  • Entity Framework 4.1 auto generate with DbContext when creating ADO.NET Entity Data Model

    I would like to work with DbContext instead of ObjectContext. I updated EF so now I have the DbContext, but I want to generate my strongly-typed context based on the DbContext and not the ObjectContext. When I add new ADO.NET Entity Data Model, it is still based on the ObjectContext. Is it not possible to have it base off of DbContext in Visual Studio 2010 with EF 4.1? UPDATE: Okay, I followed the directions in this link and was able to generate the DbContext template objects. However, now it is saying there is ambiguity between the template entities and the entities in my .edmx file. How do I resovle this? Do I blow away the ones in the .edmx file?

    I have a spreadsheet sorted by dates. Everyday, I enter new data into it. After each day, I leave one row empty before starting the next day. Example: 20.09.12 XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXX XXXXX XX XX XXXXX XX XXXX 21.09.12 XXX XXXXX XXX XXXX X XXXX XXXX XXX 22.09.12 XXXX XX XXXX XXXX So I want excel to always fill in the current date whenever I enter data after one blank row, but obviously the dates shall stay the same - not be updated to the current date whenever I open excel. I am using Excel 2007 and while non vba ideas are preferred, vba is not a problem either!

We're currently facing a small problem: everyone saves their edits of our web application directly to the server, which means countless errors when we all work on the same class.     I scripted the tables in my dev database using SQL 2008 - generate scripts option (Datbase-right click-Tasks-Generate Scripts) and ran it on the staging database, but the script throws the below error for each table Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1 Incorrect syntax near '('. Msg 319, Level 15, State 1, Line 15 Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'with'. If this statement is a common table expression, an xmlnamespaces clause or a change tracking context clause, the previous statement must be terminated with a semicolon.     Hi, I'm trying to make a custom gridview in WPF but I just realized that as this link says: The GridViewHeaderRowPresenter class performs layout for the column headers in a GridView and places an additional column header at the end to add space and because of the additional column header at the end, there's an extra column to the right of the last column. so I was wondering if I can modify it, please refer to this image below My questions are: Is there anyway I can remove the 'A' part from the grid? Is there anyway I can add the same effect of 'B' part (the role = padding header) to the 'C' Part (before the first column)? Thanks

    In C# (.Net) you can create a panel and set autoscroll to true. you can then add controls into it, including beyond it's size, then it will scroll. I was wondering if when using the real WinAPI in c++ (not .net) how one could acheive the same result. Must I keep track of the controls inside and move them all when I scroll or is there an easier way like in C#. Thanks

    I would like some tool, preferably one that plugs into VS 2008/2010, that will go through my methods and add XML comments about the possible exceptions they can throw. I don't want the <summary> or other XML tags to be generated for me because I'll fill those out myself, but it would be nice if even on private/protected methods I could see which exceptions could be thrown. Otherwise I find myself going through the methods and hovering on all the method calls within them to see the list of exceptions, then updating that method's <exception list to include those. Maybe a VS macro could do this? The tool would also need to eliminate duplicates, like if two calls within a method are documented as throwing DirectoryNotFoundException, the method would only list <exception cref="System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException"/> once.

  • Javascript auto calculating with (+) and (-)

    I need some help finding the error in my javascript calculation. I need to calculate the sum of my input boxes automatically and have my user be able to edit the calculation using + or - buttons. The code I have already does the calculation automatically if you manually enter the numbers, but pressing the + or - does not change the calculation.   • Non-auto-increment rails/postgresql column

    I'm trying to have a model/table with duplicate information in it. The reason for this is so that the same data can be written to the table under different users and found for each user. However, I want a quick easy way to identify which information is a duplicate of other information. I think the best way to do this would be to have an item_id of sorts that increments with each "set" of entries to the table. Is there a way to do this without including another table that stores the information without attributing it to users?
