  Problem Description: Write a program in any language with the shortest number of characters that solves the following problem: Given a collection of cities and the cost of travel between each pair of them, find the cheapest way of visiting all of the cities and returning to your starting point. All solutions must take at most polynomial time. Input will be in the form of a text file named simply "i". The text file will contain data in the following format: city1# city2# cost$ cityA# cityB# cost$ ... Each element in the file is separated with a space, and there is a newline at the end of every line. Code count does not include whitespace. • Run both Authorize Filter and Action Filter on unauthenticated ASP.NET MVC request

  I have decorated my base controller with a couple of action filters. They work fine. One of those filters sets up the request - does things like set the culture based on the domain, etc. I also have a handful of actions that require authorization using the Authorize attribute. My problem is that when an user attempts to request a page they are not authorized to access, the authorization filter kicks in and redirects them to a page telling them that they cannot vie the page. The issue is that the action filters never run so the culture and other request data is never set. This effectively causes language to be wrong in the view and other data to be missing. I know that authorization filters run first but my question is this: How can I design this such that I can ensure that certain methods are always run before the view is returned, regardless of the authorization.   I've been trying for a couple of days now to learn UDK, but I seem to be stuck at making that leap to understanding how everything works together. I understand the syntax, that's all well and good, and I pretty much get how classes and .ini files interact. As for the API, I have the entire reference as pretty decent Doxygen-style HTML output. What I'm looking for is a sort of intermediate tutorial on game creation from scratch (as opposed to modding UT3 itself), more advanced than just learning language syntax, but not yet to the level of going through the API step by step. I'm looking for some guide to the structure of the internals - how GameInfo and PlayerController interact, where Pawn comes in, etc. - a way to visualize the big picture. Does anyone have a particular favorite intermediate-level tutorials (or set of tutorials) that they used when first learning UDK?

• Brute force characters into a textbox in c#

  Hey everyone, I am VERY new to programming and the only language I know is C# So I will have to stick with that... I want to make a program that "test passwords" to see how long they would take to break with a basic brute force attack. So what I did was make 2 text boxes. (textbox1 and textbox2) and wrote the program so if the text boxes had the input, a "correct password" label would appear, but i want to write the program so that textbox2 will run a brute force algorithm in it, and when it comes across the correct password, it will stop. I REALLY need help, and if you could just post my attached code with the correct additives in it that would be great. The program so far is extremely simple, but I am very new to this, so.   Hi pros, I am a student and I do freelance here and there when I have opportunity. I believe my strongest language is C#. I don't really know what is going on in real programming world, so I was wondering if WPF did take over WinForms? I know the differences between two and how two can be used simultaneously but, I just don't want to invest my time in learning dying technologies, I hope you understand. So, for windows desktop programming what would you recommend to master WinForms, WPF or maybe both? • asp.net ajax toolkit combobox dosen't work in hidden div

  i have a combobox inside a hidden div which i use css display = none to make it invisible, but when i make the div visible by setting display = block, the combobox just show the input and its button and ul list all have css as display = 'none', visibility ='hidden', i can tell it is done by combobox inbuild javascript because i tried to use javascript to set the css manually with no luck. This article says ... the Java bytecode doesn’t support dynamic method invocation. There are three supported invocations modes : invokestatic, invokespecial, invokeinterface or invokevirtual. These modes allows to call methods with known signature. We talk of strongly typed language. This allows to to make some checks directly at compile time. On the other side, the dynamic languages use dynamic types. So we can call a method unknown at the compile time, but that’s completely impossible with the Java bytecode. What am I missing?

  I have some extremely complex queries that I need to use to generate a report in my application. I'm using symfony as my framework and doctrine as my ORM. My question is this: What is the best way to pass in highly-complex sql queries directly to Doctrine without converting them to the Doctrine Query Language? I've been reading about the Raw_SQL extension but it appears that you still need to pass the query in sections (like from()). Is there anything for just dumping in a bunch of raw sql commands?

