  • forcing Validation; WPF, DataGrid, ObservableCollection

    - by Steve Mills
    I have a WPF DataGrid. I read a csv file and build an ObservableCollection of objects. I set the DataGrid.ItemsSource to the Collection. I would like to then force a RowValidation on every row in the DataGrid. If I, playing user, edit a cell, the RowValidation fires, all is well. But the Validation does not fire on the initial load. Is there some way I can call ??ValidateRow?? on a row? on every row? (C#, WPF, VS2008, etc)

  • VB.NET - 'Title' is not a member of 'Calendar.Appointment'

    - by Daniel
    I am having a problem with my code. I am using VB.NET and Visual Studio 2010 to write my program. The source of the control that I am using can be found here. First, I imported the Calendar.DayView.dll file into my toolbox to use as a control. Then I added the following code to my existing code: Private Sub DayView1_NewAppointment(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal args As Calendar.NewAppointmentEventArgs) Dim appointment As New Calendar.Appointment() appointment.StartDate = args.StartDate appointment.EndDate = args.EndDate appointment.Title = args.Title appointments.Add(appointment) End Sub I get this error 'Title' is not a member of 'Calendar.Appointment'. I have no access to the Calendar namespace or the Appointment class. I am able to view the properties of both in the Object Browser but I can't edit any of them. Any suggestions?

  • WPF custom Button using Geometry from resource

    Is there a way to use a collection of PathGeometry like these: Path 1 F1 M 170.255,178.837L 170.255,221.158C 170.255,228.917 164.174,230.777 156.745,225.286L 136.003,209.973C 128.572,204.488 128.572,195.512 136.003,190.023L 156.745,174.706C 164.174,169.217 170.255,171.079 170.255,178.837 Z Path 2 F1 M 152.29,174.464L 134.314,187.734C 129.978,190.937 127.589,195.29 127.589,199.994C 127.589,204.7 129.978,209.057 134.314,212.26L 152.29,225.531C 150.333,229.378 145.412,229.52 139.678,225.286L 118.935,209.973C 111.506,204.489 111.506,195.512 118.935,190.022L 139.678,174.708C 145.412,170.475 150.333,170.617 152.29,174.464 Z and use them to make a custom button in the same way you can make a circular button shown in this example? http://www.wpftutorial.net/Templates.html The example involves overriding the control template and it seems a lot of work if I want to have many custom-shaped buttons. And what if I want to load the geometry points from the resource?

  • WPF custom BalloonTips problem with multithreading

    - by Erika
    Hi, I have read other related question but i cant really get them to relate to this so I thought it were best to ask, Im pretty new to WPF and so on so please bear with me. I am using this http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/wpf_notifyicon.aspx api to work with custom WPF Windows (in particular FancyBalloon). However, i'm coming across the following problem, I seem unable to start off BalloonTips in a separate thread ( i need this because i'm parsing emails and hence if there are 3 emails for instance, it displays the first email (that works fine), but when it comes to the second email it crashes with a TargetInvocationException , {"Specified element is already the logical child of another element. Disconnect it first."}. Thing is, im supposedly working with the same instance and i have attempted calling it to close it before, disposing it etc but to no avail. (then again if i dispose it, i cant create another instance as apparently WPF UI components must be called from a static thread so throughout the looping of emails + displaying balloon, i am trying to use the same BalloonTip. Any suggestions please? I am really at a loss here and i've been on it for quite a while now :/ I was wondering if there was anyone

  • wpf - window to be tight round user control

    - by Andy Clarke
    Hi, I've got a user control that I'm loading into a Window dynamically - I wanted to set the Window so that it didn't have a size and then I thought the window to resize accordingly depending on the UserControl. However it dosn't - can anyone assist please? I've made a very basic example - I've cut out the dynamic bits and just put a UserControl in a Window. What do I need to do to get the window to be tight around the UserControl? Thanks, Andy <UserControl x:Class="WpfApplication1.UserControl1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Height="300" Width="300" Background="LightBlue"> <Grid> </Grid> </UserControl> <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:WpfApplication1="clr-namespace:WpfApplication1" Title="Window1" > <Grid> <WpfApplication1:UserControl1> </WpfApplication1:UserControl1> </Grid> </Window>

