• Reinstall TeamCity when Tomcat becomes corrupt

  I've got a TeamCity 4 installation where tomcat has bit the dust with the following error "The APR Based Apache Tomcat Native library which allows for optimal performance in production environments was not found in java.library path". It appears this started happening once the JDK was installed on the server to allow for a compile. The JDK has been removed and the JRE reinstalled but still no go. My question is should I reinstall TeamCity completely or is there a way to simply reinstall tomcat so I don't hose the configuration? Your help is greatly appreciated.

• Why am I unable to Debug my ASP.NET website in Visual Studio?

  I used to be able to attach to my w3wp process and Debug my web application, but this is not working anymore. I have no idea what changed to break this. My breakpoints simply have the "breakpoint will currently not be hit. The source code is different from the original version." What I have tried: Did a solution Clean. Did a solution Rebuild. Deleted the bin folder Restarted Visual Studio Restarted IIS Restarted my Computer Added a simple Response.Write to ensure that the latest DLL is being used. It is. Made sure that Debug ASP.NET is checked in my project properties. It is. Made sure that all my projects are compiled in my build configuration. They are. But none of these help. I attach to w3wp, but my breakpoints never get hit. Any ideas?

• Can I resolve ASP.NET "~" app paths to the website root without a Control being present?

  I want to Resolve "~/whatever" from inside non-Page contexts such as Global.asax (HttpApplication), HttpModule, HttpHandler, etc. but can only find the Resolution methods specific to Controls (and Page). I think the app should have enough knowledge to be able to map this outside the Page context. No? Or at least it makes sense to me it should be resolvable in other circumstances, wherever the app root is known. Update: The reason being I'm sticking ~ paths in the web.configuration files. Update 2: I'm trying to resolve them to the website root such as Control.Resolve(..) URL does, not to a file system path.

• Spring: Inject static member (System.in) via constructor

  I wrote some sort of console client for a simple application. To be more flexible, I thought it would be nice to only depend on java.io.Input-/OutputStream, instead of accessing System.in/out directly. I renamed the class ConsoleClient to StreamClient, added setters and made sure that the instance fields are used instead of System.in/out. At the moment my client code looks like this: ApplicationContext appCtx = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("..."); StreamClient cc = (StreamClient) appCtx.getBean("streamClient"); cc.setInputStream(System.in); cc.setOutputStream(System.out); cc.run(); // start client Question: Is there a way to move lines 3 and 4 into the Spring configuration (preferably constructor injection)?   As discussed here, I'm trying to add a WCF endpoint-extension; I've got it working, but I need to include the full assembly details: <extensions> <behaviorExtensions> <add name="protobuf" type="ProtoBuf.ServiceModel.ProtoBehaviorExtension, protobuf-net, Version=1.0.0.275, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=257b51d87d2e4d67"/> </behaviorExtensions> </extensions> What I would like to do (to avoid issues when updating etc, especially for samples) is to include just the names: <add name="protobuf" type="ProtoBuf.ServiceModel.ProtoBehaviorExtension, protobuf-net"/> (which is what you might expect from standard assembly-naming conventions) However, if I do this, I get a big error: Parser Error Message: An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for system.serviceModel/behaviors: Extension element 'protobuf' cannot be added to this element. Verify that the extension is registered in the extension collection at system.serviceModel/extensions/behaviorExtensions. Is it possible (and if so: how) to add an extension without having to specify the assembly-version?

• How can I easily make a java application invisible to the user?

  Hello! I have developed a Java aplication that is currently being run by double-clicking on a ".bat" file that does something like "java -jar proy.jar". This application just listens on a port and writes to a database, so it does not have any user interface (such as a window). I need this application to run as in background mode, or as it where a service, but I don't really anything more than that. It's enough if the application is run in a way that is not noticeable by the user, so that the user is not bothered and so the application can not be mistakenly closed. By the way, this will be run on an specific computer so it's okay if I have to do any manual configuration ir order to make this work. Also, I need this application to run on startup.   Hi I am developing a web application which has form based authentication. All pages needs to be authenticated except AboutUs and ContactUs pages. I configured everything correct except AboutUs and ContactUs pages. Since I am denying all users in authorization section, application is redirecting even if the customer browse AboutUs and ContactUs pages. • zend framework can't find Model classes ?

