  Our software installs a package of legacy software for the client, some of it has old hlp file from 3rd party vendor requiring winhlp32.exe (note: we have no legal right to modify the hlp). Those client may only have cd/dvd and might not have internet access, etc. So I need a free 'WinHlp32.exe compatible' replacement for our redistribution under vista and windows 7. Background of problem: -Microsoft stopped including the 32-bit Help file viewer in Windows releases beginning with Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. -Starting with the release of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, third-party software developers are no longer authorized to redistribute WinHlp32.exe with their programs. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607

Personally I love IE for many reasons such as ease of use and stability.  I am cranked up to see what IE 9 does as it was retooled from the start. So this one should be big.   Hello i installed the news ubuntu the other day and istalled all the drivers and then restart the laptop. then i get the login screen with no problem then when i login the black screen in about 10 mins a window popup saying that the application compiz has closed unexpectedly i relunch the app. and then it happens again. i have uninstalled nvidia driver then restarted and the OS works fine.. tryed older driver and still the same problem. anyone out there can help would be great.

  I'm looking into scripting languages to embed in my game. I've always assumed Lua was the best choice, but I've read some recent news about embedding V8 as was considering using it instead. My question is two fold: Does anyone with experience embedding v8 (or another javascript engine) recommend it? How does it compare with embedding Lua? I like that v8 has a c++ embedding API. However Lua API has had lots of time to be refined (newer isn't always better and all that). Note: At this point I'm not too concerned with which is better language or which library has better performance. I'm only asking about ease of embedding.

• Where to find current information on quality of released games as software products?

  As a gamer, one thing I have learned I need to be savvy about is knowing whether SomeBigGame is actually unstable or otherwise problematic as a piece of software (riddled with invasive DRM products, only runs well on a particular video driver version, crashes on non-English-language systems, etc.). I know that game news media can sometimes be relied upon to report on some problems, but I doubt they bother to cover smaller or indie titles. An example: I've started playing Transformice on Kongregate, and I'm considering installing the downloadable client (it is an online multiplayer game). The part of me that cares about data privacy and maintaining a clean-and-healthy PC wants to know whether there is a place I can check to find out more about a title-as-software than "it is not a literal virus." Put another way: where would you not want to see your game receive lots of attention?

KLISS is developed by Propylon in partnership with the executive and legislative branches of the Kansas Government involving a complete overhaul of the Legislature's IT systems.   I have to use the On-Screen Keyboard of Windows 7 for typing: (In case you haven't used it yet, you can get it via: All Programs - Accessories - Ease of Access - On-Screen Keyboard or simply search for "osk.exe") It offers a feature to "hover" about the buttons. Microsoft describes it as the following: In hovering mode, you use a mouse or joystick to point to a key for a predefined period of time, and the selected character is typed automatically. There is my specific problem. The predefined period of time is too long to be useful for me. The minimum amount of time is 0.5 seconds (max. 3 seconds). Is there any way to alter this value to something < 0.5? For example via editing the registry? Edit: The entry *'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Osk\HoverPeriod'* cannot be set lower than 500 ms. Any helpful tip would be great!

  I'm in charge of a deployment of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2. Currently, I'm working through the discovery methods and trying to decide how to enable automatic discovery of systems and users. On Microsoft's documentation, they warn that Configuration Manager Automatic Discovery traffic can get pretty significant if you aren't careful in your implementation. Can anyone who has used this give me some information on how much traffic I should expect? We currently have around 1000 computers and 4000 user accounts in Active Directory. Thanks!

  Hello I'm trying to make some kind of tool for an school website, what I need to do is to make students take a test and according to what are the results (27 posibilities) they get a set of activities (questions) according to their level which they can solve in around 3 months logging periodically to the website, plus I need teachers to log and look at the reports. Now, I'm a graphic designer myself so my skills are mostly html5 and css3 and I know some php (edit existing ones only) and javascript (jquery) as well, most people tell me that I need a CMS to do the tool but all I find is CMS for display like blogs or news websites which I think aren't useful for me because the website is already made in html and css3 only (I need to add an extra page for the tool) I understand I need to create users and give them special rights according to what type of user they are and I also understand that I need a database where I can store all my questions. What is the best way to do this? what do you suggest me? Thanks

  I saw that many of HP envy users (and some other hardwares) are having problems while using Ubuntu (some other distributions too). PROBLEM My main issue is make my HDMI or Mini-display-port work on Linux (Ubuntu). I`m able to make it work smoothly on windows only :( TIP Some guy create a blog, that is very nice and I could found some helps over there. But is kind of abandoned.   Windows 8 includes PowerShell out of the box, but not the help. To get the help you run PowerShell as administrator and type "update-help".   OS: Microsoft Windows Vista SP2, Microsoft Windows 7 My laptop is plugged to a docking station that supports dual monitors, which I use extensively. I have windows placed where I want them. All is well and predictable with this setup until I un-dock. The moment I un-dock all windows that I placed in the secondary monitor piles up in the primary monitor and it is an unholy mess. So, I am looking for a solution where if I use virtual desktops, one of them can be mapped to a monitor and when un-docked what was there in the secondary monitor stays in a virtual desktop. Do you folks know of a tool or workaround that can address my quandary?

• Grub2 cannot detect Windows 8

  At installation it did not detect Windows. I mounted the Windows partition and have run os-prober with no results returning. I am able to boot Windows or Ubuntu by specifying the partition in UEFI boot order. The bios does not appear to allow booting with legacy. SecureBoot is on. This is with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a Inspiron 15. I added the following to /etc/grub.d/40_custom but booting ubuntu did not offer a grub menu: menuentry "Windows 8" { set root = "(hd0,4)" chainloader +1 } When booting I think I see "EFI Disk error" flash very quickly before Ubuntu starts booting.
