• Shipping Java code with data baked into the .jar

  I need to ship some Java code that has an associated set of data. It's a simulator for a device, and I want to be able to include all of the data used for the simulated records in the one .JAR file. In this case, each simulated record contains four fields (calling party, called party, start of call, call duration). What's the best way to do that? I've gone down the path of generating the data as Java statements, but IntelliJ doesn't seem particularly happy dealing with a 100,000 line Java source file! Is there a smarter way to do this? In the C#/.NET world I'd create the data as a separate file, embed it in the assembly as a resource, and then use reflection to pull that out at runtime and access it. I'm unsure of what the appropriate analogy is in the Java world. FWIW, Java 1.6, shipping for Solaris.

  Hello All: I am creating a web application using Asp.net dynamic data. I am using GridView to show data from the database. In the grid view I am having following code for columns <Columns> <asp:DynamicField DataField="UserId" UIHint="Label" /> <asp:DynamicField DataField="Address" UIHint="Address"/> <asp:DynamicField DataField="CreatedDate" UIHint="Label" /> </Columns> But, before displaying I want to do some processing in C# code for each row. In normal ASP.net grid view we can handle OnRowDataBound method, and using FindControl("controlid") we can get the control instance, but in case of dynamic data, I am not getting any id attribute for columns, so I am not able to get the control instance to show updated data in that control depending on some conditions.   I have a UIView called goalBar which is being animated by increasing the size of the frame according to a float value called destination: CGRect goalBarRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, destination, 29); [UIView beginAnimations:@"goal" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseIn]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:2.0f]; goalBar.frame = goalBarRect; [UIView commitAnimations]; The animation works perfectly and the rectangular view increases its width over the course of the animation (from 0 to the value for destination). However, I wish to be able to extract the values for the frame of the UIView being animated (i.e. goalBar) as the animation takes place. By that I mean that I wish to place the value of the width for the animated frame in a separate UILabel so that the user sees a counter that provides the width of the UIView as it's being animated. Any help on how to do the above would be gratefully received.

  Hello, I'm using Data Pump to export/import data, one requirement is to import data to a sql file. The OS is window. I made the follow export : expdp system/password directory=dpump_dir dumpfile=tablesdump.dmp content=DATA_ONLY tables=user.tablename and it works, I can see the file TABLESDUMP.DMP in the directory path. then when I tried to import it to a sql file: impdp system/password directory=dpump_dir dumpfile=tablesdump.dmp sqlfile=tables_export.sql the log show : ..... ORA-31655 no data or metadata objects selected for job ..... and the sql file is created empty in the directory path. I'm not DBA, I'm a Java developer , Can you help me? Thks

It will be really cool if I can visualize the predicted objects data, if it's possible generating 3D images, if in video that's amazing. Do you know any library that lets me to use this data to generate an image or video? • Using MySQL as data source in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services

  Hi, I have installed the latest .net connector (http://www.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/), I can add MySQL databases as Data Sources, I can even browse through the data from Business Intelligence Studio. The problem is that I CANNOT create a datasource view, or if I do create one without tables, trying to add them after the fact gives me the same error. Specifically it looks like the data source view wizard tries to submit queries against the MySQL database using square brackets/braces, and the query bombs. I get an error message like: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '[my_db].[cheatType]' at line 2 So, in summary, has anyone been able to create a data source view using MySQL tables and, if so, can they please show me how this can be done. • Flex 3: should I provide prepared data to my component or make it to process data before display?

