    I have output something like this: #<Hashie::Mash created_time="1366008641" from=#<Hashie::Mash full_name="Cor Valen" id="22340" username="_corin"> id="4344344286" text="Look Who It Is, My Brother, My Favorite Deputy"> This was an output if I did this: <%= media.caption %> I wanted to get the text part, and I did this: <%= media.caption.text %> gets me error: undefined method `text' for nil:NilClass <%= media.caption[:text] %> gets me error: undefined method `[]' for nil:NilClass I don't get it?     I am wanting to pass something like the following to my view from my controller via GET not POST: public class MyDTO { public string val1 { get; set; } public string val2 { get; set; } public MyObject obj { get; set; } } public class MyObject { public int SomeInt { get; set; } public string ACoolValue { get; set; } public string YetAnotherCoolValue { get; set; } } And then the controller would like like this. (Note it is a GET): public ActionResult MyView(MyDTO dto) { return View(dto) } The problem is that the instance of MyObject is coming back as null, where val1 and val2 have data. Has anyone run across this?

I have a ajax calls that have the url http://localhost:80/Push/GetContacts?id=23..... The above servlet mapping is not correct for the AJAX call. it issues a http 404 not found call.   • Urls parameters doesn't encoding correctly!

    I'am using asp.net mvc version 1.0 and I've a problem with some parameter in a url! My url is look like so(http://localhost:2282/Tags/PostList/c#) routes.MapRoute( "TagsRoute", "Tags/PostList/{tag}", new { controller="Tags",Action="PostList",tag = "" } ); In effect the problem is that tag paramter isn't encoding and so simbol # is ignored! I am using an actionlink but maybe with version 1.0 isn't encoding parameter directly! <%=Html.ActionLink(itemtags.Tags.TagName, "PostList","Tags", new { tag = itemtags.Tags.TagName }, new { style = "color:red;" })%> With this actionlink only whitespace are encoding correctly, infact asp.net mvc become asp.net%20mvc and it work fine! But c# isn't encoding :( So I try to use Server.UrlEncode, and in effect it happen some stuff!!! Infact c# became c%2523 but it isn't correct again because hexadecimal of # is %23! Have you some solutions???? Route Contraints? Thanks

But in order to query for those unique details I need to pass the id of the village.   • C++ arrays as parameters, subscript vs. pointer

    Alright, I'm guessing this is an easy question, so I'll take the knocks, but I'm not finding what I need on google or SO. I'd like to create an array in one place, and populate it inside a different function. I define a function: void someFunction(double results[]) { for (int i = 0; i<100; ++i) { for (int n = 0; n<16; ++n) //note this iteration limit { results[n] += i * n; } } } That's an approximation to what my code is doing, but regardless, shouldn't be running into any overflow or out of bounds issues or anything. I generate an array: double result[16]; for(int i = 0; i<16; i++) { result[i] = -1; } then I want to pass it to someFunction someFunction(result); When I set breakpoints and step through the code, upon entering someFunction, results is set to the same address as result, and the value there is -1.000000 as expected. However, when I start iterating through the loop, results[n] doesn't seem to resolve to *(results+n) or *(results+n*sizeof(double)), it just seems to resolve to *(results). What I end up with is that instead of populating my result array, I just get one value. What am I doing wrong?

Am I doing something wrong?

However, this still doesn't behave as well as I would like. Particularly, it doesn't allow for further nice find chaining (such that it doesn't execute this find until it's gotten all its conditions). More importantly, it doesn't allow for use in an :include. Ideally I want to do something like this: PostsController def show post = Post.get_cache(params[:id]) { Post.find(params[:id], :include => {:comments => {:users => {:avatar_asset => :thumb}} } ... end ... so that I can cache the assets together with the post. Or cache them at all, really - e.g. get_cache(user_id){User.find(user_id, :include => :avatar_assets)} would be a good first pass. This doesn't actually work (self == User), but is correct in spirit: has_many :avatar_assets, :foreign_key => 'creator_id', :class_name => 'Asset', :conditions => ["filename LIKE ?", self.login + "_%"] (Also posted on Refactor My Code.)

    Hi, I have this code: s(x => x.Open()); s is a method which calls one parameter, which is perfectly fine, like so: public void s(Action<p1> action) {} Ignoring the naming conventions, if I make the method like the below: public void s(Action<p1, p2> action) {} How do I pass in more than one parameter? Out of interest, is there any way to use the params keyword with Action<? Also, I am using C# 4.0 so I would be interested to see how it can help me in an way. Thanks

  • Passing a web service an unknown number of parameters

    I'm relatively new to utilizing web services. I'm trying to create one that will be accepting data from a ASP.Net form whose input controls are created dynamically at runtime and I don't how many control values will be getting passed. I'm thinking I'll be using jQuery's serialize() on the form to get the data, but what do I have the web service accept for a parameter? I thought maybe I could use serializeArray(), but still I don't know what type of variable to accept for the JavaScript array. Finally, I was thinking that I might need to create a simple data transfer object with the data before sending it along to the web service. I just didn't wanna go through with the DTO route if there was a much simpler way or an established best practice that I should follow. Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide and let me know I wasn't clear enough, or if you have any questions.

    Hi, I have this user control: <user:RatingStars runat="server" product="<%= getProductId() %>" category="<%= getCategoryId() %>"></user:RatingStars> You see that i fill the product and category by calling two methods: public string getProductId() { return productId.ToString(); } public string getCategoryId() { return categoryId.ToString(); } I do not understand why, in the user control, when i take the data received (product and category) it gives me "<%= getProductId() %" instead of giving the id received from that method... Any help would be kindly appreciated...