  • Create a grid in WPF as Template programmatically

    - by wickie79
    I want to create a basic user control with a style programmatically. In this style i want to add a Grid (no problem), but i dont can add column definitions to this grid. My example code is ControlTemplate templ = new ControlTemplate(); FrameworkElementFactory mainPanel = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(DockPanel)); mainPanel.SetValue(DockPanel.LastChildFillProperty, true); FrameworkElementFactory headerPanel = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(StackPanel)); headerPanel.SetValue(StackPanel.OrientationProperty, Orientation.Horizontal); headerPanel.SetValue(DockPanel.DockProperty, Dock.Top); mainPanel.AppendChild(headerPanel); FrameworkElementFactory headerImg = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(Image)); headerImg.SetValue(Image.MarginProperty, new Thickness(5)); headerImg.SetValue(Image.HeightProperty, 32d); headerImg.SetBinding(Image.SourceProperty, new Binding("ElementImage") { RelativeSource = new RelativeSource(RelativeSourceMode.TemplatedParent) }); headerPanel.AppendChild(headerImg); FrameworkElementFactory headerTitle = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(TextBlock)); headerTitle.SetValue(TextBlock.FontSizeProperty, 16d); headerTitle.SetValue(TextBlock.VerticalAlignmentProperty, VerticalAlignment.Center); headerTitle.SetBinding(TextBlock.TextProperty, new Binding("Title") { RelativeSource = new RelativeSource(RelativeSourceMode.TemplatedParent) }); headerPanel.AppendChild(headerTitle); FrameworkElementFactory mainGrid = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(Grid)); FrameworkElementFactory c1 = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ColumnDefinition)); c1.SetValue(ColumnDefinition.WidthProperty, new GridLength(1, GridUnitType.Star)); FrameworkElementFactory c2 = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ColumnDefinition)); c2.SetValue(ColumnDefinition.WidthProperty, new GridLength(1, GridUnitType.Auto)); FrameworkElementFactory c3 = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ColumnDefinition)); c3.SetValue(ColumnDefinition.WidthProperty, new GridLength(3, GridUnitType.Star)); FrameworkElementFactory colDefinitions = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ColumnDefinitionCollection)); colDefinitions.AppendChild(c1); colDefinitions.AppendChild(c2); colDefinitions.AppendChild(c3); mainGrid.AppendChild(colDefinitions); mainPanel.AppendChild(mainGrid); FrameworkElementFactory content = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ContentPresenter)); content.SetBinding(ContentPresenter.ContentProperty, new Binding() { RelativeSource = new RelativeSource(RelativeSourceMode.TemplatedParent), Path = new PropertyPath("Content") }); mainGrid.AppendChild(content); templ.VisualTree = mainPanel; Style mainStyle = new Style(); mainStyle.Setters.Add(new Setter(UserControl.TemplateProperty, templ)); this.Style = mainStyle; But the creation of FrameworkElementFactory with type ColumnDefinitionCollection will throw an exception "'ColumnDefinitionCollection' type must derive from FrameworkElement, FrameworkContentElement, or Visual3D."   • Binding WPF menu items to WPF Tab Control Items collection

    - by William
    I have a WPF Menu and a Tab control. I would like the list of menu items to be generated from the collection of TabItems on my tab control. I am binding my tab control to a collection to generate the TabItems. I have a TabItem style that uses a ContentPresenter to display the TabItem text in a TextBlock. When I bind the tab items to my menu the menu items are blank. I assume the menu items are looking for the Header property of the TabItems which I am not using. Is there a workaround for my scenario? Is it possible to bind to the Header property of the tab item, when I do not know the number of tabs in advance? Below is a copy of my xaml declarations. Tab Control and items: <DataTemplate x:Key="ClosableTabItemTemplate"> <DockPanel HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"> <Button Command="{Binding Path=CloseWorkSpaceCommand}" Content="X" Cursor="Hand" DockPanel.Dock="Right" Focusable="False" FontFamily="Courier" FontSize="9" FontWeight="Bold" Margin="10,1,0,0" Padding="0" VerticalContentAlignment="Bottom" Width="16" Height="16" Background="Red" /> <ContentPresenter HorizontalAlignment="Center" Content="{Binding Path=DisplayName}"> <ContentPresenter.Resources> <Style TargetType="{x:Type TextBlock}"/> </ContentPresenter.Resources> </ContentPresenter> </DockPanel> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate x:Key="WorkspacesTemplate"> <TabControl IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="True" ItemsSource="{Binding}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource ClosableTabItemTemplate}" Margin="10" Background="#4C4C4C"/> </DataTemplate> My Menu <Menu Background="Transparent"> <MenuItem Style="{StaticResource TabMenuButtonStyle}" ItemsSource="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type TabControl}}, Path=Items}" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource TabMenuItem}"> </MenuItem> </Menu>

  • BlackBerry - Custom centered cyclic HorizontalFieldManager

    - by Hezi
    Trying to create a custom cyclical horizontal manager which will work as follows. It will control several field buttons where the buttons will always be positioned so that the focused button will be in the middle of the screen. As it is a cyclical manager once the focus moves to the right or left button, it will move to the center of the screen and all the buttons will move accordingly (and the last button will become the first to give it an cyclic and endless list feeling) Any idea how to address this? I tried doing this by implementing a custom manager which aligns the buttons according to the required layout. Each time moveFocus() is called I remove all fields (deleteAll() ) and add them again in the right order. Unfortunately this does not work.