  I'm starting to learn a little Flex just for fun and maybe to prove that I still can learn something new :) I have some idea for a project and one of its parts is a tree component which could display data in different ways depending on configuration. The idea There is list of objects having properties like id, date, time, name, description. And sometimes list should be displayed like this: first level: date second level: time third level: name and sometimes like this: first level: year second level: month third level: day fourth level: time and name By level I mean level of nesting of course. So, we can have years, that have months, that have days, that have hours and so forth. The problem What could be the best way to do it? I mean, should I prepare data for different ways of nesting outside of component or even outside of flex? I can do it at web service level in C# where I plan to have database access layer and send to flex nice and ready to display XML or array of objects. But I wonder if that won't cause additional and maybe unneccessary network traffic. I tried to hack some code in my component to convert my data objects into XML or ArrayCollection but I don't know enough of Flex and got stuck on elimination of duplicates or getting specific data by some key value. Usually to do such things I have STL with maps, sets and vectors and I find Flex arrays and even Dictionary a little bit confusing (I've read language reference and googled without any significant luck). The question So, to sum things up: should I give my tree component data prepared just for chosen type of display or should I try to do it internally inside component (or some helper class written in ActionScript)?

• MS Access 2003 - Option Group frame: can I add text boxes that are part of the frame instead of rad

  Ok so this maybe a simple/silly question but I don't know so here goes: In access let's say I want to have a frame control, so I click the option group button and add it to the desgin surface. However, I am not wanting to use this as a option group with radio button selection, instead I would like to add text boxes instead the frame, so that when I reference the frame, it references every control instead of it, hence the text boxes, cbo boxes, etc.....just as it would if they were radio option selections. So can you do this? I want whatever controls I add inside the frame to be easily referenced (i.e. make all controls visible just by using frameExample.visible = true) so that I can build my own tab control groupings..... can this be done? Thanks! EDIT: What I am trying to accomplish is having a form that includes a collection of controls (input controls - cbo boxes, text boxes, etc), that serve as the Main record information. These are saved to a table via an INSERT statement on button_click because this form is unbound. Next I have 8 categories that are relative per each main record (and data that goes along with it). Each of these categories could have a sub form area and a button click that bring it's relative form into the sub form area. These sub forms would be unbound as well as I would just save data via SQL statement. So i know I could accomplish this by running the insert statement from the parent form, on the main collection control's data that would create the KeyID number, then run a SQL statement that would turn around and load that KeyID number right back onto the page in a hidden text box. Then when I click one of the sub forms and load its relative collection of controls, I could then save that data along with KeyID for each of these sub-forms/tables. SO...... I was wondering if instead you could define these controls as a collection so that you could hide and make visible all the ones you need on button clicks and avoid the need for additional forms (subs). I know that if a user enters data into a text box, and then somewhere along the way that box becomes hidden, the data still exists in it and still ends up in the SQL statement.... So I want all these controls to exist on the same form, but I thought what is I could encapsulate them into a frame like an option group, then I could call the frame and all the relative controls would be called up (made visible) as needed. Sorry for the long explanation but I thought it would help.

  I would like to know more about the relevant skills in the arsenal of a Data Scientist, and with new technologies coming in every day, how one picks and chooses the essentials. A few ideas germane to this discussion: Knowing SQL and the use of a DB such as MySQL, PostgreSQL was great till the advent of NoSql and non-relational databases. MongoDB, CouchDB etc. are becoming popular to work with web-scale data. Knowing a stats tool like R is enough for analysis, but to create applications one may need to add Java, Python, and such others to the list. Data now comes in the form of text, urls, multi-media to name a few, and there are different paradigms associated with their manipulation. What about cluster computing, parallel computing, the cloud, Amazon EC2, Hadoop ? OLS Regression now has Artificial Neural Networks, Random Forests and other relatively exotic machine learning/data mining algos. for company Thoughts?

• wx Menu disappears from frame when shown as a popup

  I'm trying to create a wx.Menu that will be shared between a popup (called on right-click), and a sub menu accessible from the frame menubar. The following code demonstrates the problem. If you open the "MENUsubmenu" from the menubar the item "asdf" is visible. If you right click on the frame content area, "asdf" will be visible from there as well... however, returning to the menubar, you will find that "MENUsubmenu" is vacant. • SQL Server: export data via SQL query?

