  • Specifying formatting for csv.writer in Python

    - by user248237
I am using csv.DictWriter to output csv files from a set of dictionaries. I use the following function: def dictlist2file(dictrows, filename, fieldnames, delimiter='\t', lineterminator='\n'): out_f = open(filename, 'w') # Write out header header = delimiter.join(fieldnames) + lineterminator out_f.write(header) # Write out dictionary data = csv.DictWriter(out_f, fieldnames, delimiter=delimiter, lineterminator=lineterminator) data.writerows(dictrows) out_f.close() where dictrows is a list of dictionaries, and fieldnames provides the headers that should be serialized to file. Some of the values in my dictionary list (dictrows) are numeric -- e.g. floats, and I'd like to specify the formatting of these. For example, I might want floats to be serialized with "%.2f" rather than full precision. Ideally, I'd like to specify some kind of mapping that says how to format each type, e.g. {float: "%.2f"} that says that if you see a float, format it with %.2f. Is there an easy way to do this? I don't want to subclass DictWriter or anything complicated like that -- this seems like very generic functionality. How can this be done? The only other solution I can think of is: instead of messing with the formatting of DictWriter, just use the decimal package to specify the decimal precision of floats to be %.2 which will cause to be serialized as such. Don't know if this is a better solution? thanks very much for your help.

  • Parse a xml attribute depending on child content

    - by eddiefernberg
Hello! I load an external xml file containing user metas looking like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <user_information> <user url="http://usersweb.com"> <name>Arnold</name> <lastname> <name>Arnoldson</name> </lastname> <age>42</age> </user> <user url="http://anotheruserweb.com"> <name>Arnold</name> <lastname> <name>Arichson</name> </lastname> <age>42</age> </user> And so on.... </user_information> I know the formatting with <lastname> is really stupid, but i can't modify the source. I want to load in the "url"-attribute from <user> , but only if <name> and <lastname> matches the name values i have stored in my own user database. I know how to parse the rest of it with PHP, but just the matching sequence seems difficult to me. Any help appreciated!

  • Java library for HTML analysis

    - by Raj
Hi, (I've seen similar questions, but I think none of them cater to my specific needs, hence...) I would like to know if there is a Java library for analysis of real-world (read: incomplete, ill-formed) HTML. By analysis, I mean things like: figuring out the most prominent color in an HTML chunk changing that color to some other color (hence, has to support modification of the HTML as well) pruning out unwanted tags fixing up the HTML to result in a well formed HTML snippet Parts of the last two are done by libraries such as Jericho, and jTidy. 'Plugins' on top of these would be great. Thanks in advance!

  • regex to parse a iCalendar file in ActionScript

    - by Mac Fly
Hello, I use a library to parse an iCalendar file, but I don't understand the regex to split property. iCalendar property has 3 different style: BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20080402 RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;WKST=MO The library uses this regex that I would like to understand: var matches:Array = data.match(/(.+?)(;(.*?)=(.*?)((,(.*?)=(.*?))*?))?:(.*)$/); p.name = matches[1]; p.value = matches[9]; p.paramString = matches[2]; Thanks.

  • Java HTML parser/validator

    - by at
We allow people to enter HTML code on our wiki-like site. But only a limited subset of HTML to not affect our styling and not allow malicious javascript code. Is there a good Java library on the server side to ensure that the code entered is valid? We tried creating an XML Schema document to validate against. The only issue there is the libraries we used to validate gave back cryptic error messages. What I want is for the validation library to actually fix the issue (if there was a style="" attribute added to an element, remove it). If fixing it is not easy, at least allow me to report a message to the user with the location of the error (an error code that I can present a nice message from is fine, probably even preferable).

  • How to write the Visitor Pattern for Abstract Syntax Tree in Python?

    - by bodacydo
My collegue suggested me to write a visitor pattern to navigate the AST. Can anyone tell me more how would I start writing it? As far as I understand, each Node in AST would have visit() method (?) that would somehow get called (from where?). That about concludes my understanding. To simplify everything, suppose I have nodes Root, Expression, Number, Op and the tree looks like this: Root | Op(+) / \ / \ Number(5) \ Op(*) / \ / \ / \ Number(2) Number(444) Can anyone think of how the visitor pattern would visit this tree to produce output: 5 + 2 * 444 Thanks, Boda Cydo.

  • how to parse jquery ajax xhtml response?

