• Ruby on Rails tutorial problem

  Quick question which I hope is easily answered.. I am following this tutorial: http://oreilly.com/pub/a/ruby/archive/rails.html?page=2 and all is going well until I try create a controller and view it in my browser. The server is running and it shows the default page okay (http://127.0.0.1:3000). I ran ruby script\generate controller MyTest in my command line and it generated the correct folders and files. The problem is, when I go to http://127.0.0.1:3000/My%5FTest/ it says: We're sorry, but something went wrong. We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly. This must be something I have overlooked somewhere. Any help is appreciated! ruby 1.8.6 rails 2.3.4 Just checked my development logs. • Calling AuditQuerySystemPolicy() (advapi32.dll) from C# returns "The parameter is incorrect"

  The sequence is like follows: Open a policy handle with LsaOpenPolicy() (not shown) Call LsaQueryInformationPolicy() to get the number of categories; For each category: Call AuditLookupCategoryGuidFromCategoryId() to turn the enum value into a GUID; Call AuditEnumerateSubCategories() to get a list of the GUIDs of all subcategories; Call AuditQuerySystemPolicy() to get the audit policies for the subcategories. All of these work and return expected, sensible values except the last. Calling AuditQuerySystemPolicy() gets me a "The parameter is incorrect" error. I'm thinking there must be some subtle unmarshaling problem. I'm probably misinterpreting what exactly AuditEnumerateSubCategories() returns, but I'm stumped. You'll see (commented) I tried to dereference the return pointer from AuditEnumerateSubCategories() as a pointer. Doing or not doing that gives the same result. • Snow Leopard & Ruby on Rails - SQLite3 issue

  I just upgraded to snow leopard. Before, I had everything running fine, but now when I start the server from the terminal I get: => Booting WEBrick => Rails 2.3.3 application starting on http://0.0.0.0:3000 => Call with -d to detach => Ctrl-C to shutdown server [2009-08-28 23:18:19] INFO WEBrick 1.3.1 [2009-08-28 23:18:19] INFO ruby 1.8.7 (2008-08-11) [universal-darwin10.0] [2009-08-28 23:18:19] INFO WEBrick::HTTPServer#start: pid=845 port=3000 Then when I got to generated page, it seems like it isn't working with sqlite3. How do I fix?   Yesterday I (a professional rugby prop of somewhat limited intellect) landed in http://htmlagilitypack.codeplex.com/ and found myself stranded in a town with no signposts. The locals don't need signposts - they know their way around - so who gives a hoot about visitors? Well I'm a visitor and I'm lost. Here's my plea to the good burgesses of Codeplex-sans-signs: HELP!! Let me back-track and explain what landed me at the bottom of this tangled ruck. There's a "Download" button positioned near the top-right of the Codeplex web page, right? Like the Sword of Damocles, a down-arrow to the left of the button indicates, presumably, what a download would include: CURRENT 1.4.0 Stable DATE Fri May 7 2010 at 7:00 AM STATUS Stable With a simple-minded confidence that has since deserted me (the confidence - not the simple-mindedness), I clicked "Download". This introduced 3 new files to my computer: HtmlAgilityPack.dll, HtmlAgilityPack.pdb, and HtmlAgilityPack.XML This is when the first stab of doubt penetrated that globe between my cauliflower ears that I call a head. Where's the dot cs? Somewhere in Codeplex, I'd read advice to another lost soul to "download and build the HTMLAgilityPack solution". As I've done so many times as an All Black prop, I glared at the opposition front row - ah, I mean the 3 new files. Shouldn't one of them have a ".cs" on the back of his jersey - er, on the end of its name? Or is this just how they play the game in Codeplex-sans-signs? Undaunted (props have more courage than sense) I packed into my first C# scrum. The half-back feeds the ball in, and the front rows collapse - er, the debugging stops at this line of my code: "HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlDocument doc = new HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlDocument();" Then the Referee blows his whistle and announces one of those verdicts that's utterly indecipherable to your average loose-head prop: Locating source for 'C:\Source\htmlagilitypack\Trunk\HtmlAgilityPack\HtmlDocument.cs'. FOUR files this time: HAPExplorer.zip, HtmlAgilityPack.1.4.0.Source.zip, HtmlAgilityPack.1.4.0.zip, HtmlAgilityPack.Documentation.chm But... is this not the same place arrived at recently by my flat-mate Chaz, journalist extraordinaire? (Chaz, if you're reading this, I'm not plugging for nothing - just write kindly about me in your next report, okay?) Didn't these same four files flummox Chaz The Great? He told me about it. Chaz left a message with Codeplex and then solved the problem by just walking away. Typical journalist, huh. But I'm not like that. I don't walk away. I'm made of the sort of stubborn stuff that becomes an All Black prop. Hence this impassioned plea: GOOD TOWNSFOLK OF CODEPLEX-SANS-SIGNS, WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT? Can somebody point me to Main Street? I'm willing to prostrate myself and grovel to the first kind face that passes in front of my rapidly clouding sight. So help me, I'd even tug my forelock if I had one! • Initializing SD card in SPI issues

