  Let's say I have the following tables my_profile_data ------------- integer: profile_id date: date_changed string: value my_profile ------------- integer: profile_id string: name I want to get the most recent profile information. In plain SQL this would look something like: select mpd.profile_id, mpd.value, max(mpd.date_changed) from my_profile_data mpd, my_profile mp where mpd.profile_id = mp.profile_id and mp.name='The Profile I Want' group by mpd.profile_id I've tried different variants of the following JPQL query, but cant get it to work.   Hello, I am using sphinx as a search engine on my website its working perfect and I have no complain with it. The only thing it lacks is, it does not allow me to search articles whose query length is more than 15 words. I know in reality people don't use more than 3-4 words i want to use it for finding duplicate contents. I was wondering if there is any alternative solution to sphinx. I want to cope with duplicate contents. My main articles table is in innodb but I am also caching articles into MyISAM table as well for full text searching but when I search an article it takes ages to perform one search. Its not the query problem, i think mysql lacks the fulltext searching facility. Thanks Jason

  I have some extremely complex queries that I need to use to generate a report in my application. I'm using symfony as my framework and doctrine as my ORM. My question is this: What is the best way to pass in highly-complex sql queries directly to Doctrine without converting them to the Doctrine Query Language? I've been reading about the Raw_SQL extension but it appears that you still need to pass the query in sections (like from()). Is there anything for just dumping in a bunch of raw sql commands?

• Combine multiple dataset columns to one dataset

  I have multiple datasets that I would like to combine into one. There is a common ID field that can be associated to each row. Calling Merge on the dataset will add additional rows to the dataset, but I would like to combine the additional columns. There are too many fields to do this in one query and therefore would make it unmanageable. Each individual query would be able to handle ordering to ensure the data is placed in the correct row. For Example lets say I have two queries resulting in two datasets: SELECT ID, colA, colB SELECT colC, colD The resulting dataset would look like ID colA colB colC colD 1 a b c d 2 e f g h Any ideas on ways to accomplish this?

  I am basically looking to bind a search query to a gridview which is nice, but this must be done by a users input query (sort of like a search function). I can get single values and rows returned, but how would I get it to search all columns in my database for the inputted values and return it? I want to fetch some records from database i.e. select * from tblDepartment where department_id in ( select department_id from tblMap where Guest_Id = @GuestId ) I have taken two DataTable. i.e. tblDepartment, tblMap Now I want to fetch this result and want to store it in third DataTable. How can I do this. • hibernate and ehcache replication

  Hi, I am working on a cache replication solution between nodes Node A - master node = Hibernate + Database + Ehcache as secondary cache Node B - regional node= Ehcache as prmiary cache. no Hibernate Node B is used only as near-by cache for query. Now I am updating data (Say SudentInfo) in Node A, it gets persisted and cached correctly. On replication side (I am using JMS) it sends a message to Node B. But the problem is, the message it sends is of instance CacheEntry(deep Inside Element), there is no way to resurrect the original object (StudentInfo). What I got in node B is CacheEntry with some attributes of Students but not actually an Student Object. Please note that I don't need Hibernate session/persistence in Node B, node B is only for fast query, persistence is done through Node A. So has anybody tried any solution like this? Is there any way to convert CacheEntry to actual object? or Tell ehcache to replicate original object rather than CacheEntry. Thanks for the help

• How do I use WMI with Delphi without drastically increasing the application's file size?

  I am using Delphi 2010, and when I created a console application that prints "Hello World", it takes 111 kb. If I want to query WMI with Delphi, I add WBEMScripting_TLB, ActiveX, and Variants units to my project. If I perform a simple WMI query, my executable size jumps to 810 kb. I Is there anyway to query WMI without such a large addition to the size of the file? Forgive my ignorance, but why do I not have this issue with C++? • Entity Framework 4 relationship management in POCO Templates - More lazy than FixupCollection?

  I've been taking a look at EF4 POCO templates in beta 2. The FixupCollection looks fine for maintaining the model correctness after updating the relationship collection property (i.e. product.Orders it would set the order.Product reference ). But what about support for handling the scenario when some of those Order objects are removed from the context? The use-case of maintaining cascading deletes in the in-memory model. The old Typed DataSet model used to do this by performing the query through the container to derive the relationship results. Like the DataSet, this would require a reference to the ObjectContext inside the entity class so that it could query the top-level Order collection. Better support for Separation of Concerns in the ObjectContext would be required. It looks like EF is not suited to this use-case that DataSets did out of the box.... am I right?

