } } /**/function tieExc(fncA,fncB,prms) { if(fncA == 'cllFnc') { var objA = new cllFnc(prms) ; alert(typeof objA + '\n' + objA.trigger) ; //!! returns expected values "object" and "0" } //room for more case definitions var myItv = window.setInterval(function() { document.getElementById(prms).innerHTML = new Date() ; //!! displays date in target div to signalize the interval increments var myCallCheck = new callCheck(objA) ; if( myCallCheck == true ) { if(fncB == 'rcvFnc') { var objB = new rcvFnc(prms) ; } //room for more case definitions window.clearInterval(myItv) ; } else if( myCallCheck == false ) { return ; } },500) ; } </script> The HTML part for testing: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd > <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" > <!-- see above --> </script> <title> Test page </title> </head> <body> <!-- !! testing area --> <div id='target' style='float:left ; height:6em ; width:8em ; padding:0.1em 0 0 0; font-size:5em ; text-align:center ; font-weight:bold ; color:#eee ; background:#fff;border:0.1em solid #555 ; -webkit-border-radius:0.5em ;' > Test Div </div> <div style="float:left;" > <input type="button" value="tie calls" onmousedown="tieExc('cllFnc','rcvFnc','target') ;" /> </div> <body> </html> I'm pretty sure that this is some issue with javascript scope as I have checked whether the trigger gets set to "1" correctly and it does. Very likely the "checkCall()" function does not receive the updated object but instead only checks its old instance which obviously never flags completion by setting "this.trigger" to "1". If so I don't know how to address that issue. Anyway, hope someone has an idea or experience with this particular kind of problem. Thanks for reading! FK

  • web service not working on GlassFish

  • Programs won't write to a file, and I do not know if it is reading it

    - by user320950
    This program is supposed to read files and write them. I took the file open checks out because they kept causing errors. The problem is that the files open like they are supposed to and the names are correct but nothing is on any of the text screens. Do you know what is wrong? #include<iostream> #include<fstream> #include<cstdlib> #include<iomanip> using namespace std; int main() { ifstream in_stream; // reads itemlist.txt ofstream out_stream1; // writes in items.txt ifstream in_stream2; // reads pricelist.txt ofstream out_stream3;// writes in plist.txt ifstream in_stream4;// read recipt.txt ofstream out_stream5;// write display.txt float price=' ',curr_total=0.0; int itemnum=' ', wrong=0; char next; in_stream.open("ITEMLIST.txt", ios::in); // list of avaliable items out_stream1.open("listWititems.txt", ios::out); // list of avaliable items in_stream2.open("PRICELIST.txt", ios::in); out_stream3.open("listWitdollars.txt", ios::out); in_stream4.open("display.txt", ios::in); out_stream5.open("showitems.txt", ios::out); in_stream.close(); // closing files. out_stream1.close(); in_stream2.close(); out_stream3.close(); in_stream4.close(); out_stream5.close(); system("pause"); in_stream.setf(ios::fixed); while(in_stream.eof()) { in_stream >> itemnum; cin.clear(); cin >> next; } out_stream1.setf(ios::fixed); while (out_stream1.eof()) { out_stream1 << itemnum; cin.clear(); cin >> next; } in_stream2.setf(ios::fixed); in_stream2.setf(ios::showpoint); in_stream2.precision(2); while((price== (price*1.00)) && (itemnum == (itemnum*1))) { while (in_stream2 >> itemnum >> price) // gets itemnum and price { while (in_stream2.eof()) // reads file to end of file { in_stream2 >> itemnum; in_stream2 >> price; price++; curr_total= price++; in_stream2 >> curr_total; cin.clear(); // allows more reading cin >> next; } } } out_stream3.setf(ios::fixed); out_stream3.setf(ios::showpoint); out_stream3.precision(2); while((price== (price*1.00)) && (itemnum == (itemnum*1))) { while (out_stream3 << itemnum << price) { while (out_stream3.eof()) // reads file to end of file { out_stream3 << itemnum; out_stream3 << price; price++; curr_total= price++; out_stream3 << curr_total; cin.clear(); // allows more reading cin >> next; } return itemnum, price; } } in_stream4.setf(ios::fixed); in_stream4.setf(ios::showpoint); in_stream4.precision(2); while ( in_stream4.eof()) { in_stream4 >> itemnum >> price >> curr_total; cin.clear(); cin >> next; } out_stream5.setf(ios::fixed); out_stream5.setf(ios::showpoint); out_stream5.precision(2); out_stream5 <<setw(5)<< " itemnum " <<setw(5)<<" price "<<setw(5)<<" curr_total " <<endl; // sends items and prices to receipt.txt out_stream5 << setw(5) << itemnum << setw(5) <<price << setw(5)<< curr_total; // sends items and prices to receipt.txt out_stream5 << " You have a total of " << wrong++ << " errors " << endl; }

