    I keep getting weird errors from launchpad when I try and copy the Maverick packages to Natty for the PPA. I select the wine1.3 package (not in Ubuntu), select "copy to this PPA", and then select "rebuild the resulting binaries". This error emerges: The following source cannot be copied: wine1.3 1.3.11-0ubuntu1 in maverick (same version already has published binaries in the destination archive) I have no idea what this error means but apparently it doesn't mean there are binaries in the destination archive.

  • Getting a KeyError in DB backend of django-digest

    I have just started to integrate django_digest into my app. As a start I have added the @httpdigest decorator to one of my views. If I try to connect to it I get a KeyError exception thrown in django_digest/backend/db.py . Depending on which db I configure I get a different KeyError in a different location. I am using Django 1.2.1, with MySql (also tested with sqlite). I am using the default values for all the settings options. As far as I can see I have followed all instructions but am struggling all day with this. I am using the repository versions of django-digest and python-digest. Any steer would be greatly appreciated.   • Is there a work around for the broken IE Tab in Firefox 3.6?

    My Firefox upgraded itself automatically to version 3.6, and I found that IE tab is broken there. Apparently IE tab is known to be broken in this version. Are there any known workarounds such as these? a different plugin with the same functionality a way to tell FF to behave in some legacy or compatibility mode for certain plugins a new version of IE tab In the meanwhile I'm glad that Chrome's current release supports plugins, and IE tab works there.

  • Yum install packages to an alternate directory, without chroot?

    I would like to use the Foswiki yum repository to install Foswiki (296 packages). The default installation path is /var/lib/, but I want to install it to an alternate location at /opt/www/. In the future, I still want to use yum to check for and apply updates to the packages. Is it possible to use yum to install packages to an location which is different then the default location provided by RPMs? Does Yum provide anything similar to ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/ or rpm --install --prefix=/opt/local? Yum provides the --installroot option, but that appears to primarily for chroot environments.

  • How can I reconnect to a ssh session after a broken pipe?

    So I was running apt-get upgrade on a server when the router decided it had been too long since it last made me angry: It dropped all connection. Moral of the story is to use screen a lot when you're on a bum router. Anyway, I logged back in and found in htop that the process was still hanging there, still waiting for my Y/n to upgrade (hadn't hit it yet, luckily). Is there any way I can reattach to a session that had been broken off? I ended up just killing it since it wasn't in the middle of package management but it would be great to know for future reference.

  • In terms of SEO, is it better to have a URL broken down by folder, or with dashed names?

    I am creating a friendly url interpreter for my website. I have read dozens of similar topics on this site, but none that seem to address my particular situation. What I want to know is if it's better to have: A well broken down URL where each category is represented by a folder domain.com/1036/OR/Lane/Lowell/Wetleau-Subdivision -OR- A URL which groups all of the categories and terms together domain.com/1036/Wetleau-Subdivision-Lowell-OR-Lane I am asking only in terms of what is best for SEO, not necessarily human readability. My thinking is that it may be better to group them all together like they are in the second example. My reasoning being that all of those terms represent the page and are more likely to draw a result. I am a complete SEO nub though, and I crave some expert guidance.   • How do I solve an unresolved external when using C++ Builder packages?

    I'm experimenting with reconfiguring my application to make heaving use of packages. Both I and another developer running a similar experiment are running into a bit of trouble when linking using several different packages. We're probably both doing something wrong, but goodness knows what :) The situation is this: The first package, PackageA.bpl, contains C++ class FooA. The class is declared with the PACKAGE directive. The second package, PackageB.bpl, contains a class inheriting from FooA, called FooB. It includes FooB.h, and the package is built using runtime packages, and links to PackageA by adding a reference to PackageA.bpi. It seems "safer" using VCL-style classes when trying to solve problems with a very Delphi-ish thing like this anyway. Changing this only changes the order of unresolved externals to first not find Method1 and Method2, then others.) The .cpp files also contain #pragma package(smart_init) near the top, under the includes. Questions that might help... Are packages reliable using C++, or are they only useable with Delphi code? Is linking to the first package by adding a reference to its BPI correct - is that how you're supposed to do it? I could use a LIB but it seems to make the second package much larger, and I suspect it's statically linking in the contents of the first. Can we use the PACKAGE directive only on TObject-derived classes? There is no compiler warning using it on standard C++ classes. Is splitting code into packages the best way to achieve the goal of isolating code and communicating through defined layers / interfaces? I've been investigating this path because it seems to be the C++Builder / Delphi Way, and if it worked it looks attractive. But are there better alternatives? I'm very new to using packages and have only known about them through using components before. Any general words of advice would be great! We're using C++Builder 2010. I've fabricated the class and method names in the above code examples, but other than that the details are exactly what we're seeing. Cheers, David

