  • 11/28 Webinar: How Marketers Are Crafting Customer Experiences

    - by Charles Knapp
According to recent studies by Sirius Decisions and the CEB, 70% of the consumer buying journey is complete before a salesperson becomes involved. Business customers complete 57% of their buying journey without a salesperson. So, what are savvy marketers doing to stay involved in the customer journey?  Marketers are at the epicenter of turning "big data" into insights that are acted upon by the company and customers. Drawing upon social, transactional, and online behavioral insights, marketers are making customer interactions easier and more rewarding. Marketers are personalizing and innovating customer connections across new channels and devices, especially for interactions that span channels. Learn more about three key innovation strategies in an informative webcast sponsored by the Internet Marketing Association, University of California Irvine Extension, and Oracle on Wednesday, November 28, 11 am to 12 pm Pacific. • Data Recovery using testDisk failing!

    - by iamcreasy
I am trying to recover an accidentally formatted partition using testDisk, After selecting the partition[pic 1] and selecting Undeleted[pic 1], it says, No deleted file found.[pic 2] 1 2 I know it's a silly question, but I just want to make sure that those data are really out of reach. Or is there anything I can do to recover them? :( I tried to repair my partition table using bootrec.exe/FixMBR & bootrec.exe/FixBoot, can this be the reason why testdisk can't work anymore? I haven't written anything on that partition. Is there any low level approach to retrieve all the lost data?

  • Drawing different per-pixel data on the screen

    - by Amir Eldor
I want to draw different per-pixel data on the screen, where each pixel has a specific value according to my needs. An example may be a random noise pattern where each pixel is randomly generated. I'm not sure what is the correct and fastest way to do this. Locking a texture/surface and manipulating the raw pixel data? How is this done in modern graphics programming? I'm currently trying to do this in Pygame but realized I will face the same problem if I go for C/SDL or OpenGL/DirectX.

  • How to ramp up my data structures skills after a long hibernation

    - by Anon
I was pretty good with algorithms and data structures once, a long long time ago. Since then, I programmed professionally, and then went to manage a small team, which totally shot my tech skills in this field back. I've decided I want to be a developer again, and work for Google. The thing is, I'm so out of practice, that if I were to be interviewed right now I would surely flunk out in 10 minutes. What training program would you recommend for me to get back into shape? I already started this weekend by going back to the absolute basics and implementing a few sort algorithms, linked list, and hash table. Next, I think I'll read through the entire course material on the other basic data structures and graph algorithms. I want to find a focused set of practical exercises I can do in a relatively short amount of time, to juggle the old brain cells. I know this stuff - I just need to remind myself that I know it.

  • Iterating selected rows in an ADF Faces table

    - by Frank Nimphius
    In OTN Harvest May 2012; http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/may2012-otn-harvest-1652358.pdf I wrote about "Common mistake when iterating <af:table> rows". In this entry I showed code to access the row associated with a selected table row from the binding layer to avoid the problem of having to programmatically change the selected table row. As it turns out, my solution only worked fro selected table rows that are in the current iterator query range. So here's a solution that works for all ranges public String onButtonPress() { RowKeySet rks = table.getSelectedRowKeys(); Iterator it = rks.iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { List selectedRowKeyPath = (List)it.next(); //table is the JSF component reference created using the table's binding //property Row row = ((JUCtrlHierNodeBinding)table.getRowData(selectedRowKeyPath)).getRow(); System.out.println("Print Test: " + row.getAttribute(1)); } return null; }

  • nagios3 Error: Could not read object configuration data!

    - by user1493730
I have a brand new install of nagios3 on ubuntu 12.04. After I log in to the web interface and click any link I get the error: Error: Could not read object configuration data! Here are some things you should check in order to resolve this error: Verify configuration options using the -v command-line option to check for errors. Check the Nagios log file for messages relating to startup or status data errors. I ran it with the -v option and it reported no errors: Total Warnings: 0 Total Errors: 0 Things look okay - No serious problems were detected during the pre-flight check The nagios log and apache error log and debug log all have nothing regarding this. Does anyone know how to turn on logging that will give me some kind of useful error? Or if anyone knows how to fix this specific problem without additional logging, I guess that's okay too. Thanks!

  • Open World Day 4

    - by Antony Reynolds
A Day in the Life of an OpenWorld Attendee Part V Last day at OpenWorld.  The exhibits are closed, and the final few presentations are being given.  I spent much of the day meeting with customers to talk about SOA/OSB and Coherence.  Main event of the day was the farewell party which was loud and surprisingly well attended.  I was able to have lunch with Dave Felcey, Coherence PM, who has a great blog and is always ready to share his expertise with people. So that was OpenWOrld for another year.  I met a friend of a friend who attends OpenWorld every year and attends the Demo Grounds with a list of questions to ask people.  I think that illustrates the point that everyone approaches OpenWorld in a different way and looks to get different things from it.  For me OpenWorld is a great experience to feel the energy in Oracle and network with customers and partners.  Hope to see you there next year!

  • Google Analytics Export API - nextPagePath data

    - by Btibert3
I am probably missing something obvious, but I do not understand when I query: start.date = DATE_START, end.date = DATE_END, dimensions = c("ga:pagePath","ga:previousPagePath"), metrics = c("ga:pageviews"), filters = mypageofinterest, table.id = "ga:mytable", max.results=RESULTS my data return as expected, all of the previous pages including (entrance). However, when I modify the code to be nextPagePath start.date = DATE_START, end.date = DATE_END, dimensions = c("ga:pagePath","ga:nextPagePath"), metrics = c("ga:pageviews"), filters = mypageofinterest, table.id = "ga:mytable", max.results=RESULTS only one line of data are returned; the pagepath and nextpagepath are identical with itself. I replicated this result using the Query Explorer. What am I missing or doing wrong? I was expecting to see a large number of "next" pages, including (exit). Thanks in advance.

  • What Is the Experience Revolution – and Why Does it Matter?

    - by Charles Knapp
Customer experience is how your customer perceives the sum of their interactions with your organization throughout their buying, service delivery, and ownership experiences. In our highly connected online, phone, social, and mobile interactions, it’s easy to lose a dissatisfied customer – who can readily dissuade future customers. Nevertheless, great brand experiences still deliver top margins and low-cost repeat business. The Experience Revolution seamlessly connects customer-facing interactions with employee-facing CRM transactions. While your organization has invested in some of these capabilities, how well do the pieces work for your customers? Is it time for your organization to join the Experience Revolution? We invite you to join Oracle President Mark Hurd for an incredible, educational evening on June 25, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in New York City.  Attend to see and learn: What leading brands do to win over customers How to unlock the value of customer experiences The bottom-line effect of great experiences Why doing nothing is not an option
