• Linear Layout Issue at Runtime

  Hi all, I am trying to build a layout dynamically which display some text and image for the most part, but has a series of buttons placed next to each other in the bottom. I have a linear layout that carries the text, another linear layout that carries the image. And yet another linear layout that carries the buttons that get created in a for loop. I have a main layout aligned vertical that adds the text, image and buttons layout, in that order. To finally generate something like this: Text .... Image ... Button1 Button2 Button3.... The problem is the number of buttons get decided at runtime, so if there are more than 4 buttons, the 5th button gets displayed really tiny. Also, when I tilt the phone, I get only the text and image showing, but no buttons coz the image covers the entire screen. Layoutting seems to be pretty complicated to me, any help is appreciated! • GDI fast scroll

  Hi! I use GDI to create some custom textwidget. I draw directly to the screen, unbuffered. now i'd like to implement some fast scrolling, that simply pixelshifts the respective part of the framebuffer (and only redraws the newly visible lines). I noticed that for example the rich text controls does it like this. If i use some GDI drawing functions to directly draw to the framebuffer, over a rich text control, and then scroll the rich text, it will also scroll my drawing along with the text. so i assume the rich text simply pixelshifts it's part of the framebuffer. I'd like to do the same, but don't know how to do so. Can someone help? (independant of programming language)) thanks!

• PHP calling PostgreSQL function - type issue?

  I have a function in PostgreSQL / plpgsql with the following signature: CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION user_login(TEXT, TEXT) RETURNS SETOF _get_session AS $$ ... $$ Where _get_session is a view. The function works fine when calling it from phpPgAdmin, however whan I call it from PHP I get the following error: Warning: pg_query() [function.pg-query]: Query failed: ERROR: type "session_ids" does not exist CONTEXT: compile of PL/pgSQL function "user_login" near line 2 in /home/sites/blah.com/index.php on line 69 The DECLARE section of the function contains the following variables: oldSessionId session_ids := $1; newSessionId session_ids := $2; The domain session_ids DOES exist, and other functions which use the same domain work when called from the same script. The PHP is as follows: $query = "SELECT * FROM $dbschema.user_login('$session_old'::TEXT, '$session'::TEXT)"; $result = pg_query($login, $query); I have also tried this using ::session_ids in place of ::TEXT when calling the function, however I recieve the same error. Help :o(

• Converting kernel image from ELF to PE

  I am using Msys to build a home brew kernel that I wrote under Linux. Linux used ELF for its binary format and Msys uses PE. I have the source setup to allow it to be booted by Grub using the Multiboot spec. At the end of the build, I get some undefined symbols: init.o:init.S:(.text+0x14): undefined reference to `edata' main.o:main.c:(.text+0x121): undefined reference to `_alloca' main.o:main.c:(.text+0x126): undefined reference to `__main' ../../lib\libkern.a(mem.o):mem.c:(.text+0x242): undefined reference to `_end' ../../lib\libkern.a(mem.o):mem.c:(.text+0x323): undefined reference to `_end' These appear to be ELF oriented symbols. If anyone can advise me on how these should be dealt with in the PE world, e.g. if there are equivalents, it would help me out a lot!

  I have the following code txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("This is first paragraph \n This is second paragraph"); then TextBlock would display: This is first paragraph This is second paragraph But, if I have the following (which I though is equivalent); txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("This is first paragraph"); txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("\n"); txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("This is second paragraph"); TextBlock display: This is first paragraph // but second paragraph missing If I separate out the linebreak then the rest of text after the linebreak doesn't show. Why? I have to use run: Run run1 = new Run(); run1.Text = "First Paragraph"; run1.Text += "\n"; run1.Text += "Second Paragraph"; txtBlock1.Inlines.Add(run1); Then it produce the result correctly. Why I cannot add inline text to Textblock and require me to use Run?

  **I'm currently using a jquery textselect plugin to fire alerts based on the selection text anywhere on the page and it works just fine doing something like: $(document).ready(function() { $(document).bind('textselect', function(e) { alert(e.text); }); }); I've since had to add an iframe to the page and I need the text selection to work on text within the iframe as well. • Emailing HTML from within an iPhone app is stopping at special characters

  Hi, I have an iPhone app that will let users email some pre-determined text as HTML. I'm having a problem in that if the text contains special characters within the text (e.g., ampersand &, , <), the NSString variable that I use for sending the body of the email gets truncated at the special character. I'm not sure how to fix this (I tried using the method stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding…but this hasn't fixed the problems). Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong / how to fix it? • Are there programming languages taht rely on non-latin alphabets?

  Every programming language I have ever seen has been based on the Latin alphabet, this is not surprising considering I live in Canada... But it only really makes sense that there would be programming languages based on other alphabets, or else bright computer scientists across the world would have to learn a new alphabet to go on in the field. I know for a fact that people in countries dominated by other alphabets develop languages based off the Latin alphabet (eg. Ruby from Japan), but just how common is it for programming languages to be based off of other alphabets like Arabic, or Cyrillic, or even writing systems which are not alphabetic but rather logographic in nature such as Japanese Kanji? Also are any of these languages in active widespread use, or are they mainly used as teaching tools? This is something that has bugged me since I started programming, and I have never run across someone who could think of a real answer.

  Hi Folks, I have a problem in an iPhone application. Application has a table view controller with custom table view cells. Each cell has a Label (please correct me if I need to use text view etc). I am getting text dynamically from a web service call and I don't know how long text gonna be. Now problem is that I want to adjust the table view cell height based on text I receive. How can I grow Label or TextView height withinin table view cell so it can contain all the text and in effect grow table view cell height. Does anyone know how to handle this kind of design problem?
