• Where can I find Object Model Documentation for Microsoft Expression Web Add-ins

  I am working on an add-in for Microsoft Expression Web. I have gotten enough information on the web to know that I have to add references to Microsoft.Expression.Interop.WebDesigner, Microsoft.Expression.Interop.WebDesignerPage, and Microsoft.Expression.Interop.WebDesigner. The problem is that there does not seem to be any official documentation on the classes within these dll-s. There is even a Microsoft Connect issue about the lack of documentation. I have been using the object browser in Visual Studio 2008 and Reflector but that is pretty thin soup. Does anyone know where there is some reasonable documentation. I am not looking for a sample "hello world" implementation. I want some more substance and depth.

• Why isn't Google Web Toolkit more popular?

  I've recently become intrigued with Google Web Toolkit and have started playing with it on some personal projects. I've noticed though that it doesn't seem to be very popular. For example, two major freelancing job boards (www.elance.com and www.odesk.com) list no jobs for GWT and the list of projects using it on Google's official site is pretty slim http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/app_gallery.html (compare to Django projects for example http://www.djangosites.org/). This seems odd to me as GWT has been around since 2006 and is supported by the Google brand name. It also neatly solves the problem of creating cross-browser completely dynamic websites that I haven't seen possible with any other tool. So, why the lack of acceptance?

• How to read STDIN into string variable until EOF in C?

  Hi, im getting "Bus Error" trying to read stdin into a char* variable. I just want to read whole stuff coming over stdin and put it first into a variable, then continue working on the variable. My Code is as follows: char* content; char* c; while( scanf( "%c", c)) { strcat( content, c); } fprintf( stdout, "Size: %d", strlen( content)); But somehow i always get "Bus error" returned by calling "cat test.txt | myapp", where "myapp" is the compiled code above. My question is how do i read stdin until EOF into a variable? As you see in the code, i just want to print the size of input coming over stdin, in this case it should be equal to the size of the file "test.txt". I thought just using scanf would be enough, maybe buffered way to read stdin?

• Facebook Graph API - authorization types?

  I'm struggling with the new Facebook Graph API, perhaps someone here can help. Here is what I want to do: provide a ‘login w/ FB’ button, throw to /authorize, get a code, throw to /access_token, get an access_token, and be able to hit https://graph.facebook.com/me for info about the user. When I try to use type=client_cred in the /authorize call, I get an access_token that lets me hit URLs with userIDs or names, but not /me. I receive an error stating I need a valid token. If I can't hit /me, how do I figure out who the current user is? What exactly should I use in the type param if I want a website to access a users data? I've seen posts with type=web_server, etc, but I can't seem to find a sure fire way to do, what I think, is pretty simple... Thanks ahead of time for any help thats provided...

  I'm starting a new project based on ASP.NET and Windows server. The application is planned to be pretty big and serve large amount of clients pulling and updating high freq. changing data. I have previously created projects with Linq-To-Sql or with Ado.Net. My plan for this project is to use VS2010 and the new EF4 framework. It would be great to hear other programmers options about development with Entity Framework Pros and cons from previous experience? Do you think EF4 is ready for production? Should i take the risk or just stick with plain old good ADO.NET?

• OutOfMemoryException with Image.Clone - Only on Windows 2003

  So here's my issue. I have an image that I need to shrink. The original image is a grayscale PNG, which isn't a huge issues except that when I shrink it down, the thermal label printers pickup the artifacts and print them on the label. So, what I did was change the image to black & white (Format1bppIndexed) before resizing, like this: Dim bte() As Byte = System.Convert.FromBase64String(imgStr) Dim ms As New IO.MemoryStream(bte) Dim bmp As New System.Drawing.Bitmap(ms) Dim monoImage As Drawing.Bitmap = New Drawing.Bitmap(1200, 1800, Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format1bppIndexed) Dim rect As New Drawing.Rectangle(0, 0, 1200, 1800) monoImage = bmp.Clone(rect, Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format1bppIndexed) And then I resize it. This code works fine on my Windows 7 machine, but when I run it on the Windows 2003 Server box that it calls home, it always throws an OutOfMemoryException when it hits the bmp.Clone line. Any ideas as to what's happening, or perhaps a better solution to converting the image to B&W?

• passing json from servlet to dojo

  I am currently trying to pass a generated JSON string to dojo for parsing and am having some issues. The servlet simply writes it as a string as so: response.getWriter().append("{ \"data\": {"); response.getWriter().append("\"type\": \"facing\","); response.getWriter().append("\"score\": " + "\"" + score + "\","); response.getWriter().append("\"count\":" + "\"" + count + "\"" ); response.getWriter().append("}}"); which prints as: {"data":{"type":"facing","score":"10","count":"24"}} And the parsing on the dojo end looks as so: dojo.xhrPost({ url: url, handleAs: "json", load: function(data) { alert(data); /* Parse Not working */ alert(data.data[0].type); }, error: function(error) { alert("No dice") } }); The main issue is the data.data[0].type is returning nothing but when i print this out as text the json seems to be correctly formatted. Any help with this would be appreciated.

• Can't mark email read with InterIMAP, folder is read-only

  I'm trying to mark emails read (/SEEN) with InterIMAP, but this doesn't work. I stepped through the code with debugger, and found out that the response from mail server is "IMAP0078 OK Store ignored with read-only mailbox.", which pretty much tells me why it doesn't work. But it looks like there's no way to tell InterIMAP to open the connection as read-write. If I use something like Thunderbird, I can set the messages as read. Does anyone know how I should use InterIMAP to achieve what I'm trying, or how to change the source code so that I'd be able to mark messages as read?

