• Entity Framework: Setting EntityReference EntityKey causes exception on save

  I have a table with a ModifiedUserID field that is a foreign key to a User table. In entity framework, I'm loading the first table, but not the users table. I have the user ID of the current user, and would like to set the ModifiedUserID to that value for all entities that have been modified prior to saving. Before calling SaveChanges(), I use the ObjectStateManager to get all modified entities. Since I do not have the user object, but I do have the user ID, I set the EntityReference.EntityKey property as follows: entity.UserReference.EntityKey = New EntityKey("MyContainer.User", "UserID", DatabaseUserID) This works fine, but when I execute SaveChanges(), I receive the following error: A relationship is being added or deleted from an AssociationSet 'FK_Table1_User'. With cardinality constraints, a corresponding 'Table1' must also be added or deleted. Now, I see that setting the EntityReference.EntityKey creates a new AssociationSet entry, but how to I prevent this error?

  I'm developing a MVC3 application and need to select the checkboxes label. In ASP MVC3 you have helper methods which creat a part of the code. So the code for a checkbox looks like this: <input id="Jumping_successleicht" type="checkbox" value="true" name="Jumping_successleicht"> <input type="hidden" value="false" name="Jumping_successleicht"> <label for="Jumping_successleicht"> <span>leicht (4)</span> </label> Now I've thought I can use following code to select the label: input[type=checkbox] + label { background: url("../../Images/Controls/Checkbox.png") no-repeat scroll left center transparent; clear: none; cursor: pointer; margin: 0; padding: 5px 0 4px 24px; } But it does not work. It looks like label and input have to be next to each other. Does any ony have a solution how to solve this problem?

The object return from ObjectQuery, is not normal object, but EntityObject but what if i write : ( notice the var) var q = customers /*EF entity*/ .Select (c => c.Name.ToUpper()) .OrderBy (n => n) it can be determined both to ienumerable or iqueryable : because ObjectQuery Also implements IEnumerable... i dont know if there's any specific info which tell the compiler "use A and not B. A is more specific..." ( there must be...i just cant find it) any help ? how will it know to use A || B ?

  So here's the deal. I'm creating a spider bot for a website that scans all the product pages and records the product data. I'm using C# and the WebClient library to download the HTML string. The site I'm crawling must be specially made because the HTML that is received from WebClient.DownloadString() is different than the HTML that I get when I view the source of the HTML when visiting it on a browser. This seems intentional because the only info I can't get is the price. Does anyone know a workaround for this problem or can anyone explain what is happening? Thanks.

  I'm using the built-in ajax functionality of MVC2. Basically the user types a search query, and on every key press a set of results for the query is shown. This works fine in almost all cases, but sometimes the server is a bit slow with a single response, and thus the result for the next key stroke is returned before the previous. When the previous key stroke result set is finally returned to the client it will overwrite the results for the newer search query that should actually have been shown.   I want to write a custom ValidationAttribute that checks if the given value is unique or not. The problem is that in the edit screen, it is not guaranteed that the user actually changed the value, resulting in a false error. Is there a way to check in my attribute whether the value actually changed? Or can I trigger the attribute only when the value has changed? I'm getting the feeling this requirement maybe just doesn't belong in an attribute?

• C#: Changing the order of columns when binding DataTable to a GridView

  How is it possible to change the displayed order of columns from a DataTable? For example, dataTable "dt" contains two columns "a" and "b". I bind it to a GridView like this: gridView.DataSource = dt; gridView.DataBind(); But I'd like the GridView to display "b" first (leftmost).
