• How to resolve: 'cmd' is not recognized as an internal or external command?

  I have searched other forums to solve this error where it would either end with: 1.) re-install OS 2.) Setting path variable C:/Windows/System32 The latter did not work, and as you can probably imagine, I do not want to have to re-install my OS... I am running the command "mvn jetty:run" and the following is my stack trace, finishing with the message: "'cmd' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable problem or batch file" as stated in the title of this question. • How to change mime type of email notifications sent by PeopleSoft?

  I work near some PeopleSoft guys and they asked how to change a link in an email notification sent by PeopleSoft so that it is friendly, basically they just wanted the use of an HTML anchor. After sitting down with them and looking through the code I found that the default mime type for all email notifications is text/plain and there does not seem to be any kind of an email API that is called which would allow setting the mime type of the body to text/html. Furthermore, there seems to be no general email configuration in PeopleSoft to, for example, set the default mime type for all emails. Do you know how to change the mime type of an email in PeopleSoft?

  The shop I work in is pretty laid-back. We're on a documentation kick, only because historically we've been very bad with it. We do a lot of our brainstorming in face-to-face meetings, and also do a lot of communication via IM in addition to email. While I'm usually pretty good about documentation and keeping copious lab notes, I just finished a build of a host and spent hours searching through IMs, emails, files on my workstation, etc. to pull out anything I missed in my lab notes, which formed a large amount of the basis for the internal documentation. Does anyone have any thoughts on, aside from manually saving things to a project directory, managing various data sources (especially email and IM) and tracking them on project basis? Ideally, I'd like an easy way to put copies of emails, IM logs, etc. into a project-specific directory on my workstation and then just have a cron job that syncs that up with a shared folder. This isn't really a candidate for anything more advanced, as the bulk of the data will be copies of configs, code, etc. Here are the big restrictions: Email is via a centralized Zimbra install, so nothing can happen server-side. My workstation is Linux. Aside from writing Pidgin and Thunderbird plugins that let me tag chats and emails as belonging to a project, and then copy them to the appropriate place... any thoughts? • Cannot receive email outside domain with Microsoft Exchange

  This morning we couldn't receive email from outside our company's domain (domain.com.au), but we can send email to outside (e.g hotmail, gmail, yahoo). When I tried to send email to my work email address using my gmail account, I received this message Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 Unable to relay for [email protected] (state 14). I tried using telnet to send email, and it works. But still I couldn't figure out why I can't receive email from outside. I'm not sure if I provided enough info. I'll try to provide as much info as needed to help me solve the problem. Thanks

• Best practise to send mass email within application (ASP.NET MVC 2, C#)?

  Whats the best way to implement mass email sending feature within web app? Two major cases: Email messages for separate registered users depending on their activities (just sending short reminders to user for ex about new posts in his created topic) "Send email for all registered users" functionality, it will be nice to have feature for system administrator to send some messages for all registered users. Of course adding all emails to recipient isn't the way we can go, because email addresses for each user are anonimous. As i understand for case nr1 there is no problem just create some email message via System.Net.Mail by creating new mail message and sending it... but what about case nr 2??? i guess smth like this: foreach(var emailAddress in emailAddresses) { MailMessage mail = new MailMessage(); mail.From = new MailAddress("[email protected]"); mail.To.Add(emailAddress); mail.Subject = "test"; mail.Body = "test"; SmtpClient smtp = new SmtpClient("smtp.gmail.com", 587); smtp.Send(mail); } isn't the good way :) so the question is what is the best way to achieve this ? btw we have no possiblity to deploy some serive for email sending, this should be integrated into web application.

• Where and how to reference composite MVP components?

  I am learning about the MVP (Model-View-Presenter) Passive View flavour of MVC. I intend to expose events from view interfaces rather than using the observer pattern to remove explicit coupling with presenter. Context: Windows Forms / Client-Side JavaScript. I am led to believe that the MVP (or indeed MVC in general) pattern can be applied at various levels of a user interface ranging from the main "Window" to an embedded "Text Field". For instance, the model to the text field is probably just a string whereas the model to the "Window" contains application specific view state (like a persons name which resides within the contained text field). Given a more complex scenario: Documentation viewer which contains: TOC navigation pane Document view Search pane Since each of these 4 user interface items are complex and can be reused elsewhere it makes sense to design these using MVP. Given that each of these user interface items comprises of 3 components; which component should be nested? where? who instantiates them? • Component Development within SOA

  How do the concepts of component development work within SOA? Let’s first break this question down by defining what component development is. Component development is the process of implementing specific functionality in the form of small units of complied code that can be reused across multiple applications or product families. Typically, components are integrated with other components forming composite components. In general, most interaction between components is done through interfaces to promote loose coupling. The concept of loose coupling refers to the interconnections of components in a system so that their component dependences based on contracts defined by interfaces. A real life example of this can be experienced while using Legos to build a structure. If we consider each Lego block as a component, then when two more Legos are connected they form a composite component due to the fact that the structure is made up of multiple components.   It is important to note that composite components can be made from standard components and other composite components. Eventually as various components and composite components become interconnected a structure begins to form in the shape of an application or in the case of Legos in the form of Lego structure. Software components can loosely be defined as small units of related implemented functionality that can communicate with other components or may have dependencies on other components. Based on the definitions provide above, it is my personal opinion that SOA works well with the concepts of component development. The SOA architectural style focuses on creating loosely coupled services. Each service much like a component offers related functionality that can be accessed by various requesting clients.  In addition services can be derived just like components in that services can be built on other services to form composite services. In summary, the concepts of component development can work within SOA based on the example above.

