• Suitable web framework for the following scenario

  I have the following scenario: I have a view in an Oracle server and all Iwant is to show that view in a web browser, along with an input field or two for basic filtering. No users, no authentication, just this view maybe with a column or two linking to a second page for master detail viewing. The children are just string descriptions of the columns of the master that contain IDs. No inserts or updates. The question is which is the JAVA based web framework of choice that can accomplish the above in the minimum amount of code lines code time(subjective but also kind of objective if someone has expirience with more than one or two frameworks) configuration effort deployment effort and requirements. dependencies and mem footprint Also: 6. Oracle APEX is not an option. 3,4 and 5 are maybe the same in the sense that they are everything except the functionality coding. I want something that I can compile, deploy by just FTPing to the database host, run and forget. (e.g. For the deployment aspect, Hudson way comes in mind (java -jar hudson.war and that's all)). Also: 3,4 have priority over 1 and 2. (Explanation with a rant: I dont mind coding a lot as long as it is application code and not "why the fuck do we still use javascript over http for everything" code) Thanks.

• Adding UIView on top of all views dynamically during runtime?

  Team, I am trying to bring a menu in top of all visible views during runtime. This menu should be easily addable and removable dynamically in certain conditions. To do this, I have tried adding a button view to the UIWindow as a subview during runtime. Also I have tried to place this button in the root view controller, but no luck again. Edit - Note: This code is not from a UIViewController. I am trying to build a library this will be in that library code. Use case be like you could post NSNotification to enable and disable this menu dynamically during runtime. Please suggest. Thanks !

  Broad design/architecture question. If you have nested components in a GUI, what's the most common way for those components to interact with data? For example, let's say a component receives a click on one of its buttons to save data. Should the save request be delegated up that component's ancestors, with the uppermost ancestor ultimately passing the request to a controller? Or are models/datastores in a GUI application typically singletons, so that a component at any level of a hierarchy can directly get/set data? Or is a controller injected as a dependency down the hierarchy of components, so that any given component is only one intermediary away from the datastore/model?

• How can I diff against a revision of a single file using the default Git GUI tools?

  I want to view the history of a single file, and then compare a single revision from that history against the current version. On the command line, this is easy: Run: git log -- <filename> Locate the version you want to compare, Run: git diff <commitid> -- <filename> But how can this be done in the default Git gui tools, git gui and gitk? I know of two methods using gitk, but they're both horribly clunky: Either: Select the New View option from the View menu, Type in the full path to your file into the box labelled Enter files and directories to include, one per line, Locate the version you want to compare by looking at the highlighted items in the top pane, and click on it to select it, Right-click on the current version and select Diff selected - this, Or: Select Tree in the bottom right-hand pane, Locate the file you want to look at, right-click on it, and select Highlight this only, Locate the version you want to compare by looking at the highlighted items in the top pane, and click on it to select it, Right-click on the current version and select Diff selected - this, Click on the file in the bottom right-hand pane to jump to it in the diff output, or scroll manually. • What's a good way to format AJAX responses? Or, using Django templating with AJAX

  In some of the code I'm working on, the author max AJAX calls to a Django view that returns JSON. Once the JSON is retrieved, it'll be injected into the page with a function that looks like this (note, this is a simplification, but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at here): function build_event_listing(events) { var html = ''; for(int i = 0; i < events.length; i++) { event = events[i]; html += "<h2>" + event.title + "</h2>\n"; html += "<p>" + event.description + "</p>"; html += "Click <a href='/event/view/" + event.id + "'>here<a> for more info."; } events_div.html(html); } I really don't like this approach. To change the look of each event listing, the designer would have to modify that ugly JS. I'd much rather make use of Django's templating system, but I'm wondering how I can do this? • Add Page Parameter in Zend Framework Doesn't Work

  Hello guys, I've been trying to figure this out these days. I got a problem when I want to add 'page' parameter in my URL for my pagination. This is my router -addRoute('budi',new Zend_Controller_Router_Route(':lang/budi',array('controller' = 'budi', 'action' = 'index', 'page' = 1), array('lang'=$s, 'page' = '\d+'))) -addRoute('budi1',new Zend_Controller_Router_Route(':lang/budi/page/:page',array('controller' = 'budi', 'action' = 'index', 'page' = 1), array('lang'=$s, 'page' = '\d+'))) Then I access my URL http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi but when I hover on my pagination links, the page parameter doesn't appear. The URL is still http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi but if I enter same URL with index in the end like this one http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi/index or like this one http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi/page/1 the page parameter appears perfectly when I click the page 2 link http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi/index/page/2 Actually, I don't want include 'index' or 'page' at first in my URL. Anyway, I use default pagination.phtml template from Zend. Anyone please help me to solve this problem? Thank you very much

• How to display controllers with proper aligning in iPhone screen ?

  I have a issue of displaying information in iPhone screen. Case is as follows. I crated a view-based application in Xcode name as myView. Then open myViewViewController.xib interface builder, change back groung color and added label at top-let (0, 0) of the view. Then I add new file named as myView2ViewController, which is subclass of UIViewController and corresponding XIB also generated. Open myView2ViewController in IB and added a label at top-left as previous. Also changed the background color. In the "applicationDidFinishLaunching" of AppDeligate do following myView2ViewController *mView = [[myView2ViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"myView2ViewController" bundle:nil]; [window addSubview:mView.view]; When I run the application, it is shown as upper part of the Label is sheared. It seems as whole UI has been moved 20 px upper (Because, there is a horizontal space in the bottom). I guess this is due to some positioning. But still I could not found any way to fix it. Hope somebody will help me to identify this issue !!

