• Aligning left and right in a simple footer

  I'm currently working on a simple footer, and I would like to align one line of text left and the other to the right. This is what I have so far: <div id="footer"> Last Updated: October 15, 2012 <!--left align--> Contact Us Login <!--right align (these will be links)--> </div> #footer { font-family: Arial; font-size: .9em; color: #24ACAE; border-top: 1px solid #24ACAE; margin-left: 90px; margin-right: 90px; padding-top: 5px; } The above code results in the two lines of text being next to each other and I've tried various ways of fixing this such as putting the the 2nd line in a span and aligning right and even putting the lines into a table. None of what I have tried has resulted in both lines being properly aligned. Using a margin-left alone does not work because when the first line is updated and becomes longer, it will push the second line downwards. Relative positioning seems to have the same issue. Hopefully there's something simple that I'm overlooking.

• Actionscript flex sockets and telnet

  I am trying to make a flex application where it gets data from a telnet connection and I am running into a weird problem. To give a brief introduction, i want to read data from a process that exposes it through a socket. So if in the shell i type telnet localhost 8651i receive the xml and then the connection is closed (I get the following Connection closed by foreign host.) Anyway i found a simple tutorial online for flex that essentially is a telnet client and one would expect it to work but everything follows Murphy's laws and nothing ever works! Now i have messages being printed in every event handler and all places that i can think off. When i connect to the socket nothing happens, no event handler is triggered even the connect or close handler and if i do the following the socket.connected returns false! I get no errors, try catch raises no exception. I am at a loss as to whats going wrong? socket.connect(serverURL, portNumber); msg(socket.connected.toString()); Is there something about telnet that i do not know and its causing this to not work. Whats more interesting is why none of the events get fired. Another interesting thing is that i have some python code that does the same thing and its able to get the xml back! The following is the python code that works! def getStats(host, port): sock = socket.socket() sock.connect((host, port)) res = sock.recv(1024*1024*1024, socket.MSG_WAITALL) sock.close() return statFunc(res) So i ask you whats going wrong!!!!!! Is there some inherent problem with how flex handles sockets?

• GTK+: How do I process RadioMenuItem choice without marking it chosen? And vise versa

  In my program, I've got a menu with a group of RadioMenuItem entries. Choosing one of them should trigger a function which can either succeed or fail. If it fails, this RadioMenuItem shouldn't be marked chosen (the previous one should persist). Besides, sometimes I want to set marked item without running the choice processing function.   Is there another way to iterate through only the attributes of a custom class that are not in-built (e.g. __dict__, __module__, etc.)? For example, in this code: class Terrain: WATER = -1 GRASS = 0 HILL = 1 MOUNTAIN = 2 I can iterate through all of these attributes like this: for key, value in Terrain.__dict__.items(): print("{: <11}".format(key), " --> ", value) which outputs: MOUNTAIN --> 2 __module__ --> __main__ WATER --> -1 HILL --> 1 __dict__ --> <attribute '__dict__' of 'Terrain' objects> GRASS --> 0 __weakref__ --> <attribute '__weakref__' of 'Terrain' objects> __doc__ --> None If I just want the integer arguments (a rudimentary version of an enumerated type), I can use this: for key, value in Terrain.__dict__.items(): if type(value) is int: # type(value) == int print("{: <11}".format(key), " --> ", value) this gives the expected result: MOUNTAIN --> 2 WATER --> -1 HILL --> 1 GRASS --> 0 Is it possible to iterate through only the non-in-built attributes of a custom class independent of type, e.g. if the attributes are not all integral. Do, am I inflating it wrongly ? Or is maybe the new TableRow.LayoutParams() part doins omething wrong ?

