  • Exchange backup size larger then file size

    My backupexec is setup to integrate with exchange, to backup the information store, versus just backing up the data file path. My exchange mdbdata folder is 17 gigs. But my backup exec is backing up 40 gigs worth of data. I have gone through it a million times, and it's strictly backing up exchange information store. I deleted all my backups and started over, to clear the incremental backup old data. Where is all this extra data coming from?

  • Delete the pendive contents and also trash in mac?

    I am using mac pro.I copied some data from my pen drive to my mac and i deleted the content by moving it to trash.After that when i see the info of pen drive it give more value than the original value.If i cleaned the content of the trash only i am able to see the correct value of pen drive and able to copy data. Is mac has been designed like that or is there any other way to delete other than using "move to trash" option? Thanks.

  • Windows 7 120 GB disc drive C full

    I have windows 7 and my disc drive has a capacity of 120 GB. From one day to another it tells me that my disc C is full in a red bar but I dont have many programs installed. I deleted all of my videos, games, music, pictures, etc and I was able to free up 30 GB. I ran the disk cleaner and emptied the TEMP folder and garbage can but it still shows a 70GB used. Can I get some help from the experts PLEASE!!!

  • SSD has 32-bit Win 7 Ult.; partition now both unformattable and undeletable.

    Drive 0, Partition 1 can't be deleted or formatted, at least by using the HD drive bay and attempting a delete or format with the 32-bit Win 7 CD. Most of my data is still on it and available for read/write (where the drive isn't occasionally pocked with "unrecoverable" or "corrupted" files). I've just never heard of a condition where the HD cannot be formattable. I now just have a very expensive backup drive that's got Swiss cheesed areas. The thing doesn't accept a Windows 7 repair or reinstall either.

    After uninstalling Symantec Enpoint Protection (manually) one computer (Windows XP) has an inoperative NIC; it shows up in device manager as conflicted. I tried doing a windows repair from CD, which did not improve the situation. When I went to reinstall the drivers, driver installation failed with: Cannot install this hardware The system cannot find the file specified I've deleted the NIC in device manager without improvement.

  • win7 64 bit. Fresh install on fresh pc fails with BSOD.

    Hello, I've built a new machine: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 (2x 2gb) Amd Athlon II X4 630 Box AM3 I tried memtest with hiren boot cd (tested only 3gb) and showed no error. Then I tried the built in ram test from the win7 cd (2 passes no errors). I also deleted with a 0 pass the hard drive. The error I get is this: 0x0000007e (0xFFFFFFFFFC0000005,0xFFFFF8000C1AB0F3,0xFFFFF880009A8498,0xFFFFF880009A7CF0) Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi, I am using Ubutu 10.04. I have some apps that create a few temporary files in /tmp/<file> as part of their shutdown process. I want to inspect those files when the apps are closed in the event of a system shutdown. However, when the system comes up again I find that all temporary files have been deleted. How can I ask the system not to clear the files in /tmp/ on shutdown?

    I deleted a Public Queue from my local box this morning and then went to recreate the queue. When I go to recreate it I get the message: Error: A queue with the same path name already exists From research it appears that the queue gets replicated in the AD and sometimes it doesn't delete. So now the AD admin has to delete this for me, but they don't seem to understand. So how can I get past this error?

    I'm deploying a .jar file to a tomcat instance (we're running 6.0.18 on Redhat linux) and according to the log output the old .jar is still being used. I've restarted everthing I can think of, have deleted the work directory etc.etc. but to no avail. I'm no tomcat expert, so here's my question: where should I look for to ascertain if tomcat is using a cached jar and how should I prevent it from doing so?

  • Skype status showing always online

    Skype has recently started showing my online status as constantly "online" even after I have been inactive for longer than the configured time period of 5 minutes. Things that I have tried: Reinstalling Skype on all PCs Disabling all Skype Extras I use the same skype account on my desktop, laptop, and Iphone. Any ideas on why my skype status may be stuck or any other suggestions to help resolve this? UPDATE: I deleted config.xml from %APPDATA%/gdalgas in an attempt to resolve this which didn't help.

