  • Inheritence and usage of dynamic_cast

    - by Mewzer
Hello, Suppose I have 3 classes as follows (as this is an example, it will not compile!): class Base { public: Base(){} virtual ~Base(){} virtual void DoSomething() = 0; virtual void DoSomethingElse() = 0; }; class Derived1 { public: Derived1(){} virtual ~Derived1(){} virtual void DoSomething(){ ... } virtual void DoSomethingElse(){ ... } virtual void SpecialD1DoSomething{ ... } }; class Derived2 { public: Derived2(){} virtual ~Derived2(){} virtual void DoSomething(){ ... } virtual void DoSomethingElse(){ ... } virtual void SpecialD2DoSomething{ ... } }; I want to create an instance of Derived1 or Derived2 depending on some setting that is not available until run-time. As I cannot determine the derived type until run-time, then do you think the following is bad practice?... class X { public: .... void GetConfigurationValue() { .... // Get configuration setting, I need a "Derived1" b = new Derived1(); // Now I want to call the special DoSomething for Derived1 (dynamic_cast<Derived1*>(b))->SpecialD1DoSomething(); } private: Base* b; }; I have generally read that usage of dynamic_cast is bad, but as I said, I don't know which type to create until run-time. Please help!

  • Recursive function for copy of multilevel folder is not working.

    - by OM The Eternity
Recursive function for copy of multilevel folder is not working. I have a code to copy all the mulitilevel folder to new folder. But in between I feel there is problem of proper path recognition, see the code below.. <?php $source = '/var/www/html/pranav_test'; $destination = '/var/www/html/parth'; copy_recursive_dirs($source, $destination); function copy_recursive_dirs($dirsource, $dirdest) { // recursive function to copy // all subdirectories and contents: if(is_dir($dirsource)) { $dir_handle=opendir($dirsource); } if(!is_dir($dirdest)) { mkdir($dirdest, 0777); } while($file=readdir($dir_handle)) {/*echo "<pre>"; print_r($file);*/ if($file!="." && $file!="..") { if(!is_dir($dirsource.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$file)) { copy ($dirsource.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$file, $dirdest.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$dirsource.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$file); } else{ copy_recursive_dirs($dirsource.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$file, $dirdest); } } } closedir($dir_handle); return true; } ?> from the above code the if loop has a copy function as per requirement, but the path applied for destination here is not proper, I have tried with basename function as well.. but it didnt got the expected result.. below is the if loop i am talking about with comment describing the output... if(!is_dir($dirsource.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$file)) { $basefile = basename($dirsource.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$file);//it gives the file name echo "Pranav<br>".$dirdest.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$dirsource.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$file;//it outputs for example "/var/www/html/parth//var/www/html/pranav_test/media/system/js/caption.js" which is not correct.. copy ($dirsource.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$file, $dirdest.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$dirsource.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.$file); } as shown above the i cannot get the files and folders copied to expected path.. please guide me to place proper path in the function....

  • Unexpected output using subprocess in Python

    - by Vic
I am trying to run a shell command from within my Python (version 2.6.5) code, but it is generating different output than the same command run within the shell (bash): bash: ~> ifconfig eth0 | sed -rn 's/inet addr:(([0-9]{1,3}\.){3}[0-9]{1,3}).*/\1/p' | sed 's/^[ \t]*//;s/[ \t]*$//' 192.168.1.10 Python: >>> def get_ip(): ... cmd_string = "ifconfig eth0 | sed -rn \'s/inet addr:(([0-9]{1,3}\.){3}[0-9]{1,3}).*/\1/p' | sed 's/^[ \t]*//;s/[ \t]*$//\'" ... process = subprocess.Popen(cmd_string, shell=True, stdout=subprocess.PIPE) ... out, err = process.communicate() ... return out ... >>> get_ip() '\x01\n' My guess is that I need to escape the quotes somehow when running in python, but I am not sure how to go about this. NOTE: I cannot install additional modules or update python on the machine that this code needs to be run on. It needs to work as-is with Python 2.6.5 and the standard library.

  • basic file input using C

    - by user1781966
So im working on learning how to do file I/O, but the book I'm using is terrible at teaching how to receive input from a file. Below is is their example of how to receive input from a file, but it doesn't work. I have copied it word for word, and it should loop through a list of names until it reaches the end of the file( or so they say in the book), but it doesn't. In fact if I leave the while loop in there, it doesn't print anything. #include <stdio.h> #include <conio.h> int main() { char name[10]; FILE*pRead; pRead=fopen("test.txt", "r"); if (pRead==NULL) { printf("file cannot be opened"); }else printf("contents of test.txt"); fscanf(pRead,"%s",name); while(!feof(pRead)) { printf("%s\n",name); fscanf(pRead, "%s", name); } getch(); } Even online, every beginners tutorial I see does some variation of this, but I can't seem to get it to work even a little bit.