    - by steve
Sorry if this has been posted many times. But I've tried many variations and it still doesn't work. The HTML comes back from the jquery AJAX call fine and I am trying to remove the header and footers from the response using: // none of these work for me $("#content", data); $("#content", $(data)); $(data).find("#content").html() I've breakpoint the response to verify the #content exists by inspected $(data) and using alert to print out the data's text. I've also try using "body" or "a" as selectors, but it always come back as undefined. I've read in this post that you can't pull in the full XHTML document: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1050333/jquery-ajax-parse-response-text. But I can't find the answer's quote anymore, maybe it's outdated? Has anyone ran into this problem? Many thanks, Steve

  • AndEngine Physics Editor loading level

    - by Khawar Raza
    I have created a .pes file using PhysicsEditor and imported as xml and have added to my project. When I parsed it and created bodies, it is showing strange behavior. The mapping of bodies that I created in PhysicsEditor is totally different what I see in my application means the shapes I draw in PhysicsEditor are rendering differently in my app. Here is my xml and code to parse and add bodies to scene. PhysicsEditor XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!-- created with http://www.physicseditor.de --> <bodydef version="1.0"> <bodies numBodies="1"> <body name="car_path" dynamic="false" numFixtures="1"> <fixture density="2" friction="1" restitution="0" filter_categoryBits="1" filter_groupIndex="0" filter_maskBits="65535" isSensor="false" type="POLYGON" numPolygons="20" > <polygon numVertexes="6"> <vertex x="277.0000" y="152.0000" /> <vertex x="356.0000" y="172.0000" /> <vertex x="413.0000" y="194.0000" /> <vertex x="476.0000" y="223.0000" /> <vertex x="173.0000" y="232.0000" /> <vertex x="174.0000" y="148.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="4"> <vertex x="1556.0000" y="221.0000" /> <vertex x="1142.0000" y="94.0000" /> <vertex x="1255.0000" y="-15.0000" /> <vertex x="1554.0000" y="-14.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="-192.0000" y="177.0000" /> <vertex x="-888.0000" y="139.0000" /> <vertex x="-549.0000" y="-125.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="6"> <vertex x="1762.0000" y="24.0000" /> <vertex x="1862.0000" y="27.0000" /> <vertex x="1927.0000" y="68.0000" /> <vertex x="2078.0000" y="222.0000" /> <vertex x="1643.0000" y="212.0000" /> <vertex x="1642.0000" y="38.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="-1150.0000" y="146.0000" /> <vertex x="-1776.0000" y="140.0000" /> <vertex x="-1476.0000" y="-25.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="4"> <vertex x="-2799.0000" y="103.0000" /> <vertex x="-2684.0000" y="223.0000" /> <vertex x="-3112.0000" y="256.0000" /> <vertex x="-3108.0000" y="98.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="3112.0000" y="255.0000" /> <vertex x="2422.0000" y="222.0000" /> <vertex x="3120.0000" y="-71.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="4"> <vertex x="1142.0000" y="94.0000" /> <vertex x="1556.0000" y="221.0000" /> <vertex x="709.0000" y="226.0000" /> <vertex x="911.0000" y="93.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="6"> <vertex x="-2111.0000" y="89.0000" /> <vertex x="-2067.0000" y="94.0000" /> <vertex x="-2002.0000" y="139.0000" /> <vertex x="-2344.0000" y="223.0000" /> <vertex x="-2196.0000" y="112.0000" /> <vertex x="-2153.0000" y="91.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="4"> <vertex x="105.0000" y="233.0000" /> <vertex x="-94.0000" y="178.0000" /> <vertex x="69.0000" y="106.0000" /> <vertex x="91.0000" y="104.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="-2002.0000" y="139.0000" /> <vertex x="-2067.0000" y="94.0000" /> <vertex x="-2032.0000" y="110.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="4"> <vertex x="-1150.0000" y="146.0000" /> <vertex x="105.0000" y="233.0000" /> <vertex x="-2344.0000" y="223.0000" /> <vertex x="-2002.0000" y="139.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="413.0000" y="194.0000" /> <vertex x="356.0000" y="172.0000" /> <vertex x="376.0000" y="176.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="105.0000" y="233.0000" /> <vertex x="-192.0000" y="177.0000" /> <vertex x="-94.0000" y="178.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="4"> <vertex x="105.0000" y="233.0000" /> <vertex x="-1150.0000" y="146.0000" /> <vertex x="-888.0000" y="139.0000" /> <vertex x="-192.0000" y="177.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="3112.0000" y="255.0000" /> <vertex x="-3112.0000" y="256.0000" /> <vertex x="-2684.0000" y="223.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="3112.0000" y="255.0000" /> <vertex x="1556.0000" y="221.0000" /> <vertex x="1643.0000" y="212.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="709.0000" y="226.0000" /> <vertex x="173.0000" y="232.0000" /> <vertex x="476.0000" y="223.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="3112.0000" y="255.0000" /> <vertex x="2078.0000" y="222.0000" /> <vertex x="2422.0000" y="222.0000" /> </polygon> <polygon numVertexes="3"> <vertex x="3112.0000" y="255.0000" /> <vertex x="105.0000" y="233.0000" /> <vertex x="173.0000" y="232.0000" /> </polygon> </fixture> </body> </bodies> <metadata> <format>1</format> <ptm_ratio></ptm_ratio> </metadata> </bodydef> And here is my code: private void loadLevel() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub AssetManager assetManager = getAssets();   • Regex for capturing numbered text list

