• Can I redirect the HTTP request towards an old folder to the homepage using .htaccess file?

  I have to following situation: I had an old blog that was made using Joomla (this blog was indexed well enough by search engines). For some problems I delete it and I have create it again using WordPress. Now I have many visit (from Google) that leading to specific pages of the old site (pages that don't exist in the new version). For example I have visit to URL as: /scorejava/index.php/corso-spring-mvc/1-test that don't exist on my new site. I would know if using the .htaccess file (or other sistem) I can redirect the HTTP request directed to some subfolder (that don't exist in the new version) to the homepage of my new site. For example I have the request towards the void URL: /scorejava/index.php/corso-spring-mvc/1-test. And I would create a regular expression that say something like: all the request toward the subfolder corso-spring-mvc (and all it's content file and subfolder) have to be redirected to www.scorejava.com. Is it possible?

• Which libraries use the "We Know Where You Live" optimization for std::make_shared?

  Over two years ago, Stephan T. Lavavej described a space-saving optimization he implemented in Microsoft's implementation of std::make_shared, and I know from speaking with him that Microsoft has nothing against other library implementations adopting this optimization. If you know for sure whether other libraries (e.g., for Gnu C++, Clang, Intel C++, plus Boost (for boost::make_shared)) have adopted this implementation, please contribute an answer. I don't have ready access to that many make_shared implementations, nor am I wild about digging into the bowels of the ones I have to see if they've implemented the WKWYL optimization, but I'm hoping that SO readers know the answers for some libraries off-hand. I know from looking at the code that as of Boost 1.52, the WKWYL optimization had not been implemented, but Boost is now up to version 1.55. Note that this optimization is different from std::make_shared's ability to avoid a dedicated heap allocation for the reference count used by std::shared_ptr. • Mousin' down the PathListBox

  While modifying the standard media player with a new look and feel for Ineta Live I saw a unique opportunity to use their logo with a dotted I with and attached arc as the scrub control. So I created a PathListBox that I wanted an object to follow when a user did a click and drag action.  Below is how I solved the problem.  Please let me know if you have improvements or know of a completely different way.  I am always eager to learn. First, I created a path using the pen tool in Expression Blend (see the yellow line in image below).  Then I right clicked that path and chose [Path] --> [Make Layout Path].   That created a new PathListBox.  Then I chose the object I want to move down the new PathListBox and Placed it as a child in the Objects and Timeline window (see image below).  If the child object (the thing the user will click and drag) is XAML, it will move much smoother than images. Just as another side note, I wanted there to be no highlight when the user selects the “ball” to drag and drop.  This is done by editing the ItemContainerStyle under Additional Templates on the PathListBox.  Post a question if you need help on this and I will expand my explanation. Here is a pic of the object and the path I wanted it to follow.  I gave the path a yellow solid brush here so you could see it but when I lay this over another object, I will make the path transparent.   To animate this object down the path, the trick is to animate the Start number for the LayoutPath.  Not the StartItemIndex, the Start above Span. • Funnel Visualisation not showing drop out in steps

  I have a site where users will follow this path (hopefully): mysite.com/entity mysite.com/entity/pay mysite.com/entity/pay/details mysite.com/entity/pay/confirmation mysite.com/entity/pay/payment mysite.com/entity/paymentsuccessful?lotsofuniquestuff The entity section could be any one of a multitude of entries, but once the user is on a journey it will stay consistent. I have a goal set up for this as a regular expression, with the match being .*PaymentSuccessful.*. This detects goal successes perfectly (as checked with data stored by the site directly). I have set the following steps within the goal: /[a-zA-Z0-9]+/pay /[a-zA-Z0-9]+/pay/details /[a-zA-Z0-9]+/pay/confirmation /[a-zA-Z0-9]+/pay/payment My funnel detects entry into the funnel (e.g. 47 users) of which say 10 complete the funnel. However, all drop offs are after the first step, even though the exist page is listed as the second step! My data also suggests users are getting further in the funnel before failing to reach the goal. What have I done wrong?

  I'm interested in functional programming and decided to get head to head with Haskell. My head hurts... but I'll eventually get it... I have one curiosity though, why is the syntax so cryptic (in lack of another word)? Is there a reason why it isn't more expressive, more close to human language? I understand that FP is good at modelling mathematical concepts and it borrowed some of it's concise means of expression, but still it's not math... it's a language.

