    This feels like a completely basic question, but, for the life of me, I can't seem to work out an elegant solution. Basically, I am doing a Linq Query creating a new object from the query. In the new object, I want to generate a auto-incremented number to allow me to keep a selection order for later use (named Iter in my example). Here is my current solution that does what I am needing: Dim query2 = From x As DictionaryEntry In MasterCalendarInstance _ Order By x.Key _ Select New With {.CalendarId = x.Key, .Iter = 0} For i = 0 To query2.Count - 1 query2(i).Iter = i Next Is there a way to do this within the context of the linq query (so that I don't have to loop the collection after the query)?   • NHibernate, could not load an entity when column exists in the database.

    This is probably a simple question to answer but I just can't figure it out. I have a "Company" class with a many-to-one to "Address" which has a many to one to a composite id in "City". When I load a "Company" it loads the "Address", but if I call any property of "Address" I get the error: {"could not load an entity: [IDI.Domain.Entities.Address#2213][SQL: SELECT address0_.AddressId as AddressId13_0_, address0_.Street as Street13_0_, address0_.floor as floor13_0_, address0_.room as room13_0_, address0_.postalcode as postalcode13_0_, address0_.CountryCode as CountryC6_13_0_, address0_.CityName as CityName13_0_ FROM Address address0_ WHERE address0_.AddressId=?]"} The inner exception is: {"Invalid column name 'CountryCode'.\r\nInvalid column name 'CityName'."} What I don't understand is that I can run the query in sql server 2005 and it works, furthermore both those columns exist in the address table.   • Vizio costar mediatomb video loads but does not play

    I setup MediaTomb on 12.04 to stream videos using these inst The Vizio costar I am using as the player sees the server, and starts to load the MP4 video. The video however does not play, the player just exits after a few seconds. There is no mention of errors in the media tomb log. Update- I installed VLC to test the server and it works fine. Perhaps I need a different video server for the costar. I also tested the video by playing it via usb thumbdrive.

    I could use some assistance to trying to get a Belkin N600 DB Wireless Dual-Band USB Adapter to work on a Dell Inspiron 1525 with 64-Bit Ubuntu 12.04. The device won't work out of the box. Tried to go the NDISWrapper route, but using the GUI, received the following message: Module could not be loaded. Error was: FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found. Is the ndiswrapper module installed? Despite the fact that it showed up listed in the GUI, the device still did not function properly. How should I proceed from here?

    While other questions have tackled the broader category of sequences and modules, I ask this very specific question: "What naming convention do you use for dictionaries and why?" Some naming convention samples I have been considering: # 'value' is the data type stored in the map, while 'key' is the type of key value_for_key={key1:value1, key2,value2} value_key={key1:value1, key2,value2} v_value_k_key={key1:value1, key2,value2} Don't bother answering the 'why' with "because my work tells me to", not very helpful. The reason driving the choice is more important. Are there any other good considerations for a dictionary naming convention aside from readability?

  • Using constructor to load data in subsonic3?

    I'm getting an error while trying to load an record through the constructor. The constructor is: public Document(Expression<Func<Document,bool>> expression); and i try to load a single item in like this var x = new Document(f=>f.publicationnumber=="xxx"); publicationnumber isn't a key but tried making an it an unique key and still no go.. Am i totally wrong regarding the use of the constructor? and can someone please tell me how to use that constructor?   • Entity Framework - SaveChanges with GUID as EntityKey

    I have a SQL Server 2008 database table that uses uniqueidentifier as a primary key. On inserts, the key is generated on the database side using the newid() function. This works fine with ADO.NET. But when I set up this table as an entity in an Entity Framework 4 model, there's a problem. I am able to query the entity just fine, but when creating a new entity and invoking SaveChanges() on the context, the generated uniqueidentifier on the database is all zeros. I understand there was an issue with EF v1 where this scenario did not work, requiring creating the GUID on the client prior to calling SaveChanges. However, I had read in many places that they were planning to fix this in EF 4. My question -- is this scenario (DB-side generation of uniqueidentifier) still not supported in EF4? Are we still stuck with generating the GUID on the client?

