• PowerPoint.Application not raising events in C#

  I have a simple application written in C# and .Net 2.0 that displays several PowerPoint 2003 files in a loop. (It is going to be used for a information board in our cafeteria) The application works fine on my development machine but when I deploy it to another machine the events I have registered for SlideShowNextSlide and PresentationClose are never fired. • An observation on .NET loops – foreach, for, while, do-while

  It’s very common that .NET programmers use “foreach” loop for iterating through collections. Following is my observation whilst I was testing simple scenario on loops. “for” loop is 30% faster than “foreach” and “while” loop is 50% faster than “foreach”. “do-while” is bit faster than “while”. Someone may feel that how does it make difference if I’m iterating only 1000 times in a loop. This test case is only for simple iteration. According to the "Data structure" concepts, best and worst cases are completely based on the data we provide to the algorithm. so we can not conclude that a "foreach" algorithm is not good. All I want to tell that we need to be little cautious even choosing the loops. Example:- You might want to chose quick sort when you want to sort more numbers. At the same time bubble sort may be effective than quick sort when you want to sort less numbers. Take a simple scenario, a request of a simple web application fetches the data of 10000 (10K) rows and iterating them for some business logic. Think, this application is being accessed by 1000 (1K) people simultaneously. • Issues With IIS Hosting Two Domains From Same Folder [closed]

  I have two different domain names that resolve to the same ASP.Net site. Both domains are hosted on the same server, which runs Windows Server 2003 and IIS6. The sites are differentiated in IIS Manager using host headers. However, both of the sites point to the same folder on the local drive for the site's page files. I am occasionally experiencing an ASP.Net error that says "The state information is invalid for this page and might be corrupted." I'm the site developer so I've addressed all the relevant code-related causes for this issue. However, I was wondering whether having two domains/sites sharing the same folder for an ASP.Net application might be causing this intermittent error. Also, is this generally a bad practice? Should I make separate, duplicate folders for each of the domains? Seems like that can become a maintenance headache.

• Exchange 2010 Deployment Notes &ndash; iPhone and Exchange ActiveSync issue

  After we moved one of our user mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to 2010, the user started getting a Cannot get mail. The connection to the server failed error message on their iPhone device. There are a lot of references on Google to check for inherited permissions to resolve the error message.  We quickly determined that we were not dealing with a permissions issue. After some additional troubleshooting and research, we were able to isolate the problem to a device partnership issue. To resolve the issue, use ADSI Edit to find the user object. When you find the user object, double-click on it and you should see a CN=ExchangeActiveSyncDevices container under the user object as shown below.  On the right-hand side, you should see one or more device partnerships.   Right-click the device partnership according to the device the user is using, and click Delete. After you remove the device partnership, please wait until Active Directory replication completes before you set up the device again.

• Can isdigit legitimately be locale dependent in C

  In the section covering setlocale, the ANSI C standard states in a footnote that the only ctype.h functions whose behaviour is not affected by the current locale are isdigit and isxdigit. The Microsoft implementation of isdigit is locale dependent because, for example, in locales using code page 1250 isdigit only returns non-zero for characters in the range 0x30 ('0') - 0x39 ('9'), whereas in locales using code page 1252 isdigit also returns non-zero for the superscript digits 0xB2 ('²'), 0xB3 ('³') and 0xB9 ('¹'). Is Microsoft in violation of the C standard by making isdigit locale dependent? In this question I am primarily interested in C90, which Microsoft claims to conform to, rather than C99. Additional background: Microsoft's own documentation of setlocale incorrectly states that isdigit is unaffected by the LC_CTYPE part of the locale. The section of the C standard that covers the ctype.h functions contains some wording that I consider ambiguous: "The behavior of these functions is affected by the current locale. Those functions that have locale-specific aspects only when not in the "C" locale are noted below." I consider this ambiguous because it is unclear what it is trying to say about functions such as isdigit for which there are no notes about locale-specific aspects. It might be trying to say that such functions must be assumed to be locale dependent, in which case Microsoft's implementation of isdigit would be OK. (Except that the footnote I mentioned earlier seems to contradict this interpretation.)

