• How can I install git on RHEL 6?

  I'm trying to install Git on a RHEL6 development server, I have experience with Ubuntu but this is my first time working with RHEL (I'm a developer trying to fill in for a recently departed Linux Sysadmin). I've set up two additional repos (EPEL and IUS) for other packages needed for a Magento install. Output of yum repolist: [root@box]# yum repolist Loaded plugins: product-id, security, subscription-manager Updating certificate-based repositories. repo id repo name status epel Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux 6 - x86_64 7,841 ius IUS for RHEL 6Server - x86_64 135 Most of what I've read indicates a simple 'yum install git' should work with EPEL enabled, but I get the dreaded [root@box]# yum install git Loaded plugins: product-id, security, subscription-manager Updating certificate-based repositories. Setting up Install Process No package git available. Error: Nothing to do Same goes for git-daemon, etc. I've tracked down a number of git RPMs such as this one at repoforge but they require a train of dependencies that seems to never end. I've also toyed with compiling it manually but the rabbit hole to get make working seems to go even deeper. I'm convinced there's a simple oversight somewhere keeping me from being able to install from the EPEL repo, but I'm a rookie at all this. Thanks in advance for help/pointers/additional resources.

• Decrease in disk performance after partitioning and encryption, is this much of a drop normal?

  I have a server that I only have remote access to. Earlier in the week I repartitioned the 2 disk raid as follows: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/sda1_crypt 363G 1.8G 343G 1% / tmpfs 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /lib/init/rw udev 2.0G 140K 2.0G 1% /dev tmpfs 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /dev/shm /dev/sda5 461M 26M 412M 6% /boot /dev/sda7 179G 8.6G 162G 6% /data The raid consists of 2 x 300gb SAS 15k disks. Prior to the changes I made, it was being used as a single unencrypted root parition and hdparm -t /dev/sda was giving readings around 240mb/s, which I still get if I do it now: /dev/sda: Timing buffered disk reads: 730 MB in 3.00 seconds = 243.06 MB/sec Since the repartition and encryption, I get the following on the separate partitions: Unencrypted /dev/sda7: /dev/sda7: Timing buffered disk reads: 540 MB in 3.00 seconds = 179.78 MB/sec Unencrypted /dev/sda5: /dev/sda5: Timing buffered disk reads: 476 MB in 2.55 seconds = 186.86 MB/sec Encrypted /dev/mapper/sda1_crypt: /dev/mapper/sda1_crypt: Timing buffered disk reads: 150 MB in 3.03 seconds = 49.54 MB/sec I expected a drop in performance on the encrypted partition, but not that much, but I didn't expect I would get a drop in performance on the other partitions at all. • Creating a test database with copied data *and* its own data

  I'd like to create a test database that each day is refreshed with data from the production database. BUT, I'd like to be able to create records in the test database and retain them rather than having them be overwritten. I'm wondering if there is a simple straightforward way to do this. Both databases run on the same server, so apparently that rules out replication? For clarification, here is what I would like to happen: Test database is created with production data I create some test records that I want to keep running on the test server (basically so I can have example records that I can play with) Next day, the database is completely refreshed, but the records I created that day are retained. Records that were untouched that day are replaced with records from the production database. The complication is if a record in the production database is deleted, I want it to be deleted on the test database too, so I do want to get rid of records in the test database that no longer exist in the production database, unless those records were created within the test database. Seems like the only way to do this would be to have some sort of table storing metadata about the records being created? • Heavy write to Galera cluster - table locked, cluster practically unusable

