• Confusion about Kerberos, delegation and SPNs.

  I already posted this question on SO, but the nature of it is between programming and server configuration, so I'll re-post it here as well. I'm trying to write a proof-of-concept application that performs Kerberos delegation. I've written all the code, and it seems to working (I'm authenticating fine), but the resulting security context doesn't have the ISC_REQ_DELEGATE flag set. So I'm thinking that maybe one of the endpoints (client or server) is forbidden to delegate. However I'm not authenticating against an SPN. Just one domain user against another domain user. As the SPN for InitializeSecurityContext() I'm passing "[email protected]" (which is the user account under which the server application is running). As I understand, domain users have delegation enabled by default. Anyway, I asked the admin to check, and the "account is sensitive and cannot be delegated" checkbox is off. I know that if my server was running as a NETWORK SERVICE and I used an SPN to connect to it, then I'd need the computer account in AD to have the "Trust computer for delegation" checkbox checked (off by default), but... this is not the case, right? Or is it? Also - when the checkbox in the computer account is set, do the changes take place immediately, or must I reboot the server PC or wait for a while?

• Creating Drill-Down Detail UITableView from JSON NSDictionary

  I'm have a load of trouble finding out how to do this, I want to show this in a UITableDetailView (Drill-Down style) with each item in a different cell. All of the things I've read all show how to load a single image on the detail instead of showing as a UITableView. Does the dictionary have to have "children" in order to load correctly? Here is the code for the first view creating *dict from the JSON rowsArray. I guess what I'm looking for is what to put in the FollowingDetailViewController.m to see the rest of *dict contents, so when selecting a row, it loads the rest of the *dict. I have rowsArray coming back as follows: '{ loginName = Johnson; memberid = 39; name = Kris; age = ;}, etc,etc... • WCF Manual SOAP POST using HttpWebRequest over https with Usertoken

  Hi, I'm writing a client that calls a number of WCF webservices (written externallyt to my company) that are very similar in structure. The design I was hoping to use is to manually build the SOAP message from XML chunks that are stored in a database and then processed through a generic web service handler class. I have access to the WSDL's for each webservice and example working XML. The design approach is such that we can easily add to the message dynamically, hence the reason for not using the auto generated proxy classes I am basically at the last part now with the entire SOAP message constructed but am getting a SOAP fault security error returned. I have used fiddler to compare the message I'm sending with one that is sent using the normal (far simpler...) WCF generated proxy classes and can't see any difference apart from the id attribute of the Usertoken element in the SOAP header. This is where my lack of experience in this area isn't helping. I think this is because the id is generated automatically (presumably because we're using https). My question is how do I generate this programatically? I have searched for hours online but the majority of solutions are either using the proxy classes or not over https. I have briefly looked at WCE but aware this is replaced by WCF now so don't want to waste time looking into this if it's not the solution. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I can post some code examples when I'm back in work if it will help but the method I'm using is very straightforward and only using XElements and such like at the moment (as we're using linq to sql). thanks, Andy

The ones using "curl" are easy, but i also have a Nutch crawl that uses the "solrindex" command to push data into Solr.   I have a WindowsXP configured as a build machine. The build process runs under an account which isn't an administrator. Some projects register as a last step an ocx control with something like regsvr32 /s /c ".\debug\myocx.ocx" This step fails and I assume that this has something to do with rights because doing the same under an admin account works fine. What rights/permissions/policies do I need to give the build account and where do I do it? (Browsing Local Users and Groups and Local Security Settings haven't helped me)

• Oracle 11gR2: NLS_CHARACTERSET accidentally removed with an UPDATE-Query

  Hi folks, I have a fresh installation of Oracle 11gr2_x64 on CentOS. After the installation I wanted to get productive and started to import my dumps. One of the dumps caused characterset error so I tried to change the systems character-set to the one specified in the dump. I ran a statement like this: UPDATE nls_database_parameters SET parameter='WS....' WHERE parameter=’NLS_CHARACTERSET’; As you can see: I have written the value of the character-set in the parameter column instead of the value column. I guess I was just too much thinking about the problem instead of checking what I am typing there. After the query the parameter "NLS_CHARACTERSET" is gone and the server reports that the characterset is "(null)". I want to put the "NLS_CHARACTERSET" paramater back in the table but don't know how. If I try to do something like this INSERT INTO nls_database_parameters (PARAMETERS, VALUE) VALUES ("NLS_CHARACTERSET", "AL32UTF8"); I get the error: Fehler bei Befehlszeile:1 Spalte:84 Fehlerbericht: *Cause: SQL-Fehler: ORA-00984: Spalte hier nicht zulässig *Action: 00984. 00000 - "column not allowed here" Sorry that the error message is in German but it contains the Oracle error code. • Amazon Web services - retrieving a wishlist

  I've been tinkering with Yahoo Pipes and the Amazon E-Commerce Service (ECS) SDK to retrieve my wishlist. The problem is that although I can get all the items on my wishlist just fine, it seems to include items that I've deleted too. Has anyone else used this API and noticed this? Is there a way around it? UPDATE: Requested additional information in comments... • Setting up SQL Server 2005 to use all available memory in 32bit Windows Server 2003 - and verifying

