  • Windows Sharing requires password

    I have 3 machines on my local network Machine A , Machine B and Machine C OS on all machines is : Windows 7 64bit. Sharing Permissions on all machines : Everyone ( Read/Write ) no domain. Sharing folder name : project Machine A is sharing folder over the network without password. Machine B is sharing folder over the network without password. Machine C is sharing folder over the network without password. Machine A can normally access B and C without password required. Machine B can normally access A and C without password required Machine C can normally access Machine B without password. My problem is *Machine C* requires a password when it access Machine A also the shared folder in Machine A don't have password protected and Machine B can access Machine A without a password ! How can i solve the problem .?

  • Mac HDD Is Encrypted

    I have the hard drive from a PowerMac G5, which was my old computer before it died and I upgraded to Ubuntu Studio. The hard drive its self still works well, but on Ubuntu I can't access most of the files. I plugged it into my MacBook Air and changed some of the perms on some of the folders as a test. This worked for a few, but for others, I was getting the same message Cannot access folder. Access denied. I would like to use this as an external HDD (I have a case and everything), but it's kind of pointless if I can't access the folders that I want. After looking around for a couple of hours, I couldn't find anything that actually gave me an answer. I would like to know if: Anybody else has come upon this problem, If so, have you found a solution? and, What is it?

    EDIT - Rewrote my original question to give a bit more information Background info At my work I'm working on a ASP.Net web application for our customers. In our implementation we use technologies like Forms authentication with MembershipProviders and RoleProviders. All went well until I ran into some difficulties with configuring the roles, because the roles aren't system-wide, but related to the customer accounts and projects. I can't name our exact setup/formula, because I think our company wouldn't approve that... What's a customer / project? Our company provides management information for our customers on a yearly (or other interval) basis. In our systems a customer/contract consists of: one Account: information about the Company per Account, one or more Products: the bundle of management information we'll provide per Product, one or more Measurements: a period of time, in which we gather and report the data Extranet site setup Eventually we want all customers to be able to access their management information with our online system. The extranet consists of two sites: Company site: provides an overview of Account information and the Products Measurement site: after selecting a Measurement, detailed information on that period of time The measurement site is the most interesting part of the extranet. We will create submodules for new overviews, reports, managing and maintaining resources that are important for the research. Our Visual Studio solution consists of a number of projects. One web application named Portal for the basis. The sites and modules are virtual directories within that application (makes it easier to share MasterPages among things). What kind of roles? The following users (read: roles) will be using the system: Admins: development users :) (not customer related, full access) Employees: employees of our company (not customer related, full access) Customer SuperUser: top level managers (full access to their account/measurement) Customer ContactPerson: primary contact (full access to their measurement(s)) Customer Manager: a department manager (limited access, specific data of a measurement) What about ASP.Net users? The system will have many ASP.Net users, let's focus on the customer users: Users are not shared between Accounts SuperUser X automatically has access to all (and new) measurements User Y could be Primary contact for Measurement 1, but have no role for Measurement 2 User Y could be Primary contact for Measurement 1, but have a Manager role for Measurement 2 The department managers are many individual users (per Measurement), if Manager Z had a login for Measurement 1, we would like to use that login again if he participates in Measurement 2. URL structure These are typical urls in our application: http://host/login - the login screen http://host/project - the account/product overview screen (measurement selection) http://host/project/1000 - measurement (id:1000) details http://host/project/1000/planning - planning overview (for primary contact/superuser) http://host/project/1000/reports - report downloads (manager department X can only access report X) We will also create a document url, where you can request a specific document by it's GUID. The system will have to check if the user has rights to the document. The document is related to a Measurement, the User or specific roles have specific rights to the document. What's the problem? (finally ;)) Roles aren't enough to determine what a user is allowed to see/access/download a specific item. It's not enough to say that a certain navigation item is accessible to Managers. When the user requests Measurement 1000, we have to check that the user not only has a Manager role, but a Manager role for Measurement 1000. Summarized: How can we limit users to their accounts/measurements? (remember superusers see all measurements, some managers only specific measurements) How can we apply roles at a product/measurement level? (user X could be primarycontact for measurement 1, but just a manager for measurement 2) How can we limit manager access to the reports screen and only to their department's reports? All with the magic of asp.net classes, perhaps with a custom roleprovider implementation.   • How do I access the ASP.NET Configuration Tool when a site is live? This is ASP.NET MVC.

    I was wondering if it's possible to access the ASP.NET Configuration Tool once a site is live. To be able to create and edit users and roles is obviously very important, and from what I've been reading, once a site is deployed, the Configuration Tool is no longer accessible. If this is the case, HOW do I add users, etc.? By the way, I found a User Management plugin which brings a lot of the Configuration Tool's capabilities to the front end of a User Management section of the deployed website, but it DOES NOT offer the capability to add a new user. Help??? Thanks!!