  Yall: I have a simple question, it might be a simple configuration issue, but I have a Model defined, and when I try to access it from a controller it fails. The Model is in the model directory, and when I look at the quickstart app, it seems like this should work.   We are using Horizontal cluster in our PROD with WAS 6.1 as the Application server. We have enabled dynacache service for some of the JSP fragments using SHARED-PUSH in cachespec.xml file. Now we want to do cache invalidation programmatically..ie. whenever something changes in DB related to cache the cache should get invalidated. so can you please let me know what steps are involved in it to achieve this? any configuration settings at server side or any development changes.

• Can I turn off an Apache Directive then turn it on in an include?

  I have a VirtualHost block that includes common configuration items, one directive is ProxyPreserveHost. Can I "procedurally" turn off ProxyPreserveHost for a Rewrite directive then have the include turn it back on? For example: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.blah.com ... ... ProxyPreserveHost off RewriteRule /somepath http://otherhost/otherpath [P] Include /path/to/file/turning-on-ProxyPreserveHost </VirtualHost> The otherhost is on a CDN and preserving the host is creating some name resolution issue that is not allowing the proxying of content in the host namespace. ProxyReserveHost is only allowed in a Server Config or VirtualHost. It doesn't look like I can selectively turn it off for the ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse directives (encapsulated in the proxy flag of mod_rewrite).

  I have yet to find a way of setting up Python logging with Django that I'm happy with. My requirements are fairly simple: Different log handlers for different events - that is, I want to be able to log to different files Easy access to loggers in my modules. The module should be able to find its logger with little effort. Should be easily applicable to command-line modules. Parts of the system are stand-alone command line or daemon processes. Logging should be easily usable with these modules. My current setup is to use a logging.conf file and setup logging in each module I log from. It doesn't feel right. Do you have a logging setup that you like? Please detail it: how do you setup the configuration (do you use logging.conf or set it up in code), where/when do you initiate the loggers, and how do you get access to them in your modules, etc.

  Hi, recently I discovered that "executing" a C program as a release build instead of a debug build optimizes the code and makes it run much faster. This is accessed through project properties configuration manager menu. I would like to know if this feature is the same in the professional version and the express edition of MVS 2010 in terms of speed optimization. I have the express edition. Also, I would like to know if C programs run with the same speed as in both the professional and express editions. • Execute a PyQt app from an acpi event in linux

  Hi, I want to use a PyQt application to display an image when some acpi event is triggered under linux. I already setting up the configuration for the event and the python scrip is executed when the event is triggered, but when program reach the creation of the QApplication app = QApplication(sys.argv) it stops without error. I tried setting up the same DISPLAY and PATH environment variables as my current user but it doesn't work. This is my event file: event=sony/hotkey SNC 00000001 00000011 action=/etc/acpi/vaio-tools/brightness/sonybright.sh up 2>&1>/tmp/vaio-tools_brightness.log I tried to find some error in the /tmp/vaio-tools_brightness.log but it doesn't log anything after it reach the QApp creation in code. any hints??

If you need the entire applicationCOntext.xml, web.xml, and dispatcher-servlet.xml please let me know.   I have a UIWebView in UITableView, I have this on storyboard: The UIImageView is my future NavBar and the UIWebView is in the UITableView, I have this configuration: -UIImageView -UITableView -UIWebView -UITableViewCell When the UIWebView load the pages (I Have local pages) I want that it takes dynamically their size and for this I have this code: [detailWebView setFrame:CGRectMake(0.,0.,detailWebView.frame.size.width,[[detailWebView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"document.body.scrollHeight;"] intValue])]; The problem is when the loaded page is long, my UIWebBrowser hide the cells and didn't push them to get cells at the bottom. I don't understand why I have this, when I resize the UIWebBrowser in the storyboard I don't have this problem but I want to do it programmatically Thanks,

• Trying to debug a plugin in tuxguitar, need help building the project in Eclipse.

  I am not too familiar with java / eclipse but I am trying to debug a plugin in TuxGuitar. The plugin is the gtp plugin which allows reading of guitar pro files. I have imported the main project, TuxGuitar, and the TuxGuitar-gtp plugin. I have all build dependencies configured and the project builds. However, when I debug the app, the plugin is not available. The documentation says plugins are loaded from the share/plugins folder and they are jar files. I tried exporting the gtp plugin as a jar into the share/plugins folder, but it still does not load when I debug. Is there some sort of configuration I need to do in Eclipse? Thanks!

• Automatic VM deployment

  I have an idea to streamline deployments of prototypes within our team using VMs. The idea would be that a developer would be able to deploy their artifacts to Maven, then use a Web interface to pull them onto a development VM for integration/regression testing. They would then be able to to push those artifacts to a reference system, and finally onto production. I'm currently thinking of doing this myself using the vSphere Java API ( http://vijava.sourceforge.net/ ), and some simple scripting to grab artifacts from the Maven repository, configuration from SVN, and then start up a JBoss server. It feels like the kind of thing that may already be available though, has anyone heard of something similar?