  There are a number of questions along this line - but they either sometimes contradict each other, or don't show how to properly verify that everything is actually working - hopefully this can be comprehensive... I'm running SQL Server 2005 SP3 Standard on Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard. My server has 8GB of memory installed - my system is almost entirely used as a Database Server - there are some services running on them, but the OS + services can run within 1Gb of RAM. What I've done (please tell me if I'm doing something wrong): /3GB in the boot.ini. (To increase the amount of user-space memory available - info) /PAE in the boot.ini. (Windows claimed to be doing PAE even without this switch, somethow.) Enabled AWE in SQL Server. Enabled Lock Pages in Memory Option for users SYSTEM and Local Service. (info). SQL Server Standard doesn't seem to use this until Cumulative Update 4, which isn't installed on my server. (info) Set Min/Max Memory to : 1024Mb/5112Mb After doing all the above, we definately saw a level of improvement - but I'd like now to verify my settings, make sure that I'm making full use of the memory available. (There appeared to be a slowdown when max = 7Gb, so I edged off from that value, but it might have been just perceptual.) To verify, I checked the following levels in PerfMon : Process(sqlserv):Working Set : 76386304 SQL Server(Memory Manager) : Total Server Memory : 3538944 (I saw a doc that noted that this wasn't the full memory used by SQL Server, so I'm not sure whether to trust it) So -- my questions... Should my max be around 7Gb? If not, what should it be? Why is total server memory at 3.5G, when it's been allocated 5G? What is the proper metric for the amount of memory allocated to SQL Server? The Working Set seems a bit large... Am I possibly missing any steps in the setup? Any recommended resources on starting to tune the caching system now? Thanks

  I am running an ecommerce theme on wordpress on a hostgator server, and coming up with this error. Security warning: set the value *register_globals* in the php ini to Off !! This theme will not work correctly otherwise. I can't find the php.ini in any of the folders. I tried creating a file with the added command and putting it in root as suggested via google, with no luck. Any recommendations?otherwise.

• Asp.Net MVC Data Annotations. How to get client side validation on 2 properties being equal

  How do you get client side validation on two properties such as the classic password confirm password scenario. I'm using a metadata class based on EF mapping to my DB table, heres the code. The commented out attributes on my class will get me server side validation but not client side.   I am using apache CXF for the first time. I am trying to establish a connection based on the CXF simple front end (Configuration notes) technology. I can't really see what I've done wrong, but I am getting a weird error (see below). I have also posted this question to [email protected], but I haven't received a response yet.   Hello, We want to set up a directory of all the organizations working with us. They are incredibly diverse (government, embassy, private companies, and organizations depending on them ). So, I've resolved to create 2 tables. Table 1 will treat all the organizations equally, i.e. it'll collect all the basic information (name, address, phone number, etc.). Table 2 will establish the hierarchy among all the organizations. For instance, Program for illiterate adults depends on the National Institute for Social Security which depends on the Labor Ministry. In the Hierarchy table, each column represents a level. So, for the example above, (i)Labor Ministry - Level1(column1), (ii)National Institute for Social Security - Level2(column2), (iii)Program for illiterate adults - Level3(column3). To attach an organization to an hierarchy, the user needs to go level by level(i.e. column by column). So, there will be at least 3 situations: If an adequate hierarchy exists for an organization(for instance, level1: US Embassy), that organization can be added (For instance, level2: USAID).-- US Embassy/USAID, and so on. How about if one or more levels are missing? - then they need to be added How about if the hierarchy need to be modified? -- not every thing need to be modified. I do not have any choice but working by level (i.e. column by column). I does not make sense to have all the levels in one form as the user need to navigate hierarchies to find the right one to attach an organization. Let's say, I have those queries in my repository (just that you get the idea). Query1 var orgHierarchy = (from orgH in db.Hierarchy select orgH.Level1).FirstOrDefault; Query2 var orgHierarchy = (from orgH in db.Hierarchy select orgH.Level2).FirstOrDefault; Query3, Query4, etc. The above queries are the same except for the property queried (level1, level2, level3, etc.) Question: Is there a general way of writing the above queries in one? So that the user can track an hierarchy level by level to attach an organization. In other words, not knowing in advance which column to query, I still need to be able to do so depending on some conditions. For instance, an organization X depends on Y. • Mapping printers using Group Policy Preferences; works on Windows XP, not on Windows 7 x64

  I'm trying to use Group Policy Preferences to manage user connections to shared printers. The print server is Windows Server 2003 R2 Std edition. Several printers are installed, and I've added x64 editions of all the drivers to the print server as well. I've created a new GPO containing the printer preference settings. Printer mappings are targeted based on AD security group membership. I log on to a Windows XP PC with the Group Policy CSEs installed and the printer maps perfectly. I log on to a Windows 7 x64 PC and it doesn't map. If I manually connect to the shared printer, I get a prompt which asks me to confirm if I trust the server before installing the driver, and then it works perfectly. I have domain admin rights and my UAC settings have not been changed from the default, i.e. UAC is enabled and the default level is selected. Is the printer mapping failing because it's unable to prompt me to install the driver, or is there something else afoot?