    My object graph is simple. I've a feedentry object that stores info about RSS feeds and a relationship called Tag that links to "TagValues" object. Both the relation (to and inverse) are to-many. i.e, a feed can have multiple tags and a tag can be associated to multiple feeds. I referred to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/844162/how-to-do-core-data-queries-through-a-relationship and created a NSFetchRequest.   • "Loading operating system... boot error" when booting from live CD

    I'm having a problem installing Ubuntu 12.10 on a new drive. I was running Windows7 on my SSD but when the drive crashed, I decided to use that as an excuse to make the switch to Ubuntu. I've been experimenting with it on my old laptop until I got my SSD replaced under warranty. Now I have my SSD back and want to install Ubuntu on my desktop machine. I used UNetbootin to make a bootable flash drive. I then I went into my BIOS and made sure USB loaded before the hard drive. However, when I try to load it I get an error that says: Loading operating system ... boot error I know the flash drive works because if I reboot my laptop or my other Windows PC with the flash drive and it loads into Ubuntu...just when I try to do it in the PC with no OS currently on the drive.

  • Attempted to dual boot with Windows and now can only run Ubuntu

    Very recently, I decided to attempt to dual boot Ubuntu with my already installed windows 8. Everything worked perfectly, I manually set up disk partitions (this is all on 1 hard drive), and it loaded up Ubuntu fine. HOWEVER, now when I try to load up my computer it only has 2 options in the boot menu and both just load up Windows (both were something related to hard disk). I also can only boot from legacy hard disk things. (I already only was able to aside from my USB that I installed Windows from) The Windows files are still accessible from Ubuntu, but I cannot just load Windows. There is no option to. I also don't have the 2 buttons for each operating system I was expecting. I can only select the thing to load from BIOS. So, my question is, how do I load the Windows partition on my hard drive? I'm sorry if I'm a bit clueless I am just new to both Linux and dual-booting.

    What Filesystem should I use for an external USB harddrive (500GB), with possibility to share with a Mac and Windows systems, for example at the office. Now it is NTFS but back in the day the NTFS support was not stable under Linux and I think it is not supported on a Mac. I would just use FAT32, but it has 4GB file size limitation, do I overlooked any other option? I looked here: filesystem types for partitions but a Mac is not mentioned. edit Windows is the least important, I am not sure if I need Windows support at all. So what would I use just for Linux and Mac?

  • SSLException: Keystore does not support enabled cipher suites

    I want to implement a small android application, that works as SSL Server. After lot of problems with the right format of the keystore, I solved this and run into the next one. My keystore file is properly loaded by the KeyStore class. But when I try to open the server socket (socket.accept()) the following error is raised: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Could not find any key store entries to support the enabled cipher suites. I generated my keystore with this command: keytool -genkey -keystore test.keystore -keyalg RSA -keypass ssltest -storepass ssltest -storetype BKS -provider org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider -providerpath bcprov.jar with the Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy for Java SE6 applied to my jre6. I got a list of supported ciphers suites by calling socket.getSupportedCipherSuites() that prints a long list with very different combinations. But I don't know how to get a supported key. I also tried the android debug keystore after converting it to BKS format using portecle but get still the same error. Can anyone help and tell how I can generate a key that is compatible with one of the cipher suites?   • Choosing between Berkeley DB Core and Berkeley DB JE

    I'm designing a Java based web-app and I need a key-value store. Berkeley DB seems fitting enough for me, but there appears to be TWO Berkeley DBs to choose from: Berkeley DB Core which is implemented in C, and Berkeley DB Java Edition which is implemented in pure Java. The question is, how to choose which one to use? With web-apps scalability and performance is quite important (who knows, maybe my idea will become the next Youtube), and I couldn't find easily any meaningful benchmarks between the two. I have yet to familiarize with Cores Java API, but I find it hard to believe that it could be much worse than Java Editions, which seems to be quite nice. If some other key-value store would be much better, feel free to recommend that too. I'm storing smallish binary blobs, and keys probably will be hashes of the data, or some other unique id.