  • Accessing PerSession service simultaneously in WCF using C#

    - by krishna555
    1.) I have a main method Processing, which takes string as an arguments and that string contains some x number of tasks. 2.) I have another method Status, which keeps track of first method by using two variables TotalTests and CurrentTest. which will be modified every time with in a loop in first method(Processing). 3.) When more than one client makes a call parallely to my web service to call the Processing method by passing a string, which has different tasks will take more time to process. so in the mean while clients will be using a second thread to call the Status method in the webservice to get the status of the first method. 4.) when point number 3 is being done all the clients are supposed to get the variables(TotalTests,CurrentTest) parallely with out being mixed up with other client requests. 5.) The code that i have provided below is getting mixed up variables results for all the clients when i make them as static. If i remove static for the variables then clients are just getting all 0's for these 2 variables and i am unable to fix it. Please take a look at the below code. [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession)] public class Service1 : IService1 { public int TotalTests = 0; public int CurrentTest = 0; public string Processing(string OriginalXmlString) { XmlDocument XmlDoc = new XmlDocument(); XmlDoc.LoadXml(OriginalXmlString); this.TotalTests = XmlDoc.GetElementsByTagName("TestScenario").Count; //finding the count of total test scenarios in the given xml string this.CurrentTest = 0; while(i<10) { ++this.CurrentTest; i++; } } public string Status() { return (this.TotalTests + ";" + this.CurrentTest); } } server configuration <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="WSHttpBinding_IService1" closeTimeout="00:10:00" openTimeout="00:10:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:10:00" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" transactionFlow="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" useDefaultWebProxy="true" allowCookies="false"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="2147483647" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxBytesPerRead="2147483647" maxNameTableCharCount="2147483647" /> <reliableSession ordered="true" inactivityTimeout="00:10:00" enabled="true" /> <security mode="Message"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="Windows" negotiateServiceCredential="true" algorithmSuite="Default" establishSecurityContext="true" /> </security> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> client configuration <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="WSHttpBinding_IService1" closeTimeout="00:10:00" openTimeout="00:10:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:10:00" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" transactionFlow="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" useDefaultWebProxy="true" allowCookies="false"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="2147483647" maxStringContentLength="2147483647" maxArrayLength="2147483647" maxBytesPerRead="2147483647" maxNameTableCharCount="2147483647" /> <reliableSession ordered="true" inactivityTimeout="00:10:00" enabled="true" /> <security mode="Message"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="Windows" negotiateServiceCredential="true" algorithmSuite="Default" establishSecurityContext="true" /> </security> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> Below mentioned is my client code class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Program prog = new Program(); Thread JavaClientCallThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(prog.ClientCallThreadRun)); Thread JavaStatusCallThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(prog.StatusCallThreadRun)); JavaClientCallThread.Start(); JavaStatusCallThread.Start(); } public void ClientCallThreadRun() { XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument(); doc.Load(@"D:\t72CalculateReasonableWithdrawal_Input.xml"); bool error = false; Service1Client Client = new Service1Client(); string temp = Client.Processing(doc.OuterXml, ref error); } public void StatusCallThreadRun() { int i = 0; Service1Client Client = new Service1Client(); string temp; while (i < 10) { temp = Client.Status(); Thread.Sleep(1500); Console.WriteLine("TotalTestScenarios;CurrentTestCase = {0}", temp); i++; } } } Can any one please help.

  • How to merge two different Makefiles?