    - by crunchyt
I have a test list that I am trying to capture data from using a regex. Here is a sample of the text format: (1) this is a sample string /(2) something strange /(3) another bit of text /(4) the last one/ something!/ I have a Regex that currently captures this correctly, but I am having some difficulty with making it work under outlier conditions. Here is my regex /\(?\d\d?\)([^\)]+)(\/|\z)/ Unfortunately some of the data contains parentheses like this: (1) this is a sample string (1998-1999) /(2) something strange (blah) /(3) another bit of text /(4) the last one/ something!/ The substrings '(1998-1999)' and '(blah)' make it fail! Anyone care to have a crack at this one? Thank you :D

  • HTMLAgilitypack getting <P> and <STRONG> text

    - by StealthRT
Hey all i am looking for a way to get this HTML code: <DIV class=channel_row><SPAN class=channel> <DIV class=logo><IMG src='/images/channel_logos/WGNAMER.png'></DIV> <P><STRONG>2</STRONG><BR>WGNAMER </P></SPAN> using the HtmlAgilityPack. I have been trying this: With channel info!Logo = .SelectSingleNode(".//img").Attributes("src").Value info!Channel = .SelectSingleNode(".//span[@class='channel']").ChildNodes(1).ChildNodes(0).InnerText info!Station = .SelectSingleNode(".//span[@class='channel']").ChildNodes(1).ChildNodes(2).InnerText End With I can get the Logo but it comes up with a blank string for the Channel and for the Station it says Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. I've tried all types of combinations: info!Station = .SelectSingleNode(".//span[@class='channel']").ChildNodes(1).ChildNodes(1).InnerText info!Station = .SelectSingleNode(".//span[@class='channel']").ChildNodes(1).ChildNodes(3).InnerText info!Station = .SelectSingleNode(".//span[@class='channel']").ChildNodes(0).ChildNodes(1).InnerText info!Station = .SelectSingleNode(".//span[@class='channel']").ChildNodes(0).ChildNodes(2).InnerText info!Station = .SelectSingleNode(".//span[@class='channel']").ChildNodes(0).ChildNodes(3).InnerText What do i need to do in order to correct this?

  • scraping text from multiple html files into a single csv file

    - by Lulu
I have just over 1500 html pages (1.html to 1500.html). I have written a code using Beautiful Soup that extracts most of the data I need but "misses" out some of the data within the table. My Input: e.g file 1500.html My Code: #!/usr/bin/env python import glob import codecs from BeautifulSoup import BeautifulSoup with codecs.open('dump2.csv', "w", encoding="utf-8") as csvfile: for file in glob.glob('*html*'): print 'Processing', file soup = BeautifulSoup(open(file).read()) rows = soup.findAll('tr') for tr in rows: cols = tr.findAll('td') #print >> csvfile,"#".join(col.string for col in cols) #print >> csvfile,"#".join(td.find(text=True)) for col in cols: print >> csvfile, col.string print >> csvfile, "===" print >> csvfile, "***" Output: One CSV file, with 1500 lines of text and columns of data. For some reason my code does not pull out all the required data but "misses" some data, e.g the Address1 and Address 2 data at the start of the table do not come out. I modified the code to put in * and === separators, I then use perl to put into a clean csv file, unfortunately I'm not sure how to work my code to get all the data I'm looking for!