  Sorry for the length of this question, but I thought it best to show as much detail to fend of questions asking if I had done A when I had already done A... ;-) I've had a look at the "micro-SD card initialization using SPI interface" thread and didn't see any answers that matched my issue (i.e. things I haven't already tried). I have a similar issue where I'm trying to access a SD card through a micro-controller's SPI interface (specifically an HC908). I've tried following the flow charts in the Physical Layer Simplified Specification v2.00 and it seems to initialize correctly on Transcend 1GB & 2GB and an AE&C 1GB card. But I'm having problems on 3 other random cards from my stash of old cards that I've used on my camera. My code is all HC908 assembler. I scoped out the SPI clock line and during initialization it's running about 350kHz (the only speed multiplier that the HC908 supplies at my low MCU clock speed that falls within the 100-400kHz window). • [android] MediaRecorder prepare() causes segfault

  Folks, I have a situation where my MediaRecorder instance causes a segfault. I'm working with a HTC Hero, Android 1.5+APIs. I've tried all variations, including 3gpp and H.263 and reducing the video resolution to 320x240. What am I missing? The state machine causes 4 MediaPlayer beeps and then turns on the video camera. Here's the pertinent source: UPDATE: ADDING SURFACE CREATE INFO I have rebooted the device based on previous answer to similar question. UPDATE 2: I seem to be following the MediaRecorder state machine perfectly, and if I trap out the MR code, the blank surface displays perfectly and everything else functions perfectly. I can record videos manually and play back via MediaPlayer in my code, so there should be nothing wrong with the underlying code. I've copied sample code on the surface and surfaceHolder code. I've looked at the MR instance in the Debug perspective in Eclipse and see that all (known) variables seem to be instantiated correctly. • Design for Vacation Tracking System

