• How can I scrape the current webpage with php/javascript?

  I have made the following webpage for generating interactive todo lists: http://robert-kent.com/todo/todo.php Basically, the user pastes a numbered todo list and each task is placed into it's own div with a unique id. Users can add notes to the tasks (done with javascript) and can click the green check when the task is done to hide it. I'd like to add an Export button which would generate a report of which tasks were completed and which were not, along with the user-entered notes. After a bit of searching I understand that what I want to do is scrape the page, but I haven't the faintest idea of the best way to do it. Many of the articles and tutorials I have found with Google involve scraping other sites and don't really explain how I could iterate over each div on the page.   I know I've done this before years ago, but I can't remember the syntax, and I can't find it anywhere due to pulling up tons of help docs and articles about "bulk imports". Here's what I want to do, but the syntax is not exactly right... please, someone who has done this before, help me out :) INSERT INTO dbo.MyTable (ID, Name) VALUES (123, 'Timmy'), (124, 'Jonny'), (125, 'Sally') I know that this is close to the right syntax. I might need the word "BULK" in there, or something, I can't remember. Any idea?

  Hi Friends, I want to do the following and am kind of stuck on these for a few days.... 1) I have used helloItemizedOverlay to add about 150 markers and it gets very very slow.....any idea what to do ? I was thinking about threads....(handler) ... 2) I was trying to draw poly lines ( I have encoded polylines, but have managed to decoded those) that move when I move the map..... 3) I was looking for some sort of a timer class that executes, say, every 1 minute or so.... 4) I was also looking for ways to clear the Google map from all the markers/lines etc....   Hi, I have to run a tool on around 300 directories. Each run take around 1 minute to 30 minute or even more than that. So, I wrote a python script having a loop to run the tool on all directories one after another. my python script has code something like: for directory in directories: os.popen('runtool_exec ' + directory) But when I run the python script I get the following error messages repeatedly: .. tail: write error: Broken pipe date: write error: Broken pipe .. All I do is login on a remote server using ssh where the tool, python script, and subject directories are kept. When I individually run the tool from command prompt using command like: runtool_exec directory it works fine. "broken pipe" error is coming only when I run using the python script. • multiplayer / visitors interactions with Ruby on Rails?

  I want to have interactions between visitors on my site. Imagine a chat room. It basically involves getting the data from everyone and sending it to everyone, this can be done by ajax and what not but I wonder if there is something already there in the wild that would do the heavy lifting for me. I have to say that I got very lost once I start programming Ajax, dont even know how to make tests for it... I have found the Q42multiplayer library that looks like what I want but they use C# as backend. There is something similar or any other multiplayer thingy I can get some idea or rip some code from (the whole thing will be opensource) for Ruby on Rails?

• realistically speaking, could a seasoned .net developer enter the java space and land a job?

  I've been working with .net since 2001, and I am considering making a move into the java space. I find that java has so many more mature tools (hibernate is more mature, spring framework, established patters/designs, containers, distributed cache frameworks, etc etc.) I have been doing .net, and just recently I have been getting into design patterns, ORMS, etc. and it just seems the .net side of things are not as mature. Yes the trend going forward looks great as more and more are getting into this design strategy etc. I don't want this to get into a flame war, but I read that its not about the framework/stack, but the tools around it are what make the difference. And to me Java seems to be the winner. Anyhow, the real question here is, could I realistically get into shape in 6 months? i.e. Someone would consider hiring me, and not at a junior dev pay rate? Is this a bad idea?

• ie8 playing funny with list-style-position: inside

  Ok, So problem here... when using list-style-position:inside in IE8 the first like is indented but every line after that is not. So the new lines appear under the bullet. This is fine, but when I use a list with that css applied with an a tag within the li then the text automatically gets pushed to the second line, and the first line is empty. When I remove the a tag from the li then it jumps back up. Any idea on why this might be or is this a bug in the ie8 world or do I just need to double check my css? Any insights would be much appreciated.

