  • Repopulating a collection of Backbone forms with previously submitted data

    - by Brian Wheat
    I am able to post my forms to my database and I have stepped through my back end function to check and see that my Get function is returning the same data I submitted. However I am having trouble understanding how to have this data rendered upon visiting the page again. What am I missing? The intention is to be able to create, read, update, or delete (CRUD) some personal contact data for a variable collection of individuals. //Model var PersonItem = Backbone.Model.extend({ url: "/Application/PersonList", idAttribute: "PersonId", schema: { Title: { type: 'Select', options: function (callback) { $.getJSON("/Application/GetTitles/").done(callback); } }, Salutation: { type: 'Select', options: ['Mr.', 'Mrs.', 'Ms.', 'Dr.'] }, FirstName: 'Text', LastName: 'Text', MiddleName: 'Text', NameSuffix: 'Text', StreetAddress: 'Text', City: 'Text', State: { type: 'Select', options: function (callback) { $.getJSON("/Application/GetStates/").done(callback); } }, ZipCode: 'Text', PhoneNumber: 'Text', DateOfBirth: 'Date', } }); Backbone.Form.setTemplates(template, PersonItem); //Collection var PersonList = Backbone.Collection.extend({ model: PersonItem , url: "/Application/PersonList" }); //Views var PersonItemView = Backbone.Form.extend({ tagName: "li", events: { 'click button.delete': 'remove', 'change input': 'change' }, initialize: function (options) { console.log("ItemView init"); PersonItemView.__super__.initialize.call(this, options); _.bindAll(this, 'render', 'remove'); console.log("ItemView set attr = " + options); }, render: function () { PersonItemView.__super__.render.call(this); $('fieldset', this.el).append("<button class=\"delete\" style=\"float: right;\">Delete</button>"); return this; }, change: function (event) { var target = event.target; console.log('changing ' + target.id + ' from: ' + target.defaultValue + ' to: ' + target.value); }, remove: function () { console.log("delete button pressed"); this.model.destroy({ success: function () { alert('person deleted successfully'); } }); return false; } }); var PersonListView = Backbone.View.extend({ el: $("#application_fieldset"), events: { 'click button#add': 'addPerson', 'click button#save': 'save2db' }, initialize: function () { console.log("PersonListView Constructor"); _.bindAll(this, 'render', 'addPerson', 'appendItem', 'save'); this.collection = new PersonList(); this.collection.bind('add', this.appendItem); //this.collection.fetch(); this.collection.add([new PersonItem()]); console.log("collection length = " + this.collection.length); }, render: function () { var self = this; console.log(this.collection.models); $(this.el).append("<button id='add'>Add Person</button>"); $(this.el).append("<button id='save'>Save</button>"); $(this.el).append("<fieldset><legend>Contact</legend><ul id=\"anchor_list\"></ul>"); _(this.collection.models).each(function (item) { self.appendItem(item); }, this); $(this.el).append("</fieldset>"); }, addPerson: function () { console.log("addPerson clicked"); var item = new PersonItem(); this.collection.add(item); }, appendItem: function (item) { var itemView = new PersonItemView({ model: item }); $('#anchor_list', this.el).append(itemView.render().el); }, save2db: function () { var self = this; console.log("PersonListView save"); _(this.collection.models).each(function (item) { console.log("item = " + item.toJSON()); var cid = item.cid; console.log("item.set"); item.set({ Title: $('#' + cid + '_Title').val(), Salutation: $('#' + cid + '_Salutation').val(), FirstName: $('#' + cid + '_FirstName').val(), LastName: $('#' + cid + '_LastName').val(), MiddleName: $('#' + cid + '_MiddleName').val(), NameSuffix: $('#' + cid + '_NameSuffix').val(), StreetAddress: $('#' + cid + '_StreetAddress').val(), City: $('#' + cid + '_City').val(), State: $('#' + cid + '_State').val(), ZipCode: $('#' + cid + '_ZipCode').val(), PhoneNumber: $('#' + cid + '_PhoneNumber').val(), DateOfBirth: $('#' + cid + '_DateOfBirth').find('input').val() }); if (item.isNew()) { console.log("item.isNew"); self.collection.create(item); } else { console.log("!item.isNew"); item.save(); } }); return false; } }); var personList = new PersonList(); var view = new PersonListView({ collection: personList }); personList.fetch({ success: function () { $("#application_fieldset").append(view.render()); } });

  • How to prevent window list "confusion" when detaching eclipse views?