  • Return REF CURSOR to procedure generated data

    - by ThaDon
I need to write a sproc which performs some INSERTs on a table, and compile a list of "statuses" for each row based on how well the INSERT went. Each row will be inserted within a loop, the loop iterates over a cursor that supplies some values for the INSERT statement. What I need to return is a resultset which looks like this: FIELDS_FROM_ROW_BEING_INSERTED.., STATUS VARCHAR2 The STATUS is determined by how the INSERT went. For instance, if the INSERT caused a DUP_VAL_ON_INDEX exception indicating there was a duplicate row, I'd set the STATUS to "Dupe". If all went well, I'd set it to "SUCCESS" and proceed to the next row. By the end of it all, I'd have a resultset of N rows, where N is the number of insert statements performed and each row contains some identifying info for the row being inserted, along with the "STATUS" of the insertion Since there is no table in my DB to store the values I'd like to pass back to the user, I'm wondering how I can return the info back? Temporary table? Seems in Oracle temporary tables are "global", not sure I would want a global table, are there any temporary tables that get dropped after a session is done?

  • Emulating a computer running MS-DOS

    - by Richard
Writing emulators has always fascinated me. Now I want to write an emulator for an IBM PC and run MS-DOS on it (I've got the floppy image files). I have good experience in C++ and C and basic knowledge of assembler and the architecture of a CPU. I also know that there are thousands of emulators out there doing exactly what I want to do, but I'd be doing this for pure joy only. How much work do I have to expect? (If my goal is to boot DOS and create a text file with it, all emulated) What CPU should I emulate ? Where can I find documentation on how the machine code is organized and which opcodes mean what, so I can unpack and execute them correctly with my emulator? Does MS-DOS still run on the newest generations of processors? Would it theoretically be able to natively run on a 64-bit AMD Phenom 2 processor w/ a modern mainboard, HDD, RAM, etc.? What else, besides emulating the CPU, could be an important factor (in terms of difficulty)? I would only aim for outputting / inputting text to the system via the host system's console, no sound or other more advanced IO etc. Have you written an emulator yet? What was your first one for? How hard was it? Do you have any special tips for me? Thanks in advance

  • Custom UITableViewCell from xib isn't displaying properly

    - by Kenny Wyland
I've created custom UITableCells a bunch of times and I've never run into this problem, so I'm hoping you can help me find the thing I've missed or messed up. When I run my app, the cells in my table view appear to be standard cells with Default style. I have SettingsTableCell which is a subclass of UITableViewCell. I have a SettingsTableCell.xib which contains a UITableViewCell and inside that are a couple labels and a textfield. I've set the class type in the xib to be SettingsTableCell and the File's Owner of the xib to my table controller. My SettingsTableController has an IBOutlet property named tableCell. My cellForRowAtIndexPath contains the following code to load my table view xib and assign it to my table controller's tableCell property: static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"CellSettings"; SettingsTableCell *cell = (SettingsTableCell*)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"SettingsTableCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = self.tableCell; self.tableCell = nil; NSLog(@"cell=%@", cell); } This is what my xib set up looks like in IB: When I run my app, the table displays as if all of the cells are standard Default style cells though: The seriously weird part is though... if I tap on the area of the cell where the textfield SHOULD be, the keyboard does come up! The textfield isn't visible, there's no cursor or anything like that... but it does respond. The visible UILabel is obviously not the UILabel from my xib though because the label in my xib is right justified and the one showing in the app is left justified. I'm incredibly confused about how this is happening. Any help is appreciated.

