• UIScrollView with pages enabled and device rotation/orientation changes (MADNESS)

  I'm having a hard time getting this right. I've got a UIScrollView, with paging enabled. It is managed by a view controller (MainViewController) and each page is managed by a PageViewController, its view added as a subview of the scrollView at the proper offset. Scrolling is left-right, for standard orientation iPhone app. Works well. Basically exactly like the sample provided by Apple and also like the Weather app provided with the iPhone. However, when I try to support other orientations, things don't work very well. I've supported every orientation in both MainViewController and PageViewController with this method: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } However, when I rotate the device, my pages become quite skewed, and there are lots of drawing glitches, especially if only some of the pages have been loaded, then I rotate, then scroll more, etc... Very messy. I've told my views to support auto-resizing with theView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight; But to no avail. It seems to just stretch and distort my views. In my MainViewController, I added this line in an attempt to resize all my pages' views: - (void)didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation { self.scrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(self.scrollView.frame.size.width * ([self.viewControllers count]), self.scrollView.frame.size.height); for (int i = 0; i < [self.viewControllers count]; i++) { PageViewController *controller = [self.viewControllers objectAtIndex:i]; if ((NSNull *)controller == [NSNull null]) continue; NSLog(@"Changing frame: %d", i); CGRect frame = self.scrollView.frame; frame.origin.x = frame.size.width * i; frame.origin.y = 0; controller.view.frame = frame; } } But it didn't help too much (because I lazily load the views, so not all of them are necessarily loaded when this executes). Is there any way to solve this problem?

I have read and read I am referecning the All the assemblies listed and I am at a total loss as what to try next. • How do I make Master/Detail subreports in ReportBuilder come out right?

  I've got a report in ReportBuilder that's supposed to report on two objects. I didn't create this report, and I can't ask the person who did about how it works. Before running the report, we have some code that goes through, finds all the properties on the objects, and loads them into a memory dataset that looks like this: OBJECT_ID: TStringField PROP_NAME: TStringField PROP_VALUE: TStringField The report engine then creates a line on the report for each property in this dataset. This is implemented in a sub-report, whose parent only contains an OBJECT_ID, which is a human-readable name. Everything was going great until we had to display a "comment" of arbitrary size in the report. I made a second sub-report with a TMemoField so it could hold the text, and set the report up in the report designer. What I expect when I run the report is something that looks like this: HEADER Object 1 properties Object 1 comment Object 2 properties Object 2 comment I've managed to get just about everything but that. I used the MasterDataPipeline and MasterFieldLinks properties of the sub-report's pipelines to try to link the OBJECT_IDs of the sub-reports to the OBJECT_ID of the header, and that's the closest I've managed to come, but now what I see is: HEADER Object 1 properties Object 1 comment Object 2 comment The "Object 2 properties" section is nowhere to be seen, even though I've manually verified that the data is making it into the dataset correctly. This is driving me nuts. Any ReportBuilder gurus out there know what's going on and now to fix it?

• Asp.Net membership via ASP.NET Website Administrator Tool

  I created a database with aspnet_regsql, the database was created in sql sever 2008 and not in data folder in my project (do I need to move it to the folder manually?). Next, in Web Site Administration Tool I went to provider section and clicked don Test button. I got an error: Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider. Maybe I need to set something in a web.config, like membership settings or connection strings (or ASP.NET Website Administrator Tool should create those settings for me)? Update: Maybe it happens because I am using SQL server 2008 full and not express? Update 2: After setting membership section and connection string to my aspnetdb database in Web Site Administration Tool I've opened security-Security Setup Wizard-Define Roles (stage 4) I got this error: An error was encountered. • Common vulnerabilities for WinForms applications