    I have did some reading on "Merging Makefiles", one suggest I should leave the two Makefiles separate in different folders [1]. For me this look counter intuitive, because I have the following situation: I have 3 source files (main.cpp flexibility.cpp constraints.cpp) one of them (flexibility.cpp) is making use of the COIN-OR Linear Programming library (Clp) When installing this library on my computer it makes sample Makefiles, which I have adjust the Makefile and it currently makes a good working binary. # Copyright (C) 2006 International Business Machines and others. # All Rights Reserved. # This file is distributed under the Eclipse Public License. # $Id: Makefile.in 726 2006-04-17 04:16:00Z andreasw $ ########################################################################## # You can modify this example makefile to fit for your own program. # # Usually, you only need to change the five CHANGEME entries below. # ########################################################################## # To compile other examples, either changed the following line, or # add the argument DRIVER=problem_name to make DRIVER = main # CHANGEME: This should be the name of your executable EXE = clp # CHANGEME: Here is the name of all object files corresponding to the source # code that you wrote in order to define the problem statement OBJS = $(DRIVER).o constraints.o flexibility.o # CHANGEME: Additional libraries ADDLIBS = # CHANGEME: Additional flags for compilation (e.g., include flags) ADDINCFLAGS = # CHANGEME: Directory to the sources for the (example) problem definition # files SRCDIR = . ########################################################################## # Usually, you don't have to change anything below. I don't know what they exactly do. What I want is to merge the two of them so I get only one binary. The code compiled in the second Makefile should be the result. I want to add flexibility.cpp and constraints.cpp to the second Makefile, but when I do. I get the problem following problem: flexibility.h:4:26: fatal error: ClpSimplex.hpp: No such file or directory #include "ClpSimplex.hpp" So the compiler can't find the Clp library. I also tried to copy-paste more code from the first Makefile into the second, but it still gives me that same error. Q: Can you please help me with merging the two makefiles or pointing out a more elegant way? Q: In this case is it indeed better to merge the two Makefiles? I also tried to use cmake, but I gave upon that one quickly, because I don't know much about flex and bison.

  • NSStream sockets missing data

    - by Chris T.
    I am trying to pull some sample data from FreeDB as a proof of concept, but I am having a tough time retrieving all of the data off the incoming stream (I am only getting the last bits for the final query listed here (if handshakeCode = 3) I think this may be something with the threading on the main runloop, but I am not sure. Odd thing is when the buffer size is larger than 1-2 bytes (which works as expected), I seem to be losing access to the data programmatically (the totalOutput variable on the first set of data is incomplete). I set up a packet capture, and it looks like those 1024 bytes are coming across the wire, but the app just isn't working with it. It looks like the next event is coming through and basically taking over. I tried using an NSLock to no avail as well. If I drop the buffer size down to 1 or 2, things seem to be reading just fine. This is probably obvious to someone who does this all the time, but this is my first foray into this with something I am familiar with, technology wise in other languages / platforms. The following code will show you what is happening. Run with the buffer set to 1024, and you will see a short final string, but once you set it to 1, you will see the amount of data I was expecting (I was even expecting it to be split, so that's not a big worry) #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> //STACK