  • How would I make this faster? Parsing Word/sorting by heading [on hold]

    - by Doof12
Currently it takes about 3 minutes to run through a single 53 page word document. Hopefully you all have some advice about speeding up the process. Code: import win32com.client as win32 from glob import glob import io import re from collections import namedtuple from collections import defaultdict import pprint raw_files = glob('*.docx') word = win32.gencache.EnsureDispatch('Word.Application') word.Visible = False oFile = io.open("rawsort.txt", "w+", encoding = "utf-8")#text dump doccat= list() for f in raw_files: word.Documents.Open(f) doc = word.ActiveDocument #whichever document is active at the time doc.ConvertNumbersToText() print doc.Paragraphs.Count for x in xrange(1, doc.Paragraphs.Count+1):#for loop to print through paragraphs oText = doc.Paragraphs(x) if not oText.Range.Tables.Count >0 : results = re.match('(?P<number>(([1-3]*[A-D]*[0-9]*)(.[1-3]*[0-9])+))', oText.Range.Text) stylematch = re.match('Heading \d', oText.Style.NameLocal) if results!= None and oText.Style != None and stylematch != None: doccat.append((oText.Style.NameLocal, oText.Range.Text[:len(results.group('number'))],oText.Range.Text[len(results.group('number')):])) style = oText.Style.NameLocal else: if oText.Range.Font.Bold == True : doccat.append(style, oText) oFile.write(unicode(doccat)) oFile.close() The for Paragraph loop obviously takes the most amount of time. Is there some way of identifying and appending it without going through every Paragraph?

  • Catching exception in Main() method

    - by Corvin
Consider the following simple application: a windows form created by a "new C# windows application" sequence in VS that was modified in a following way: public static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); try { Application.Run(new Form1()); } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show("An unexpected exception was caught."); } } Form1.cs contains the following modifications: private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { throw new Exception("Error"); } If I press F5 in IDE, then, as I expect, I see a message box saying that exception was caught and the application quits. If I go to Debug(or Release)/bin and launch the executable, I see the standard "Unhandled exception" window, meaning that my exception handler doesn't work. Obviously, that has something to do with exception being thrown from a different thread that Application.Run is called from. But the question remains - why the behavior differs depending on whether the application has been run from IDE or from command line? What is the best practice to ensure that no exceptions remain unhandled in the application?

  • Adding and sorting a linked list in C

    - by user1202963
    In my assignment, I have to write a function that takes as arguments a pointer to a "LNode" structure and an integer argument. Then, I have to not only add that integer into the linked list, but also put place it so that the list is in proper ascending order. I've tried several various attempts at this, and this is my code as of posting. LNode* AddItem(LNode *headPtr, int newItem) { auto LNode *ptr = headPtr; ptr = malloc(sizeof(LNode)); if (headPtr == NULL) { ptr->value = newItem; ptr->next = headPtr; return ptr; } else { while (headPtr->value > newItem || ptr->next != NULL) { printf("While\n"); // This is simply to let me know how many times the loop runs headPtr = headPtr->next; } ptr->value = newItem; ptr->next = headPtr; return ptr; } } // end of "AddItem" When I run it, and try to insert say a 5 and then a 3, the 5 gets inserted, but then the while loop runs once and I get a segmentation fault. Also I cannot change the arguments as it's part of a skeletal code for this project. Thanks to anyone who can help. If it helps this is what the structure looks like typedef struct LNode { int value; struct LNode *next; } LNode;

  • JavaScript, jQuery, XML - if statement not executing for unknown reason

    - by Jack Roscoe
    Hi, I have a 'for' loop which extracts data from an XML document and adds it into some JavaScript objects, each time the loop executes I want it to run a certain function depending on the value of the attribute 'typ' which is being retrieved from the xml. Currently, the data from the XML is successfully being parsed, which is proven by the first 'alert' you can see which produces the correct value. However, neither of the 'alert' lines in the 'if' statement lower down are being executed and as a result I cannot test the 'ctyp3' function which is supposed to be called. Where have I gone wrong? for (j=0; j<arrayIds.length; j++) { $(xml).find("C[ID='" + arrayIds[j] + "']").each(function(){ // pass values questions[j] = { typ: $(this).attr('typ'), width: $(this).find("I").attr('wid'), height: $(this).find("I").attr('hei'), x: $(this).find("I").attr('x'), y: $(this).find("I").attr('x'), baC: $(this).find("I").attr('baC'), boC: $(this).find("I").attr('boC'), boW: $(this).find("I").attr('boW') } alert($(this).attr('typ')); if ($(this).attr('typ') == '3') { ctyp3(x,y,width,height,baC); alert('pass'); } else { // Add here alert('fail'); } }); }

  • Does Function pointer make the program slow?

    - by drigoSkalWalker
Hi guys. I read about function pointers in C And everyone said that will make my program run slow. Is it true? I made a program to check it. And I got the same results on both cases. (mesure the time.) So, is it bad to use fuction pointer? Thanks in advance. To response for some guys. I said 'run slow' for the time that I have compared on a loop. like this. int end = 1000; int i = 0; while (i < end) { fp = func; fp (); } When you execute this, i got the same time if I execute this. while (i < end) { func (); } So I think that function pointer have no difference of time and it don't make a program run slow as many people said.

