I am programming in C, using the Windows API, and would like to know how I could draw separators.
I'm a total noob when it comes to writing GUI applications, so I may need a code example.
I am already pretty good at PHP and now want to expand my knowledge to desktop programming.. which language would be:
The one's I'm mainly looking into are: Java, C#, C++, Python
1) Easier to learn?
2) Most suitable for Making 3D games and applications with sockets?
One more thing - Although I'm looking to code for Windows, I may also want to do a bit of programming for Mac OS after a while.
1.Start Andorid app
in my app there are 10 screens i navigate b/w the screens
after that i press home button my app goes on the background
now i play with other applications which cause system to
run GC
press home button select my app come back to my app
when i press back button it throws exception and crashes.
any idea for quick fix ?
I'm new to SOA (and to Stack Overflow too...)
Some services and web applications we are developing must all log audit information. We are considering an audit service for this. Is there any SOA governing principal that should make me think twice about having one of the services call the audit service to log information? A service-to-service call in other words?
Many people are saying that Apple has restricted it for better performance. If so Apple should increase the size of RAM to support multitasking. So Apple is not allowing it.
Others say that Cocoa Touch applications can't be multitasking as the iPhone has only one window and views on it.
I can not understand which is the actual reason for this ?
Please clarify me.
Hi,
I have some windows command line applications, in binary form (I do not have the source code) which I use frequently. Sometimes I need to run them in Linux machines, and it works perfectly under wine (wine is not an emulator). The problem I'm facing now is that I need to work on a cluster which has not wine installed on it. I wonder if it is possible to create in another similar linux machine kind of a static executable or so, so i can run this windows program on the cluster
Thanks
I'm looking to get a device (phone, tablet, etc.) for developing Android applications. I know I can use the emulator to get me started, but I feel like that will only get me so far along. I'm looking for something reasonably priced, and I don't want a phone contract, data plan, etc. Anyone have any suggestions?
Hi Guys,
I have a database where 2 (or maybe 3 or 4) different applications are inserting information. The new information has IDs of the type GUID/UUID, but each application is using a different algorithm to generate the IDs. For example, one is using the NHibernate's "guid.comb", other is using the SQLServer's NEWID(), other might want to use .NET's Guid.NewGuid() implementation.
Is there an above normal risk of ID collision or duplicates?
Thanks!
I just got the add-on for firefox and it's awesome so far! But all I am doing is just moving the cursor around the page to get the css+html. And I know there are TONS more applications to firebug. Is there a beginner's guide to firebug since it's so popular or is it just something with practice?
I'm beginning to learn mobile programming on the Android platform. I'm up for working with any particular base SDK. I just want to hear some suggestions from the community about what types of applications I should start with to help learn more advanced interactions with the platform.
There are of course the Standard Hello World, calculator, etc. But by now I am bored with all of those.
What do you all make when learning a new language?
Hi,
I am using 32 bit openSUSE OS, and I am using a cross compiler to build 64 bit application( it does not support building 32 apps) as our software will be deployed on a machine which is 64 bit OS. As testing on target is not always possible, is there anyway to run this applications on my 32 bit OS.
I want to start develop mobile applications and sell it. There are many mobile platforms for which I can begin develop: Windows Mobile , Android, Iphone, Linux based Devices.
I want to find out from people who has such experience which platform more comfortable and more profitible for me to use.
Hi,
Has anyone been able to get AutofacControllerFactory working in applications where the controllers are split into Areas?
Looks like it is not supported out of the box in the current version.
Thanks
Is there any way to send a key press to a DirectX application using Windows API without activating its window?
I know there is a solution for simple applications, but DirectX handles this quite different...
The solution is preferred in C++, and libraries are OK.
Thanks!
I have two web applications say App1 and App2. I want to call a servlet which is in App2 from a servlet in App1. I'm using URLConnection for this. I'm able to pass parameters to the servlet in App2 also and I'm also able to receive response from the servlet as string. But I want to send java objects from the servlet in App2 and receive them in servlet of App1. How to achieve this?
Hi,
when the number of applications running in a pc increases,
the power consumed by the PC is also increasing.
Is this correct?
I think the reason behind this is CPU.
Please let me know what role the CPU plays for more power usage.
Thanks,
Kavi
What is better for window form applications or what do you all perfer?
An application with a Trial Period by a Date (like free to use for 30 days) or do you like to limit functionality of the application for the Free Version?
I really this is a hugely subjective topic but here is my current take:
When calling methods which do not form part of the .NET BCL named parameters should always be used as the method signatures may well change, especially during the development cycle of my own applications.
Although they might appear more verbose they are also far clearer.
Is the above a reasonable approach to calling methods or have I overlooked something fundamental?
I'm thinking that, as flat screens get bigger and cheaper it won't be too long before 'digital wallpaper'-like screens become popular in people's living rooms with a host of applications that could take advantage of this particular screen size/resolution.
Is there a proper name for this size of screen?
'Wall Screen' - is too ambiguous
'Massive Screen' - is probably best reserved for something you'd put on the side of a sky scraper
'Small Screen' - nabbed by the mobiles
'Large Screen' - kind of means desktop
I'm thinking of the kind of screen used in 'Minority Report'.
There are many applications for Windows these days that don't use native windows controls, don't have standard window frames and generally look different. What are some recommended techniques for creating such interfaces?
Are there any plans for auto memory management?
What are the advantanges of manually managing memory...does it conserve memory in the long run?
I have noticed in .Net Windows Applications - they are very sluggish - is this partly due to the garbage collector not working correctly?
Is it possible to check for a right-click on a menu item in .NET?
It appears that the framework doesn't expose it as an Event, but I've seen other applications (like Chrome and Firefox) which allow you to bring up a right-click context menu for a menu item. Presumably with a little event-loop magic you can do the same thing in .NET, right?
I have Silverlight 3.0 applications with some custom graphic and some charts. I need to find a best way to transfer this graphic to PowerPoint presentation.
I`we read that Silverlight 4.0 offers new Clipboard API, but there is only support for Unicode-text, not images.
Is there a way to achieve this task without forcing user to manually print screen and than paste to other applicatons.
I noticed in Objective C that xcode automatically uses a strange position of braces:
if (statement) {
}
whereas I am used to using:
if (statement)
{
}
it just makes it easier to read. Is it a matter of preference or is a standard that should be followed when writing Objective C applications?
