  How do I get Excel to partially auto-complete a word using another that already exist in the same worksheet? Let's say I have the word "Microsoft" in a cell and in the cell below I want to type the word "Microhard". When I start typing Microhard, the word Microsoft appears shaded in black. How can I select the "Micro" part alone from Microsoft and continue to fill out the rest with "hard" without it trying to fill out as Microsoft?

  Hi I'm using a xslt based dataview webpart the steps i have taken to create a data view webpart is that 1. added a list view webpart on the page 2. Modified the toolbar property to show fulll toolbar 3. open the web page containing above list view webpart in sharepoint desginer and converted it to xslt based webpart (to make further changes in UI) 4. saved the page and previewed in browser in browser web part was throwing the error while i was able to see it properly in desginer witout any error the error maesseged shown in webpart was: ** Unable to display this Web Part. • Using MATLAB's plotting features as an interactive part of a Fortran program

  Although many of you will have a decent idea of what I'm aiming at, just from reading the title -- allow me a simple introduction still. I have a Fortran program - it consists of a program, some internal subroutines, 7 modules with its own procedures, and ... uhmm, that's it. Without going into much detail, for I don't think it's necessary at this point, what would be the easiest way to use MATLAB's plotting features (mainly plot(x,y) with some customizations) as an interactive part of my program ? For now I'm using some of my own custom plotting routines (based on HPGL and Calcomp's routines), but just as part of an exercise on my part, I'd like to see where this could go and how would it work (is it even possible what I'm suggesting?). Also, how much effort would it take on my part ? I know this subject has been rather extensively described in many "tutorials" on the net, but for some reason I have trouble finding the really simple yet illustrative introductory ones. So if anyone can post an example or two, simple ones, I'd be really grateful.   In a Publishing site I have web part that has to show news items from the list that has Audience Targeting field. I am using CAML query to retrieve small number of last news items. Is it possible to specify Target Audience in the CAML query ? If not, how should I do it ? Retrieve all results and than apply filter in a loop ? I am practically duplicating Content Query Web Part and I need Audience Targeting in my custom web part.

• UIView Horizontal scroll for a part of a screen

  Hi Friends, I have a requirement for scrolling a part of a view horizontally. there are 2 views, mainView(0,70,320*2,400) and a horizontalView(0,0,320*2,160)[this horizontalView has an internal UIScrollView with the same frame] So the horizontal view will occupy the first section of the screen and it should only be scrollable horizontally (and the other part of the mainView - the other part of the screen should be static). how to achieve this? i am getting a general scroll for the whole page not for the first section alone. am i in the right direction for this problem? please advice Thank you

• Copying web part pages within SharePoint

  Hi, I'm trying to copy some web part pages (aspx) from one library into another. Reason is that I've got sites which are created dynamiccally. I also want to add some content (based on several rules) to those sites, which include aspx web part pages. The deployment works fine, but the web part pages are empty in the target site. As I've read in several blog posts, this has something to do with the ghosting of the files. Is there a way to literally copy all of the content in the ASPX to the site? The webparts aren't site or feature dependant, so the pages should work on every site. When I copy the pages with SPD, it works fine, but I don't understand how SPD does this.

  Hi Friends, I have deployed 3 web parts on a site on Sharepoint server. In my 3rd web part, I have a functionality which needs a button click. Now when I click that button, the whole page gets refreshed and I have to scroll down to see the change that has happened due to clicking that functionality in 3rd web part. Is there any way by which when i click on any point of the web part, the page is reloaded but the control point or the focus remains to the same position where I clicked... Help me out. My dilemma is writing the first part of the query.i.e. choosing the fourth number of every string in a table My second query will be something like this: select description_text from table2 where sncode = 8281 -- fourth part of the data sample in every string Many thanks. novice

• Stuck part-way through installation of windows 7, upgrade product key, cannot cancel or finish installation

  I'm trying to install Windows 7 (to get rid of Windows 8). I started the installation, cleared the minefield Microsoft has put in to stop me uninstalling 8, but forgot that my Windows 7 disk is an upgrade. So now I'm part-way through the 7 install. Can't go back, can't convince Microsoft that I have a valid key; I tried stopping the Windows 7 install and booting XP first, but I can't either - the unfinished Windows 7 install prevents that. Where's the way out? Update: Having spent some time with a Microsoft operative, I know why I can't install XP; this recent computer doesn't support IDE SATA mode, only AHCI. So the problem is: - straight install - key not valid - XP first before upgrade - XP cannot install due to newer HDD interface.

