  • Using json_encode on objects in PHP

    Hi, I'm trying to output lists of objects as json and would like to know if there's a way to make objects usable to json_encode? The code I've got looks something like $related = $user->getRelatedUsers(); echo json_encode($related); Right now, I'm just iterating through the array of users and individually exporting them into arrays for json_encode to turn into usable json for me. I've already tried making the objects iterable, but json_encode just seems to skip them anyway.

    Alright, I may just need a terminology update, but I have been playing in Magento and Joomla, and they do references like $mage = new Mage; $mage->block('blockname'); where class Mage through some process I am failing to figure out is calling: class blockname extends something{ } Don't quote me on that code, however I am looking to do something like that where I have a file that I can do $myscript-block('blockname'); and it will load and call the file with class blockname.   • PHP/CSS issue, one account has a fine style, the other is weird

    Hello there, I am currently having the above issue, where on a CMS called phpVMS a CSS displaying front page works fine on the first account, but does not on any other user accounts. This only applies to the frontpage, and all of the tags seem to be closed. The top half of the picture is how it should display and how it displays for user GSM1001. The bottom half is for users GSM1002 upwards. I am really puzzled and I'd appreciate any suggestions. I am happy to post snippets of the code here or on jsFiddle if you require to see it. What I am stuck on is instead of showing seperate weights, I need to show a total weight. For example, if the product was ordered three times, and it weighs 7kg, the code at the moment is showing: Product 7.00 7.00 7.00 How would I make it show the total weight, 21kg?

    Hey guys. I'm running a script that looks for a specific term in a pdf file. Well, actually I'm reading the pdf file as a txt file and look for the term there. The script processes over 20k files. But, unexpectedly, the script breaks after it hits a file that is over 50mb long. It stops. What could the reason be?   • find and replace values in csv using PHP

    I'd think there was a question on this already, but I can't find one. Maybe the solution is too easy... Anyway, I have a csv and want to let the user change the values based on a name. I've already sorted out creating new name+value-pairs using the fopen('a') mode, using jQuery to send the AJAX call with newValue and newName. But say the content looks like this: host|http:www.stackoverflow.com folder|/questions/ folder2|/users/ And now I want to change the folder value. So I'll send in folder as oldName and /tags/ as newValue. What's the best way to overwrite the value? The order in the list doesn't matter, and the name will always be on the left, followed by a |(pipe), the value and then a new-line. My first thought was to read the list, store it in an array, search all the [0]'s for oldName, then change the [1] that belongs to it, and then write it back to a file. But I feel there is a better way around this? Any ideas? Maybe regex?

    I currently have this function to search and replace in a text file. // Input $ect = array('Visssa', 'Lisssa', 'her'); // Placeholders in the file $put = array('lname', 'fname', 'hisher'); // Replace the placeholders $oput = str_replace($put, $ct, 'tmpfile.txt'); This is not the full program but the idea is replace the values found in tmpfile.txt with the ones found in the $etc array. And it works flawlessly. But, what I need to do is get all passed vars (get/post) and then make the arrays so that the var is the value to replace and the value is the value to replace it with. So, if I sent the url http://xyz.com/?lname=tom&ogre=yes All instances of lname in the file would be replaces with tom and all instances of ogre would be replaced with yes. So somehow it just gets any/all variables passed in get/post and then the arrays showed above would cause the var to be replaced by the value in the file.

  • PHP IF statement not taking variable into account!

    I have a tabled view in a while loop, where a user can view information on books. For example, book ISBN, book name, read status... Basically, when the user sets their 'readstatus' to 'complete' I want that specific table row to become grey! The logic is very straight forward, however I can't get my IF statement to recognise this: $readstatus = $_GET['readstatus']; if ($readstatus == 'complete') { echo '<tr class="completed">'; } else if ($readstatus != 'complete') { echo '<tr class="reading">'; } I'm obviously doing something wrong here, but all I need is the CSS class of the table row to change if the value of 'readstatus' = 'complete', if not, then output the default CSS table row color ('reading') Should I be putting $result as the variable or something? I have this coming just before my nested IF statement: $result = mysql_query($sql, $connection) or die ("Couldn't perform query $sql <br />".mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { ?>