  • WPF Datagrid set the column values only when the row is left

    - by Noam
    Hello I have a simple class. When I use it in winforms binding, whenever I change a value of a cell and leave the cell, the property immediately get changed. Using WPF Datagrid, whenever i change a value of a cell, the property gets set only after I leave the row. That is problematic for me. What am I doing wrong? Here is my code: public class MyClass : IEditableObject, INotifyPropertyChanged { string _name, _lastName; public string Name { get { return _name; } set { _name = value; _lastName = value + " xxx"; OnPropertyChanged("LastName"); MessageBox.Show("Test"); } } private void OnPropertyChanged(string p) { var x = new PropertyChangedEventArgs(p); if (PropertyChanged != null) PropertyChanged(this, x); } public string LastName { get { return _lastName; } set { _lastName = value; } } public void BeginEdit() { } public void CancelEdit() { } public void EndEdit() { } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; } public class myBindingList : BindingList<MyClass> { public myBindingList() { AllowNew = true; Add(new MyClass { Name = "noam" }); Add(new MyClass { Name = "yael" }); } }

  • How can I make a grid of clickable images from a list of data in WPF?

    - by mico
    Hello, I am a seasoned C and Java programmer, but an absolute WPF newbie. I am creating a kiosk application that will display a list of images of products that the user will click to see product details and maybe place an order. I am trying to structure my app with MVVM Foundation because I am used to the benefits of structure and tests. I wonder what is the most natural way to create a grid of clickable images that will fill the screen left to right, top to bottom (or the other way round, I have no exact requirements). Any image should be bound to an object that will become current and be displayed in the next screen. Thanks for your help.

  • Checking if a RoutedEvent has any handlers

    - by AK
    I've got a custom Button class, that always performs the same action when it gets clicked (opening a specific window). I'm adding a Click event that can be assigned in the button's XAML, like a regular button. When it gets clicked, I want to execute the Click event handler if one has been assigned, otherwise I want to execute the default action. The problem is that there's apparently no way to check if any handlers have been added to an event. I thought a null check on the event would do it: if (Click == null) { DefaultClickAction(); } else { RaiseEvent(new RoutedEventArgs(ClickEvent, this));; } ...but that doesn't compile. The compiler tells me that I can't do anything other than += or -= to an event outside of the defining class, event though I'm trying to do this check INSIDE the defining class. I've implemented the correct behavior myself, but it's ugly and verbose and I can't believe there isn't a built-in way to do this. I must be missing something. Here's the relevant code: public class MyButtonClass : Control { //... public static readonly RoutedEvent ClickEvent = EventManager.RegisterRoutedEvent("Click", RoutingStrategy.Bubble, typeof(RoutedEventHandler), typeof(MyButtonClass)); public event RoutedEventHandler Click { add { ClickHandlerCount++; AddHandler(ClickEvent, value); } remove { ClickHandlerCount--; RemoveHandler(ClickEvent, value); } } private int ClickHandlerCount = 0; private Boolean ClickHandlerExists { get { return ClickHandlerCount > 0; } } //... }

  • Extending a DropDownList control

    - by Andrew Robinson
    I have a rather large application that has literally a hundred DDLs with Yes / No ListItems. In an attempt to same myself some time, I created a Custom Control that extends the standard DDL. It all seems to work fine but I am having some issues when assigning the SelectedValue property in code where the selected value does not seem to have an affect on the control. I wonder if I should be adding my items during Init or PagePreLoad? Should I be calling base.OnInit before or after I add the list items? This mostly works but not 100%. (v3.5) public class YesNoDropDownList : DropDownList { protected override void OnLoad(EventArgs e) { base.OnLoad(e); if (!Page.IsPostBack) { base.Items.Add(new ListItem("Yes", "YES")); base.Items.Add(new ListItem("No", "NO")); } } }

  • How to pass EventArgument information from view to view model in WPF?

    - by Ashish Ashu
    I have ListView control in my application which is binded to the collection of CustomObject List<CustomObject. The CustomObject has seperate view. This ListView has seperate view model. The collection List _customobject is containted in the ListView ViewModel class. My Query: I want to invoke a view that show properties of custom object, when user double click on any row of ListView. The ListView double click command is binded to the ListViewDoublClick Command in the view model. The CustomObject is in the event argument of listview double click command. To acheive this I have to pass the custom object ( or an unique id property of custom object through which I can retrieve the custom object from the collection) as command parameter. Please suggest me the solution!!