Open the ProfileCatalog.xml file in the Shell project, and you'll find there are three ModuleInfo configuration items that need to have the solution name prefixed. 2.   I have a mailto url in a web page. The target system contains both Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes. Microsoft Outlook is the **default** Mail Client. So when i click on *mailto* link it opens up Microsoft Outlook. I want it to open Lotus Notes when i click on the link and i do **NOT** want change the default mail client settings in Internet Options as well. Please suggest a solution or work around to achive this.

  Hi I spent a day trying to make Ent Lib Logging work and log anything into database or event log, I have a web application and console application withe the same Ent Lib config, only the console is capable to log into the Event Log, I tried everything with permissions, but I don't know what exactly I am doing, which services should have what, It does not work!! • RMO on Windows 7 - The Specified module could not be found

  My machine: Windows XP (x86), VS2008, .net 3.5, sql server 2005, WinForms - App works fine. Production Machines: Windows 7 (x64), SQl Server 2005 Express - App Starts but throws exception Visual Studio Targeting x86 on setup project and RMO project. Visual Studio gives me a a couple warnings but I can still build: Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll' Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SmoMetadataProvider.dll' This is a simple RMO (Replication Management Objects) app that initiates a pull subscription in SQL Server 2005 and displays status. Works fine on my machine, but fails on the production machine. I'm using a setup project to install the app on the production machine, but I think I'm missing a dependency somewhere, but I can't figure it out. On the production machine the app starts fine, but when I try to synch the subscription i get: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The Specified module could not be found. (Exception from HResult: 0x8007007E)

• How do I justify upgrading to Windows Server 2008?

  We're just about to start a new greenfield project - it's a highly functional web application using ASP.NET MVC3, SQL Server etc. We're also going to be using Windows Workflow Foundation for the first time. Our client only wants to use his existing Windows Server 2003 web servers. My main issue (other than it is 8 years old) is that we don't much experierence of WWF development, but understand that using AppFabric (Server 2008 only) will improve WWF development. It's a significant cost to the client, as we need fail-over servers and a UAT environment as well. Am I correct in my understanding, and what methodologies can I use to justify the cost of upgrading?

• Reputable web host in mainland China? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? We currently have a rather poorly set up Windows 2003 box with little to no support based in Shanghai; with no control panel/mail server. I am told for legal/business reasons the host must be based in the same location as the company for the website; but this could well be misinformation. Are there any well-known, quality hosts in China that offer reliable English-speaking support? We did consider GoDaddy on the west coast of America, but were informed of the risk of the site being shut down without any notice. We don't have any technically-minded contacts out there to advise, and hoping that someone will have some more experience in this department. Thank you.

• How to store and update data table on client side (iOS MMO)

  Currently i'm developing an iOS MMO game with cocos2d-x, that game depends on many data tables(excel file) given by the designers. These tables contain data like how much gold/crystal will be cost when upgrade a building(barracks, laboratory etc..). We have about 10 tables, each have about 50 rows of data. My question is how to store those tables on client side and how to update them once they have been modified on server side? My opinion: use Sqlite to store data on client side, the server will parse the excel files and send the data to client with JSON format, then the client parse the JOSN string and save it to Sqlite file. Is there any better method? I find that some game stores csv files on client side, how do they update the files? Could server send a whole file directly to client?

  At work we are inte process of starting development on a new web-based product. Before doing so we need to establish what technology stack we are going to use. For this application my preference would have been to use Django but since the development- and management-team is soo heavily rooted with Microsoft the new product will have to be based on Microsoft technologies. So my question is, what setup, with Microsoft technologies, would most resemble a django setup with its MVT-design?