  • Cisco 881 losing NAT NVI translation config after reload

    This is a weird one, so I'll try to explain in as much detail as I can so I'm giving the whole picture. As I've mentioned in my other questions, I'm in the process of setting up a new Cisco 881 as my WAN router and NAT firewall. I'm facing an issue where NAT NVI rules that I have configured are not enabled after a reload of the router, regardless of the fact that they are present in the startup-config.     I'm having troubles using the Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.Admin on a server. The server is not the one running Exchange 2007, it's a remote server (in the same zone). I can't figure out how to add the Snapin for Powershell - Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.Admin. Is it possible to just get the dll file from the Exchange 2007 server, and copy it to the server where my code is running? Can someone please explain what I need to do to get my code running? The exception that i'm getting now is: "No Windows PowerShell Snap-ins are available for version 1".   • Advice on database design / SQL for retrieving data with chronological order

    I am creating a database that will help keep track of which employees have been on a certain training course. I would like to get some guidance on the best way to design the database. Specifically, each employee must attend the training course each year and my database needs to keep a history of all the dates on which they have attend the course in the past. The end user will use the software as a planning tool to help them book future course dates for employees. When they select a given employee they will see: (a) Last attendance date (b) Projected future attendance date(i.e. last attendance date + 1 calendar year) In terms of my database, any given employee may have multiple past course attendance dates: EmpName AttandanceDate Joe Bloggs 1st Jan 2007 Joe Bloggs 4th Jan 2008 Joe Bloggs 3rd Jan 2009 Joe Bloggs 8th Jan 2010 My question is what is the best way to set up the database to make it easy to retrieve the most recent course attendance date? In the example above, the most recent would be 8th Jan 2010. Is there a good way to use SQL to sort by date and pick the MAX date? My other idea was to add a column called ‘MostRecent’ and just set this to TRUE. EmpName AttandanceDate MostRecent Joe Bloggs 1st Jan 2007 False Joe Bloggs 4th Jan 2008 False Joe Bloggs 3rd Jan 2009 False Joe Bloggs 8th Jan 2010 True I wondered if this would simplify the SQL i.e. SELECT Joe Bloggs WHERE MostRecent = ‘TRUE’ Also, when the user updates a given employee’s attendance record (i.e. with latest attendance date) I could use SQL to: Search for the employee and set the MostRecent value to FALSE Add a new record with MostRecent set to TRUE?     I have a Php script that calls Msbuild via System: <?php system( "msbuild umlaut.proj" ); ?> This is the project file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Project xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003" DefaultTargets="EchoUmlaut" ToolsVersion="3.5"> <Target Name="EchoUmlaut"> <Message Text="Umlaute: Ä Ö Ü ä ö ü ß" /> </Target> </Project> When I call Msbuild directly from the command line the output of msbuild is in German (as excpected) and the umlauts come out OK (I chcp to 1252).   • Creating a Sharepoint Development Environment from an Existing Production Environment

    I have very little experience using Sharepoint but a good amount using Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2005, Windows Server 2003 and IIS6. I need to create a development environment for a SharePoint 2007 system that will be used internally. The system is already deployed over two servers - one of the servers simply holds the database and everything else is on the other server. We are also using WSS 3.0. I have created a Virtual Machine with all the required software including a clean installation of SharePoint Server 2007 and I wish to use this single Virtual Machine as the development environment. Right now there are no custom assemblies being used on the production server as far as I am aware. There are 3 websites, one over port 80 for user accesss, one over a custom port for central administration, and one over another custom port. Not sure what the last one is for but my blank instance of Sharepoint on my Virtual Machine also has something similar. I attempted to use the STSADM tool to backup and restore these 3 sites from my production environment to my development environment and while the operations completed succesfully, the central administration site in my development environment acted strangely and I could not access port 80 - I did not seem to have correct credentials for it. I suspected that it would not have been so simple so could I please have advice on how to create my development environment so that I can use it to deploy updates to the production one.