  • Easiest way to decrypt PGP-encrypted files from VBA (MS Access)

    I need to write code that picks up PGP-encrypted files from an FTP location and processes them. The files will be encrypted with my public key (not that I have one yet). Obviously, I need a PGP library that I can use from within Microsoft Access. Can you recommend one that is easy to use? I'm looking for something that doesn't require a huge amount of PKI knowledge. Ideally, something that will easily generate the one-off private/public key pair, and then have a simple routine for decryption.

How to make it more efficient? I will not add a class to the thead and tfoot for googles's sake.

  • In NHibernate, how do I combine two DetachedCriteria instances

    My scenario is this: I have a base NHibernate query to run of the form (I've coded it using DetachedCriteria , but describe it here using SQL syntax): SELECT * FROM Items I INNER JOIN SubItems S on S.FK = I.Key The user interface to show the results of this join allows the user to specify additional criteria: Say: I.SomeField = 'UserValue'. Now, I need the final load command to be: SELECT * FROM Items I INNER JOIN SubItems S on S.FK = I.Key WHERE I.SomeField = 'UserValue' My problem is: I've created a DetachedCriteria with the 'static' aspect of the query (the top join) and the UI creates a DetachedCriteria with the 'dynamic' component of the query. I need to combine the two into a final query that I can execute on the NHibernate session. DefaultCriteria.Add() takes an ICriterion (which are created using the Expression class, and maybe other classes I don't know of which could be the solution to my problem). Does anyone know how I might do what I want?

  • Plex Media Server: Won't find media External Hard Drive

    I am attempting to turn an older PC into a home media server with Ubuntu 12.04 using Plex Media Server. I have a newer WD 2 TB external USB HD with all of my media on it. I can not for the life of me figure out why Plex will not recognize the files on this hard drive. It shows the external as there, Ubuntu shows the files and allows me to play them, view them, etc. Plex shows the name "External". But when I click it, it is 100% empty and shows nothing to add. I can access the files on the external through file sharing just fine, on my windows computers but would love to be able to use Plex for streaming with our Roku. I am fairly new to Ubuntu, I have used Plex with the same HD on Windows and it worked fine. I have read multiple articles on this and nothing seems to be doing the trick. How can I solve this?

  • Why does Ubuntu (and other ubuntu based distros like lubuntu and linux mint) randomly shutdown on my laptop?

    I have a lenovo g555 laptop and whenever I try and boot a ubuntu based distro off a usb, it randomly shuts off my PC (Not like a normal shutdown with shutdown loading screen but a like a sudden hard power off). This problem occurs even if I have installed the distro on my harddrive. In the past I've been able to use the distro for 10 min or so before it would it would do this. Now with the latest distros, It randomly pwers off even before it has fully booted up. My hardware specs are on this website.

I am able to look up an individual record via the GQL admin interface with a query like: SELECT * FROM Pet where __key__ = KEY( 'Pet','Fido') But I'm having trouble figuring out how to do a batch version of this via JDO. What am I doing wrong?

  • Ubuntu 11.10 cannot boot, gets stuck at BusyBox

    I am using Ubuntu 11.10. An hour ago I had my laptop Sony Vaio VPCEB1S1E running. I saw there are updates to install and I installed them. I turned off the laptop and now when I turn it on it loads until BusyBox v1.18.4 appears. I've seen suggestions for solving this on askubuntu. I booted Puppy Linux from USB and repaired the partition where the Ubuntu is installed. I rebooted but it did not help. I saw other suggestions like writing "exit" at the BusyBox prompt. This didn't help either. I love the Ubuntu OS, but these days I get problems like this while booting. The last times I could repair it with GParted, but then it wasn't a problem with BusyBox, it was some other error, like "cannot boot /". The same problem had occurred on Ubuntu 10.10 and there I had repaired it with GParted.

  • Map problem when passing it as model to view in grails

    Hi, In a controller, I have populated a map that has a string as key and a list as value; in the gsp, I try to show them like this: <g:each in="${sector}" var="entry" > <br/>${entry.key}<br/> <g:each in="${entry.value}" var="item" > ${item.name}<br/> </g:each> </g:each> The problem is that item is considered as string, so I get the exception Error 500: Error evaluating expression [item.name] on line [11]: groovy.lang.MissingPropertyException: No such property: nombre for class: java.lang.String Any hints on how to fix it other than doing the find for the item explicitly in the gsp ?