• How to modify the Title Bar text for SQL Server Management Studio?

  Sometimes I keep multiple instances of SQL Server Management Studio 2005 open. I might have the dev database open in one, and the production database open in another. These appear in the Windows task bar with the text "Microsoft SQL Serve...", which means it's impossible to differentiate between them unless I open the window and scroll the Object Explorer up to see what server the window is actually connected to. Is ther any way that I can get the window to display the server name first, and then the name of the application? Like "Dev-DB.database_name - Microsoft SQL Serve..." or whatever?

• How to Get SharePoint PowerShell to use .NET 2

  I'm having a couple of problems with PowerShell. First, the PS configuration installed by SharePoint 2010 keeps popping this message: The local farm is not accessible. Cmdlets with FeatureDependencyId are not registered. I've googled that, and given everybody and their second cousin Sharepoint_Shell_Access to the config DB, with no luck. So, I wanted to try some of the PS commands. In this case, however, I'm getting a different error: Microsoft SharePoint is not supported with version 4.0.30319.17929 of the Microsoft .Net Runtime. I get that SP can't use .NET 4.0 or 4.5, but I can't find any suggestions on how to get PS to use the "right" version of .NET. I've found some references for something called PowerGUI, and changing the psgui.exe.config, but I don't have that. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to solve the .NET version problem? Thanks.

  I've posted a code sample below. Firstly let me explain termStore.Groups in the code below is a collection of Group Objects (The exact class is irrelevant). Checking for null : if (termStore.Groups[groupName] == null) seems like a logical (clean) approach, but if the Groups collection is empty then an exception is produced. using the termStore.Groups.Contains is not an option either because this expects a strong type i.e: .Contains(Group)... not .Contains(GroupName as string) Can someone recommend a clean / generic way I can check for if an item exists in collection .   Hi, Im doing a POC using Aspectj. class BaseInfo{..} class UserInfo extends BaseInfo{..} class UserService { public void getUser(UserInfo userInfo){..} public void deleteUser(String userId){..} } I've defined an advice, that gets invoked when I pass an UserInfo instance.But when i try to pass the BaseInfo, the advice is not getting invoked. Below block executes the afterMethod as expected for getUser. &ltaop:pointcut id="aopafterMethod" expression="execution(* UserService.*(..,UserInfo,..))" / &gtaop:after pointcut-ref="aopafterMethod" method="afterMethod" / But when i try to give BaseInfo instead of UserInfo, the aspect is not getting triggered. • C# Get video file duration from metadata

  I am trying to read metadata from a file. I only need the Video - Length property, however I am unable to find a simple way of reading this information. I figured this would be fairly easy since it is visible by default in Explorer, however this looks to be way more complicated than I anticipated. The closest I came was using: Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback.Video video = new Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback.Video(str); double duration = video.Duration; However this throws a LoaderLock exception, and I don't know how to deal with it. Any ideas?

• Windows Embedded Compact 7 in Padua

  Yesterday I did a presentation about Windows CE at the University of Padua Even if the picture seems to suggest that I just showed and empty slide, I illustrated the new features of the OS and did a quick demo of Silverlight for Windows Embedded on Windows Embedded Compact 7 (I’ve to get used to this new name), showing the new tools that provide a better integration between Expression Blend and Visual Studio for the development of Silverlight applications (I hope to be able to write more on this topic soon!). The Operating System was running on some real hardware (TI OMAP3530 evaluation board) and many people had a chance to interact with the new customizable shell. Most of the 60 people attending were still awake at the end of the one hour and a half session, and some of them even asked questions! I would like to thank all the people attending and all the people of Arrow, Fortech Embedded Labs and the University of Padua that made this event possible and provide me the tool and the time to do this presentation. • Why do Java and C# not have implicit conversions to boolean?

  Since I started Java it's been very aggravating for me that it doesn't support implicit conversions from numeric types to booleans, so you can't do things like: if (flags & 0x80) { ... } instead you have to go through this lunacy: if ((flags & 0x80) != 0) { ... } It's the same with null and objects. Every other C-like language I know including JavaScript allows it, so I thought Java was just moronic, but I've just discovered that C# is the same (at least for numbers, don't know about null/objects): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/c8f5xwh7(VS.71).aspx Microsoft changed it on purpose from C++, so why? Clearly I'm missing something. Why change (what I thought was) the most natural thing in the world to make it longer to type? What on Earth is wrong with it?