• Images missing after moving Django to new server

  I'm moving Django project to new server. I'm newbie in Django, and I don't know where should be upload folder. There are all images which should be displayed on website. In config file I haven't seen upload folder I could specify, so I'm guessing it always should be the same location for django projects or I just can't find it. Locations are saved in database. When I've put uploaded files into media folder, so url was like domain.co.uk/media/upload/media/images/year/month/day/image_name.ext and the same is on the old website, images on website ware still missing. All images are visible if I put url by hand, but django doesn't seems to see files. But if I query for all properties related to Chad Sexton, I don't see 311 mentioned. For instance, lets say I have a Car model class and want to add one price attribute (database column) per currency, given a list of currencies. What is the best way to do this? I had an approach that I thought would work, but it didn't exactly.   I have a fat VB.NET Winform client that is using the an old asmx style web service. Very often, when I perform query that takes a while, I get the subject error. The error happenes The error seems to occur in < 1 min, which is far less that the web service timeout value that I have set or the timeout value on the ADO Command object that is performing the query within the web server. It seems to occur whenever I am performing a large query that expects to return a lot of rows or when I am sending up a large amount of data to the web service. • Specifying culture for http request/reponse

  I have a ReSTful web service which needs to parse culture-sensitive data from the request. This data could either be in an XML body or part of the query string. Is there any acepted way of determining which culture the data is being sent in (and by extension the culture in which the response should be sent)? One option is simply to specify to the clients the culture in which all requests should be sent. A friendlier option seems to be to allow the client to specify the culture. I've considered: a) using the accept-language http header to encode this information. b) using the xml:lang attribute for XML POSTs, and an extra field for query strings (e.g. ...&culture=en-GB) http://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-accept-lang-locales warns of limitations in using the accept-language header, but most of the warnings seem to center around requests originating from browsers. In my case the requests will come from other applications. All advice greatly appreciated!

  Im currently looking into an easy way to query and store Latitude/Longitude for a given address. There are a plentitude of services out there, but none actually allows me to store the data I retieve (i.e. Google Maps API TOS, Yahoo! Maps API TOS). As I wan't to use them for a distance search I can't really query the data on the fly. Are there any services that acutally allow to store the location you get for an adress? And I want to do it more or less worldwide. (As a side question, I might need the other way around soon, getting from latitude/longitude to an address or place name, but this falls under the same terms as the above).

   In my previous post, I showed how to create a RSS feed using WCF Syndication.  Next, I'll show how to add the additional tags needed to turn a RSS feed into an iTunes podcast.   A podcast is merely a RSS feed with some special characteristics: iTunes RSS tags.  These are additional tags beyond the standard RSS spec.  Apple has a good page on the requirements. Audio file enclosure.  This is a link to the audio file (such as mp3) hosted by your site.  Apple doesn't host the audio, they just read the meta-data from the RSS feed into their system. The SyndicationFeed class supports both AttributeExtensions & ElementExtensions to add custom tags to the RSS feeds. Once you have created your feed, you can use the Feed Validator tool to make sure it is up to spec.  Or you can use iTunes: Launch iTunes. In the Advanced menu, select Subscribe to Podcast. Enter your feed URL in the text box and click OK. After you've verified your feed is solid & good to go, you can submit it to iTunes.  Launch iTunes. In the left navigation column, click on iTunes Store to open the store. Once the store loads, click on Podcasts along the top navigation bar to go to the Podcasts page. In the right column of the Podcasts page, click on the Submit a Podcast link. Follow the instructions on the Submit a Podcast page. Here are the full instructions.  Once they have approved your podcast, it will be available within iTunes. RIM has also gotten into the podcasting business...which is great for BlackBerry users.  They accept the same enhanced-RSS feed that iTunes uses, so just create an account with them & submit the feed's URL.  It goes through a similar approval process to iTunes.  BlackBerry users must be on BlackBerry 6 OS or download the Podcast App from App World. In my next post, I'll show how to build the podcast feed dynamically from the ID3 tags within the MP3 files.

  Currently, I have an HQL query that returns all Members who possess ANY Award from a set of specified Awards: from Member m left join m.awards as a where a.name in ("Trophy","Ribbon"); What I now need is HQL that will return all Members who possess ALL Awards specified in the set of Awards. So, assuming this data: Joe has Trophy, Medal Sue has Trophy, Ribbon Tom has Trophy, Ribbon, Medal The query above would return Joe, Sue, and Tom because all three possess at least one of Trophy or Ribbon. But I need to return only Sue and Tom, because they are the only ones who possess all of the specified awards (Trophy and Ribbon).
