• SQL: Need to SUM on results that meet a HAVING statement

  I have a table where we record per user values like money_spent, money_spent_on_candy and the date. So the columns in this table (let's call it MoneyTable) would be: UserId Money_Spent Money_Spent_On_Candy Date My goal is to SUM the total amount of money_spent -- but only for those users where they have spent more than 10% of their total money spent for the date range on candy. What would that query be? I know how to select the Users that have this -- and then I can output the data and sum that by hand but I would like to do this in one single query. Here would be the query to pull the sum of Spend per user for only the users that have spent 10% of their money on candy. SELECT UserId, SUM(Money_Spent), SUM(Money_Spent_On_Candy) / SUM(Money_Spent) AS PercentCandySpend FROM MoneyTable WHERE DATE >= '2010-01-01' HAVING PercentCandySpend > 0.1;

  I have a windows service that runs every 10 seconds ... each time it runs, it takes some test data, modifies it and persists it to the database using the EntityFramework. However, on every second run, when I try to persist the change I get the following Optimistic Concurrency Exception:- Store update, insert, or delete statement affected an unexpected number of rows (0). Entities may have been modified or deleted since entities were loaded. Refresh ObjectStateManager entries I know for a fact that there is nothing else writing to that DB but my service which updates records every 10 seconds. What could be causing the concurrency exception here ?

• Troubleshooting source of heavy resource-usage on a server 2008 running multiple sites

  Hi, I am running about 10 asp.net websites on a hosted virtual server. The server runs Server 2008 - each website is backed by its own database running on SQL server 2008 on the same box. Lately the box has seemed really slow. The only kind of discovery i could think of doing was looking in the task manager, where i can see w3wp and sqlserver.exe jumping to 40% cpu usage every 5-10 seconds. What are the steps i can take to determine which of my websites is taking these resources and or what database is getting hit the most? I have of course ssms installed on the machine as well. As you can tell, my sysadmin skills are very very limited - any help would be much appreciated.

• Are primitive types garbage collected in Android?

  I know this may be a dumb question, but my background is more in c++ and managing my own memory. I am currently cutting down every single allocation that I can from one of my games to try and reduce the frequency of garbage collection and perceived "lag", so for every variable that I create that is an Object (String and Rect for example) I am making sure that I create it before hand in my constructor and not create temporary variables in simple 10 line functions... (I hope that makes sense) Anyways I was working though it some more tonight and I realized that I may be completely wrong about my assumption on garbage collection and primitive types (int, boolean, float) are these primitive type variables that I create in a 10 line function that gets called 20 times a second adding to my problem of garbage collection? So a year ago every few seconds I would see a message in logcat like GC freed 4010 objects / 484064 bytes in 101ms Now I see that message every 15-90 seconds or so... So to rephrase my question: Are primitive types (int, float, boolean, etc) included when seeing this message?

• Which is the most memory leak safe approach.

  I have a table of frequently updated information. This is presented using a container div with a div for each row, each row containing 10 divs. I am using setInterval to call a an asmx webservice that returns some json formatted information. On the success callback I call $("#myContainer").empty(); on the container div and recreate the rows and 10 nested divs for each row's columns. This page may be left to run for a whole day, so I am wary of updating the DOM like this as I have noticed that memory does rise for the browser over time (IE8). The other approach I am considering is to add an idea to the row div. When new results process each item of data, look for the corresponding row, if it exists overwrite the data in each div. If it doesn't exist (new data for example), append the row. What approaches have others used for this sort of long lived pseudo realtime information display. TIA

  I realize that I am attempting to go beyond the "supported" behavior of the manf's released drivers for perl, after all they have only released it in package with x86 .so's. However, since I cannot use their package with x64 Perl on a RHEL 5.4 x86_64 box, and maintaining a seperate install of x86 perl just for this one package, I have made an attempt to get this puppy working thanks to released 64-bit .so's that accompany other driver packages for Advantage. What I have done to this point: download beta 10 DBI drivers, in 32 download beta 10 PHP extension (it contains 32 and x86_64) copy the required DLLs into the ads-lib location (eg /usr/local/ads/lib64) compile the Perl DBI driver with the path to the lib64's .so's Good compilation, good install, good use. The problem is that I always get : failed: [iAnywhere Solutions][Advantage SQL][ASA] Error 6060: Advantage Database Server not available on specified server. axServerConnect (SQL-HY000)(DBD: db_login/SQLConnect err=-1) Does anyone have any ideas?   I am using autobench for benchmarking in ubuntu 8.10 autobench --single_host --host1 localhost --uri1 /solr/admin --low_rate 20 --high_rate 200 --rate_step 20 --num_call 10 --num_conn 5000 --timeout 5 --file bench1.tsv This is the command which I gave. It is taking the default port as 80 and the number of replies and requests are as shown below **Errors: total 5000 client-timo 0 socket-timo 0 connrefused 5000 connreset 0 Errors: fd-unavail 0 addrunavail 0 ftab-full 0 other 0 Zero replies received, test invalid: rate 20 httperf --timeout=5 --client=0/1 --server=localhost --port=80 --uri=/solr/admin --rate=40 --send-buffer=4096 --recv-buffer=16384 --num-conns=5000 --num-calls=10 Maximum connect burst length: 4 Total: connections 5000 requests 0 replies 0 test-duration 124.976 s** But, I want the port to be 8983.   i need to start at a year-month and work out what the date it is in a given week, on a given day within that week.. i.e year: 2009 month: 10 week: 5 day-number: 0 would return 2009-10-25 00:00:00 which is a sunday. Notice week 5, there is no day 0 in week 5 in 2009-10 as the sunday in that logical week is 2009-11-01 00:00:00... so week 5 would always return the last possible date for the given day in the given month.. if you havn't guessed already i'm messing with the c struct TIME_ZONE_INFORMATION (link text) which is pretty crazy if i'm fair... Date math and SQL are something to be admired, sadly its something i have never really dug deep into beyond stripping times. Any help would be greatly appriciated. PS: mssql 2005 btw..