• Calling a function in a JavaScript file with Selenium IDE

  So, I'm running these Selenium IDE tests against a site I'm working on. Everything about the tests themselves is running fine, except I would like to do a bit of clean-up once I'm done. In my MVC3 Razor based site, I have a JavaScript file with a function that gets a JsonResult from a Controller of mine. That Controller handles the database clean-up that Selenium IDE otherwise couldn't handle. However, I'm having a hard time finding any sort of documentation on how to do this. I know I can do JavaScript{ myJavascriptGoesHere } as one of the Values for a line in the test, but I can't seem to find a way to tell it to go find my clean-up function. Is it even possible for Selenium IDE to do this sort of thing? If it comes down to it, I can just make a separate View to handle the clean-up, but I'd really like to avoid that if possible. Thanks!

  Im pretty new to gui programming so i've been reading through every post on this site about swing and design. Whats been answered over and over again is that one should have a class which handles all the action. Like this: (GUI being some JFrame) Now, this works great for one-way actions, like OpenDialog. But the actions for buttons in DialogA and B will have to have access to all the components (there will be many) in its dialog, and the controller. This is where im stuck. The only sane way i can see is to put it in DialogA/B but i would then need to pass the controller all the way down, through classes that dont even need it, and it'll get all spaghetti. Really dont want that. Someone must have encountered this problem before. So where should i put this Action? Or should i just drop the whole design?

(Note it is a GET): public ActionResult MyView(MyDTO dto) { return View(dto) } The problem is that the instance of MyObject is coming back as null, where val1 and val2 have data. Has anyone run across this?

• UIWebView loading/randering error after resize

  I have a screen with 2 UIWebView. The user can drag the views left and right to make the right and left view bigger (respectively) and the other one smaller (like UISplitView but customized and self made). I'm loading .html pages from strings and local .css files. After resizing the UIWebView If I load a new page there will be a black or white stripe on the right side of the UIWebView. This stripe is part of the web view (not a space between the views), and if I scroll the webView up and then down, the stripe will vanish and the page will be presented correctly. This issue occurs only in iOS 6 and only on the device (on the simulator it doesn't occur). Some notes: - The .css file contains elements with fixed position. Changing to absolute position didn't solve the problem but changed it: the black stripre occured during the drag. - As slower the drag is, the stripe will be bigger. - After resize the page is presented correctly, only when I load a new page the stripe is shown. - The time between resizing the web view and loading a page doesn't matter, it can be straight away or after couple of minutes. Now, as a workaround I create a new UIWebView and copy the old properties to the new. But than I need to reload the presented page which make a white blink... Any idea why does it happens, and how to fix it?

One with this date is "file_name", and I want to save this value in controller at variable. I try with: $image_name= $data['file_name']; But this not working. I use CodeIginter 2.1.3 framework.   I see that this question has been asked a lot, however I haven't found anything yet that solves the problem I'm having. Obviously i'm using the Entity Framework to perform an update to a record. Once the updates are complete, however, whenever I try to save I get the following error message: An object with the same key already exists in the objectstatemanager At first I was passing in a collection object from the view that contained a copy of the the ZipCodeTerritory model object zipToUpdate. I changed the code by pulling this object out and just sending in the relevant fields instead. However, I'm still getting the same error. What's also weird is the first time I run this code, it works fine. Any attempt after that I get the error.   Hi Using Codeigniter, how do I get and display, from my controller, all of the text a user entered into a text field on a view? I only get the first word, and nothing after the spaces. • Rails from with better url

  wow, switching to rest is a different paradigm for sure and is mainly a headache right now. view <% form_tag (businesses_path, :method => "get") do %> <%= select_tag :business_category_id, options_for_select(@business_categories.collect {|bc| [bc.name, bc.id ]}.insert(0, ["All Containers", 0]), which_business_category(@business_category) ), { :onchange => "this.form.submit();"} %> <% end %> controller def index @business_categories = BusinessCategory.find(:all) if params[:business_category_id].to_i != 0 @business_category = BusinessCategory.find(params[:business_category_id]) @businesses = @business_category.businesses else @businesses = Business.all end respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @businesses } end end routes map.resources What I want to to is get a better url than what this form is presenting which is the following: http://localhost:3000/businesses?business_category_id=1 Without rest I would have do something like http://localhost:3000/business/view/bbq bbq as permalink or I would have done http://localhost:300/business_categories/view/bbq and get the business that are associated with the category but I don't really know the best way of doing this. So the two questions are what is the best logic of finding a business by its categories using the latter form and number two how to get that in a pretty url all through restful routes in rails.

• beforeSave() returned some error

  Hi all, I got a simple input text field in a HTML form: <input type="text" name="data[User][pswd]" id="data[User][pswd]"> The scripts for the Controller's action that captured the data is as follows: function register(){ $temp = $this->data; if(strlen($temp['User']['pswd'])>6) { if ($this->User->save($this->data)) { $this->Session->setFlash('Data was Saved'); } } } // this script works And in the Model controller, I got these lines of codes: function beforeSave() { $raw = $this->data; if(strlen($raw['User']['pswd'])>6){ md5($raw['User']['pswd']); } return true; } // this script failed to work The data was stored into the Database successfully but it was not undergone any MD5 encryption. I think that there must be some errors in the Model's script because I saw some errors flashed after the data was saved, but the screen that showed the errors immediately refreshed in a second after the data was saved successfully and I couldn't see the detail of the errors that caused the problem. Could you help me out please?