This is the SQL command I used to create the table (Using SQL Server Management Studio): CREATE TABLE Target( ID int NOT NULL IDENTITY (1, 1) PRIMARY KEY ); Microsoft help site (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174633%28SQL.90%29.aspx) mentions that DEFAULT values are not valid for identity columns however they do not mention any alternative. They mention something about uniqueidentifier and ROWGUID but I have not been able to make it work. I would appreciate any pointers on how to solve this problem or links to documentation about valid sql commands for sql server CE. Thank you

• Different versions in manifest on different machines

  Hi guys, Have two machines, both with VS2005 SP1 installed and with the WinSXS showing the same things installed. When one machine builds a particular C++ .dll .vcproj it ends up with <assemblyIdentity type='win32' name='Microsoft.VC80.MFC' version='8.0.50727.762' processorArchitecture='x86' publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b' /> in its manifest file. But on the other machine it ends up with <assemblyIdentity type='win32' name='Microsoft.VC80.MFC' version='8.0.50608.0 processorArchitecture='x86' publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b' /> even though this machine does not have '8.0.50608.0' libraries listed in its WinSXS. The .dll built on this machine with the older version referenced has some problems. I have ensured both machines have the same latest source code and references etc.. What could be causing it to build with the different reference? Thanks! Terry

• Why so many individual System.Web.* DLLs?

  I've been thinking about ways to refactor a fairly expansive class/utility library I have, and one thing I think I want to do is split off any higher-level helper utilities that introduce new dependencies. I read some previous questions here, and one that I particularly noticed was a comment about how Microsoft freely uses namespaces across DLLs. The example given was System.Web - it's in the base framework, but there's also a System.Web.dll that adds more functionality to the namespace if you want it. I also noticed several other System.Web.* DLLs available, and I was wondering if there's a reason why they wouldn't be combined into a single DLL. Could it be that they have their own individual dependencies and Microsoft (like me) wanted to separate assemblies along those lines? Or is it for easier maintenance? Something else entirely?

  Hello, I can't seem to find the "Build" option under "Configuration Properties" folder in the Property Pages of my project. I've been looking everywhere trying to figure out how to do it. I followed the direations here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc302121.aspx More specifically here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azt1z1eh.aspx ("To build the XML Documentation sample within Visual Studio" section) I want to generate XML comments for my project in the build, but my "Configuration Properties" window does not have "folders" or a "Build" option under it. I'm using Visual Studio Team System 2008, any ideas? EDIT - This is a website [project-less] and it is written in both C# and VB.NET. Do I need to download any tools? I found GhostDoc but that's not helping me very much.

• How do I download an attachment from an annotation using client-side JScript?

  I'm trying to provide a link to the attachment of a note through the client-side JScript. The standard MS-made Notes component does this through the following url: [serverurl]/[appname]/Activities/Attachment/download.aspx?AttachmentType=5&AttachmentId={blahblahblah}&IsNotesTabAttachment=1&CRMWRPCToken=blahblahblah&CRMWRPCTokenTimeStamp=blahblahblah The problem is that I don't know how to get the Token or TokenTimeStamp, so I'm receiving an Access Denied error ("form is no longer available, security precaution, etc"). The only other way I can think of doing this is through the OData endpoint, but that would at best get me a base64 string that I still would have translate into a filestream to give to the browser (all of which seems like it would take forever to implement/figure out). • Detecting the Loopback Adapter

  What is the best way for detecting whether a network interface is a loopback adapter? The windows API's GetAdaptersInfo and GetAdaptersAddresses state in the documentation that they will return whether an interface is a loopback through the Type (MIB_IF_TYPE_LOOPBACK) but neither of these do for the Microsoft Loopback Adapter at least, it is reported as a standard ethernet interface. I could try checking for the default MAC of the Loopback adapter but this can be easily spoofed. I could check for the name "Microsoft Loopback Adapter" in the description but this may have translation issues and may lead to other issues. IP addresses can also be changed. What is the most robust method for doing this?