  Hello, I have about 2k of file that are currently in lower case like: file_one.cfr file_two.cfr .... I am searching for a fast way to rename them to upper case so they would be like; FILE_ONE.cfr FILE_TWO.cfr .... If I use from my shell; for i in *; do mv $i `echo $i | tr [:lower:] [:upper:]`; done I can get all file and the file extensions to upper case. But the extension should remain in lowercase, so my approach does not work. Any programming language is welcome.

• Actionscript/Flex - Is it possible to dynamically extend an object, modify functions, add functions

  I know this question might be frowned upon, but actionscript is a dynamic language similar to javascript and in javascript I can take an object from a library written by someone else and dynamically (at runtime) add/remove/modify functions, properties, prototypes etc. this is kind of like dynamically extending an object to make it work with the library it came with as well as another library. Is something like this possible in flex actionscript? I'm thinking it is only possible with classes that are declared 'dynamic' and definitely not possible with classes declared 'final'. What are your thoughts? Any ideas/tricks?

• System.Reflection - Global methods aren't available for reflection

  I have an issue with a semantic gap between the CLR and System.Reflection. System.Reflection does not (AFAIK) support reflecting on global methods in an assembly. At the assembly level, I must start with the root types. My compiler can produce assemblies with global methods, and my standard bootstrap lib is a dll that includes some global methods. My compiler uses System.Reflection to import assembly metadata at compile time. It seems if I depend on System.Reflection, global methods are not a possibility. The cleanest solution is to convert all of my standard methods to class static methods, but the point is, my language allows global methods, and the CLR supports it, but System.Reflection leaves a gap. ildasm shows the global methods just fine, but I assume it does not use System.Reflection itself and goes right to the metadata and bytecode. Besides System.Reflection, is anyone aware of any other 3rd party reflection or disassembly libs that I could make use of (assuming I will eventually release my compiler as free, BSD licensed open source).

  I start with describing the problem itself. Rather than a problem I'm looking for a better solution. I have a asp.net page which has a bunch of images and a link underneath it, Each image is infact the latest rendering of the link underneath it. I scheduled a bat script which runs every hour to fetch the images through IECapt a web page rendering capture utility. One thing am annoyed about this utility is it takes a lot of time for the 20 images I have and for few because of the flash content it misses to take the actual screenshot of the website. Now I like to know can this rendering be done by traditional programming am not interested in using any utilities. I'm interested in trying this. The solution need not be necessarily a C# based am ready to try in any other language. Because it gives me a chance to learn. Thank you.

• Making the domain-model of tic tac toe

  I am trying to make the domain model of a Tic Tac Toe game. I'll try then to go on through the various steps of the Unified Process and later implement it in some language (C# or Java). I'd like to have some feedback if I'm going on the right path: I've defined the game with two actors, Player O and Player X. I'm not sure about defining both a Tile and a Tile State. Maybe I should only define a Tile and have the 3 possible states specialize from it? I'm not sure what is best: to have both Player O and Player X be associations with Tic Tac Toe or have them inherit from Player that is associated with Tic Tac Toe. Following the design shown on the pic, in theory we could have a Tic Tac Toe concept with 2 Player O's, which wouldn't be correct. What is your opinion on this? Also, am I missing something in the diagram? Although I can't see any other actors for Tic Tac Toe, should I have any other? Thanks

I created a hello world application, and the system generated most of the Android language below. When running the app without the system.out statement, there is no “hello” in the emulator. Then, using the Eclipse tutorial, I read that I can add the system.out.println statement to main. Again the app runs, but there is no output. • Does anybody actually use FaultReasonText to localize faults from WCF services?

  There is a localization mechanism in WCF that enables one to localize faults returned to client, via a FaultReasonText object that's a part of the fault. The way this is done is that you pass all possible translations of the fault's message inside a collection in the FaultReasonText. This, I understand, is based on SOAP v1.2. Does anyone actually use this mechanism? Isn't this wasteful in terms of bandwidth? Why would you send all possible translations to a client that is (probably) only interested in a specific language?