• Remote desktop is slow when connecting to a computer which is part of a domain

  Hey all, We have two windows 2003 machines, one is a DC and another is joined to the domain of the DC. These machines are not locally available to us so we have to remote desktop into them. When we first got the machines remote desktop was blazing as the machines are only a couple of miles away. I then installed AD and setup routing and remote access, I also setup DNS on the DC. Now when I try remote Desktop into the machine which is part of the domain (not the DC) it is painfully slow! Remote Desktop onto the DC is also noticeably slower! Another problem is that our FTP to the DC has also become slow. I don't know what other information I can provide, as I am new to Sys Admin (moving over from development). The speed should be fast as these machines are only a couple of miles away. Any help / suggestions is greatly appreciated! Thanks Peuge

• Good book for a software developer doing part-time (Linux) system administration work

  In many smaller organisations, developers often end up doing some system administration work (for obvious reasons). A lot of the time, they have great developer skills, but few system administration skills (perhaps all self-taught), and so have to learn as they go, which is fairly inefficient. Are there canonical (or simply great) books that would help in this situation? More advanced than just using a shell (presumably a developer can do that), but not aimed at someone that hopes to spend many years doing this work. Ideally, something fairly generic (although specific to a distribution would be OK), covering databases, networking, general maintenance, etc, not just one specific task. For the most part, I'm interested in shell-based work (i.e. no GUI installed), although if there's something outstanding I'm missing, please point it out. (As an analogy, replace "system administration" with C, and I'd want K&R, with C++ and I'd want Meyers' "Effective C++").

• Watch Flash video but block out part of it

  I'm learning a foreign language. There are several online sites that have Flash video in the language I'm learning (e.g., Hulu), which is great. Unfortunately, they have English subtitles, which is (depending on who you ask) somewhere between "annoying" and "actively harmful to my learning". When I'm watching them in a window, I can just move them near the bottom of the screen, or put another window over them. That's awkward, but it kind of works. But I'd like to watch them full-screen, on my TV set. Full-screen Flash doesn't let me put any window on top of it. Is there a way to watch an online Flash video but block out part of it? I'll probably be using my Mac for this, but maybe Linux -- solutions for either one welcome.

  To be precise System has reached the maximum size allowed for the system part of the registry. Additional storage requests will be ignored. WinXP/64 running fine for 2 years (no /3Gb switch), just started happening. I used ntregopt and the problem went away at least temporarily. However, looking before and after in Windows\System32\Config I see that my System file was reduced only by 10% and is still 170+ Mb. According to my rather extensive research with Google, this is "huge" and should be more like 10-20Mb. The system runs fine. There is a System.bak that is only 11Mb and has the date when I ran ntregopt. That's what I know. Now my question: Is there anything I can do to reduce or rebuild the System registry hive given the above info?

  I have a 6 images , and each image has a certain section that i want to save as a separate image , the problem is that it has to be accurate because i am doing some animation using the sub-image so they should exactly . so I want to accurately extract a that part from each of the 6 images , i can't do it using a image editor in which i have to make the bounding box myself because it will not be accurate , is there any program that lets me do this by like defining a box using numerical values. PS: I don't want to write matlab or opencv program for this .

• Can't ping IPs for devices not part of Windows Domain

  I have a home network with a Trendnet wireless router and a Windows Domain. The DNS server is on a Windows 2000 Server and is configured to forward queries to DNS servers provided by the ISP. The router provides DHCP and is configured with the Windows 2000 Server as the DNS server. When I connect iPhones to the network over WiFi, the router can ping the iPhones through its browser based admin interface, but Windows machines that are part of the Windows Domain cannot. A laptop was connected to the network over WiFi that wasn't joined to the domain and it could see the iPhones. All machines either have a fixed or DHCP allocated IP on the 192.168.0.* subnet. How do I configure the DNS server or the Windows Domain so that Windows machines can see the iPhones?

