  • Are there any Parsing Expression Grammar (PEG) libraries for Javascript or PHP?

    I find myself drawn to the Parsing Expression Grammar formalism for describing domain specific languages, but so far the implementation code I've found has been written in languages like Java and Haskell that aren't web server friendly in the shared hosting environment that my organization has to live with. Does anyone know of any PEG libraries or PackRat Parser Generators for Javascript or PHP? Of course code generators in any languages that can produce Javascript or PHP source code would do the trick.

  • Establish direct cable connection between Windows 8 PCs in home network

    I'm running two PCs, a desktop and a laptop with Windows 8 Release Preview ("Build 8400"). They are connected to the same router in infrastructure mode, thereby having wireless internet. Due to often file synchronization between the machines I want to establish a cable connection that allows direct file transfer, without needing to use the wireless. When I plug in the cable (normal, not cross-over), I see in "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections": "Ethernet - unidentified Network" on both PCs. Transferring a file between both still only uses the WiFi via the Router. I noticed that when turning off the wifi on one PC, I can set up a shared internet connection that will work via Ethernet-cable, but since sometimes only one PC runs, sometimes the other one, I do not want to have the internet of one machine to be dependent on the other one being switched on. I do not have a crossover-cable, but since I did connect the PCs already successfully (just without both being on the internet), I'm sure that this should also work with a normal ethernet cable.

    Recently, my server's Privoxy rules to block Facebook's spying have failed. How can I block current Facebook spying links? Since soon after [the inception of Facebook's so-called “Open Graph” cross-site tracking widgets][1] (those “Like” bugs on numerous websites), I blocked them by using this rule (in user.action) on our site's Privoxy server: { +block-as-image{People-tracking button.} } .facebook.com/(plugins|widgets)/(like|fan).* That worked fine; the spying bugs no longer appeared on any web page. Today I noticed that they're all making it past that filter [edit: no, they're not]. SOLUTION: The proxy was being silently ignored, though this was not obvious in the client. The above rule continues to work fine.

  • PHP, MySQL: Display only required parts of my website in sister website

    Hi all, Now I have my website built on PHP & Mysql. Consider this like a forum. Now when a user posts a reply in my website 1 (ex. www.website1.com), I want to be able to show the starting thread and it's related replies in a sister website of mine. I want to do this in a way that it does not show the rest of the page & other page contents (like logo etc.). I don't think iframe would be a solution because an iframe would embed the whole page and the users visiting my sister website (totally different domain i.e. www.website2.com) would be able to see all the page contents, like logo etc. I want to avoid that. I want to make them see only limited information from website 1 and only the info. that I intend. I hope that makes sense. In a way, you could say that I am trying to replicate my 1 website, and show only a limited part of it. Users browsing 2nd website can post a reply in the 2nd website and it should automatically be posted & visible to the visitors of the website 1. Users of website 1 should not know that a user of website 2 has posted it. They would feel that some user from website 1 has posted it. Do I have to use 2 separate mysql DB or just 1? I think it would be problematic if I am trying to use different DB. I also feel I might have to face DB connectivity issues as I can connect to only 1 DB at a time. It's basically like users of website1.com should feel that they are replying to users of website1.com & users of website2.com should feel that they are replying to users of website2.com. (I need it this way to bridge the gap between them). At the same time I want to make the front end of the websites different so that they don't feel that they are replying to some other users outside the domain. These websites would be under my control and I will have access to the source code at any time. If I need to change the source code, these changes are welcome. Is this really possible?     I want to redirect a praticular subdomain to the main domain http(s)://dl.example.com/par1/par2 to http(s)://www.example.com/par1/par2 How to achieve the above using .htaccess Why i want to do this: Whenever any user download a file from my server, if the file is huge , then user cannot do any other operation until the file is downloaded completely...so the solution that i have thought is to forward the download request through subdomain so that the browser may continue with rest of the operation.     I've seen quite a few examples of MVVM. I can see that the View should reference the ViewModel. I've seen recently an example of a ViewModel referencing a View, which seems wrong to me, as it would result in tighter coupling. Given that ViewModel is often described as an intermediary between the View and the Model, is there more to the ViewModel than a facade to domain objects? I hope I used the term "facade" correctly here.

    I'm running programs from Eclipse (on Windows) that eat a lot of CPU time. To avoid bogging down my whole machine, I set the priority to Low with the Task Manager. However, this is a cumbersome manual process. Is there a way Eclipse can set this priority automatically? EDIT: I realized that each particular launcher (Java, Python etc) has its own configuration method, so I will restrict this question to the Java domain, which is what I need most.

But can I determine if the real remote object has gone away (e.g. was garbage collected) without probing a call on proxy and catching RemotingException? Is it possible?

  • Indirect load of type fails in PowerShell

    When invoking [System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager]::GetSection("MySection") from within a PowerShell prompt, it throws an exception because the assembly containing the type represented by "MySection" in the app config is unable to be loaded. However, I have previously loaded the assembly containing that type, and I am even able to instantiate the type directly using 'new-object'. How is the ConfigurationManager resolving types such that the assemblies already loaded into the PowerShell app domain are not visible to it?

  • Accessing SVN repository from CCNet (CruiseControl.net) using an Active Directory user

    I have CCNet setup to talk to our SVN repository, which has it's ACLs setup using Active Directory groups. This is working fine, except I'm not happy with having the user name and password of the AD user stored in plain text on the CCNet instance. Is there a way to either encrypt the AD username/password, or get the CCNet service (I've tried running the service as the user and removing the the username/password section of the CCNet/SVN config) to use a domain account outside of the standard config?