  • Virtual Machine Library not updating

    Hi, I have a problem with my library window. I use to have a XP VM, which I deleted and now have a Vista VM. Every time I start Fusion, the XP VM shortcut will still be in the library (File not found), and the Vista VM won't be. I have tried re-installing Fusion but the same XP shortcut keeps coming up. Fusion doesn't seem to be updating the list of VM I currently have for some reason. Any ideas? Lots of thanks Jeremy

  • EMC/Legato/Networker Failed to recover files : Cross Platform Recovery not supported.

    Software used to backup: EMC / Legato Networker legato server : windows legato clients: same hardware (2 years ago fedora something , now ubuntu ) Trying to recover from an old client, which is no longer available. So this is the thing. On 07/20/2008 we backed up a samba server(fedora something) to a tape , setting 1 year as browse policy and retention policy. Now this tape is recyclable. We took down the dns name. We deleted the legato client configuration. That legato client was reinstalled and is doing other stuff on ubuntu 10.04, with a different name but same ip. Now, 2 years and some month later #### Now we need to recover a folder from 2008 backup, on the fedora-samba-server. First thing, legato does not show the client name because the config was deleted. We create it again. We just set the old dns back on track, pointing the same ip, where the old server was, same MAC address ;). We created a new 'old client configuration' pointing to the new server. (different legato ip for client "I suppose" ) The ssid where the needed folder is on 2 tapes, 20 and 22. The index for that backup is on tape 21. We put this tapes on the jukebox (IBMT4000) -- not important for the issue -- All three tapes expired its browsable and recoverable time. So they are on recyclable. We get the clone id from the ssid with following command: mminfo -avot -q "ssid=<ssid>" -r cloneid We set the tapes to notrecyclable nsrmm -S <ssid>/<cloneid> -o notrecyclable We change the retention for the tapes for a future date nsrmm -S <ssid> -e 01/20/2011 We check the dates are correct : mminf -avV -q "ssid=<ssid>" -r ssbrowse(26),ssretent(26),savetime So far its OK. We close the terminal. Restart the server, just for being sure. Finally, we recover the index for that ssid where the folder should be. nsrck -L7 -t "07/20/2008" oldservername.domain.org There, we open the Networker User, select the server, select the old client as source, select the new client as destination.   • DFS "clobering" files

    We have DFS setup using the DFS Management Administrator Tool. I turned on replication in the Distributed File System Administrator Tool as well and this morning we lost tons of files from that share. Please explain to me why this was wrong and if there is anything that can be done to repair it. (No, we don't have backups. We have some shadow copies, but those were deleted as well. We have been using DFS as its own backup)

    Hi, Because I am using one of the new WD disks I am trying to aling my root partition with the real sectors, as described here: http://community.wdc.com/t5/Desktop/Problem-with-WD-Advanced-Format-drive-in-LINUX-WD15EARS/m-p/10920#M631 So I copied all files to a temp location, deleted my partition (/dev/sda3), recreated it a few cylinders later (same name) and copied the files to the newly created partition. But now when I try to boot, I get my old grub menu but after selecting my kernel version it hangs... Any idea how I can fix it?

  • How do I change a VMWare 1.x server's guest boot order?

    I have 4 VMs on a Linux host, call them A, B, C, D running on Z. I really don't care when A and B come up, but I would like to make sure that D comes up before C. I believe that in VMWare 2.x it's possible to change the boot order. Is this possible in 1.x as well? Is this done in /etc/vmware/vm-list? I see that there are a number of VMs listed there, including some that have long since been deleted.

  • Photoshop CS6 - spacebar shortcut for hand tool has stopped working

    In Photoshop CS6, the default behavior of depressing the spacebar as a shortcut for the Hand tool was working as expected, then stopped for no apparent reason. I have rebooted, closed browsers, shut down all other applications and deleted preferences and the problem persists. The spacebar works properly elsewhere, including Photoshop CS4. Is there a keyboard shortcut setting I'm missing (I've checked Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts and can find nothing for the spacebar, and can not add it to the Hand tool). This is on OSX Lion 10.7.4