OVERFLOW CODE: @interface stackoverflow : NSObject <NSStreamDelegate> { NSInputStream *iStream; NSOutputStream *oStream; int handshakeCode; NSString *selectedDiscId; NSString *selectedGenre; } -(void)getMatchesFromFreeDB; -(void)sendToOutputStream:(NSString*)command; @end @implementation stackoverflow -(void)getMatchesFromFreeDB { NSHost *host = [NSHost hostWithName:@"freedb.freedb.org"]; [NSStream getStreamsToHost:host port:8880 inputStream:&iStream outputStream:&oStream]; [iStream retain]; [oStream retain]; [iStream setDelegate:self]; [oStream setDelegate:self]; [iStream scheduleInRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]; [oStream scheduleInRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]; [iStream open]; [oStream open]; handshakeCode = 0; //not done any processing } -(void)stream:(NSStream *)aStream handleEvent:(NSStreamEvent)eventCode { switch(eventCode) { case NSStreamEventOpenCompleted: { NSLog(@"Stream open completed"); break; } case NSStreamEventHasBytesAvailable: { NSLog(@"Stream has bytes available"); if (aStream == iStream) { NSMutableString *totalOutput = [NSMutableString stringWithString:@""]; //read data uint8_t buffer[1024]; int len; while ([iStream hasBytesAvailable]) { len = [iStream read:buffer maxLength:sizeof(buffer)]; if (len 0) { NSString *output = [[NSString alloc] initWithBytes:buffer length:len encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; //this could have also been put into an NSData object if (nil != output) { //append to the total output [totalOutput appendString:output]; } } } NSLog(@"OUTPUT , %i:\n\n%@", [totalOutput lengthOfBytesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding], totalOutput); NSArray *outputComponents = [totalOutput componentsSeparatedByString:@" "]; //Attempt to get handshake code, since we haven't done it yet: if (handshakeCode == 1) { //we are just getting the sign-on banner: //let's move on: handshakeCode = 2; } else if (handshakeCode == 2) { handshakeCode = [[outputComponents objectAtIndex:0] intValue]; if (handshakeCode == 200) { NSLog(@"---Handshake OK %i", handshakeCode); NSMutableString *query = [NSMutableString stringWithString:@"cddb query f3114b11 17 225 19915 36489 54850 69425 87025 103948 123242 136075 152817 178335 192850 211677 235104 262090 284882 308658 4430\n"]; handshakeCode = 3; [self sendToOutputStream:query]; } } else if (handshakeCode == 3) { //now, we are reading out the matches: if ([[outputComponents objectAtIndex:0] intValue] == 200) //found exact match: { NSLog(@"Found exact match"); selectedGenre = [outputComponents objectAtIndex:1] ; selectedDiscId = [outputComponents objectAtIndex:2]; if (selectedGenre && selectedDiscId) { //send off the request to get the entry: NSString *query = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"cddb read %@ %@\n", selectedGenre, selectedDiscId]; [self sendToOutputStream:query]; handshakeCode = 4; } } } } break; } case NSStreamEventEndEncountered: { NSLog(@"Stream event end encountered"); break; } case NSStreamEventErrorOccurred: { NSLog(@"Stream error occurred"); break; } case NSStreamEventHasSpaceAvailable: { NSLog(@"Stream has space available"); if (aStream == oStream) { if (handshakeCode == 0) { handshakeCode = 1; [self sendToOutputStream:@"cddb hello stackoverflow localhost.localdomain test .01BETA\n"]; } } break; } } } -(void)sendToOutputStream:(NSString*)command { const uint8_t *rawCommand = (const uint8_t *)[command UTF8String]; [oStream write:rawCommand maxLength:strlen(rawCommand)]; NSLog(@"Sent command: %@",command); } @end int main (int argc, const char * argv[]) { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; stackoverflow *test = [[stackoverflow alloc] init]; [test getMatchesFromFreeDB]; NSRunLoop *runLoop = [NSRunLoop currentRunLoop]; [runLoop run]; [pool drain]; return 0; } Any help is much appreciated! • having issue while making the client calls persession in c# wcf

