• Samba port forwarding?

  Here's my situation: On my network, most of the clients are on an outside router. Router 1 192.168.1.1 | | - Client | Router 2 192.168.1.2 to router 1, | 192.168.2.1 to clients within | Samba server - 192.168.2.25 I cannot figure out how to get clients under router 1 to access the Samba shares in router 2. I have forwarded ports 139 and 445 to the appropriate machine in router 2 but machines in router 1 still cannot access the server. How would I set this up?

• Windows 7 showing subfiles when saving files from internet?

  Within the last week, whenever I go to save a file from the internet when I save to "Documents" it doesn't show just what is in My Documents at the higher level, it shows all the contents of every sub-folder. I haven't changed any settings- how can I get this back to normal (so that files of sub-folders are not shown when saving)? I tried with both Chrome and IE so it's not the browser doing it. The problem seems to only happen with My Documents, no other folders like Downloads etc.

  I need to add startup and shutdown scripts from a CLI through a Powershell/Python/CMD script. Ideally, I would like to have the same functionality as gpedit.msc, but it is important that the tasks of adding and removing such scripts do not require user interaction and can be done entirely within the context of a script. Imagine I use rewrite rules to set environmental variable RewriteRule ... ... [E=something:1] What is the scope of "something" - global Apache server (this means "something" will be available for other request transactions), this request (means that "something" is only valid for THIS http request (and its related processing - but what's about internal redirects and other internal stuff - are they considered as THIS request, or another one?), and may be set differently within another (concurrent) request?

• How to remove Unicode characters and/or convert OpenOffice spreadsheet cells to plaintext?

  I have an OpenOffice spreadsheet into which I occasionally copy/paste snippets from web pages. However, I need the file, as a whole, to be free of fancy formatting and non-ASCII text. Is tried highlighting cells and selecting "Default Formatting" but this still seems to keep extraneous characters even though it looks like normal text to the human eye. If this is not possible, is there a way to at least reveal the "raw" data within a cell so that I can manually strip it? Thanks, Jeff

Not only when I type it at address bar but any where it is referenced within the served html page. All the other domains should be left as is. • Copy all text in a LibreOffice Draw drawing

  I have a large flowchart, created in LibreOffice Draw (3.3.1), that I would like to copy all of the text from. I do not need, nor care about the order or structure, I just need all of the text from within the blocks. I can't seem to find any way to export without turning it into an image, and none of the "Paste Special" options allow me to get unformatted text. Is there a way to do this without retyping everything?

  Is it possible to use mod_rewrite to force all users entering a site (either through a link from another site, or by typing a URL in the address bar) to be redirected to the homepage? From the homepage (or any page within the site), users should then be able to access other pages in the site. But all users would be forced to enter the site through the homepage. Can this be done with mod_rewrite (or without using a scripting language)?

I would also like a section that shows the tasks for today and another for high-priority tasks coming up within a week. I have not programmed in Excel before. • How do I show full names of folders that contain bookmarks in the Google Chrome Bookmark Bar?

  I have Google Chrome installed on Ubuntu and I have made a number of folders of bookmarks placed within my bookmark bar. The problem is that some of the folder's names are abbreviated like "Ru---" for "Ruby". This is kind of annoying when I have more than one folder that starts with "Ru". Also, my bookmark bar is not completely full, so there is plenty of space for these names to show. Anyone know how to fix this?

I was wondering if it was possible to write some .htaccess page that makes the server use an index.php file in a SINGLE directory as the index file for every directory/sub-directory on my server, rather than placing the exact same index.php in 200+ directories. If my description isn't clear, what I essentially mean is: /files/index.php is to be used as the index for, for example, /files/morefiles, as well as the index for all directories and sub-directories within /files/, even though those directories would not have an index file themselves.   With Active Directory, what is a good way to monitor replication? I have multiple sites and multiple locations, so ideally both replication between sites and within sites would be monitored. I'm not really sure if each DC needs to be monitored, each NTDS connection, or each DC * Each NTDS connection. For the purposes of fitting into a standard alerting methodology, perfmon counters that would allow me to alert if replication was behind X minutes seems like it might be ideal.

• Does a 300mbps 802.11n wireless connection have any noticeable speed improvement over 54mbps g?

  300mbps sounds wonderful, but not with my horrible Comcast internet connection. I doubt there's an internet connection in America that even hits 54mbps. So I'm guessing that the only reason someone would be inclined to upgrade is for faster data transfer within the local network. With my internet connection where download rates are rarely ever above a few hundred kilobytes a second, would I even see any improvement in switching from 802.11g to 802.11n?

  I've been trying to follow Scott Hanselman's post on installing the Win8 RP on a vhd, using the win8 .iso on a dvd, but the install wont start.   I'm running Solr on Tomcat 8 on a Windows Server 2008 and I want to complete restrict all access to both except local. I've tried adding address attributes to <connector/> tags in the server.xml file and a couple of other things, but I noticed in each case the problem described was limiting access to a particular area, whereas I want a complete block. What is the correct (e.g. deepest/highest) place to set this access restriction within Tomcat?