  I'm not sure if this is on-topic or not here, but it's so specific to .NET WinForms that I believe it makes more sense here than at the Security stackexchange site. (Also, it's related strictly to secure coding, and I think it's as on-topic as any question asking about common website vulnerabiitles that I see all over the site.) For years, our team has been doing threat modeling on Website projects. Part of our template includes the OWASP Top 10 plus other well-known vulnerabilities, so that when we're doing threat modeling, we always make sure that we have a documented process to addressing each of those common vulnerabilities. Example: SQL Injection (Owasp A-1) Standard Practice Use Stored Parameterized Procedures where feasible for access to data where possible Use Parameterized Queries if Stored Procedures are not feasible. (Using a 3rd party DB that we can't modify) Escape single quotes only when the above options are not feasible Database permissions must be designed with least-privilege principle By default, users/groups have no access While developing, document the access needed to each object (Table/View/Stored Procedure) and the business need for access. [snip] At any rate, we used the OWASP Top 10 as the starting point for commonly known vulnerabilities specific to websites. (Finally to the question) On rare occasions, we develop WinForms or Windows Service applications when a web app doesn't meet the needs. I'm wondering if there is an equivalent list of commonly known security vulnerabilities for WinForms apps. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few.... SQL Injection is still a concern Buffer Overflow is normally prevented by the CLR, but is more possible if using non-managed code mixed in with managed code .NET code can be decompiled, so storing sensitive info in code, as opposed to encrypted in the app.config... Is there such a list, or even several versions of such a list, from which we can borrow to create our own? If so, where can I find it? I haven't been able to find it, but if there is one, it would be a great help to us, and also other WinForms developers.

• Weblogic is slow to start (11mins) under VM (VirtualBox and VMware)

  (SOLVED! BY FAKING SYSTEM RANDOM GENERATOR, SEE BELOW) I'm setting up a VM image for my dev/build team. Inside that VM a Weblogic domain should be running. I use Ububtu server distro, WLS 9.2MP3 + ALSB. Everything works OK, quite fast, but at the start time the WLS stops twice for a measurable amounts of time. Two stops in total amount to about 10 minutes delay. For tasks where deployment requires server restart it's very annoying. :-( Sleeping time is not constant, sometimes the server starts very fast, sometimes so-so, sometimes 10 minutes or more. Interesting that if I press Enter while looking at the stopped server, it wakes up much faster, sometimes after a few seconds. WLST (Weblogic Jython shell) is also hanging for quite a time when executed in VM. It doesn't react to Enter though. Here must be some developers who run WLS with a VM. I wonder if others have the same problem? Was someone able to solve it? • DotNetOpenAuth RelayParty not working on load balanced cluster

  We're trying to move an ASP.NET MVC application, which uses DotNetOpenAuth OpenID Version 3.4.1, from a single server web garden to a physical server cluster held behind a hardware load balancer. We even tried removing out nonce store and using a stateless connection, but that didn't work either. We always get the same error. We suspected the issue is arising as a result of the cluster node having a different IP from the load balancer when it connects to the OpenID Provider, but we're not sure. Any ideas?

• Netbeans / persistence API error

  I am following this tutorial, I'm using netbeans 6.5.1 http://www.netbeans.org/kb/docs/java/gui-db-custom.html When I get to the part where I create the "new entity class from database", which is in the "Customizing the Master/Detail View" section of the tutoiral. I can't ever compile because I get this error in the task list (and I get a runtime error when I run)... Atleast I think these two are related. Error Named queries can be defined only on an Entity or MappedSuperclass class. • WCF net.tcp bindings, message formats and security questions