  I have been tasked with developing a system for tracking our company's paid time-off (vacation, sick days, etc.) At the moment we are using an Excel spreadsheet on a shared network drive, and it works pretty well, but we are concerned that we won't be able to "trust" employees forever and sometimes we run into locking issues when two people try to open the spreadsheet at once. So we are trying to build something a little more robust. I would like some input on this design in terms of maintainability, scalability, extensibility, etc. It's a pretty simple workflow we need to represent right now: I started with a basic MS Access schema like this: Employees (EmpID int, EmpName varchar(50), AllowedDays int) Vacations (VacationID int, EmpID int, BeginDate datetime, EndDate datetime) But we don't want to spend a lot of time building a schema and database like this and have to change it later, so I think I am going to go with something that will be easier to expand through configuration. Right now the vacation table has this schema: Vacations (VacationID int, PropName varchar(50), PropValue varchar(50)) And the table will be populated with data like this: VacationID | PropName | PropValue -----------+--------------+------------------ 1 | EmpID | 4 1 | EmpName | James Jones 1 | Reason | Vacation 1 | BeginDate | 2/24/2010 1 | EndDate | 2/30/2010 1 | Destination | Spectate Swamp 2 | ... | ... I think this is a pretty good, extensible design, we can easily add new properties to the vacation like the destination or maybe approval status, etc. I wasn't too sure how to go about managing the database of valid properties, I thought of putting them in a separate PropNames table but it gets complicated to manage all the different data types and people say that you shouldn't put CLR type names into a SQL database, so I decided to use XML instead, here is the schema: <VacationProperties> <PropertyNames>EmpID,EmpName,Reason,BeginDate,EndDate,Destination</PropertyNames> <PropertyTypes>System.Int32,System.String,System.String,System.DateTime,System.DateTime,System.String</PropertyTypes> <PropertiesRequired>true,true,false,true,true,false</PropertiesRequired> </VacationProperties> I might need more fields than that, I'm not completely sure. I've used this code to implement the Web Services: public class VacationConfigurationService : WebService { [WebMethod] public void UpdateConfiguration(string xml) { // Above code goes here } } Which was pretty easy, although I'm still working on a way to validate that XML against some kind of schema as there's no error-checking yet. I also created a few different services for other operations like VacationSubmissionService, VacationReportService, VacationDataService, VacationAuthenticationService, etc. The whole Service Oriented Architecture looks like this: And because the workflow itself might change, I have been working on a way to integrate the WF workflow system with MS Visio, which everybody at the office already knows how to use so they could make changes pretty easily. We have a diagram that looks like the following (it's kind of hard to read but the main items are Activities, Authenticators, Validators, Transformers, Processors, and Data Connections, they're all analogous to the services in the SOA diagram above). The requirements for this system are: (Note - I don't control these, they were given to me by management) Main workflow must interface with Excel spreadsheet, probably through VBA macros (to ease the transition to the new system) Alerts should integrate with MS Outlook, Lotus Notes, and SMS (text messages). We also want to interface it with the company Voice Mail system but that is not a "hard" requirement. Performance requirements: Must handle 250,000 Transactions Per Second Should be able to handle up to 20,000 employees (right now we have 3) 99.99% uptime ("four nines") expected Must be secure against outside hacking, but users cannot be required to enter a username/password. Platforms: Must support Windows XP/Vista/7, Linux, iPhone, Blackberry, DOS 2.0, VAX, IRIX, PDP-11, Apple IIc. Time to complete: 6 to 8 weeks. My questions are: Is this a good design for the system so far? Am I using all of the recommended best practices for these technologies? How do I integrate the Visio diagram above with the Windows Workflow Foundation to call the ConfigurationService and persist workflow changes? Am I missing any important components? Will this be extensible enough to support any scenario via end-user configuration? Will the system scale to the above performance requirements? Will we need any expensive hardware to run it? Are there any "gotchas" I should know about with respect to cross-platform compatibility? For example would it be difficult to convert this to an iPhone app? How long would you expect this to take? (We've dedicated 1 week for testing so I'm thinking maybe 5 weeks?)

• DLL Config in Mono

  Hi, I'm trying to pick up Svn.NET (http://www.pumacode.org/projects/svndotnet/) library for use in my Mono project. I tried compiling its mockapp - svnmockapp project (http://www.pumacode.org/projects/svndotnet/browser/trunk/SvnMockApp) , I am able to get the references right and get it compiled right. I understand that it references 2 other modules libapr (libapr-1.so.0) and svn_client (libsvn_client-1.so.0) , by which I've created PumaCode.SvnDotNet.dll.config in /bin/Debug . That is all I've done to tried to try to get the mockapp at least outputting something to show that it is indeed interfacing SVN. Nevertheless, it is not working.   So I am using the Uplodify plugin to allow users to upload multiple images at once. The problem is I need to set a minimum width and height for images. Let's say 150x150px is the smallest image users can upload. How can I set this limitation in the Uploadify plugin? When user tries to upload smaller picture, I would like to display some error message as well. Instead, create a separate DbCompiledModel for each type of server being used. I am at a complete loss - I've scoured google with almost every different variation of that error message above I can think of but to no avail. Here are the things i can verify... Also note - i'm using Entityframework from Nuget... Another Note I was using the default visual studio template that creates your MVC project with the account pages and other stuff. I JUST removed all references to the added files because they were trying to use the "DefaultConnection" which didn't exist - so i thought those files may be what was causing the error - however still no luck after removing them - I just wanted to let everyone know i'm using the visual studio MVC project template which pre-creates a bunch of files. I will be trying to recreate this all from a blank MVC project which doesn't have those files - i will update this once i test that Other References It appears someone else is having the same issues I am - the only difference is they are using sql server - I tried tweaking all my code to follow the suggestions on this stackoverflow question/answer here but still to no avail

• MediaRecorder prepare() causes segfault

  Folks, I have a situation where my MediaRecorder instance causes a segfault. I'm working with a HTC Hero, Android 1.5+APIs. I've tried all variations, including 3gpp and H.263 and reducing the video resolution to 320x240. What am I missing? The state machine causes 4 MediaPlayer beeps and then turns on the video camera. Here's the pertinent source: UPDATE: ADDING SURFACE CREATE INFO I have rebooted the device based on previous answer to similar question. UPDATE 2: I seem to be following the MediaRecorder state machine perfectly, and if I trap out the MR code, the blank surface displays perfectly and everything else functions perfectly. I can record videos manually and play back via MediaPlayer in my code, so there should be nothing wrong with the underlying code. I've copied sample code on the surface and surfaceHolder code. I've looked at the MR instance in the Debug perspective in Eclipse and see that all (known) variables seem to be instantiated correctly. The setter calls are all now implemented in the exaxct order specced in the state diagram. • Starting to make progress Was [MediaRecorder prepare() causes segfault]