  I set up Galera Cluster on 3 nodes. It works perfectly for reading data. I have done simple application to make some test on the cluster. Unfortunately I have to say that the Cluster fails totally when I try to do some writing. Maybe it can be configured differently or I do sth wrong? I have a simple stored procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE testproc(IN p_idWorker INTEGER) BEGIN DECLARE t_id INT DEFAULT -1; DECLARE t_counter INT ; UPDATE test SET idWorker = p_idWorker WHERE counter = 0 AND idWorker IS NULL limit 1; SELECT id FROM test WHERE idWorker = p_idWorker LIMIT 1 INTO t_id; SELECT ABS(MAX(counter)/MIN(counter)) FROM TEST INTO t_counter; SELECT COUNT(*) FROM test WHERE counter = 0 INTO t_counter; IF t_id >= 0 THEN UPDATE test SET counter = counter + 1 WHERE id = t_id; UPDATE test SET idWorker = NULL WHERE id = t_id; SELECT t_counter AS res; ELSE SELECT 'end' AS res; END IF; END $$ Now my simple C# application creates for example 3 MySQL clients in separate threads and each one executes the procedure every 100ms until there is no record where column 'counter' = 0. Unfortunately - after about 10 seconds sth is going bad. On servers there is process 'query_end' that never ends. After that - you cannot make update on the test table, MySQL returns: ERROR 1205 (HY000): Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction . You cant even restart mysql. What you can do is to restart server, sometimes whole cluster. Is Galera Cluster so unreliable when you do massive concucurrent writing/updates? Hard to believe.

  How would I be able to correctly redirect a person who visits my site to my 404 page? More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Any ideas on how to solve this? I have tried switching from subdomain to my normal path, still get errors.

• Sending same email through two different accounts on different domains using Outlook 2010

  I am a programmer and don't have experience in Outlook configurations. Our company has two email domains namely xyz.com and xyz.biz. Each employee has an email id on one of these domains but not both depending on the project they are working on. The problem we are facing is that when a communication email is sent from the Accounts, HR, Admin, etc departments, they need to send the email twice. Once through the xyz.com account to all employees with an email address on xyz.com and once through xyz.biz to all employees with an email address on xyz.biz. I am not sure why they have to send two separate emails but the IT team has directed all departments to do so as there is no other solution according to them. Even though two different groups have been created, sending an email to employees in a group of xyz.biz from xyz.com does not seem to work. I want to know if Outlook provides a feature such that we can configure some kind of rules to send an email through an id on xyz.com to all users on xyz.com and the same email gets sent automatically to users on xyz.biz through an id on xyz.biz. The only technical details I know is that we are using Exchange 2003 and the IT team claims that this is a limitation causing the problem. Edit: Our company is split into two main divisions depending on the type of projects. I am pretty sure I use domain XYZ wheras the employees in the other division use the doman ABC to log in into the windows machine or outlook itself. Also, employees in domain XYZ can access the machines on the network in domain ABC but not the other way around

I'm struggling to think of a way to convert this to a conventional CSV easily. As far as I can think, I'd have to remove the labels from each line, enclose each line in quotes, then delimit them with commas. Obviously that's made a little more difficult to script though seeing as some fields (address, for instance) contain comma-delimited data. I'm not good with regex at all. What's the best way to tackle this?

• Mysql Query - That Is Returning Blatanty Incorrect Result

  I am building a VPS node that is running Ubuntu 10.10LTS, Apache2, Mysql 5.1 and php5. I could not log in to my website admin through the browser, even though I am using the correct login details. So I logged in from the command line to check the results. When I run this query I get expected results: mysql> select * from users; +----+----------+-----------------------+----------+ | id | username | email | password | +----+----------+-----------------------+----------+ | 1 | myUserName | [email protected] | myPassword | +----+----------+-----------------------+----------+ And the same goes for this query: mysql> select * from users where id = 1; +----+----------+-----------------------+----------+ | id | username | email | password | +----+----------+-----------------------+----------+ | 1 | myUserName | [email protected] | myPassword | +----+----------+-----------------------+----------+ 1 row in set (0.00 sec) But when I run this query I get this 'unexpected response': mysql> select * from users where username = 'myUserName' and password = 'myPassword'; Empty set (0.00 sec) I am not sure why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW.. I will be encrypting the user details but for now I just want to get it set up. Please help, Thanks

• Unable to install drivers of any kind of device on windows 8.1

  Windows 8.1 is unable to install drivers. First, I wanted to install Android ADB drivers for my Chinese Android Phone. I downloaded the relevant drivers from the manufacturers site and enabled USB debugging on my phone and tried to install it but Windows failed to find any drivers in the driver folder. After searching on google, I got to know that I will have to edit the win_usb.inf file in order to install the drivers so I did the editing part also. Added these line: %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C03 %CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C03 to both NTamd and NTx86 sections but the problem persists. Phone's current hardware id is: VID_0BB4&PID_0C03 I noticed that I need hardware ID with &MI_01 appended at the end. But Windows detects the device with the above hardware ID. I have the webcam drivers so I uninstalled WebCam Drivers to check if they can be installed back but I am also not able to install drivers for it. Windows is detecting the camera without that &MI_01 part. Please help. I cannot install webcam nor my android phone.