  Hi, sorry for the stupid questions but there are just some things about WCF I cant get my head around. Would be greatful for some advice on the following.... At a very basic level is it correct that WCF uses either Binary (Net.Tcp), HTTP or MSMQ to transfer my message on the wire? However is it true that in all cases, regardless of how the data is transferred the message itself in in the SOAP format with headers and a body? So its a sort of XML message that is transmitted in either HTTP/S or in a binary format. Is Net.Tcp a good choice for my client server app - its similar to a messenger app in that the clients are all remote users on the other side of the firewall to my server. Most things I am reading are telling to use WS* and HTTP. Is Net.Tcp secured by standard and without certificates? - that is - people cannot listen on the wire and decode the data thats going to and from. Is it possible to send a username and password using net.tcp and without an installed certificate? If so I presume I can hook this up to my membership provider and authenticate access to each method on my service contract implementation. I presume that with username and password security, the proxy is initialised with the username and password and that this information is is sent with every request. Then my membership provider will be invoked for each method call and do whatever it needs to do to get the authorisation for the method. Sorry for the dump of questions but would be great to know if Im thinking the right way about how WCF works. Thanks.

• Using Entity Framework with an SQL Compact Private Installation

  I am using Entity Framework 4 in a desktop application with SQL Compact. I want to use a private installation of SQL Compact with my application, so that my installer can install SQL Compact without giving the user a second installation to do. It also avoids versioning hassles down the road. My development machine has SQL Compact 3.5 SP1 installed as a public installation, so my app runs fine there, as one would expect. But it's not running on my test machine, which does not have SQL Compact installed. I get this error: The specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid. I know some people have had difficulty with SQL Compact private installations, but I have used them for a while, and I really like them. Unfortunately, my regular private installation approach isn't working. I have checked the version numbers on my SQL CE files, and they are all 3.8.8078.0, which is the SP2 RC version. Here are the files I have included in my private installation: sqlcecompact35.dll sqlceer35EN.dll sqlceme35.dll sqlceqp35.dll sqlcese35.dll System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll System.Data.SqlServerCe.Entity.dll I have added a reference to System.Data.SqlServerCe to my project, and I have verified that all of the files listed above are being copied to the application folder on the installation machine. • ClassCastException When Calling an EJB that Exists on Same Server

  I have 2 ejbs. Ejb-A that calls Ejb-B. They are not in the same Ear. For portability Ejb-B may or may not exist on the same server. (There is an external property file that has the provider URLs of Ejb-B. I have no control over this.) Example Code: in Ejb-A EjbBDelegate delegateB = EjbBDelegateHelper.getRemoteDelegate(); // lookup from list of URLs from props... BookOfMagic bom = delegateB.getSomethingInteresting(); Use Cases/Outcomes: When Ejb-B DOES NOT EXIST on the same server as Ejb-A, everything works correctly. (it round-robbins through the URLs) When Ejb-B DOES EXIST on the same server, and Ejb-A happens to call Ejb-B on the same server, everything works correctly. When Ejb-B DOES EXIST on the same server, and Ejb-A calls Ejb-B on a different server, I get: javax.ejb.EJBException: nested exception is: java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy126 java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy126 NOTE (not normal use case but may help): When Ejb-B DOES EXIST on the same server, and this server is NOT listed in the provider URLs for Ejb-B, and Ejb-A calls Ejb-B on a different server, I get the same Exception as above. I'm using Weblogic 10.0, Java 5, EJB3 Basically, if Ejb-B Exists on the server, it must be called ONLY on that server. Which leads me to believe that the class is getting loaded by a local classloader (on deployment?), then when called remotely, a different classloader is loading it. (causing the Exception) But it should work, as it should be Serialized into the destination classloader... What am I doing wrong?? Also, when reproducing this locally, Ejb-A would favor the Ejb-B on the same server, so it was difficult to reproduce. But this wasn't the case on other machines.