  I'm not sure whether or not this is the appropriate way of doing this, but I was wondering what's the best way to approach a relationship to a value in a list with Core Data? For example, say you have a 'person' entity. Each person can have a different 'hair color'. I'm trying to basically define the hair colors in my data model and allow the 'person' entity to have a relationship to their given 'hair color. Is this possible? Good idea or bad?   Hello Stackers Does anyone have an idea on how to include or input the page numbers in the excel sheet generated using C# code. I use the libraries available in Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel to generate the file. However by default in the output i cannot see the page numbers. I know to enable this via excel options (View -- Header and Footer ...) but i want to automate this via C#. Is this possible, if yes kindly share the snippet for the same. Thanks Constant Learner

Point (x, y) lies inside of one these pieces. Problem: Write a fast algorithm that will find a point with integer coordinates in the same piece as (x,y) that is closest to the cross point of the two given lines. • Get drive label in C#

  When I use System.IO.DriveInfo.GetDrives() and look at the .VolumeLabel property of one of the drives, I see "PATRIOT XT", which is indeed the drive's volume label. If I open "My Computer", instead I see "TrueCrypt Traveler Disk", and I can't seem to find any way to programmatically retrieve that value as none of the DriveInfo properties hold that value. I also tried querying the information via WMI's Win32_LogicalDisk, but no properties contained that value there either. So any idea what the label My Computer uses is called, and more importantly, how to programmatically retrieve it? Thanks

• "Phased" execution of functions in javascript

This is my first post on stackoverflow, so please don't flame me too hard if I come across like a total nitwit or if I'm unable ot make myself perfectly clear. :-) Here's my problem: I'm trying to write a javascript function that "ties" two functions to another by checking the first one's completion and then executing the second one. The easy solution to this obviously would be to write a meta function that calls both functions within it's scope. However, if the first function is asynchronous (specifically an AJAX call) and the second function requires the first one's result data, that simply won't work. My idea for a solution was to give the first function a "flag", i.e. making it create a public property "this.trigger" (initialized as "0", set to "1" upon completion) once it is called; doing that should make it possible for another function to check the flag for its value ([0,1]). If the condition is met ("trigger == 1") the second function should get called. • Python - do big doc strings waste memory?

  I understand that in Python a string is simply an expression and a string by itself would be garbage collected immediately upon return of control to a code's caller, but... Large class/method doc strings in your code: do they waste memory by building the string objects up? Module level doc strings: are they stored infinitely by the interpreter? Does this even matter? My only concern came from the idea that if I'm using a large framework like Django, or multiple large open source libraries, they tend to be very well documented with potentially multiple megabytes of text. In these cases are the doc strings loaded into memory for code that's used along the way, and then kept there, or is it collected immediately like normal strings?

I thought, eye_region coordinates are wrong, and tried some coordinates, but it didn't work. Any idea ? Note :Face detection method works very well, and it's code is same with the eye detection method.

  Hi, I have been working in Oracle iStore from past 4 months and i have been managing the application without any IDE (basically doing all the chores on notepad only because application has been designed poorly and no IDE can support it). Since the coding is done on simple notepad files it is very hard to find out the bugs in the application. I am facing a problem that i have not idea which jsp page redirect the control to which jsp page. For instance, there are two jsp pages A.jsp and other is B.jsp. Now the browser is currently displaying A.jsp. When the user click on submit button (available on A.jsp) the form submits and redirects the control to B.jsp. Now my problem is that i know i am coming on B.jsp but, i don't know that A.jsp is redirecting the control to B.jsp. Is there an method available in Servlet API which tells Which jsp is redirecting the control to B.jsp?   Yes I know its usually a bad idea to parse HTML using RegEx, but that aside can someone explain the fault here: string outputString = Regex.Replace(inputString, @"<?(?i:script|embed|object|frameset|frame|iframe|metalink|style|html|img|layer|ilayer|meta|applet)(.|\n)*?>", ""); if (outputString != inputString) { Console.WriteLine("unwanted tags detected"); } It certainly detects the intended tags like: <script> and <html>, but it also rejects strings I want to allow such as <B>Description</B> and <A href="http://www.mylink.com/index.html">A Link containing 'HTML'</A>