    - by krishna555
    1.) I have a main method Processing, which takes string as an arguments and that string contains some x number of tasks. 2.) I have another method Status, which keeps track of first method by using two variables TotalTests and CurrentTest. which will be modified every time with in a loop in first method(Processing). 3.) When more than one client makes a call parallely to my web service to call the Processing method by passing a string, which has different tasks will take more time to process. so in the mean while clients will be using a second thread to call the Status method in the webservice to get the status of the first method. 4.) when point number 3 is being done all the clients are supposed to get the variables(TotalTests,CurrentTest) parallely with out being mixed up with other client requests. 5.) The code that i have provided below is getting mixed up variables results for all the clients when i make them as static. If i remove static for the variables then clients are just getting all 0's for these 2 variables and i am unable to fix it. Please take a look at the below code. • Son of Suckerfish ie6 problem - right-most dropdown menu also appearing on left side of screen

    - by Kevin Burke
    I'm interning for an NGO in India and trying to fix their website, including updating their menu so it's not the last item on the page to load, and it's centered on the screen. Everything works well enough but when I try out my new menu in IE6, I get this weird error where the content below the menu is padded an extra 30px or so and the material in the right-most drop down appears on the far left of the screen, always visible. When I drop down the rightmost link ("Publications") the content appears both in the correct location and in the same spot on the far left of the screen, and changes color when I hover as well. It's tough to describe, so it would probably be best if you took a look: visit http://sevamandir.org/a30/index.htm in your Internet Explorer 6 browser to see for yourself. I really appreciate your help. Also I'm using a 1000px wide monitor, if there's more hijinks going on outside that space I'd like to know about that too. Here's the relevant code: in the html head: <script> sfHover = function() { var sfEls = document.getElementById("nav").getElementsByTagName("LI"); for (var i=0; i<sfEls.length; i++) { sfEls[i].onmouseover=function() { this.className+=" sfhover"; } sfEls[i].onmouseout=function() { this.className=this.className.replace(new RegExp(" sfhover\\b"), ""); } } } if (window.attachEvent) window.attachEvent("onload", sfHover); </script> text surrounding the menu - the menu is simply <ul id="nav"><li></li></ul> etc. <!--begin catchphrase--> <div style="float:left; height:27px; width:520px; margin:0px; font:16px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight:bold; color:#769841;"> Transforming lives through democratic &amp; participatory development </div> <?php include("menu.php"); ?> </div><!-- end header --> <!--begin main text div--> <div id="maincontent"> Relevant menu CSS: #nav, #nav ul { font:bold 11px Verdana, sans-serif; float: left; width: 980px; list-style: none; line-height: 1; background: white; font-weight: bold; padding: 0; border: solid #769841; border-width: 0; margin: 0 0 1em 0; } #nav a { display: block; width: 140px; /*this is the total width of the upper menu*/ w\idth: 120px; /*this is the width less horizontal padding */ padding: 5px 10px 5px 10px; /*horiz padding is the 2nd & 4th items here - goes Top Right Bottom Left */ color: #ffffff; background:#b6791e; text-decoration: none; } #nav a.daddy { background: url(rightarrow2.gif) center right no-repeat; } #nav li { float: left; padding: 0; width: 140px; /*this needs to be updated to match top #nav a */ background:#b6791e; } #nav li:hover, #nav li a:hover, #nav li:hover a { background:#769841; } #nav li:hover li a { background:#ffffff; color:#769841; } #nav li ul { position: absolute; left: -999em; height: auto; width: 14.4em; w\idth: 13.9em; font-weight: bold; border-width: 0.25em; /*green border around dropdown menu*/ margin: 0; } #nav li ul a { background:#ffffff; color:#769841; } #nav li li { padding-right: 1em; width: 13em; background:#ffffff; } #nav li ul a { width: 13em; w\idth: 9em; } #nav li ul ul { margin: -1.75em 0 0 14em; } #nav li:hover ul ul, #nav li:hover ul ul ul, #nav li.sfhover ul ul, #nav li.sfhover ul ul ul { left: -999em; } #nav li:hover ul, #nav li li:hover ul, #nav li li li:hover ul, #nav li.sfhover ul, #nav li li.sfhover ul, #nav li li li.sfhover ul { left: auto; } #nav li:hover, #nav li.sfhover, { background: #769841; color:#ffe400; } #nav li a:hover, #nav li li a:hover, #nav li:hover li:hover, #nav li.sfhover a:hover { background: #769841; color:#ffe400; }

  • jsf flash.keep and redirects does not seem to work

    - by user384706
    Hi, I am trying to use JSF 2.0 flash via redirects. I have a class named UserBean (ManagedScoped and RequestScoped). It has a method called getValuesFromFlash which essentially gets the values from the flash and sets the coresponding properties of the UserBean public void getValuesFromFlash() { Flash flash = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getFlash(); firstName= (String) flash.get("firstName"); lastName = (String) flash.get("lastName"); } In the entry page the <h:inputText> are bound to the flash. Snippet follows: Entry.xhtml <h:form> <table> <tr> <td>First Name:</td> <td> <h:inputText id="fname" value="#{flash.firstName}" required="true"/> <h:message for="fname" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Last Name:</td> <td> <h:inputText id="lname" value="#{flash.lastName}" required="true"/> <h:message for="lname" /> </td> </tr> </table <p><h:commandButton value="Submit" action="confirmation?faces-redirect=true" /></p> </h:form> In confirmation.xhtml these values are supposed to be displayed but they are not. Snippet follows: <table> <tr> <td>First Name:</td> <td> <h:outputText value="#{flash.keep.firstName}" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Last Name:</td> <td> <h:outputText value="#{flash.keep.lastName}"/> </td> </tr> </table> <h:form> <p><h:commandButton value="Confirm" action="finished?faces-redirect=true" /></p> </h:form> In finished.xhtml I want all these to be displayed so: <h:body> <h:form> #{userBean.getValuesFromFlash( )} <table> <tr> <td>First Name:</td> <td> <h:outputText value="#{userBean.firstName}" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Last Name:</td> <td> <h:outputText value="#{userBean.lastName}"/> </td> </tr> </table> </h:form> </h:body> Instead when I get redirected to confirmation.xhtml neither first nor last name is displayed, despite I used flash.keep Also in finished.xhtml I get org.apache.el.parser.ParseException: Encountered " "(" "( "" at line 1, column 30. Was expecting one of: "}" ... "." If I remove the parenthesis from the expression #{userBean.getValuesFromFlash( )} and make it = #{userBean.getValuesFromFlash} javax.el.ELException: /done.xhtml: Property 'getValuesFromFlash' not found on type com.UserBean But why no property??It is a method! Why is the method not visible? What I am doing wrong here please? I am using JSF2.0 (MyFaces), Eclipse Helios and Tomcat 6 (Have also tried in Tomcat 7 but no luck). Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Possible memory leak problem

