• Testing Java Classes with JMeter

  I'd like to test a Java Service Call. My first attempt was to use the "Java Request Sampler" The docu says This sampler lets you control a java class that implements the JavaSamplerClient interface. I'm not sure how to get the org.apache.jmeter.protocol.java.sampler.JavaSamplerClient Interface as there is no Maven Artifact nor provided binaries on the JMeter side. Just a JMeter Maven Plugin (which is not what I'm looking for). I could install the needed binaries in my local Maven Repository, I Just don't know where they are available. Wondering if anybody at all is using the "Java Request Sampler" ? P.S. Maybe I should try the JUnit Sampler

• Update JProgressBar from new Thread

  How can I update the JProgressBar.setValue(int) from another thread? My secondary goal is do it in the least amount of classes possible. • ItemsControl that loads items one by one asynchronously.

  Hey Guys, I am creating a custom DataGrid by deriving the traditional tookit based WPF DataGrid. I want a functionality in the grid to load items one by one asynchronously, wherein as soon as ItemsSource is changed i.e. a new collection is Set to the ItemsSource property or the bound collection is Changed dues to items that rae added, moved or removed (wherein the notifications comes to the data grid when the underlying source implements INotifyCollectionChanged such as ObservableCollection). This is because even with virtualising stackpanel underneath the datagrid takes time to load (2-3 seconds delay) to load the data rows when it has several columns and some are template based. With above behavior that delay would "appear" to have reduced giving datagrid a feel that it has the data and is responsive enough to load it. How can I achieve it? Thx Vinit.

I do not want any change in the main method. I am actually trying to implement the factory patterns where the subclasses register with the factory but i have simplified the code for this question.

  I've set up a SOAP WebServiceProvider in JAX-WS, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the raw XML from a SOAPMessage (or any Node) object. Here's a sample of the code I've got right now, and where I'm trying to grab the XML: @WebServiceProvider(wsdlLocation="SoapService.wsdl") @ServiceMode(value=Service.Mode.MESSAGE) public class SoapProvider implements Provider<SOAPMessage> { public SOAPMessage invoke(SOAPMessage msg) { // How do I get the raw XML here? } } Is there a simple way to get the XML of the original request?   I'm making a custom button in Java that has two states, mousePressed, and mouseReleased. At the same time, if I wanted to reuse this button, so that other event listeners can register with it, are these the appropriate steps I should do: override addActionListener(ActionListener action) override removeActionListener(ActionListener action) have a private variable like List <ActionListener> list = new List <ActionListener>() to keep track of when events get added and some sort of function with for loop to run all the actions: public void runListeners() { for (ActionListener al : list) { al.actionPerfomed; } } I'm not really sure if this is the way you can do it or if there are other things I am missing. • How to determine which side of a 3D plane is showing?

  This is a 3d n00b question. I'm working on a WPF control which implements the basics of Silverlight's PerspectiveTransform feature, allowing a 2D plane to be rotated on any of the three axes. It works pretty well. However I'm a little stuck on the math required to determine whether or not the back of the plane is showing. My naive code for figuring that out now is: bool isBackShowing = Math.Abs(RotationX) > 90 && Math.Abs(RotationY) < 90; if (!isBackShowing) { isBackShowing = Math.Abs(RotationX) < 90 && Math.Abs(RotationY) > 90; } However, this fails when the rotation is between +-270 and +-360 on either axis. The underlying transform is using a Quaternion object to do the actual rotation, and that has nice Axis and Angle properties, so I'm guessing I could just use that if I knew how.

• How to use a dialog in an Excel shared addin

  I'm writing a shared addin for Excel. It adds a CommandBarButton that when clicked opens a WPF window to collect some information from the user. I wanted to keep the same WPF dialog in memory and reuse it so that if the user clicks the CommandBarButton again their previous values would still be there. So I made a reference to my WPD as a private member of my addin object that implements Extensibility.IDTExtensibility2. I created the window during OnStartupComplete(), but for some reason when I run Excel the window immediately opens even though I never called ShowDialog() and when I do call ShowDialog() when the CommandBarButton is clicked to reOpen the window it fails to load. Does anyone know why this happens and what the correct way to handle this is? Thanks very much for any help.

  I answered this question, and Potatoswatter answered too as The modern C++ equivalent would be a sentry object: construct it at the beginning of a function, with its constructor implementing call(), and upon return (or abnormal exit), its destructor implements I am not familiar with using sentry objects in C++. I thought they were limited to input and output streams. Could somebody explain to me about C++ sentry objects as well as how to use them as an around interceptor for one or more methods in a class ? i.e. How to do this ? Sentry objects are very similar indeed. On the one hand they require explicit instantiation (and being passed this) but on the other hand you can add to them so that they check not only the invariants of the class but some pre/post conditions for the function at hand.

• java: relationship of the Runnable and Thread interfaces

  I realize that the method run() must be declared because its declared in the Runnable interface. But my question comes when this class runs how is the Thread object allowed if there is no import call to a particular package? how does runnable know anything about Thread or its methods? does the Runnable interface extend the Thread class? • How does multiple implementing multiple COM interfaces work in C++?