  • Scrape HTML tables from a given URL into CSV

    - by dreeves
I seek a tool that can be run on the command line like so: tablescrape 'http://someURL.foo.com' [n] If n is not specified and there's more than one HTML table on the page, it should summarize them (header row, total number of rows) in a numbered list. If n is specified or if there's only one table, it should parse the table and spit it to stdout as CSV or TSV. Potential additional features: To be really fancy you could parse a table within a table, but for my purposes -- fetching data from wikipedia pages and the like -- that's overkill. The Perl module HTML::TableExtract can do this and may be good place to start for writing the tool I have in mind. An option to asciify any unicode. An option to apply an arbitrary regex substitution for fixing weirdnesses in the parsed table. • jquery selector logical AND?

    - by taber
    In jQuery I'm trying to select only mount nodes where a and b's text values are 64 and "test" accordingly. I'd also like to fallback to 32 if no 64 and "test" exist. What I'm seeing with the code below though, is that the 32 mount is being returned instead of the 64. The XML: <thingses <thing <a32</a <-- note, a here is 32 and not 64 -- <other...</other <mountsample 1</mount <btest</b </thing <thing <a64</a <other...</other <mountsample 2</mount <btest</b </thing <thing <a64</a <other...</other <mountsample 3</mount <bunrelated</b </thing <thing <a128</a <other...</other <mountsample 4</mount <bunrelated</b </thing </thingses And unfortunately I don't have control over the XML as it comes from somewhere else. What I'm doing now is: var ret_val = ''; $data.find('thingses thing').each(function(i, node) { var $node = $(node), found_node = $node.find('b:first:is(test), a:first:is(64)').end().find('mount:first').text(); if(found_node) { ret_val = found_node; return; } found_node = $node.find('b:first:is(test), a:first:is(32)').end().find('mount:first').text(); if(found_node) { ret_val = found_node; return; } ret_val = 'not found'; }); // expected result is "sample 2", but if sample 2's parent "thing" was missing, the result would be "sample 1" alert(ret_val); For my ":is" selector I'm using: if(jQuery){ jQuery.expr[":"].is = function(obj, index, meta, stack){ return (obj.textContent || obj.innerText || $(obj).text() || "").toLowerCase() == meta[3].toLowerCase(); }; } There has to be a better way than how I'm doing it. I wish I could replace the "," with "AND" or something. :) Any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

  • How do I get 3 lines of text from a paragraph

    - by Keltex
I'm trying to create an "snippet" from a paragraph. I have a long paragraph of text with a word hilighted in the middle. I want to get the line containing the word before that line and the line after that line. I have the following piece of information: The text (in a string) The lines are deliminated by a NEWLINE character \n I have the index into the string of the text I want to hilight A couple other criteria: If my word falls on first line of the paragraph, it should show the 1st 3 lines If my word falls on the last line of the paragraph, it should show the last 3 lines Should show the entire paragraph in the degenative cases (the paragraph only has 1 or 2 lines) Here's an example: This is the 1st line of CAT text in the paragraph This is the 2nd line of BIRD text in the paragraph This is the 3rd line of MOUSE text in the paragraph This is the 4th line of DOG text in the paragraph This is the 5th line of RABBIT text in the paragraph Example, if my index points to BIRD, it should show lines 1, 2, & 3 as one complete string like this: This is the 1st line of CAT text in the paragraph This is the 2nd line of BIRD text in the paragraph This is the 3rd line of MOUSE text in the paragraph If my index points to DOG, it should show lines 3, 4, & 5 as one complete string like this: This is the 3rd line of MOUSE text in the paragraph This is the 4th line of DOG text in the paragraph This is the 5th line of RABBIT text in the paragraph etc. Anybody want to help tackle this?

  • What is the difference between an Abstract Syntax Tree and a Concrete Syntax Tree?

    - by Jason Baker
I've been reading a bit about how interpreters/compilers work, and one area where I'm getting confused is the difference between an AST and a CST. My understanding is that the parser makes a CST, hands it to the semantic analyzer which turns it into an AST. However, my understanding is that the semantic analyzer simply ensures that rules are followed. I don't really understand why it would actually make any changes to make it abstract rather than concrete. Is there something that I'm missing about the semantic analyzer, or is the difference between an AST and CST somewhat artificial?

  • Boolean logic parser for SQL

    - by d03boy
This is going to sound crazy but does anyone have techniques that would allow me to parse boolean logic strings in Sql Server 2005 without extraordinary/rediculous effort? Here is an example: (SOMEVAR=4 OR SOMEVAR=5) AND (NOT OTHERVAR=Y) I feel like recursion would help a lot if that were possible in Sql but I'm not really sure how to go about that sort of thing. If not, maybe there's a way to attach an external system to do the recursion for me? Don't worry, I'm not getting my hopes up.