• Websphere 7 EntityManagerFactory creation problem

  Hello, I'm working on a maven project which uses seam 2.2.0, hibernate 3.5.0-CR-2 as JPA provider, DB2 as database server and Websphere 7 as application server. Now I'm facing de following problem: In my EJBs that are seen also as SEAM components I want to use the EntityManager from EJB container (@PersistenceContext private EntityManager em) not Seam's EntityManager (@In private EntityManager em). But this is the problem, I cannot obtain an EntityManager using @PersistenceContext. On server logs it sais that it cannot create an EntityManagerFactory and gets a ClassCastException: java.lang.ClassCastException: org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence incompatible with javax.persistence.spi.PersistenceProvider After a lot of debugging and searching on forums I'm assuming that the problem is that Websphere doesn't use the Hibernate JPA provider. Has anyone faced this problem and has a solution? I configured already WAS class loader order for my application to load the classes with the application class loader first and I\ve packed all necessary jars in application ear as written in: WAS InfoCenter: Features for EJB 3.0 development . If necessary I'll post my persistence.xml, components.xml files and stack trace. I'll be using some third-party libraries: ThirdParty.Foo.dll ThirdParty.Bar.dll ThirdParty.Baz.dll And some in-house libraries: Company.A Company.B Company.C Company.D (References third party libraries) Company.E (References Company.A) The project itself will have the following components: Project.Core Project.DataModel (references in-house/third-party libraries) Project.GUI (references Core, DataModel, and in-house/third-party libraries) Project.PluginOne (references Core, DataModel, and in-house/third-party libraries) Project.PluginTwo (references Core, DataModel, and in-house/third-party libraries) * can be an arbitrary number of plugins * I'm quite new to Mercurial, so I don't really know the best way to structure my repositories for a project like this, with a lot of interconnected components. The in-house libraries are fairly distinct, so I would say that each one of them should have its own repository. However, some of them use functionality provided by others. How should these dependencies be managed? The project plug-ins should be distinct from eachother, so I'd imagine that each would have its own repository. How should the dependencies on the in-house/third-party libraries and the rest of the project (Project.DataModel and Project.Core) be managed, with regards to the solution layout and the repository layout? So basically, for a project like this, what are the best way of structuring: (a) my visual studio solutions (b) my source control repository/repositories

  Hi , It's 3 days I'm trying to install SqlServer 2005 under Windows 7 64 bit on my machine . First let me tell you what I've done and what I've got till now . 1-I Installed Windows 7 64 Bit on my computer 2-I tried to install SQl Server 2005 "Developer Edition" 2.1 But in "System Configuration Check" Page i recieved 2 warning , One for "IIS Feature Requirement" and another for "ASP.NET Version Registration Rquired" . 2.1.1 . I installed "Internet Information Services" from "Turn Windows features on or off" section in control panel 2.1.2 I Enabled reporting service 32 bit from "Inetpub= AdminScripts = adsutil.vbs 2.2 At this stage There was no waring in System Configuration Check 3- So I installed SQl Server 2005 Developer Edition By all default settings 4- I installed Sql Server 2005 Service Pack 3 64 bit Now when when i run "Management Studio" There is no name in "Server name" section . I typed my Computer name Or "." and i got this Error : A network -related instance-specific error occurred while establishinga connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (Provider: Named Pipes Provider , error :40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server ) ( Microsoft SQL Server , Error :2) . I googled some for this Error and some people said follow this instruction: Startsql server 2005Configuration toolsSql Server Surface Configuration AreaSurface Area Configuration for services and Connections But i got this Error : No SQl SErver 2005 Components were found on the specified computer . Either no components are installed , or you are not a administrator on this computer (SQLSAC) I'm really tired because of that , and i don't know what's wrong with this . Some more information : I have no additonal software on my computer , like Antivirus or Proxy I tried all step with "Standard Edition" either , but no difference My user is Administrator I tried more than 5 times all those steps including re-installing Windows 7 .   ok I have couple of .NET classes that I want to use in VBA. So I must register them through COM and all that. I think I have the COM registration figured out (finally) but now I need help with the syntax of how to create the objects. Here is some pseudo code showing what I am trying to do. However, without a public default constructor (a constructor without arguments), COM clients cannot create an instance of the type. COM clients can still use the type if the type is instantiated in another way and the instance is returned to the COM client. You may include overloaded constructors that accept varying arguments for these types. However, constructors that accept arguments may only be called from managed (.NET) code.