• Privileged command as part of cronjob

  Hi, I'm facing a weired problem on a unix-based machine. Here is the story: I have a personal username/password on a unix machine with limited privileges. Whenever I need to execute some commands I have to substitute user using the su command, then I execute it normally. Now, I need to add a cronjob that uses such privileged commands so I added the cronjob on the crontab of the user I substituted to in order to have access to these commands. Strangely, it turned out to me that these commands fail to run for some reason as a cronjob although when I execute them directly from shell (after su) they work seamlessly. Why does this happen? Why do these commands not work as part of cronjobs? Thank you

  I have a spreadsheet for my budget. Payments are either drawn from my bank or my Amex card and then my Amex card is drawn from my bank as well. So I add up all my monthly total like this: =sumif(I3:I20,"<>AMEX",D3:D20) Where I3:I20 = account bill is paid from and D3:D20 is monthly amount due. So I am not including bills that come from my Amex card in the total since the Amex bill itself covers those. Next I have a column that has the day of the month 1-10 (when everything gets paid) and it does this: =sumif(H3:H20,E24:E33,D3:D20) Where H3:H20 = date bill is paid and E25:E35 = range from 1-10. What I want to do is make this second part do the same check as the first. Something like this: =sumif(H3:H19,E24:E33,IF(I3:I19"<>SPG",D3:D19,0)) But I get error: "Parse error" What am I doing wrong?

  Hi, I need a webserver (lamp) running inside a virtual machine (#1) running as a service (#2) in headless mode (#3) with part or the whole filesystem encrypted (#4). The virtual machine will be started with no user intervention and provide access to a web application for users in the host machine. Points #1,#2 and #3 are checked and proved to be working fine with Sun VirtualBox, so my question is for #4: Can I encrypt the all filesystem and still access the webserver (using a browser) or will grub ask me for a password? If encrypting the all filesystem is not an option, can I encrypt only /home and /var/www ? will apache/php be able to use files in /home or /var/www without asking for a password or mounting these partitions manually? • cant recognize the path of hard drive which is not a part of an array

  hi there, I have a problem on my server as below.. On my server i configured a raid array of 3 hard disks, in my c drive their is a web applications running on Apache Tomcat server. Now because of shortage of storage i entered a new hard disk to the server which is not a part of that raid array. Now through my web application i upload some images to new hard drive and file uploaded successfully but when through that same application, i try to retrieve those images and show on a web site i does not recognize that and dose not give any error. i try to access that drive with absolute path but it not works. Can any one help me to find the solution of this problem? Thank You in advance.

• How to switch users without entering password, part II

  I've got Ubuntu 9.10 with a user account for my wife, and one for myself. "Wake-from-screensaver" should result in "choose user" without having to enter any password. I know how to do that in Windows, but I'm not good with Linux (yet). Part of this was answered in this question which helped me get past the login screen without passwords (after booting, and after choosing "switch user"), but once the screensaver kicks in and I wake it up again, the system does not present the "choose user" screen. Instead, it either turns off the screensaver and presents the desktop of the most recent user, or (if the screensaver is set to lock the screen) prompt for the user's password (which can be handily surpassed by clicking the "switch user" button and choosing the same user again). So, the login ("choose user") screen has been dealt with. How do I make the (any) screensaver return to the login screen at wake, rather than to the current user's desktop? Windows can do this, I'm sure Linux can too - but how?

  In SQL Server 2005 tablename can be used to distinguish which table you're referring to: UPDATE LinkedServer.database.user.tablename SET val=u.val FROM localtable u WHERE tablename.ID=u.ID In SQL Server 2000 this results in Server: Msg 107, Level 16, State 2 The column prefix 'tablename' does not match with a table name or alias name used in the query. Trying UPDATE LinkedServer.database.user.tablename SET val=u.val FROM localtable u WHERE LinkedServer.database.user.tablename.ID=u.ID results in Server: Msg 117, Level 15, State 2 The number name 'LinkedServer.database.user.tablename' contains more than the maximum number of prefixes. The maximum is 3. And, of course, UPDATE LinkedServer.database.user.tablename SET val=u.val FROM localtable u WHERE ID=u.ID results in Server: Msg 209, Level 16, State 1 Ambiguous column name 'ID'. (In fact searching on "The number name contains more than the maximum number of prefixes. The maximum is 3." I found the answer, but I've typed up this question and I'm going to post it! :-) )
