• Universal iPad App rejected because of launch crash that I can't reproduce

  Hello everyone, I'm very frustrated with this problem. After one week of waiting my universal iPad app has been rejected because "is crashing on launch on iPad running iPhone OS 3.2 and iPhone 3GS running iPhone OS 3.1.3 and Mac OS X 10.6.2." Unfortunately I can't replicate the problem, I've tested in debug and release modes and the app works just fine. I even created an ad-hoc configuration and test it in other devices and everything works fine. • How can I run Devel::Cover under mod_perl2?

  Unfortunately, Devel::Cover does not yet work with threads. It doesn't work with prefork either. Being use'd in startup.pl, Devel::Cover issues Not a CODE reference. END failed--call queue aborted. perl 5.8.9, Apache 2.2.13. My OS is FreeBSD, if that matters. The same problem is reported for win32.

• Can't submit new object to WCF DataService because of Primary Key constraint

  I've got a SQL database that uses Guid's for PK's and upon insert, it generates a NewId(). I have an EF data context setup pointing to that database with the primary keys setup with the Entity key:true, Setter:private and StoreGeneratedPattern:Identity because I want the DB to manage the keys and not have code set the PK property. I have an OData (System.Web.Data.Services.DataService) endpoint to access this data (just like: Hanselman did. I have another app that has a service reference to this service. Upon trying to create a new object from this reference (i.e. Product), the ProductId Primary Key is being defaulted to Guid.Empty when doing var serviceEntities = new ServiceEntities(serviceUri); //OData endpoint var product = new Product(); product.Name = "New Product"; serviceEntities.AddToProducts(product); serviceEntities.SaveChanges(); // error happens here When debugging, I look at the Product.ProductId property and it's set to Guid.Empty. When called SaveChanges, I do not want the ProductId field to be sent to the service. The response I get is: Error processing request stream. Property 'ProductId' is a read-only property and cannot be updated. Please make sure that this property is not present in the request payload. Is there a way to do this or what can I do to get this setup correctly and still have the DB generated the keys. Here is the same setup as the Product example above.

On Netbeans, I simply did something similar to char name[fullName.size()];, while on Visual C++, I tried, among other things, const int position = fullName.size(); char Name[position]; How can I create a constant to use for the array?

  Hello -- Using Application Request Routing I have IIS 7.5 set up as a reverse proxy to a Mongrel service which is serving a rails app. IIS is set up to use Windows Auth and is working but I cannot access the REMOTE_USER variable in the rails app to get at current user's identity. I have inspected the request object in rails and I don't have any other variables like LOGON_USER, HTTP_REMOTE_USER, AUTH_USER, etc. I am trying to find a way to inject the REMOTE_USER variable into Mongrel's server variables. This post describes what I am looking for using mod_rewrite on Apache but I am having trouble recreating this rule for iis. this is the rewrite rule from the post mentioned above for Apache RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{LA-U:REMOTE_USER} (.+) RewriteRule . - [E=RU:%1] Header add X-Forwarded-User %{RU}e I tried reproducing the rule in IIS and got a URL Rewrite Module error ("The condition's expression "%{LA-U:REMOTE_USER}" is invalid."). I know I'm probably using Apache syntax where IIS syntax is needed but am not sure how to proceed at this point. Any help greatly appreciated.

  Is there an easy way to see the actual SQL generated by a rails migration? I have a situation where a migration to change a column type worked on my local development machine by partially failed on the production server. My postgreSQL versions are different between local and production (7 on production, 8 on local) so I'm hoping by looking at the SQL generated on the successful migration locally I can work out a SQL statement to run on production to fix things....

• JSF in jetty-equinox, Cannot find Bean classes in other bundles!

  Hi I have problems running JSF in an OSGi environment. I am using jetty web container and equinox to provide the OSGi functionality. The structure of my application is as follows: The first bundle has all the JSF libs, web.xml and a config.xml. It looks as the following: bundle1 ----src/main/java -------de/package ----------Activator.java ----------JSFResolver.java ----src/main/resource ------ WebContent ----------META-INF -------------face-config.xml --------------web.xhtml ----------start.xhtml -----------include.xhtml ----libs (containing all JSF required Jars) The structure of the second bundle is as follows: bundle2 ---src/main/java ------de/package ----------Bean.java ---src/main/resource ------META-INF ---------face-config.xml ------WebContent ---------index.xhtml When running the application of equinox, the bundle1 is the main bundle where all the browser requests are sent to. In the second bundle, the 'index.xhtml' file can be retrieved the by first bundle upon request. The 'index.xhtml' in bundle 2 gets its values and properties from the 'Bean.java' in bundle 2. The problem comes when i request the 'index.xhtml', the Bean.java class is not found. I think this is because the class loader of bundle1 cannot find it, it has no knowledge of it. So i would like to ask if anyone knows how to solve this problem. If so please do assist me, i have tried all the possibilities i had.. Is it infact possible to have JSF run on multiple bundles using the same FaceletsContex? Can i be able to have seperate faces-config.xml files in each bundle, which can all be connected other faces-config.xml in other bundles? Can anyone please provide me a solution. • How to avoid an HttpException due to timeout

  I'm working on a website powered by .NET asp/C# code. The clients require that sessions have a 25 minute timeout. However, sometimes the site is used, and a user stays connected for long periods of time (longer than 25 mins). Session_End is triggered: protected void Session_End(Object sender, EventArgs e) { Hashtable trackingInformaiton = (Hashtable)Application["trackingInformation"]; trackingInformaiton.Remove(Session["trackingID"]); } The user returns some time later, but when they interact with the website, they get an error, and we get this email notification: User: Unauthenticated User Error: System.Web.HttpException Description: Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request... The telling part of the stack trace is System.Web.UI.Control.AddedControl. Apparently, the server has thrown away the session data, and is sending new data, but the client is trying to deal with old data. Hence the error that "the control tree into which viewstate is being loaded [doesn't] match the control tree that was used to save the viewstate during the prevoius request." So here's the question. How can I force instruct the user's browser to redirect to a "you're logged out" screen when the connection times out? (Is it something I should add to the Session_End method?)

