• Execute a PyQt app from an acpi event in linux

  Hi, I want to use a PyQt application to display an image when some acpi event is triggered under linux. I already setting up the configuration for the event and the python scrip is executed when the event is triggered, but when program reach the creation of the QApplication app = QApplication(sys.argv) it stops without error. I tried setting up the same DISPLAY and PATH environment variables as my current user but it doesn't work. This is my event file: event=sony/hotkey SNC 00000001 00000011 action=/etc/acpi/vaio-tools/brightness/sonybright.sh up 2>&1>/tmp/vaio-tools_brightness.log I tried to find some error in the /tmp/vaio-tools_brightness.log but it doesn't log anything after it reach the QApp creation in code. any hints??

I understand timeToIdleSeconds But does it means that after the creation & first access of a cache item, the timeToLiveSeconds is not applicable anymore ?

  I want to be able to search through a MySQL table using values from a search string, from the url and display the results as an XML output. I think I have got the formatting and declaring the variables from the search string down. The issue I have is searching the entire table, I've looked over SO for previous answers, and they all seem to have to declare each column in the table to search through. • Django 1.5 custom User model error. "Manager isn't available; User has been swapped"

  I extend the django user model as described in the dev doc. I wan't to keep most of the original User model features so I extend the AbstractUser class. I've defined in settings.py: AUTH_USER_MODEL = 'myapp.CustomUser' My user class: class CustomUser(AbstractUser): custom_field = models.ForeignKey('OtherModel') objects = UserManager() Everything seems to work fine but when I try to make it managed by the admin site: admin.site.register(CustomUser, UserAdmin) I get this error on the admin CustomUser creation page (after validation of the password confirmation form): AttributeError: Manager isn't available; User has been swapped for 'myapp.CustomUser' The point is that I need this model managed by the admin site in order to have the same creation process as with the original User model (two step process with password validation). • Hibernate: how to maintain insertion order

  I have a list of entities where creation order is important, but they do not contain a timestamp to use for sorting. Entities are added to the end of the list as they are created so they will be ordered correctly in the list itself. After persisting the list using Hibernate the entities appear in the database table in the order that they were created. However when retrieving the list using a new Hibernate session the list is now in reverse order of insertion/creation. Is this expected behaviour? Is there any way to retrieve the list in the same order as it appears in the table? The primary key is a UUID, and the list of entities should always have been created on the same IP address and JVM. This mean sorting by UUID is a possibility but I'd rather not make assumptions. Another possibility is if the list is guaranteed to always come out in reverse order I could always just work through it backwards.

  I'm new to learning Windows Programming with C#. My current assignment is to create a very simple bank account program: The user enters the accountholder name, account number and beginning balance, then presses a "Continue" button to work with that account by making deposits and withdrawals. I wrote a separate "BankAccount" class with the required data members and methods. I've put the code for the creation of the BankAccount object in the Continue button click event BankAccount currentAccount = new BankAccount(acctName, acctNum, beginningBalance); But that seems to make it local to that method only, and currentAccount is not recognized when I'm programming the click event for the "Record Transactions" (deposits and withdrawals) button. How and where should the creation of the BankAccount object be coded in order for it to be created when the "Continue" button is clicked and also recognized in the "Record Transactions" button click event? Please let me know if any clarification is needed, or if you need to see part or all of my code.

  I have a graph that starts off with a single, root node. Nodes are added one by one to the graph. At node creation time, they have to be linked either to the root node, or to another node, by a single edge. Edges can also be created and deleted (one by one, between any two nodes). Nodes can be deleted one at a time. Node and edge creation, deletion operations can happen in any arbitrary order. OK, so here's my question: When an edge is deleted, is it possible do determine, in constant time (i.e. with an O(1) algorithm), if doing this will divide the graph into two disjoint subgraphs? If it will, then which side of the edge will the root node belong? I'm willing to maintain, within reasonable limits, any additional data structure that can facilitate the derivation of this information. Maybe it is not possible to do it in O(1), if so any pointers to literature will be appreciated.