  I am trying to use NHiberanate with NDbUnit but I cannot as NDbUnit tried to load MySql.Data version 1.0.10.1 and NHibernate tries to load version 6.2.2.0 and I can only reference one of them.   I am trying to parse a date that looks like this: 2010-04-05T17:16:00Z This is a valid date per http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3339.txt. The 'Z' literal "imply that UTC is the preferred reference point for the specified time." If I try to parse it using SimpleDateFormat and this pattern: yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ss It will be parsed as a Mon Apr 05 17:16:00 EDT 2010 SimpleDateFormat is unable to parse the string with these patterns: yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ssz yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ssZ I can explicitly set the TimeZone to use on the SimpleDateFormat to get the expected output, but I don't think that should be necessary. Is there something I am missing? Is there an alternative date parser?

• Adding Parsekit To An Xcode Project

  I am trying to add the Parsekit framework to my OSX Xcode project. I've never added a 3rd party framework before and I can't get it to work right. I dragged the included Xcode project into my 'Groups & Files' pane and chose to Add it to my project. I then dragged Parsekit.framework underneath the Link Binary With Libraries heading. Then I double-clicked my target app and added Parsekit as a Direct Dependency. I also added libicucore.dylib as a Linked Library (as it says to do this on their site). Finally, in the Build settings tab of my target info I set the Header Search Paths to /Users/path/to/include/directory and the Other Linker Flags to -ObjC -all_load. Running this as a debug build work fine with no errors. However, when I build my app to release and then try to run the executable created, the app fails to load with the following error message: MyApp cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure myApp works with this version of Mac OS X.   hi, My client is facing some deadlocks while using our application. I want to track all the deadlocks for my research and to solve the deadlocks. i am currently run the SQL profiler for the event deadlock graph to capture the deadlock scenario. the actual problem is that the SQL server gets restarted every day at 2 am, and the profiler stops capturing the events after the restart. by the time i come to office at start the profiler at say 10 am, there could be deadlocks which i could have missed between 2 am and 10 am. so i am looking for a way so i can capture the deadlocks without me starting manually. i thought i could use TRACEON(1204,-1) so that the deadlock events get captured in the SQL Server error logs. But i found that the TRACE capturing too gets disabled after the restart. Is there a way i can capture the deadlocks either by SQL profiler or by using TRACEON without me manually starting the capturing? Nikhil

Where TypeID can be 1,2 or 3 and Gender can be M or F. So what I want is the following: TypeID Gender SUM(Count) 1 M 10 1 F 9 2 M 0 2 F 0 3 M 19 3 F 0 I can think of a few ways to potentially do this, but none of them seem particularly elegant to me. • SSIS DTS Package flat file error - "The file name specified in the connection was not valid"

  I have a pretty basic SSIS package that is attempting to read a file hosted on a share, and import its contents to a database table. The package runs fine when I run it manually within SSIS. However, when I set up a SQL Agent job and attempt to execute it, I get the following error: Executed as user: DOMAIN\UserName. End Error Error: 2010-05-03 10:14:17.75 Code: 0xC001401D Source: DataAnimalImport Description: Connection "Data File Local" failed validation. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 10:14:17 AM Finished: 10:14:17 AM Elapsed: 0.594 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed. This leads me to believe it's a permissions issue, but every attempt I've made to fix it has failed. What I've tried so far: Run as the SQL Agent account (DOMAIN\SqlAgent) - yields same error. DOMAIN\SqlAgent has "Full Control" permissions on both the share and the uploaded file. Set up a proxy account with a different account's credentials (DOMAIN\Account) - yields same error. Like above, "Full Control" permissions were given over the share to that account. Gave "Everyone" full control permissions over the share (temporarily!). Yielded same error. Manually copied the file to a local path and tested with the SQL Agent account. Worked properly. Added an ActiveX script task that would first copy the remotely hosted file to a local path, and then have the DTS package reference the local file. Gave a completely nondescriptive (even by SSIS standards) error when trying to run the script. Set up a proxy account, using my own personal account's credentials - worked correctly. However, this is not an acceptable solution as there are password policies in place on my account, as well as being a bad practice to set things up this way in general. Any ideas? I'm still convinced it's a permissions issue. However, what I've read from various searches more or less says giving the executing account permissions on the share should work. However, this is not the case here (unless I'm missing something obscure when I'm setting up permissions on the share).