  I have FK and PK all over my db and table data needs to be specified in a certain order or else I get FK/PK insertion errors. I'm tired of executing the wizard again and again to transfer data one table at a time. In the SQL Server export data wizard there is an option to "Write a query to specify the data to transfer". I'd like to write the query myself and specify the correct order. Will this solve my problem? How do I do this? Can you provide a sample query (or link to one) The databases are on two different servers - SQL Server 2008 on each ; The database names & permissions are the same ; each table name & col is the same ; I need Identity Insert for each table.

• Producer Consumer Issue with Core Data

  I've a Core Data application. In the producer thread, I pull data from a web service and store it in my object and call save. My consumer object is a table view controller that displays the same. However, the app crashes and I get NSFetchedResultsController Error: expected to find object (entity: FeedEntry; id: 0xf46f40 ; data: ) in section (null) for deletion on the console. When I debug it, everything works fine. So I understood that it's like a race issue. How is these kind of problem solved? What's the best way to design a producer-consumer app with core-data?

• What data structures and algorithms are applied within data warehouse cubes?

  I understand that cubes are optimized data structures for aggregating and "slicing" large amounts of data. I just don't know how they are implemented. I can imagine a lot of this technology is proprietary, but are there any resources that I could use to start implementing my own cube technology? • How do I get the value of a DynamicControl?

  I'm using ASP.NET Dynamic Data functionality to do something a little weird. Namely, create a dynamic list of fields as children of the main object. So basically I have Ticket.Fields. The main page lists all the fields for Ticket, and the Fields property has a DynamicControl that generates a list of controls to collect more data. The tricky part is that this list ALSO uses Dynamic Data to generate the controls, so each field can be any of the defined FieldTemplates... meaning I don't necessarily know what the actual data control will be when I try to get the value. So, how do I get the value of a DynamicControl? Do I need to create a new subclass of FieldTemplate that provides a means to get at the value?

  The topic of algorithms class today was reimplementing data structures, specifically ArrayList in Java. The fact that you can customize a structure for in various ways definitely got me interested, particularly with variations of add() & iterator.remove() methods. But is reimplementing and customizing a data structure something that is of more interest to the academics vs the real-world programmers? Has anyone reimplemented their own version of a data structure in a commercial application/program, and why did you pick that route over your particular language's implementation?

  I am using the code below which is fine but when I use the code below that in an attempt to send an html fragment to a processing page to save it as a file but I get nothing. I have tried using ajax with processData set to false ads dataTypes of html, text and xml but nothing works. I can't find anything on this so I guess I must be missing something fairly trivial but I've been at it for 3 hours now. • WebKit and Opera won't load from this server when it's in a frame

  This site loads fine in Firefox, but in WebKit browsers (Safari and Google Chrome) it won't load the frame, and in Opera I get this error: "The Web site does not permit its content to be displayed in a frame. It must be displayed in a separate window.". I don't expect to be able to actually fix this, as I don't have control over the frames page (only the content of the frame), but my question is: why? The content of the frame loads fine by itself, and saving the frames page and changing the src of the frame to http://w3.org/ loads fine. I did a bit of searching based on the Opera error, and it seemed to suggest it had to do with redirecting. That URL does indeed redirect, but if I change it to http://mini.milli.no/tonje/main (which doesn't redirect), it still doesn't work. Even Apache directory listings don't work - which to me suggests it's server related. But how can a server do that? To be total clear, I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.3, and I tested with Safari 4.0.5, Chrome 5.0.375.55, Opera 10.53, and Firefox 3.6.3. Basically, the newest of all of those things currently.

• Core Data Null Relationship

  I have a to-one relationship in my data model with Core Data. I'm trying to set the value of the relationship but Core Data keeps thinking that it's nil. The "creatorUser" relationship is not optional, so when I go to save my managed object context, Core Data gives errors because it thinks the "creatorUser" is nil. Any help would be greatly advised.
