    I'm trying to recover GRUB after installing Windows 7. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 first, then installed Windows 7 so I lost the GRUB at startup. Made a USB stick with Ubuntu to boot from, I get the menu tell it to start and it takes off but then gets stuck. The last line showing on the screen is: ata10: PATA max UDMA/100 cmd 0xc800 ctl 0xc480 irq 17 or this: [4.793048] scsi9 : pata_jmicron Then it just gets stuck there and the screen flashes from time to time.

    In my quest to understand closures in the context of JS, I find myself asking why do you even need to use closures? What's so great about having an inner function be able to access the parent function's variables even after the parent function returns? I'm not even sure I asked that question correctly because I don't understand how to use them.     I have a mac book pro (7200 rpm / 8GB ram) and I like the idea of virtualized development environments as I like to experiment with different technologies and don't like to have environmental cross contamination. I would like to know for the vm's I run (rarely 2 at time..almost always 1 vm at a time) should the virtual hdd be on my laptops native hdd or some external form (usb hdd, usb flash, or since i have mac express card based sad ?). I don't mind maxing out my ram to 16GB if thats a better option to have in the mix. Thank you

  • Why isn't persistence working on Lubuntu 12.04 Live-USB?

    I have used Universal-USB-Installer ever since to install different Linux versions to USB flash drive. But now with Lubuntu 12.04 even though I do the same process by selecting persistence file, it gets created but is never used in Lubuntu. Every time I boot into Lubuntu on flash, it is fresh new Lubuntu without my changes I did last time I have booted it. Anyone can help me or give me some hints ? Thanks in advance.

    I am working on a 3D racing game using SDL and OpenGL. I thought it would be easier to use a 2D physics engine, since I really don't need the 3rd dimension. There will be no flying cars or jumps, they will just be stuck to the floor, so I would use 2D colliders and that things to simulate collisions in a plane but render the actual game from a 3D perspective. So the real question is: is it possible, is it a dumb idea, what else can I do?