  I have a table with two child tables. For each record in the parent table, I want one and only one record in one of the child tables -- not one in each, not none. How to I define that? Here's the backstory. Feel free to criticize this implementation, but please answer the question above, because this isn't the only time I've encountered it: I have a database that holds data pertaining to user surveys. It was originally designed with one authentication method for starting a survey. Since then, requirements have changed, and now there are two different ways someone could sign on to start a survey. Originally I captured the authentication token in a column in the survey table. Since requirements changed, there are three other bits of data that I want to capture in authentication. So for each record in the survey table, I'm either going to have one token, or a set of three. All four of these are of different types, so my thought was, instead of having four columns where either one is going to be null, or three are going to be null ( or even worse, a bad mashup of either of those scenarios ), I would have two child tables, one for holding the single authentication token, the other for holding the three. Problem is, I don't know offhand how to define that in DDL. I'm using MySQL, so maybe there's a feature that MySQL doesn't implement that lets me do this.

• PHP: Check if 0?

  Hi, I am using a class which returns me the value of a particular row and cell of an excel spreadsheet. To build up an array of one column I am counting the rows and then looping through that number with a for() loop and then using the $array[] = $value to set the incrementing array object's value. This works great if none of the values in a cell are 0. The class returns me a number 0 so it's nothing to do with the class, I think it's the way I am looping through the rows and then assigning them to the array... I want to carry through the 0 value because I am creating graphs with the data afterwards, here is the code I have. // Get Rainfall $rainfall = array(); for($i=1;$i<=$count;$i++) { if($data->val($i,2) != 'Rainfall') // Check if not the column title { $rainfall[] = $data->val($i,2); } } For your info $data is the excel spreadsheet object and the method $data->val(row,col) is what returns me the value. • Move and rename file in android

  I am trying to copy a file to another folder in the android, but so far, i got no success. I manage to do so with a selected image and when taking a photo, but not with files. I've read and tried several solutions passed by the community (searched over the forum and the internet), but none of it was able to solve my problem when copying. First things first. I added the permissions to my manifest: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" /> after that, before copying a file, i print its filepath and the directory file path: 06-10 11:11:11.700: I/System.out(1442): /mimetype/storage/sdcard/Misc/Javascript erros for Submit and Plan buttons in IE.doc 06-10 11:11:11.710: I/System.out(1442): /storage/sdcard/mywfm/checklist-files both exists: to copy the file to the expected folder I used the FileUtils: try { FileUtils.copyFile(selectedFile, dir); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } The problem is: I get no exception and the file isn't there. • How to track a projects extraneous quirks

  Hello, It's possible that the answer to this question may just be standard bug tracking software like jira or fogbugz, but I'm kind of hoping someone out there knows a better system for what I'm describing. My most current project is requiring a lot of setup quirkiness to get into a position where I can actually start a coding section. For example: A series of convoluted internal company commands before I can insitgate an SSH. Making sure any third party classes that make external calls have internal company proxy options setup - while also making sure these setting wont be set up when installed on a production environment Making sure the proxy is set before trying to install pear packages. Other similar things, mostly involving internal IT security and getting it to work with modules and packages. Individually none of these things is a huge deal, and I've written extensive notes to myself regarding exact commands and aditions I've made, but they're currently in a general text document and it's going to be hard to remember exactly where what I need is far down the line. We also have several new staff starting soon and I' rather give them an easier time of setting up their programming environments. Like I said, they aren't 'programming quirks' exactly, but just the constant fiddling that comes about before programming starts in earnest. Any thoughts on the best way to documents these things for my own and future generations sanity?

• Select All in Javascript (Firefox extension) not working right

  I'm having some problems with a select all/ none function. (I didn't write it, I'm trying to fix it!) It currently looks like this: rsfindmod.SelAll = function(){ document.getElementById("ListBox").selectAll(); document.getElementById("ListBox").focus(); } It's being used on a dynamically generated set of links, so there's no set number of items in this listbox. This seems to work most of the time, but randomly it only selects those which are visible at the time. Scrolling the list or hitting the button again seems to normally make it work as expected. My first (Obvious?) thought was to replace the function entirely with the one from this link for testing: http://viralpatel.net/blogs/2009/06/listbox-select-all-move-left-right-up-down-javascript.html Trouble is that I can't get this one to work whatsoever! This gives me the error that listbox.options is not defined Any thoughts please? I'm by no means certain whether it's the original function at fault, or something in the generation of this listbox.

