  • I love programming but i also want to learn hardware. [closed]

    I like programming so much, i did it since i was 10, and i believe that studying computer science will make a lot of money as well as i love it. However I also want to learn hardware. I don't only want to do programming all the time without knowing the architecture of device that i program. I asked my teacher, and she said that if I get into computer science, i won't learn anything about hardware, is it true?(She graduated from u-dub) In the other hand, my math teacher told me to get into electrical engineering, since it also contain programming. The thing is that i want to emphasize my study to programming while learning some about hardware. What is major that suits me the best? Can i take some hardware courses if I get into computer science major? Thanks a lot.

  • how does a research topic fit into a program?

    My project is supposed to be about creating a program to help put a math test online. The program should generate questions that vary on each run of the test, and it should grade the test after someone takes it. (I found out recently that there's a system that can do some of the tasks already, but I don't think many people know how to use it) What type of research could be involved? I need to find a research article that relates to my project, and I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what type of subject to look for.

  • Django's local web server works, but not apaches

    I've made no changes to the django project after running django-admin.py startproject Twingle When I run the local web server using python manage.py runserver, I can view the splash page telling me everything is working fine. But when I try to visit that project through apache, it fails. You can see the error at http://djaffry.selfip.com:8080/ The exception: Exception Value: No module named Twingle.urls (the project is Twingle)

  • Error when deploying site of a maven multi module project with FTP

    I have a multi module project. When I launch mvn site:deploy, the deployment of the base module works fine, but it fails to create the directory of the module sites on the FTP server: [INFO] Error uploading site Embedded error: Required directory: '/myremoteftprepository/myproject-mymodule' is missing When I create the missing directory by hand, it works fine, but I would like to avoid that. It is surprising that the deploy command do not create it. Do you how to force this directory creation? Is it a bug in the wagon-ftp plugin?   • haar transformation on an image

    hello, i need some help with haar transformation, i have to apply it on an image. My math is bad, my english not all that awesome and i find it hard to understand from articles on the internet. I found this page http://www.cs.ucf.edu/~mali/haar/haar.cpp where the haar transformation is applied on 2d matrix. I suppose if i give image pixels matrix in there, it should work? im confused about this stuff, could someone enlighten me a bit please? Thank you!

    Hi!, I have setup svnserve server (1.6.5,plain, without apache) on Fedora. I start the svnserve with the command 'svnserve -d --foreground --listen-port=3690 -r /usr/local/svn-repos/proj-test' When user trying to checkout working copy from the local machine with command 'svn checkout svn://127.0.0.1/proj-test' gets following error svn: URL 'svn://127.0.0.1/proj-test' doesn't exists but, 'svn checkout svn://localhost/proj-test' works. I am curious to know why using 127.0.0.1 with svn:// fails? Thanks. Banani

    I only would like to keep the Access Logs of the last n days created by Tomcat Access Log Valve. http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/config/valve.html#Access%20Log%20Valve But there seems to be no configuration-Attribute to define how long to keep the log-files? I guess this is because "Access Log Valve" only creates log files and doesn't delete them, is that correct?

  • Application Servers(java) : Should adding RAM to server depend on each domain's -Xmx value?

    We have Glassfish application server running in Linux servers. Each Glassfish installation hosts 3 domains. Each domain has a JVM configuration such as -Xms 1GB and -XmX 2GB. That means if all these three domains are running at max memory, server should be able to allocate total 6GB to the JVMs With that math,each of our server has 8GB RAM (2 GB Buffer) First of all - is this a good approach? I did not think so, because when we analyzed memory utilization on this server over past few months, it was only up to 1GB; Now there are requests to add an additional domain to these servers - does that mean to add additional 2 GB RAM just to be safe or based on trend, continue with whatever memory the server has?

  • change shell directory from a script?

    i want to make a script (to) that makes it easier for me to enter folders. so eg. if i type "to apache" i want it to change the current directory to /etc/apache2. however, when i use the "cd" command inside the script, it seems like it changes the path WITHIN the script, so the path in the shell has not changed. how could i make this work?

So I googled it looking for some example code In just about all the results I see, they use double as the return for such a function, even when explicitly using floor to convert it to an integer. Unix timestamps are always integers.   • What's the silliest programming mistake you've ever done? [closed]

    Despite not being a professional programmer, i use python or c to accomplish simple tasks. Once I needed a nasty equation to use with various data for physics lab. I thought that it would take a few hours if i used some mechanic calculator. Then i've written a python script to make things easier but something was wrong. After finding my mistakes one of which was forgetting to put ":", i realized that it had already took 2-3 hours, not to mention inventing satanic arithmetic techniques since i thought the errors was caused by my math :) Sometimes when you don't see it, you don't see it! Now i can find the syntax errors without thinking for a moment :) Any similar annoying mistakes that you've experienced?

  • How to create diagrams for papers.

    I want to create some diagrams for some papers. Diagrams will contain some text, e.g. some console output. I need images for using also in html files. There is TikZ so can create images like this: http://www.texample.net/tikz/examples/boxes-with-text-and-math/ http://www.texample.net/tikz/examples/rule-based-diagram/ http://www.texample.net/tikz/examples/scenario-tree/ but as a result I get some ps/pdf files, not images. What's more I want to generate the pictures from text files as I want to track changes in some VCS, any binary files are not suitable for that.

    I'm trying to make a function in OCaml which does the summation function in math. I tried this: sum n m f = if n = 0 then 0 else if n > m then f else f + sum (n + 1) m f;; However, I get an error - "Characters 41-44: else f * sum(n + 1) m f;; Error: Unbound value sum and sum is underlined (has carrot signs pointing to it) I looked at this: Simple OCaml exercise It's the same question, but I see a lot of other things that I do not have. For example, for my n = m case, I do not have f n and then in the else case, I do not have f m. Why do you need f n if you want the function to return an integer? D: What's the problem!?