• C# Assembly Xna.Framework.dll does not load

  When trying to load Microsoft.Xna.Framework.dll from any project, it throws a FileNotFoundException. The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E), with no innerException. Even the simple code like the following throws that exception: static void Main(string[] args) { Assembly.LoadFile(@"C:\Microsoft.Xna.Framework.dll"); } I run XP x64, but I've set the platform in the configuration manager to x86, because I know it shouldn't(doesn't) work on x64 or Any CPU. I've manually added the dll file to GAC, but that didn't solve the problem. I have also tried the M$ Assembly Binding Log Viewer to see if those logs had any useful information, but they didn't. Everything, the loading etc, was a success according to them. Any suggestions? please?

• How do I integrate ActiveMQ with a HornetQ ESB (or access the HornetQ directly from C#)?

  I've got an ActiveMQ ESB that I am using between several C# assemblies across a couple different systems. I need to start receiving notifications being sent out by a new system from it's HornetQ ESB. As far as I can tell the HornetQ is pre-2.0.0GA. I'd like to just use Camel to set up routing between the HornetQ ESB and my ActiveMQ ESB, but so far we haven't been able to get even that far. I'm not sure how much flexibility I've got to change the HornetQ configuration (say to add support for StompConnect or something like that). Does anyone of a viable option for getting access to the HornetQ ESB through ActiveMQ (or directly from C# if necessary)?

• Has anyone ever encountered a Monad Transformer in the wild?

  In my area of business - back office IT for a financial institution - it is very common for a software component to carry a global configuration around, to log it's progress, to have some kind of error handling / computation short circuit... Things that can be modelled nicely by Reader-, Writer-, Maybe-monads and the like in Haskell and composed together with monad transformers. But there seem to some drawbacks: The concept behind monad transformers is quite tricky and hard to understand, monad transformers lead to very complex type signatures, and they inflict some performance penalty. So I'm wondering: Are monad transformers best practice when dealing with those common tasks mentioned above?

• Default Accessor Needed: Custom ConfigurationSection

  I am totally confused by a simple Microsoft error message. When I run XSD.exe against an assembly that contains a custom ConfigurationSection (which in turn utilizes a custom ConfigurationElement and a custom ConfigurationElementCollection, as well as several ConfigurationProperties), I get the following error message: Error: There was an error processing 'Olbert.Entity.Utils.dll'. There was an error reflecting type 'Olbert.Entity.DatabaseConnection'. You must implement a default accessor on System.Configuration.ConfigurationLockCollection because it inherits from ICollection. Yet the class in question has a default accessor: public object this[int idx] { get { return null; } set { } } I realize the above doesn't do anything, but I don't need to access the element's properties by index. I'm just trying to work around the error message. So what's going on?

  I am running multiple Grails Applications on one of my servers. I am using Grails 1.2.2. I am using the default cache configuration in DataSource.groovy. When I try and run two Grails applications, they both seem to be using/writing to: /tmp/org.hibernate.cache.UpdateTimestampsCache.data When I look at how to customize Ehcache with an ehcache.xml file from this page: http://ehcache.org/documentation/grails.html I do not see any information about specifying the locations and/or names or temporary files. How do I avoid this issue when running multiple Grails applications on the same server (without turning off the cache)?

  I have been writing web applications for quite sometime in PHP with MySQL. I always stored my database connection information into a configuration variable and connected to the database that way. A client wants a java applet for their website to communicate with their database. I'm very hesitant on this because the applet is going to be public and I am not sure how I would go about storing the database connection information. I'm paranoid that someone would decompile my application or find some way to extract my database connection information and use it maliciously. Any suggestions on how to do this securely?

• Multi-platform development from one computer

  I am planning to build a new development computer for both Windows & Linux platforms. On Windows, my development would be primarily in .NET/C#/IIS/MSSQL Server. On Linux—preferably Ubuntu—my development would be in Ruby and Python. I am thinking of buying a laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed with 4GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo, and 320 GB HD; running 2 VMs for both Windows and Linux development with the host OS as my work station. Of course, I would be running DBs and web servers on the respective platforms. Is this a typical setup? My only concern is running two VMs side by side. Not sure if this configuration would be optimal. Alternative would be to do my Windows development on the host Windows 7 OS. What are your thoughts?