  • OSGi bundle imports packages from non-bundle jars: create bundles for them?

    I am new to OSGi, and am using Equinox. I have done several searches and can find no answer to this. The discussion at OSGI - handling 3rd party JARs required by a bundle helps somewhat, but does not fully answer my question. I have obtained a jar file, rabbitmq-client.jar, that is already packaged as an OSGi bundle (with Bundle-Name and other such properties in its MANIFEST.MF), that I would like to install as a bundle. This jar imports packages org.apache.commons.io and org.apache.commons.io.input from commons-io-1.2.jar. The RabbitMQ client 2.7.1 distribution also includes commons-cli-1.1.jar, so I presume that it is required as well. I examined the manifests of these commons jars and found that they do not appear to be packaged as bundles. That is, their manifests have none of the standard bundle properties. My specific question is: if I install rabbitmq-client.jar as a bundle, what is the proper way to get access to the packages that it needs to import from the commons jars? There are only three alternatives that I can think of, without rebuilding rabbitmq-client.jar. The packages from the commons jars are already included in the Equinox global classpath, and rabbitmq-client.jar will get them automatically from there. I must make another bundle with the two commons jars, export the needed packages, and install that bundle in Equinox. I must put these two commons jars in the global classpath when I start Equinox, and they will be available to rabbitmq-client.jar from there. I have read that one normally does not use the global classpath in an OSGi container. I am not clear on whether items from the global classpath are even available when building individual bundle classpaths. However, I note that rabbitmq-client.jar also imports other packages such as javax.net, which I presume come from the global classpath. Or is there some other bundle that exports them?   • Is this DVD drive broken? Brand new, i need help convincing

    I am asking bc i know dell is going to give me a problem. How do i know if my DVD is broken on my laptop? i burnt 4 DL disc and they ALL failed, i called and dell suggested roxio. I used it and burnt 1 disc without error and the 2nd disc with an error. With both apps there were no 'problems' during the burning process only failed on the verification process. Some of these bad disc dont work on other PCs and one locks up windows when i click a specific file. Does that sound like a broken burner to you guys? when i called dell they told me since it can read disc properly 100% of the time and software doesnt fail in the burning process its not a broken drive _. They forward me to software support who demand a fee (i think $100) to help me fix my software. I am annoyed bc i dont want to be on the phone for them to watch me burn a dvd and since i burned it once correctly i dont want to happen to burn correctly again to have them say they solved my problem (doing nothing) and charge me refusing to refund. -edit- The errors i got were 1) the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error 2) Windows locking up when opening 1 specific file 3) Cannot copy : Data error (crc) NOTE: the file that causes the problems are random every disc

    I'm running 12.04, and I've never downloaded any drivers for the installation of any peripheral devices. Yet, I noticed a fair few "Important security updates" involving drivers/utilities for HP devices/software. I understand if the default installation of Ubuntu came with a set of drivers for these devices - and the update manager, having noticed that they live on my system, went and found newer versions, but still - given I don't use any devices - I'm either forced to download an irrelevant update, sift through the updates to check applicability, or turn off Update Manager altogether: none of which are desirable. First; the obvious - can someone confirm that the list of "Important security updates" on the server that Update manager connects to, is not actually populated with every patch ever written (i.e. for all Ubuntu packages regardless of whether they're installed or not)? Unlikely, but..
