  • Solaris 10 very slow ssh file transfers

    Trying to copy a few TBs betweek Solaris 10 u9 systems A single scp only seems to be able to transfer around 120MB/min, over a 1GB network. If I run multiple scp copies, each one will do 120MB/min, so it is not the network as far as I can see. Any hints on how to tweak the Solaris settings to open a bigger pipe. Have the same problem with another piece of software that unfortunately does not seem to be able to be split into separate processes.

However suse rovide options to boot windows 1 (window xp) during boot up. If i uninstall suse linux (i've tried), windows won't be able to be booted up as the grub master boot will be corrupted. my question is: is there a software tool which can be booted on cd to modify the master boot record so as to reduce much effort??

    Hi We're using HAproxy as a front end load balancer / proxy and are looking for solutions to block random IP addresses from jamming the cluster. Is anyone familiar with a conf for HAProxy that can block requests if they exceed a certain threshold from a single IP within a defined period of time.   • Safari 4 starting up slowly on a Vista machine

    I have two PCs (different specs) with the latest Windows Vista and Safari 4 updates installed. In one machine, Safari 4 works great but in the other, it starts up slowly (less than a minute though) with harddisk sound indicating data access activities. I have cleared all internet caches and I am quite sure that there is no virus in both machines. Are there any other reasons that Safari performances are so different in comparably similar software and hardware environments?

    The problem is the following: I have a camera D-Link securicam dcs-2121 (http://www.dlink.com.sg/products/?idproduct=310) it has its own web-server and works perfectly with a few connected users, but what I want is to make a lot amount of users able to connect and watch videostream, built-in server can't get trough many connections. So I need to translate stream to any external server and broadcast from it. What software or maybe service I need to use to this effect? thanks.

    Hi guys I am running subversion 1.4 on Centos 5.2 and my clients are using tortoise to do their check out, commit etc. I think I have permissions problems but I have configured the folder to accessible to everyone with 777 attribute but I seem not to be getting anywhere. Its generating this error on tortoise "svn: Can't open file 'PATH/TO/MY/FILES/entries': Permission denied". Some guy was suggesting some indexing software installed on the client machine like google desktop, any suggestions?

    I had to throw a machine together in a bit of a hurry- to replace a machine that suddenly failed (no one had bothered to keep a "warm" backup) It has Windows Server 2008 and SQL 2008 The snag is, I installed them off our MSDN subscription media, due to me not having "licensed" software. I need to put this machine into production. We are in the process of buying the licenses from a MS reseller now.     My network engineer states I am part of a cluster where two apache application servers(512G RAM each) have 142 instances each of Tomcat (of which my company represents 6 each with 2G RAM). This seems like a lot and my latency issues move with the hour of the day - 7AM CST software functions fine, 10AM CST - system slows significantly this slowness continues until 6PM CST. My question is how many Tomcat instances can one application server handle?

    So i just recently installed Ubuntu Linux 10.04 on my desktop machine alongside Windows 7, it booted just fine the first few times but after i went into my windows 7 recovery software provided by packard bell( i did this on accident BTW i exited it straight away and made no changes as far as i know) and re-booted i get this screen: error: no such partition grub rescue_ PS: i installed it on a USB stick using the ISO on the official ubuntu website.

  • Any tool available to make renaming in Windows XP more like Mac OS X?

    I've noticed 1 cool thing and OS X. When you rename a file, it automatically selects everything up until the extension. For example, attempting to rename this.is.a.file.png would preselect this.is.a.file allowing you to quickly rename it whilst preserving the extension. I know I could turn off 'show extensions for known file types', but I like to have them visible. Is there any software that can do this? Thanks

So I'm wondering if the following would be possible: to use different set of shortcuts for different applications - so one shortcut performs different actions in different places. to make some form of modes for application, where you could use some switch (vim style) and this would change things the shortcat would do if it would be possible to place some caption that indicates which mode you are using - little improvement of previous item I thank everyone for their answers.