    Hi All, I have got this error when using Enterprise Library 3.1 May 2007 version. We are developing a product and have a common lib directory beneath the Subversion Trunk directory <\Trunk\Lib\ into which we put all the third party DLLs. Inside this we have Microsoft\EnterpriseLibrary\v3.1 in which we have copied all the dlls from \Program Files\Microsoft Enterprise Library May2007\bin. Everything was working properly until one of the developers installed the source code on this machine. There were some dlls copied at the end of the source code installation and once that was done, he is not able to run the project anymore. He always gets this error 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=3.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)' What is the problem here? I thought that when the source code was installed it was just supposed to build everything and copy in the bin directory within the source code parent directory. Also we have copied the Dlls from Microsoft Enterprise Library May 2007\bin directory into our product development directory and references into our project with a copylocal flag set to true. Can anyone help me out here RK

    Some questions: * Is there some way to view the data present in the iPhone keychain? * The items an application adds, cannot be accessed by any other application, can it? * What is the purpose of the identifier and access group in the initialization? My guess is that the identifier is simply used to find items but I'm a little bit unsure of the access group. If the access group is assigned nil, all applications can access the items? If the access group is assigned X, could the items be accessed by another application with the same string X as access group or what is the purpose of the access group in this case? * Is the data in the keychain removed when the application is removed? If not, how do I achieve that? And finally: I can't get the KeychainItemWrapper (Apple example) to work. I've added the KeychainItemWrapper files to my project and when running it on the phone, an exception is thrown by SecItemAdd, saying that one or more parameters were not valid (result code -50).   • How to insert inline content from one FlowDocument into another?

    I'm building an application that needs to allow a user to insert text from one RichTextBox at the current caret position in another one. I spent a lot of time screwing around with the FlowDocument's object model before running across this technique - source and target are both FlowDocuments: using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream()) { TextRange tr = new TextRange(source.ContentStart, source.ContentEnd); tr.Save(ms, DataFormats.Xaml); ms.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin); tr = new TextRange(target.CaretPosition, target.CaretPosition); tr.Load(ms, DataFormats.Xaml); } This works remarkably well. The only problem I'm having with it now is that it always inserts the source as a new paragraph. It breaks the current run (or whatever) at the caret, inserts the source, and ends the paragraph. That's appropriate if the source actually is a paragraph (or more than one paragraph), but not if it's just (say) a line of text. I think it's likely that the answer to this is going to end up being checking the target to see if it consists entirely of a single block, and if it does, setting the TextRange to point at the beginning and end of the block's content before saving it to the stream. The entire world of the FlowDocument is a roiling sea of dark mysteries to me. I can become an expert at it if I have to (per Dostoevsky: "Man is the animal who can get used to anything."), but if someone has already figured this out and can tell me how to do this it would make my life far easier.

    In Delphi 2007 you can store a UTF8 string in a WideString and then pass that onto a Win32 function, e.g. var UnicodeStr: WideString; UTF8Str: WideString; begin UnicodeStr:='some unicode text'; UTF8Str:=UTF8Encode(UnicodeStr); Windows.SomeFunction(PWideChar(UTF8Str), ...) end; Delphi 2007 does not interfere with the contents of UTF8Str, i.e. it is left as a UTF8 encoded string stored in a WideString. But in Delphi 2010 I'm struggling to find a way to do the same thing, i.e. store a UTF8 encoded string in a WideString without it being automatically converted from UTF8. I cannot pass a pointer to UTF8 string (or RawByteString), e.g. the following will obviously not work: var UnicodeStr: WideString; UTF8Str: UTF8String; begin UnicodeStr:='some unicode text'; UTF8Str:=UTF8Encode(UnicodeStr); Windows.SomeFunction(PWideChar(UTF8Str), ...) end; Any help appreciated.     So I want to add an iCal file to a web page, so that people can add an event to their calendars. But when I view the event in my calendar (Outlook 2007) I want to see everyone who will be attending. How can I do that? I just started experimenting with this, I used Outlook's Save As to create an iCal file for a single event. That works, I can link to that file and other people can add the event to their calendars. But it doesn't tell me who has added it.   • Outlook Interop Send Message from Account

    Okay, the specs have changed on this one somewhat. Maybe someone can help me with this new problem. Manually, what the user is doing is opening an new message in Outlook (2007 now) which has the "From..." field exposed. They open this up, select a certain account from the Global Address List, and send the message on behalf of that account. Is this possible to do? I can get the AddressEntry from the Global address list like so: AddressList list = null; foreach (AddressList addressList in _outlookApp.Session.AddressLists) { if (addressList.Name.ToLower().Equals("global address list")) { list = addressList; break; } } if (list != null) { AddressEntry entry = null; foreach (AddressEntry addressEntry in list.AddressEntries) { if (addressEntry.Name.ToLower().Equals("outgoing mail account")) { entry = addressEntry; break; } } } But I'm not sure I can make an Account type from the Address Entry. It seems to happen manually, when they select the address to send from. How do I mirror this in the Interop? Thanks! (My Original Question): I developed a small C# program to send email using the Outlook 2007 interop. The client required that the mail not be send using the default account - they had a secondary account they needed used. No problem - I used the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Account class to access the availabled accounts, and choose the correct one. Now, it turns out they need this to work in Outlook 2003. Of course, the Account class doesn't exist in the Outlook interop 11.0. How can I achieve the same thing with Outlook 2003? Thanks in advance.