Any cast or conversion I trry to do tells me I'm dealing with an empty or null System Object. There doesn't seem to be any sort of syntax to get/set the cookie collection. With COM+ I've seesn soem articles that indcate a switch for Access to ASP Intrinsic Objects -- that seesm to describe my issue, but I'd rather not use COM+. There are also some articles that indicate if I was using ASP.NET I could use HttpContext and HttpRequest/Response, but that's a completely different set of data objects that don't seem to be available with classic ASP. I've been stuck on this fopr a few days. Any help appreciated.

  I have been using my website (ASP.NET MVC) in visual studio but now I want to host it on my server. I published from visual studio onto the network share to be used. The server is running Windows Home Server, IIS 6 and SQL Server 2008 R2 (express). In Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, I've attached the database and made sure that the user IUSR_SERVER is owner of the db. I also made sure that the user Network Service has access. The Web Site is configured in IIS to run anonymously as IUSR_SERVER. I have granted write and read access to IUSR_SERVER as well as Network Service and made sure that nothing is read only. The web.config has this connectionstring: <connectionStrings> <remove name="ApplicationServices" /> <add name="ApplicationServices" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;Initial Catalog=MyDatebase" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> However, I cannot browse my web site. • Getting "Comment post not allowed (400)" when using Django Comments

  I'm going through a Django book and I seem to be stuck. The code base used in the book is .96 and I'm using 1.0 for my Django install. The portion I'm stuck at is related to Django comments (django.contrib.comments). When I submit my comments I get "Comment post not allowed (400) Why: Missing content_type or object_pk field". I've found the Django documentation to be a bit lacking in this area and I'm hoping to get some help. The comment box is displayed just fine, it's when I submit the comment that I get the above error (or security warning as it truly appears). • Finding source of over release

  Hi, I'm consistently seeing the same message sent in as a crash report from users of an app. It's clear that an object is being over-released but I'm unable to replicate it and I'm looking for tips on tracing the source of it. Does the fact that this nearly exact same crash report is coming in repeatedly mean that it's the same object that's being over released, or because this is referring to the autorelease pool mean it could be any object? Does the reference to _CFRelease mean it's a Core Foundation object that's being over released?

• How can I manage SQL CE databases in SQL Server Management Studio?

  I created a SDF (SQL CE) database with Visual Studio 2008 (Add / New Item / Local Database). Is it possible to edit this database with SQL Server Management Studio? I tried to attach it but it only offered .mdf and attaching a .sdf file results in "failed to retrieve data for this request". If so, is it possible to create SDF files with Management Studio as well? Or are we stuck with the simple interface of the Visual Studio 2008 database manager?

• Silverlight Dataform validation doesn't work

  Hi I can't get dataform and it's controls to catch exceptions when validating. Fir instance, I have: <PasswordBox Password="{Binding Password,Mode=TwoWay,NotifyOnValidationError=true,ValidatesOnExceptions=true}" /> All required properties are set to true. In the setter of my Password property I throw a ValidationException upon failed validation, but the data form doesn't catch it, it just causes the application to crash as if it were a normal exception. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

• IHttpAsyncHandler and IObservable web requests

  Within Async handler I'm creating an IObservable from webrequest which returns a redirect string. I'm subscribing to that observable and calling AsyncResult.CompleteCall() but I'm forced to use Thread.Sleep(100) in order to get it executed. And it doesn't work every time. I'm pretty sure this is not correct. Could you please shine some light. • iPhone: UIImagePickerController Randomly Fails to Take Picture

  I use a UIPickerViewController to take picture. It works 80% but seemingly at random it fails to take a picture. In tracing the code I found out that it occasionally goes to -PinRecordNewTableViewController:viewDidUnload. • How does GMail implement Comet?

  With the help of HttpWatch, I tried to figure out how GMail implement Comet. I Login in GMail with two account, one in IE and the other in Firefox. Chatting in GTalk in GMail with some magic words like "WASSUP". Then, I logoff both GMail accounts, filter any http content without "WASSUP" string. The result shows which HTTP request is the streaming channel. (Note: I have to logoff. Otherwise, never-ending HTTP would not show content in HttpWatch.) The result is interesting. The URL for stream channel is like: https://mail/channel/bind?VER=8&at=xn3j33vcvk39lkfq..... There is no surprise that GMail do Comet in IE with IFRAME. The Http content starts with " Originally, I guessed that GMail do Comet in Firefox with multipart XmlHttpRequest. To my surprise, the response header doesn't have "multipart/x-mixed-replace" header. The response headers are as below: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, max-age=0, must-revalidate Pragma: no-cache Expires: Fri, 01 Jan 1990 00:00:00 GMT Date: Sat, 20 Mar 2010 01:52:39 GMT X-Frame-Options: ALLOWALL Transfer-Encoding: chunked X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff Server: GSE X-XSS-Protection: 0 Unfortunately, the HttpWatch doesn't tell whether a HTTP request is from XmlHttpRequest or not. The content is not HTML but JSON. It looks like a response for XHR, but that would not work for Comet without multipart/x-mixed-replace, right? Is there any way else to figure out how GMail implement Comet? Thanks.