    - by MaiTiano
    I write two pieces of c programs like following, during memcheck process using Valgrind, a lot of mem leak information is given. int GetMemory(int framewidth, int frameheight, int SR/*, int blocksize*//*,int ALL_REF_NUM*/) { //int i,j; int memory_size = 0; //int refnum = ALL_REF_NUM; int input_search_range = SR; memory_size += get_mem2D(&curFrameY, frameheight, framewidth); memory_size += get_mem2D(&curFrameU, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem2D(&curFrameV, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem3D(&prevFrameY, refnum, frameheight, framewidth);// to allocate reference frame buffer accoding to the reference frame number memory_size += get_mem3D(&prevFrameU, refnum, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem3D(&prevFrameV, refnum, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem2D(&mpFrameY, frameheight, framewidth); memory_size += get_mem2D(&mpFrameU, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem2D(&mpFrameV, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem2D(&searchwindow, input_search_range*2 + blocksize, input_search_range*2 + blocksize);// to allocate search window according to the searchrange /*memory_size +=*/ get_mem1D(/*&SAD_cost, height, width*/); // memory_size += get_mem2D(&searchwindow, 80, 80);// if searchrange is 32, then only 32+1+32+15 pixels is needed in each row and col, therefore the range of // search window is enough to be set to 80 ! memory_size += get_mem2Dint(&all_mv, height/blocksize, width/blocksize); return 0; } void FreeMemory(int refno) { free_mem2D(curFrameY); free_mem2D(curFrameU); free_mem2D(curFrameV); free_mem3D(prevFrameY,refno); free_mem3D(prevFrameU,refno); free_mem3D(prevFrameV,refno); free_mem2D(mpFrameY); free_mem2D(mpFrameU); free_mem2D(mpFrameV); free_mem2D(searchwindow); free_mem1D(); free_mem2Dint(all_mv); } void free_mem1D() { free(SAD_cost); } Now I hope to make sure where are the possible problems in my program? Here I may post some valgrind information to let you know about the actual error information. ==29105== by 0x804A906: main (me_search.c:1480) ==29105== ==29105== ==29105== HEAP SUMMARY: ==29105== in use at exit: 124,088 bytes in 18 blocks ==29105== total heap usage: 37 allocs, 21 frees, 749,276 bytes allocated ==29105== ==29105== 272 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 1 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804885E: GetMemory (me_search.c:117) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 352 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 2 of 18 ==29105== at 0x4024F20: malloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:236) ==29105== by 0x409537E: __fopen_internal (iofopen.c:76) ==29105== by 0x409544B: fopen@@GLIBC_2.1 (iofopen.c:107) ==29105== by 0x804A660: main (me_search.c:1439) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 3 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x8048724: GetMemory (me_search.c:106) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 4 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x8048747: GetMemory (me_search.c:107) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 5 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x8048809: GetMemory (me_search.c:114) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 6 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804882C: GetMemory (me_search.c:115) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 7 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804A4F8: get_mem3D (me_search.c:1393) ==29105== by 0x804879B: GetMemory (me_search.c:110) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 8 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804A4F8: get_mem3D (me_search.c:1393) ==29105== by 0x80487C9: GetMemory (me_search.c:111) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 1,168 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 9 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x8048701: GetMemory (me_search.c:105) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 1,168 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 10 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x80487E6: GetMemory (me_search.c:113) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 1,168 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 11 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804A4F8: get_mem3D (me_search.c:1393) ==29105== by 0x804876D: GetMemory (me_search.c:109) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 6,336 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 12 of 18 ==29105== at 0x4024F20: malloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:236) ==29105== by 0x804A25C: get_mem1D (me_search.c:1295) ==29105== by 0x8048866: GetMemory (me_search.c:119) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456)