  • Scientific Data processing(Graph comparison and interpretation)

    - by pinkynobrain
Hi stackoverflow friends, I'm trying to write a program to automate one of my more boring and repetative work tasks. I have some programming experience but none with processing or interpreting large volumes of data so i am seeking your advice(both suggestions of techneques to try and also things to read to learn more about doing this stuff). I have a piece of equipment that monitors an experiment by taking repeated samples and displays the readings on its screen as a graph. The input of experiment can be altered and one of these changes should produce a change in a section of the graph which i currently identify by eye and is what im looking for in the experiment. I want to automate it so that a computer looks at a set of results and spots the experiment input that causes the change. I can already extract the results from the machine. Currently they results for a run are in the form of an integer array with the index being the sample number and the corresponding value being the measurement. The overall shape of the graph will be similar for each experiment run. The change im looking for will be roughly the same and will occur in approximatly the same place every time for the correct experiment input. Unfortunatly there are a few gotcha's that make this problem more difficult. There is some noise in the measuring process which mean there is some random variation in the measured values between different runs. Although the overall shape of the graph remains the same. The time the experiment takes varies slightly each run causing two effects. First, the a whole graph may be shifted slightly on the x axis relative to another runs graph. Second, individual features may appear slightly wider or narrower in different runs. In both these cases the variation isn't particularly large and you can assume that the only non random variation is caused by the correct input being found. Thank you for your time, Pinky

  • Unable to write to a text file

    - by chrissygormley
Hello, I am running some tests and need to write to a file. When I run the test's the open = (file, 'r+') does not write to the file. The test script is below: class GetDetailsIP(TestGet): def runTest(self): self.category = ['PTZ'] try: # This run's and return's a value result = self.client.service.Get(self.category) mylogfile = open("test.txt", "r+") print >>mylogfile, result result = ("".join(mylogfile.readlines()[2])) result = str(result.split(':')[1].lstrip("//").split("/")[0]) mylogfile.close() except suds.WebFault, e: assert False except Exception, e: pass finally: if 'result' in locals(): self.assertEquals(result, self.camera_ip) else: assert False When this test run's, no value has been entered into the text file and a value is returned in the variable result. I havw also tried mylogfile.write(result). If the file does not exist is claim's the file does not exist and doesn't create one. Could this be a permission problem where python is not allowed to create a file? I have made sure that all other read's to this file are closed so I the file should not be locked. Can anyone offer any suggestion why this is happening? Thanks

  • Use Linq to SQL to generate sales report

    - by Richard Reddy
    I currently have the following code to generate a sales report over the last 30 days. I'd like to know if it would be possible to use linq to generate this report in one step instead of the rather basic loop I have here. For my requirement, every day needs to return a value to me so if there are no sales for any day then a 0 is returned. Any of the Sum linq examples out there don't explain how it would be possible to include a where filter so I am confused on how to get the total amount per day, or a 0 if no sales, for the last days I pass through. Thanks for your help, Rich //setup date ranges to use DateTime startDate = DateTime.Now.AddDays(-29); DateTime endDate = DateTime.Now.AddDays(1); TimeSpan startTS = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 0); TimeSpan endTS = new TimeSpan(23, 59, 59); using (var dc = new DataContext()) { //get database sales from 29 days ago at midnight to the end of today var salesForDay = dc.Orders.Where(b => b.OrderDateTime > Convert.ToDateTime(startDate.Date + startTS) && b.OrderDateTime <= Convert.ToDateTime(endDate.Date + endTS)); //loop through each day and sum up the total orders, if none then set to 0 while (startDate != endDate) { decimal totalSales = 0m; DateTime startDay = startDate.Date + startTS; DateTime endDay = startDate.Date + endTS; foreach (var sale in salesForDay.Where(b => b.OrderDateTime > startDay && b.OrderDateTime <= endDay)) { totalSales += (decimal)sale.OrderPrice; } Response.Write("From Date: " + startDay + " - To Date: " + endDay + ". Sales: " + String.Format("{0:0.00}", totalSales) + "<br>"); //move to next day startDate = startDate.AddDays(1); } }

