  • Homebrew build with different arch?

    I tried to install mysql-connector-c recipe via homebrew, and it builds just fine, but produces x86_64 library: $file ~/brew/lib/libmysql.dylib .../brew/lib/libmysql.dylib: Mach-O 64-bit dynamically linked shared library x86_64 I however need i386 library for my project. I tried to give it CFLAGS and LDFLAGS like this: CFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64" LDFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64" brew install mysql-connector-c but nothing changes - it still builds x86_64 only binary. Is there any way to make homebrew build either dual arch library or i386 library? I have kernel architecture set to x86_64, if it matters.

I'm having this error message while running ./configure: checking for gsl-config... no checking for GSL - version >= 1.0... no *** The gsl-config script installed by GSL could not be found *** If GSL was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in *** your path, or set the GSL_CONFIG environment variable to the *** full path to gsl-config. configure: error: could not find required gsl library I checked and I have the GSL already installed: :~/Programas/ape-2.2.0$ dpkg -l | grep gsl ii libgsl0ldbl 1.16+dfsg-1ubuntu1 i386 GNU Scientific Library (GSL) -- library package So I have the library but the program installation isn't finding it.   • Does a code inherit GNU GPL if it just link to GPL librrary?

    Sorry for bad English. Suppose there is a library xxx under GNU GPL, that provide a function yyy. Suppose my code links to the library and use this function. Does my code inherit GPL license? IANAL, but my thoughts are conflicting: On other hand, my code is derivative from the library, so it should inherit GPL. On other hand, my code just use link to the xxx. Maybe there are other libraries, that has the same interface (particularly, they provide yyy function with same functionality, but different implementation). My code may link to any. My code really doesn't directly derived from xxx, it just use its interface. So, my code shouldn't inherit GPL. I'm confused. ADDED. The question is absolutely abstract. I don't mean any concrete GPL library.

  • How to convince management of making our project open source?

    Xamarin 3 was released last week with a great new addition: Xamarin.Forms . This triggered our attention because we've been using such a system for a couple of years now. We've developed it by ourselves and used it for a bunch of projects. We've been looking for a way to make this project open source but we didn't manage to convince the management. They believe we should not make it open source because we won't win anything with it and all that will happen is that the competition will be able to build apps quicker with our library. We believe open sourcing our library will make the world a better place and that it will make our library much more stable and complete. So my question to all you people out there: How can we convince the management to open source our library?

  • How should my local git workflow work?

    At home, I have a server that is running some software (on a LAMP stack, but only accessible internally). I have another machine and a laptop that I both use for developing said software. What is the best workflow for me? Should I have a repository on my local server, create a live branch, staging branch and development branch, then checkout the development branch from my laptop/development PC to work on, commit that back when I'm done, then merge the development branch with the staging branch for testing, before further merging to the live branch? Would I simply checkout the production branch to my /www/var/ on my server? Or am I thinking/going about this all wrong? Thanks.

    There is the GPL license and the linking exception which allows closed-source programs to use the program as a library. There is also the slightly more restrictive LGPL (more restrictive than GPL with exception since it requires that the user can change the library in the resulting project, etc.). And there is the Cygwin exception that allows linking to open source programs. I see clear advantages: Open-Source programs may use the library. People may use these programs for closed-source programs, but then they lose the permission to use the (GPL) library. However, there are two things I don't like about the Cygwin exception: - Its legal status is disputed - I keep hearing that it is basically worthless - It requires certification by the OSI, I would rather have certification by FSF Is there an exception to the GNU General Public License that meets my requirements?

    I'm having difficulty getting OpenId authentication working with Authlogic. It appears that the problem arose with changes to the open_id_authentication plugin. From what I've read so far, one needs to switch from using gems to using plugins. Here's what I done thus far to get Authlogic-OpenID integration working: Removed relevant gems: authlogic authlogic-oid rack-openid ruby-openid * Installed, configured, and started the authlogic sample application (http://github.com/binarylogic/authlogic_example)--works as expected.     hello I had a working application, which uses a jquery ui dialog. I wanted to make the dialog draggable. As far as I know the only thing needed is the jquery.ui.draggable.js script.   • Using SharePoint label to display document version in Word 2007 doesn't work when moved to another l

    I am surfacing the Document Library version of a Word 2007 document by creating a Label ({version}) within the content type of the Document Library and adding it as a Quick-part Label in the Word 2007 document. This works great. The latest version always shows up when I open the Word document. I also added this Version quick-part field to the footer of the Word document and then added this document as a document template to my content type, "ContentTypeMain". Now, I can go to my Document Library and I can create a New instance of "ContentTypeMain" with the Version field automatically there. This works great as well. However, if I create another Document Library and add the same Content Type, "ContentTypeMain" to it, the value of the Version quick-part doesn't update or refresh. The only way is to add another copy of the Label quick-part. It seems like the Quick-Part Label that maps to the Document Library Version is unique to the Document Library. My application dynamically creates subsites using site definitions and list templates. Thus the document library in each of the subsites are all being created from the same List Template. I inspected the XML files under the hood of the Word Document and it does look like there is a GUID attached to the Quick-Part Version field.