• How to make a spam tester

  In my project I need to make a spam tester to check the spam score of the mails prepared to be sent. When I searched, I found Spam Assassin, which they say is used as sapm filters in many mail servers. Can I create a spam tester using Spam Assassin? Another option I found is one Litmus API, which is a paid service. Is there any options other than these two? Freeware is more preferred. My project is a J2EE web application using Spring.

  I know i could program it myself but maybe there is a simple (thats the keyword) package. I like to add a box, snippet, form or page to my site for users to input their email address. Then i'd like it to automatically send email saying you have successfully subscribe. I'd want an unsubscribe link and i would be using smtp on google apps. I would like to send email with html so i can have a simple sentence with a complex link such as this I dont know if i'll get marked as spam if i try to send everyone an email at once? so i'd like the software to manage it. Also i'd like to get the emails in a simple format like csv. Is there a simple app that does this? if not i can write a simple form which does a simple insert (or delete when unsubscribing) and write a 200-300line app to send my emails out for me.

• What is wrong with this mail header text?

  The following $header is being sent via PHP's mail($to,$subject,$content,$header) command. The mail arrives and appears to have an attachment. But the mail text is empty as is the file. I think this has something to do with line spacing but I can't see the problem. I have tried putting the contents (between the boundaries) in $contents rather than appending it to $header. It doesn't make a difference. Any thoughts? • How should I safely send bulk mail? [closed]

  First of all, we have a large software system we've developed and have a number of clients using it in their own environment. Each of them is responsible for using their own equipment and resources, we don't provide any services to share with them. We have introduced an automated email system which sends emails automatically via SMTP. Usually, it only sends around 10-20 emails a day, but it's very possible to send bulk email up to thousands of people in a single day. This of course requires a big haul of work, which isn't necessarily the problem. The issue arises when it comes to the SMTP server we're using. An email server is issued a number of relays a day, which is paid for. This isn't really necessarily the issue either. The risk is getting the email server blacklisted. It's inevitable, and we need to carefully take all this into consideration. As far as I can see, the ideal setup would be to have at least 50 IP addresses on multiple servers, each of which hosts its own SMTP server. When sending bulk email, it will divide them up across these servers, and each one will process its own queue. If one of those IP's gets blacklisted, it will be decommissioned and a new IP will replace it. Is there a better way that doesn't require us to invest in a large handful of servers? Perhaps a third party service which is meant exactly for this?

• Best way to setup multiple sites' emails in my Gmail

  I've a dozen sites and I want all of their emails come to my one gmail id and I want to reply centrally from Gmail only. I've also added all of those emails in "send email as:" list in Gmail. I could add email forwarders in my Cpanel but in that case I'll not be able to send email whose inboxes haven't been created( for example [email protected]). If I create email account then I'd receive emails in my inbox as well as forwared by the forwarder( to my gmail id). Otherwise I can setup Gmail for my domain. But for a dozen emails I'm not sure if that'd be fine. I see in http://www.google.com/enterprise/apps/business/pricing.html that for up to 10 emails it is free. But then to send email from webhosting the php code will need SMTP login details and leaving my important gmail account details in my webhosting account is very risky given my sites have been compromised twice. What is the best way to centralize all my emails so that I can read/reply/search from single place?

• ADF Mobile - Update through Web Service (with ADF Business Components)

  In my previous blog entry I went over the basics of exposing ADF Business Components through service interfaces, and developing a simple ADF Mobile application that access and fetches data from those services. In this entry we'll dive a bit deeper  and address an update scenario through these web service interfaces. You can see the full demo video at the end of the post. In the first steps I show how to add an explicit method execution to fetch a specific record we want to update on the second page of a flow. For an update you'll be invoking a service method and passing the record you want to update as a parameter. As in many other Web services scenarios, we need to provide a complete object of specific type to the method. The ADF Web service data control helps you here by offering an object of this type that you can drag and drop into your page. The next step is to make sure to fill that object with the values you want to update. In the demo we do this through  coding in a backing bean that shows how to use the AdfmfJavaUtilities utility. The code gets the value from one field, gets a pointer to the parallel update field, and then copy from one to the other. At the end of the bean we manually execute the call to the update method on the Web service.   I tried to create a regular expression which catches all RFC-valid addresses but it's ok if some false-positives come through (though hopefully not so many).   One of the nice thing of our Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC is, it gives you an excellent extensible platform to create rich view components. In this post, I will show you a tiny but very powerful ListView Component. Those who are familiar with the Webforms ListView component already knows that it has the support to define different parts of the component, we will have the same kind of support in our view component. • What email providers have extremely high reliability and robust SLAs?

  My dad is a professor who does part-time law practice. He had been using his university email address for professional correspondence, when he found out that the university had permanently lost 16 business-related emails in their spam filter (with no apology, notification, or compensation). What I am looking for now is an email provider (preferably with Exchange, but not required) with very high reliability and a SLA that is basically an insurance policy. I have looked at Google Apps's SLA, but this will not suit. I am looking for a provider who will take $X per month in registration fees, and will: Alert me when there is any downtime. Promptly fix the issue Pay me a fee ($Y) whenever there is downtime. I want a significant, contractual reason for them to be diligent in their service. Free service for me is not enough.