  Hi guys, I'm modifying our collaboration system so it can be listed on google applications. A small issue I'm facing is the registering of user details. By default whenever someone logs into their google Apps account they pretty much are logged into the application. For every action taken by a registered login in user I store the user ID of that signed in user whenever an update is made in the database. However the google apps user sign in process is different in this respect that there isn't anything visible as a user ID for me to work with. Any ideas?

  I'm teaching my self python and I was translating some sample class Student: def __init__( self, name, a,b,c ): self.name = name self.a = a self.b = b self.c = c def average(self): return ( a+b+c ) / 3.0 Which is pretty much my intended class definition Later in the main method I create an instance and call it a if __name__ == "__main__" : a = Student( "Oscar", 10, 10, 10 ) That's how I find out that the variable a declared in main is available to the method average and that to make that method work , I have to type self.a + self.b + self.c instead What's the rationale of this? I found related questions, but I don't really know if they are about the same

  I am implementing a "breakpoint" system for use in my Python development that will allow me to call a function that, in essence, calls pdb.set_trace(); Some of the functionality that I would like to implement requires me to control pdb from code while I am within a set_trace context. Example: disableList = [] def breakpoint(name=None): def d(): disableList.append(name) #**** #issue 'run' command to pdb so user #does not have to type 'c' #**** if name in disableList: return print "Use d() to disable breakpoint, 'c' to continue" pdb.set_trace(); In the above example, how do I implement the comments demarked by the #**** ? In other parts of this system, I would like to issue an 'up' command, or two sequential 'up' commands without leaving the pdb session (so the user ends up at a pdb prompt but up two levels on the call stack.   I have some pretty straightforward markup: <form action=""> <fieldset class="compact"> <legend>Member Tools</legend> <label for="username">Username</label> <input name="username" id="username" type="text"/> <label for="password">Password</label> <input name="password" id="password" type="password" /> </fieldset> </form> I am attempting to add a small margin to the bottom of the Legend element, this works just fine in Firefox 2 and 3 as well as IE 5-8, however in Safari and Chrome adding a margin does nothing. As far as I know legend is just another block level element and Webkit should have no issue adding a margin to it, or am I incorrect?

Is there a method resembling worksheet.rowNum or colNum?

• cannot find vcvarsall.bat when runnning a pyhton script

  hello all, i am working on vista, and using python 2.6.4. i am using a software which uses a python script. but then i bumped into the message "cannot find vcvarsall.bat". so i installed visual c++ 2010. still the file is not found though it is there. my guess (a very uneducated one...) is that somewhere the path is wrong, because i also have an old visual 2008 (pretty empty) folder. since i have little idea in programming i have no idea where to make the changes for the new path. do i change something in the registery or in the script. i would be happy if somebody could help (preferably in lamen terms). thanx. Instead, create a separate DbCompiledModel for each type of server being used. I am at a complete loss - I've scoured google with almost every different variation of that error message above I can think of but to no avail. Here are the things i can verify... • pchart pie chart legend and graph not correlating

  Hi, I have ten values in the dataset, numbers 1 - 10 and corresponding values. Some of the values are coming back as zero, so they are not added to the chart, BUT, the legend is still listing 1 - 10. Because theres values missing in the chart, the colour coding is knocked off. ie Item 1, has a value of zero, its passed over in the chart, the colour in the legend is red, Item 2, has a value of 4, the percentage is calculated, and the chart gives it the colour red which is the colour for item 1 in the legend. Hope that makes sense. How can I print the legend just for the values that are displayed in the chart? --Mark

• White view when launch iOS app in simulator

  I have been working for 4 months on an app, its pretty complex and works fine. Now suddenly, I added a new class and did some changes to the MainWindow.xib with all my views there and now I just get a plain white view when I launch it with simulator. I even stripped it down completely to nothing but the appdelegate and one simple plain view with a button. So basically I've got an app with nothing but an appDelegate managing a tabBar, launching with one simple view, no frameworks no nothing and I still get a white app. There must be an option somewhere that I must have activated for the running of app in simulator but I can't figure it out. • Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

  Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia.   I am building a web application that has a real-time feed (similar to Facebook's newsfeed) that I want to update via a long-polling mechanism. I understand that with Python, my choices are pretty much to either use Stackless (building from their Comet wsgi example) or Cometd + Twisted. Unfortunately there is very little documentation regarding these options and I cannot find good information online about production scale users of comet on Python. Has anyone successfully implemented comet on Python in a production system? How did you go about doing it and where can I find resources to implement my own?

• Entity Framework: EntityCommand automatically parsing and determine parameter types?

  Hi everybody, Pretty new to Entity Framework I must admit, but I simply cannot believe that there is no built-in solution for this problem. Let's say I create an EntityCommand: EntityCommand cmd = conn.CreateCommand(); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text; cmd.CommandText = commandText; And let's say the the commandText is something like this: SELECT sp.UserName, sp.Rights FROM EntityContext.Users as sp WHERE sp.UserName=@UserName Now it would be really neat if the Parameters collection of cmd could be automatically filled. The framework should obviously know the types etc. but I guess that's simply not how it works beneath. The problem is that the commandText is configurable on run-time, and I must show some GUI that asks for values of the parameters. Any idea on how this could be accomplished? • If I package a web application with the maven goal war:exploded, why won't pom.xml and pom.propertie

  Hi, I'm pretty new to Maven and I've noticed an interesting thing in the Maven WAR Plugin. When I package my Java web application with war:war, a zipped war is created. This war contains also the files pom.xml and pom.properties in the META-INF directory. But if I package my application with war:exploded and create an exploded war directory, those two files won't be included. Now I'm curious, why the pom.xml and the pom.properties aren't packaged into the exploded war. Besides those two files the contents of the exploded and the zipped war are equal. Is there a reason why the plugin omits pom.xml and pom.properties from the exploded war?