  • Concurrent connections in C# socket

    - by Chu Mai
There are three apps run at the same time, 2 clients and 1 server. The whole system should function as following: The client sends an serialized object to server then server receives that object as a stream, finally the another client get that stream from server and deserialize it. This is the sender: TcpClient tcpClient = new TcpClient(); tcpClient.Connect("127.0.0.1", 8888); Stream stream = tcpClient.GetStream(); BinaryFormatter binaryFormatter = new BinaryFormatter(); binaryFormatter.Serialize(stream, event); // Event is the sending object tcpClient.Close(); Server code: TcpListener listener = new TcpListener(IPAddress.Parse("127.0.0.1"), 8888); listener.Start(); Console.WriteLine("Server is running at localhost port 8888 "); while (true) { Socket socket = listener.AcceptSocket(); try { Stream stream = new NetworkStream(socket); // Typically there should be something to write the stream // But I don't knwo exactly what should the stream write } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine("Exception: " + e.Message); Console.WriteLine("Disconnected: {0}", socket.RemoteEndPoint); } } The receiver: TcpClient client = new TcpClient(); // Connect the client to the localhost with port 8888 client.Connect("127.0.0.1", 8888); Stream stream = client.GetStream(); Console.WriteLine(stream); when I run only the sender and server, and check the server, server receives correctly the data. The problem is when I run the receiver, everything is just disconnected. So where is my problem ? Could anyone point me out ? Thanks

  • Referencing java resource files for cold fusion

My java code is: String key =""; String value =""; try { File file = new File("src/test.properties"); FileInputStream fileInput = new FileInputStream(file); Properties properties = new Properties(); properties.load(fileInput); fileInput.close(); Enumeration enuKeys = properties.keys(); while (enuKeys.hasMoreElements()) { key = (String) enuKeys.nextElement(); value = properties.getProperty(key); //System.out.println(key + ": " + value); } } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); key ="error"; } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); key ="error"; } return(key + ": " + value); I have my test.properties file in the project src folder, and make sure it is selected when compiling, when run from eclipse it gives the expected key and value, however when run from CF I get the caught errors. My CF code is simply: propTest = CreateObject("java","package.class"); testResults = propTest.main2(); Is there a special way to reference the .properties file so CF can access it, or do I need to include the file outside the .jar somewhere?

  • Intercept creation of activities when the application is restored

    - by Johan Bilien
Most of our activities access a user-specific model. All these activities inherit from a ModelActivity base class, which provides a getModel() call. When one of these activities detect that the user has signed out (through the AccountManager callback), it sticks to its existing model, but prepares to exit back to the root activity (which is not user-specific) by starting its intent with FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP. If however the user deletes an account while the app is not running, we run into trouble when the activity is restored. Now the activity needs to handle there not being a model, which makes the code more complicated and bug-prone. Ideally we would intercept the application restore process before the activity is created. Then we would check whether we have an account and a model, and if not clear up the saved stack of activities, and restart from our root activity instead of the last saved activity. But as far as I can tell the first place where we can run code is in the onCreate callback of the activity. Is there a way to run some code when the application is restored from background-saving, but before the saved activity is created?

  • VB6 ActiveX exe - what is the proper registration sequence?

    - by Timbuck
I have recently updated a Visual Basic 6 application that is an ActiveX exe, running on Windows XP. I have a couple of testers for this application who have received a copy of the exe and are attempting to run it. However, they are getting an error message "Unexpected error;quitting" when trying to do so. A key difference between their testing and my testing is that on the machines I tested on, I have admin rights and was able to register the application using the appname.exe /regserver command line. Reading the details at MS Support about file registration appears unclear: Visual Basic ActiveX EXE files register themselves the first time you run the EXE. However, you cannot use the EXE as a COM server until it is registered. So does this mean that after the first time the users run the exe that the application should be correctly registered, and the error I am receiving is sign of something other than an incorrectly registered application? Or does this mean that the application will not work properly until such time as the file is explicitly registered using the appname.exe /regserver command line? nb - during a production distribution, the software would be sent out to client PCs using Systems Management Server, which isn't an option for this testing.

