  • Dell monitor not detected (Ubuntu 11.10)

    I have an issue with my monitor. I just installed Ubuntu 11.10, but the monitor that is plugged in doesn't appear anywhere. And by doesn't appear, I mean that in the "Displays" menu, it doesn't even appear as "Unknown", I just have my screen that appears and nothing else. It is connected through VGA, and the monitor is recognized with no problem on Windows 7. It is a Dell monitor. I'm not a pro with Ubuntu, so any help to diagnose the issue would be really helpful (and help me learn how to fix this kind of monitor issue in the future) Thanks !

    Possible Duplicate: I need an open source php social script, minus the social features I am looking for a web script in which users can register and create a simple profile page; something like a CV. When users log in they will be able to fill out a simple form with details like name, dob, etc. and it displays in a simple fashion on the profile page like domain.com/username Is there any simple script available for this maybe free or open sourced? An example is prairie identity server (openID). I need something similar but more customizable.

  • Dual display setup - only one displayed after logon

    During boot process my desktop shows both Monitors, but after log I only get one. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 When I go into Displays its still only shows on Monitor.   • Unity Gone, have tried everything 12.04

    Hello I have checked a few forums and tried much of the advice given, however nothing has worked so far. I dont know how it happened but when I boot up, I get the login screen to select user and once I select my user and input pw my screen displays my background inage but never loads cairo dock or the unity sidebar. I have tried unity --reset from tty1 and get asked if im actually trying to do a reset from a tty. I have also tried ctrl+ alt + T after logging in to get a terminal and tried to open ccsm to restart unity from there and that has not worked either. Any ideas?.....Thank You in advance for any help you can offer. Darrin

  • Is there any simple C++ code to grab video from UVC webcam and display it simultaneously?

    I'm very very new to Linux and programming! I'm using ubuntu 11.10 - 64 bits with gcc 4.6.1 I've been searching online for an example C++ code that simply grabs video from a compliant UVC webcam and displays it simultaneously.. I need to compile it on gcc. In OpenCV, it's a very simple code less than 20 lines as I remember! I found this: http://v4l2spec.bytesex.org/spec/capture-example.html But it's very huge code relative to OpenCV code ?! and even when I tried to compile it using gcc.. I got many errors! I copied the code into a cpp file: cap.cpp then wrote in the terminal: gcc cap.cpp -o cap and the errors showed up... same errors with g++ I hope if someone can help me and tell me where can I find another simpler code? and how can I test it ?     Running Lucid. Computer worked fine last night, went to bed and found the following problem this morning: (so no hard or software changes) Computer boots up, screen displays normally; date & time correct, background normal, toolbars OK, everything looks normal. Cursor moves round screen in the traditional manner but clicking produces nothing, not left, right or centre. Nothing will open. Tried restarting, using different USB ports and a different mouse. Have reduced system to minimum; monitor keyboard mouse only. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance, David D

  • Asus 101mt Resolution change

    I've been looking for a fix, but no luck. my Asus 101mt has a maximum resolution of 1024x768, but I cannot select this in "Displays" since it is not an option. I have added this resolution before, but now I can't seem to find the same information. I just did a clean install with 12.04. I am also dual booting with Win 7. I am really a newb when it comes to Linux. I'm only now starting to see the light! Any help would be appreciated!

  • PHP error log does not display script names nor does it display the errors' line numbers [migrated]

    I think the title is self-explanatory, and my Google-fu isn't bringing up anything useful. I'm working on a new host, and my php error log only displays the error itself, not which script is the offender, nor which line number the error is occurring on. Makes it a tad difficult to debug, especially since there's only 1 error in the script. More info: I'm not using a custom error handler that I'm aware of. This is a standard Wordpress install. The error was [27-Aug-2012 19:22:36 UTC] PHP NOTICE: Trying to get property of non-object. Just no script name or line number in the error I found that Wordpress' error logging contained the information to debug the problem, but that doesn't explain why the log didn't contain line number or script.

  • Lock file/content while being edited in browser. [migrated]

    In one of my projects users are allowed to edit the same file. It is group work and max number of users in group is 4. It is rare that they will be editing at the same time but there is possibility of it. I am using ckeditor which displays the content. how I can lock the content while it is being edited? For the above case what will happen if one users open the content for editing and then never saves and leave window open. Is it possible to save the content, release the lock for editing by another users? If first user comes back to desk they should see the message that "content has been changed, please refresh". I am using php, mysql. Thanks

  • ubuntu 12.04 cannot login

    I am using Ubuntu 12.04. I cannot login. I get to the grub menu and go root, delete my /home/user/.Xauthority file and change my password. I move /home/user/.profile to /home/user/profile, reboot, and I can login (this is fixed by moving .profile to some other name). But if I am idle and Ubuntu displays the screensaver, I cannot login. I have pressed Ctrl+Alt+F1 and removed /home/user/.Xauthority. I check the existence of /home/user/.profile and it does not exist. There is no way for me to login to X from the keyboard connected to the box. I can ssh -CXY to the ubuntu box and login without any problem. Can someone help me fix this problem?

    Right now I have a RadToolTip inside of a RadGrid. The RadGrid displays a field from the datasource called "Value". The RadToolTip displays the same thing. I want to add another RadGrid inside of the RadToolTip. The function setting up the datasource of that second RadGrid should take "Value" as a parameter? How do I do that?     I would like to find a replacement for list.com, specifically the ability to accept piped input. For example: p4 sync -n | list which accepts the output of the perforce command and displays the results in the viewer/editor for manipulation or saving. I know that I would send the output to a file and then open the file in the viewer/editor but I use it for temporary results. List.com doesn't work on 64 bit Windows 7.

    I realized that IE8 does not allow links from cross domains to be displayed in IFrame. It seems like there are only two Header options that Microsoft allows to modify. X-FRAME-OPTIONS : "DENY" (This does not display any IFrame content ) X-FRAME-OPTIONS : "SAMEORIGIN" (Displays content from the same domain) Is there a work around to allow content from other domains to be displayed?