  I am using code first approach in a ASP.NET MVC 3 application and all integer primary keys in models (public int Id { get; set; }) are by default configured as an identity with auto-incrementing. How to disable this and enable a way to manually enter the integer for the primary key? The actual situation is that the Id integers have a special meaning and I would therefore like to have them choosable at creation and later editable. It would be ideal if in case the integer is not given at creation time it is auto-incremented, else the specified value is used. But editable primary fields is my primary need. Is there any way to do this elegantly in ASP.NET MVC 3?

  I know I wouldn't need this with Typemock, however, with something like MoQ , I need to use the adapter pattern to enable the creation of mocks via interfaces for code I don't control. For example, TcpClient is a .NET class, so I use adapter pattern to enable mocking of this object, b/c I need an interface of that class. I then produce interface ITcpClient, that can then be implemented via a TcpClientAdapter class, which is just plain vanilla adapter pattern implementation. I am looking for a tool to do this automatically (creation of interface and adapter), I would think there is one out there somewhere? (or is everyone just hand coding these)

  Hi, In JSF 1.1, I am assuming that GET requests are treated as initial requests (resulting in the creation of a new view), and POST requests are treated as Postbacks (resulting in the restoration of the old view). However, my application is behaving differently - it restores the same old view even for GET requests. Why does this happen? Is there a way to force the creation of a new view for GET requests? • How should I mock out my data connectivity

  I'm trying to unit test my Data Access Layer and I'm in the process of trying to mock my data connectivity to unit test my DAL and I'm coming unstuck trying to mock out the creation of the commands. I thought about using a queue of IDbParameters for the creation of the parameters, but the unit tests then require that the parameters are configured in the right order. I'm using MOQ and having looked around for some documentation to walk me through this, I'm finding lots of recommendation not to do this, but to write a wrapper for the connection, but it's my contention that my DAL is supposed to be the wrapper for my database and I don't feel I should be writing wrappers... if I do, how do I unit test the connectivity to the database for my wrapper? By writing another wrapper? It seems like it's turtles all the way down. So does anyone have any recommendations or tutorials regarding this particular area of unit testing/mocking?

• NetBeans/C++ - how to choose the "main file" other than when creating a project?

  Hello, when I am creating a C++ project in NetBeans, there is a toggle button "Create main file" - I just enter a name for it and that's all. The problem is that I cannot put that file in a "different" folder than right in the main project folder. And I am "used" to put all the source files in a "src" folder (and its subfolders), but at the "project creation time" I "cannot" put the main file there. So I tried "not" to create the main file at project creation, but after that create manually the "src" file and then create a "cpp" file in that folder (this is "allowed" in NetBeans). But NetBeans could not find "which" is the main file. So how can I choose the main file other than when creating a project (if it is possible)?

• Degraded RAID5 and no md superblock on one of remaining drive

  This is actually on a QNAP TS-509 NAS. The RAID is basically a Linux RAID. The NAS was configured with RAID 5 with 5 drives (/md0 with /dev/sd[abcde]3). At some point, /dev/sde failed and drive was replaced. While rebuilding (and not completed), the NAS rebooted itself and /dev/sdc dropped out of the array. Now the array can't start because essentially 2 drives have dropped out. I disconnected /dev/sde and hoped that /md0 can resume in degraded mode, but no luck.. Further investigation shows that /dev/sdc3 has no md superblock. The data should be good since the array was unable to assemble after /dev/sdc dropped off. All the searches I done showed how to reassemble the array assuming 1 bad drive. But I think I just need to restore the superblock on /dev/sdc3 and that should bring the array up to a degraded mode which will allow me to backup data and then proceed with rebuilding with adding /dev/sde.   I am not sure where to ask advices about career development, so I am sorry if I am wrong. My question is what is better for me to learn, Win 8 and metro style applications or try to focus on some 3d engine, like Unity 3d? On the one hand I`ve got enought experience in c# and programming for business applications (WinForms and WPF), on the other hand I was always been fasinated by the creation of computer games and have strong math background. Which is better in terms of my career and new job opportunities?