  I am trying to understand this example code regarding Browser Helper Objects. Inside, the author implements a single class which exposes multiple interfaces (IObjectWithSite, IDispatch). His QueryInterface function performs the following: if(riid == IID_IUnknown) *ppv = static_cast<BHO*>(this); else if(riid == IID_IObjectWithSite) *ppv = static_cast<IObjectWithSite*>(this); else if (riid == IID_IDispatch) *ppv = static_cast<IDispatch*>(this); I have learned that from a C perspective, interface pointers are just pointers to VTables. So I take it to mean that C++ is capable of returning the VTable of any implemented interface using static_cast. Does this mean that a class constructed in this way has a bunch of VTables in memory (IObjectWithSite, IDispatch, etc)? What does C++ do with the name collisions on the different interfaces (they each have a QueryInterface, AddRef and Release function), can I implement different methods for each of these?

I want to know which player or team reach 100 goals first, second, third... I thought to use triggers with tables to accumulate the totals. Table player_accumulator (and team_accumulator) table would be player_id total_goals total_assists 1 3 6 team_id total_goals total_assists 8 3 1 9 0 5 Each time a row is inserted in stats table, a trigger will insert/update player_accumulator and team_accumulator tables. This trigger could also verify if player or team has reached a milestone in milestone table containing numbers milestone 100 500 1000 ... A table player_milestone would contains milestone reached by player: player_id stat milestone date 1 goal 100 2013-04-02 1 assist 100 2012-11-19 There is a better way to implements a "milestone" ? There is an easiest way without triggers ? I'm using PostgreSQL

• richfaces keepAlive not working

  I have a mediaOutput tag which, in its createContent attribute, requires the backing bean to be in a certain state. A list of values, which is filled in an init method, must be available. I therefore added a keepAlive tag for the whole backing bean. I now indeed see the backingBean in stead of some (richfaces) proxy bean, but the filled list is null again. How to make this possible? IEnumerable returned = anotherMethodWhichWantsAnIEnumerable(someStreamAsIEnumerable); ... } One way is to read the entire Stream, convert it to an Array of bytes and pass it in, as Array implements IEnumerable. • Mimic an HTTPRequest and HTTPResponse object in Java

  How do I mimic an HTTPServletRequest and HTTPServletResponse object. The reason is I want to test the behaviour of some servlets. I know JUnit probably provides this functionality but I don't know how to use it (I will learn soon) and need to do this reasonably quickly. HTTPServletRequest and HTTPServletResponse are both interfaces so they can't be instantiated. There is a HttpServletRequestWrapper which implements HttpServletRequest but it doesn't seem to have any setParameter() type methods and HttpServletResponse doesn't seem to have any implementing classes at all. How can I test my code by passing a suitable HttpServletRequest object and then checking that the received HttpServletResponse object matches what I expect?

  I have a class that implements the INotifyPropertyChanged interface. Some of the properties of the class are of type List. For example: public List<string> Answers { get { return _answers; } set { _answers = value; onPropertyChanged("Answers") } } ... private void onPropertyChanged(string propertyName) { if(this.PropertyChanged != null) this.PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } If I assign a new List<string> to Answer, then the PropertyChanged event fires as expected; but if I add a string string to the Answer list using the List Add method, then PropertyChanged event doesn't fire. I was considering adding an AddAnswer() method to my class, which would handle calling the lists's Add method and would call onPropertyChanged() from there, but is that the right way to do it? • ArrayBlockingQueue - How to "interrupt" a thread that is wating on .take() method

  I use an ArrayBlockingQueue in my code. Clients will wait untill an element becomes available: myBlockingQueue.take(); How can I "shutdown" my service in case no elements are present in the queue and the take() ist wating indefenitely for an element to become available? This method throws an InterruptedException. My question is, how can I "evoke" an Interrupted Exception so that take() will quit? (I also tought about notify(), but it seems I doesnt help here..) I know I could insert an special "EOF/QUIT" marker Element but is this really the only solution? UPDATE (regarding the comment, that points to another question with two solutions: one mentioned above using a "Poisoning Pill Object" and the second one is Thread.interrupt(): The myBlockingQueue.take() is used NOT in a Thread (extending Thread) but rather implements Runnable. It seems a Runnable does not provide the .interrupt() method? How could I interrupt the Runnable? Million Thanks Bernhard

  I'm slowly learning the ins and outs of LINQtoSQL, but this is confusing me. Here is the statement I have: IQueryable<IEvent> events = (from e in db.getEvents() select e).Select(x => SelectEvent(x, null)); What the SelectEvent does can be explained in this answer here. I am not using the .toList() function as I don't want potentially thousands of records brought into memory. public IEvent SelectEvent(SqlServer.Event ev, EventType? type) { // Create an object which implements IEvent // I don't have the code in front of me, so forgive the lack of code } My question is really for the Select() method. I get the "Cannot translate to SQL" error and the Select() is listed in the error message. Clueless on this one :-/.

Why is that? Has it anything to do with Java not knowing at run-time what the object types really are, so it just assumes them to be Objects(thus requiring a cast)? Thanks

• How to handle JPA annotations for a pointer to a generic interface

  I have a generic class that is also a mapped super class that has a private field that holds a pointer to another object of the same type: @MappedSuperclass public abstract class MyClass<T extends MyIfc<T>> implements MyIfc<T> { @OneToOne() @JoinColumn(name = "previous", nullable = true) private T previous; ... } My problem is that Eclipse is showing an error in the file at the OneToOne "Target Entity "T" for previous is not an Entity." All of the implementations of MyIfc are, in fact, Entities. I should also add that each concrete implementation that inherit from MyClass uses a different value for T (because T is itself) so I can't use the "targetEntity" attribute. I guess if there is no answer then I'll have to move this JPA annotation to all the concrete subclasses of MyClass. It just seems like JPA/Hibernate should be smart enough to know it'll all work out at run-time. Makes me wonder if I should just ignore this error somehow.