  Folks, I have a situation where my MediaRecorder instance causes a segfault. I'm working with a HTC Hero, Android 1.5+APIs. I've tried all variations, including 3gpp and H.263 and reducing the video resolution to 320x240. What am I missing? The state machine causes 4 MediaPlayer beeps and then turns on the video camera. Here's the pertinent source: UPDATE: ADDING SURFACE CREATE INFO I have rebooted the device based on previous answer to similar question. UPDATE 2: I seem to be following the MediaRecorder state machine perfectly, and if I trap out the MR code, the blank surface displays perfectly and everything else functions perfectly. I can record videos manually and play back via MediaPlayer in my code, so there should be nothing wrong with the underlying code. I've copied sample code on the surface and surfaceHolder code. I've looked at the MR instance in the Debug perspective in Eclipse and see that all (known) variables seem to be instantiated correctly. The setter calls are all now implemented in the exaxct order specced in the state diagram. UPDATE 3: I've tried all permission combinations: CAMERA + RECORD_AUDIO+RECORD_VIDEO, CAMERA only, RECORD_AUDIO+RECORD_VIDEO This is driving me bats! :))) UPDATE 4: starting to work... but with puzzling results. Based on info in bug #5050, I spaced everything out. I have now gotten the recorder to actually save a snippet of video (a whole 2160 bytes!), and I did it by spacing the view visibility, prepare() and start() w.a.a.a.a.a.y out (like several hundred milliseconds for each step). I think what happens is that either bringing the surface VISIBLE has delayed processing or else the start() steps on the prepare() operation before it is complete. What is now happening, however, is that my simple timer tickdown counter is getting clobbered. Is it now that the preview and save operations are causing my main process thread to become unavailable? I'm recording only 10fps at 176x144. Referencing the above code, I've added a timer tickdown after setPreviewDisplay(), prepare() and start().   Hi I cannot seem to bind a command to a button.I have a treeview on the left showing Country City etc.. This does not fire! The reason is not firing is because I m binding the RootViewModel but the command that is bound in zaml is in the cityViewModel. How Do I pass the datacontext from one view to the other? or how do I make the button fire. I need the command to be in the cityViewModel. Any Suggestions on how I bind it? • treeview binding wpf cannot bind nested property in a class

  Hi all New to wpf and therefore struggling a bit. I am putting together a quick demo before we go for the full implementation I have a treeview on the left with Continent Country City structure when a user select the city it should populate some textboxes in a tabcontrol on the right hand side I made it sort of work but cannot make it work with composite objects. • Why / When / How is this Android serviceBinder resetting to null?

  I've written a ListActivity for Android 2.1 which is used to display a list of event categories. As the user selects a category, the program calls a web service to retrieve a list of sub-events. For example, a top level event might be "soccer" and when the user selects this the web service would return various soccer associations (e.g. "english", "french", "german", etc.) and display them in a new list. The following code seems to work occasionally, however sometimes the call to the service (in EventsListTask) fails because the serviceBinder is null. Is there anything I need to watch out for when doing this? Am I calling the target intent incorrectly?   Hi Everyone, I have a simple form to enter details of a new case (kase), it's working well and clicking submit stores the information and takes the user to the show.html.erb page. However, I wanted to move part of the form to the sidebar - to make things a little easier to see and use for the user, however, when I moved the section to the sidebar - anything entered during either a creation or edit within those sidebar fields is ignored.   Hi all, This is a question about Paypal Mass Pay IPN. My platform is PHP & mySQL. All over the Paypal support website, I have found IPN for only payments made. I need an IPN on similar lines for Mass Pay but could not find it. Also tried experimenting with already existing Mass Pay NVP code, but that did not work either. What I am trying to do is that for all the recipients to whom the payment has been successfully sent via Mass Pay, I want to record their email, amount and unique_id in my own database table. If possible, I want to capture the payment status as well, whether it has been a success of failure and based upon the same, I need to do some in house processing.