• Matching up text in 2 different columns in a table?

  Hey guys, I have recently been working on a pastebin script (for fun) and I've come across a problem that I can't seem to solve in CSS. I have a table with 2 columns. 1 column is used to display the line numbers and the 2nd column is used to display the code. I can't seem to get the numbers match up with the lines in the code so it looks all weird (example: www.zamnproductions.com/paste.php?id=32). • Script (AJAX or JS) does not work properly in IE8

• C read X bytes from a file, padding if needed

  I am trying to read in an input file 64 bits at a time, then do some calculations on those 64 bits, the problem is I need to convert the ascii text to hexadecimal characters. I have searched around but none of the answers posted seem to work for my situation.   I would like to assign a static function to a variable so that I can send it around as a parameter. • Maximized MFC window has dead region at the top

  I'm trying to make a MFC window fullscreen whenever it is maximized. This window is being used to draw OpenGL content. So far it works fine—it fills the entire screen with the exception of the taskbar—but there's a dead black region at the top of the screen, 62 pixels in height. It's pretty darn close to the height of the Windows 7 taskbar, but it pretty much stays the same regardless of if the taskbar is on autohide or on a different side of the screen. When I get a CWind::OnSize callback, the height that is given is 988, which is 62 pixels short of the actual screen height (1050). I've tried to manually set the window height to 1050 with SetWindowPos, I've tried to give Windows the screen dimensions in CWnd::OnGetMinMaxInfo, and I've tried to give the screen dimensions to glViewport instead of the 988 pixels that I'm being given. None of these seem to work. I'm accomplishing the fullscreening with a call to… ModifyStyle(0, WS_MINIMIZEBOX | WS_MAXIMIZEBOX | WS_SYSMENU | WS_CAPTION | WS_POPUP, 0); …in the SIZE_MAXIMIZED CWnd::OnSize callback, which works fine, except for this dead region. I don't know if it's an OpenGL thing or a Win32 thing or a MFC thing. The GetClientRect function for my window reports the false 988 height. The same OpenGL rendering code works fine in my Mac OS X build. Curiously enough, I have gotten the dead region to move around a bit when I play with the taskbar (autohiding it, moving it around the screen, etc.). I've gotten the dead area to shrink to about half—not sure if the other half went to the bottom of the window or not.

  Hi all, I think I've got an understanding problem of GTK. My simple application has a stream of images and I'd like to display them within my GTK Window. I guess gtk_container_remove and gtk_container_add might be stupid to use for this? But when i removed my breakpoint both the methods in the if statement are executed but message from the first method is sent and not from the second method.... Any suggestion?

Now i want each comment to be submitted via jquery ajax but each time its taking into account only the first form . • Satisfying indirect references at runtime.

  I'm using C# and VS2010. I have a dll that I reference in my project (as a dll reference not a project reference). That dll (a.dll) references another dll that my project doesn't directly use, let's call it b.dll. None of these are in the GAC. My project compiles fine, but when I run it I get an exception that b.dll can't be found. It's not being copied to the bin directory when my project is compiled. What is the best way to get b.dll into the bin directory so that it can be found at run time. I've thought of four options. Use a post compile step to copy b.dll to the bin directory Add b.dll to my project (as a file) and specify copy to output directory if newer Add b.dll as a dll reference to my project. Use ILMerge to combine b.dll with a.dll I don't like 3 at all because it makes b.dll visible to my project, the other two seem like hacks. Am I missing other solutions? Which is the "right" way? Would a dependency injection framework be able to resolve and load b.dll?