    - by Miya
Hi, I have a spinner in my home.class. When I click on the spinner, the process is stopped showing exception that WindowManager$BadTockenException is caught. But the problem is only with calling home.class from main.class. The following are my code. Please tell me why this is happened. main.class public class main extends ActivityGroup { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); Intent intent=new Intent(this, home.class); View view=getLocalActivityManager().startActivity("1", intent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP)).getDecorView(); setContentView(view); } } home.class String[] country={"Please selects","US","INDIA","UK"}; Spinner s2 = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinnerCountry); ArrayAdapter<CharSequence> adapterCountry=new ArrayAdapter(this,android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item,country); adapterCountry.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); s2.setAdapter(adapterCountry); s2.setOnItemSelectedListener(new OnItemSelectedListener() { public void onItemSelected( AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { countryName=country[position]; } public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> parent) { countryName=country[0]; } }); Stack Thread [<1 main] (Suspended (exception WindowManager$BadTokenException)) AlertDialog(Dialog).show() line: 245 AlertDialog$Builder.show() line: 802 Spinner.performClick() line: 260 View$PerformClick.run() line: 9080 ViewRoot(Handler).handleCallback(Message) line: 587 ViewRoot(Handler).dispatchMessage(Message) line: 92 Looper.loop() line: 123 ActivityThread.main(String[]) line: 3647 Method.invokeNative(Object, Object[], Class, Class[], Class, int, boolean) line: not available [native method] Method.invoke(Object, Object...) line: 507 ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run() line: 839 ZygoteInit.main(String[]) line: 597 NativeStart.main(String[]) line: not available [native method] Thank You....

  • Can't delete record via the datacontext it was retrieved from

    - by Antilogic
I just upgraded one of my application's methods to use compiled queries (not sure if this is relevant). Now I'm getting contradicting error messages when I run the code. This is my method: MyClass existing = Queries.MyStaticCompiledQuery(MyRequestScopedDataContext, param1, param2).SingleOrDefault(); if (existing != null) { MyRequestScopedDataContext.MyClasses.DeleteOnSubmit(existing); } When I run it I get this message: Cannot remove an entity that has not been attached. Note that the compiled query and the DeleteOnSubmit reference the same DataContext. Still I figured I'd humor the application and add an attach command before the DeleteOnSubmit, like so: MyClass existing = Queries.MyStaticCompiledQuery(MyRequestScopedDataContext, param1, param2).SingleOrDefault(); if (existing != null) { MyRequestScopedDataContext.MyClasses.Attach(existing); MyRequestScopedDataContext.MyClasses.DeleteOnSubmit(existing); } BUT... When I run this code, I get a completely different contradictory error message: An attempt has been made to Attach or Add an entity that is not new, perhaps having been loaded from another DataContext. This is not supported. I'm at a complete loss... Does anyone else have some insight as to why I can't delete a record via the same DataContext I retrieved it from?

  • How to sort array with undefined elements in IE7 JavaScript

    - by Gene Goykhman
I am having trouble sorting an array that includes undefined elements (a sparse array) in IE7. This works great in Safari and Firefox of course, and I haven't tried other versions of IE, but here is a simple example. <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function runscript() { var myArray = [{id: 2}, undefined, {id: 0}, {id: 1}, {id: 3}, {id: 4}, {id: 5}]; myArray.sort(function compare(a, b) { return a.id - b.id; }); var output = ''; for (loop in myArray) { output += myArray[loop].id + ' '; } alert(output); } </script> </head> <body onLoad="runscript();"> </body> The alert() at the end inexplicably shows 0 2 3 4 5 1. Removing the undefined element from the array correctly sorts it and the alert shows 0 1 2 3 4 5. Is there a way to work around this in IE7 so that I can reliably sort arrays that include undefined elements? I don't care where the undefined elements end up as long as the defined elements are sorted correctly.

  • INSERT INTO ...SELECT syntax error in join operator

    - by user1477356
I'm trying to write a shopping basket into a order + orderline in a sql database from C# asp.net. the orderline will contain a ordernumber, total price, productid, quantity etc. for every item in the basket. The order itself will contain the ordernumber as primary key and will be linked to the different lines through it. Everything worked fine yesterday, but now as i tried to use a SELECT command in the insert into statement to get things more dynamic i'm getting the above described syntax error. Does anybody know what's wrong with this statement: INSERT INTO [order] (klant_id,totaalprijs,btw,subtotaal,verzendkosten) SELECT klant.id , SUM(orderregel.totaalprijs) , SUM(orderregel.btw) , SUM(orderregel.totaalprijs) - SUM(orderregel.btw) , 7.50 FROM orderregel INNER JOIN klant ON [order].klant_id = klant.id WHERE klant.username = 'jerry' GROUP BY id; the ordernumber in the "order" table is on autonumber, in the asp codebehind there is a for each which handles the lines being written for every product, there's an index set on 0 outside of this loop and is heightened with 1 every end of it. The executenonquery of the order is only executed once at the beginning of the first loop and the lines are added after with MAX(ordernumber) as ordernumber. I hope i have provided enough information and somebody is capable of helping me. Thanks in advance!