  Here's the question... Considering 192 trillion records, what should my considerations be? My main concern is speed. Here's the table... The SELECT's will be done much more frequently than the INSERT. However, occasionally I want to add a few hundred records at a time. Load-wise, there will be nothing for hours then maybe a few thousand queries all at once. Don't think I can normalize any more (need the p values in a combination) The database as a whole is very relational. This will be the largest table by far (next largest is about 900k) UPDATE (08/11/2010) Interestingly, I've been given a second option... Instead of 192 trillion I could store 2.6*10^16 (15 zeros, meaning 26 Quadrillion)... But in this second option I would only need to store one bigint(18) as the index in a table. That's it - just the one column. So I would just be checking for the existence of a value. Occasionally adding records, never deleting them. So that makes me think there must be a better solution then mysql for simply storing numbers... Given this second option, should I take it or stick with the first... [edit] Just got news of some testing that's been done - 100 million rows with this setup returns the query in 0.0004 seconds [/edit]

Depending on the result of this validation, I would like to stay on tab 1, or go to tab 2, and refresh the tabs' content. I thought adding an update attribute to p:ajax would render the whole tabview but only the tabs and/or the tabs' content is re rendered. And weirdest of all, if I change update=":form:tabview" to update=":form" or update="@form", I only receive the tab's content in the ajax response - the component disappears from the page! My bean is viewscoped, I'm using Primefaces 3.5, JSF 2.1 and Tomcat 7. Any idea? Thanks.

  Right now I have a RadToolTip inside of a RadGrid. The RadGrid displays a field from the datasource called "Value". The RadToolTip displays the same thing. I want to add another RadGrid inside of the RadToolTip. The function setting up the datasource of that second RadGrid should take "Value" as a parameter? How do I do that? • MVC - Ajax form - return partial view doesnt update in <div> target

  I have an index view that I want to update automatically as the user types in a client id. I got something similiar to work (only it was updating just a label) - but this will not work. What happens is the partial is just rendered by itself (not in place of the UpdateTargetID). So the data is rendered on a new page.   This is driving me crazy :-) I'm trying to get a ASP.NET 3.5 GridView to show a selected value as string when being displayed, and to show a DropDownList to allow me to pick a value from a given list of options when being edited. Seems simple enough?   I'm developing an Asynchronous Game Server using .Net Socket Asynchronous Model( BeginAccept/EndAccept...etc.) The problem I'm facing is described like that: When I have only one client connected, the server response time is very fast but once a second client connects, the server response time increases too much. I've measured the time from a client sends a message to the server until it gets the reply in both cases. I found that the average time in case of one client is about 17ms and in case of 2 clients about 280ms!!! What I really see is that: When 2 clients are connected and only one of them is moving(i.e. requesting service from the server) it is equivalently equal to the case when only one client is connected(i.e. fast response). However, when the 2 clients move at the same time(i.e. requests service from the server at the same time) their motion becomes very slow (as if the server replies each one of them in order i.e. not simultaneously). Basically, what I am doing is that: When a client requests a permission for motion from the server and the server grants him the request, the server then broadcasts the new position of the client to all the players. So if two clients are moving in the same time, the server is eventually trying to broadcast to both clients the new position of each of them at the same time. EX: Client1 asks to go to position (2,2) Client2 asks to go to position (5,5) Server sends to each of Client1 & Client2 the same two messages: message1: "Client1 at (2,2)" message2: "Client2 at (5,5)" I believe that the problem comes from the fact that Socket class is thread safe according MSDN documentation http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.net.sockets.socket.aspx.