    - by amotzg
    I'm detaching eclipse views to float on my other screen in order to get more coding space on the first screen. When doing that, the detached windows appear in ubuntu's window list applet with the eclipse icon but with no title. Then, when pushing the main eclipse button on the window list, one of the detached views will get to front but not the main eclipse window. When using Alt+tab I can also see the extra eclipse icons but choosing the correct one for the main window works and make it the active window while also showing all detached childs. Other applications behave as expected, e.g. gimp floating panels don't show on the windows list and this is also the case with SlickEdit, Firefox child windows all show on window list but gets the focus correctly, etc. I can see the the workspace switcher show my two screens but in 'Monitor preferences' I see my two screens as one big screen. I'm working with ubuntu 10.04.4 under a VMware Workstation 7.1.3 build-324285. 'uname -a' output: Linux ubuntu 2.6.32-40-generic #87-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 6 00:56:56 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux The desktop screen shot with the problem, ununtu's version, and Monitor preferences. How can I solve it and make only the main window show in window list or at least get activated when pushing it's button on the window list?

  • Change user email in Django without using django-profiles

    - by mridang
    Hi guys, In my Django application I would like the user to be able to change the email address. I've seen solution of StackOverflow pointing people to django-profiles. Unfortunately I don't want to use a full fledged profile module to accomplish a tiny feat of changing the users email. Has anyone seen this implemented anywhere. The email address verification procedure by sending a confirmation email is a requisite in this scenario. I've spent a great a deal of time trying to a find a solution that works but to no avail. Cheers.

  • MVC 2: Html.TextBoxFor, etc. in VB.NET 2010

    - by Brian
    Hello, I have this sample ASP.NET MVC 2.0 view in C#, bound to a strongly typed model that has a first name, last name, and email: <div> First: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(i => i.FirstName) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(i => i.FirstName, "*") %> </div> <div> Last: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(i => i.LastName) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(i => i.LastName, "*")%> </div> <div> Email: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(i => i.Email) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(i => i.Email, "*")%> </div> I converted it to VB.NET, seeing the appropriate constructs in VB.NET 10, as: <div> First: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(Function(i) i.FirstName) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(Function(i) i.FirstName, "*") %> </div> <div> Last: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(Function(i) i.LastName)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(Function(i) i.LastName, "*")%> </div> <div> Email: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(Function(i) i.Email)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(Function(i) i.Email, "*")%> </div> No luck. Is this right, and if not, what syntax do I need to use? Again, I'm using ASP.NET MVC 2.0, this is a view bound to a strongly typed model... does MVC 2 still not support the new language constructs in .NET 2010? Thanks.

  • CodeIgniter/PHP - Calling a view from within a view

    - by Jack W-H
    Hi Folks Basically for my webapp I'm trying to organise it a bit better. As it at the moment, every time I want to load a page, I have to do it from my controller like so: $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view('The-View-I-Want-To-Load'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); As you can tell it's not really very efficient. So I thought I'd create one 'master' view - It's called template.php. This is the contents of the template view: <?php $view = $data['view']; $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view($view); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); ?> And then I thought I'd be able to call it from a controller like this: $data['view'] = 'homecontent'; $this->load->view('template',$data); Unfortunately I simply cannot make this work. Does anyone have any ways around this or fixes I can put into place? I've tried putting ""s and ''s around $view in template.php but that makes no difference. The usual error is "Undefined variable: data" or "Cannot load view: $view.php" etc. Thanks folks! Jack

  • django __search - trying to do x+y__search

    - by ckohrman
    I'm trying to do something like this with django: Q(x+y__search = z) I'm using __search to boolean search for a list of words within two separate lists (requiredTags, preferredTags). Line 10 is the one I have questions about. I want to see if the list of words (requTags) is found among requiredTags or preferredTags. requTags="" prefeTags="" for i in reqTags: if(i!=""): requTags+="+"+i+" " for i in prefTags: if(i!=""): prefeTags+=i+" " if(requTags!=""): query=query &( Q(requiredTags__search + preferredTags__search = requTags)) if(prefeTags!=""): query=query &( Q(requiredTags__search = prefeTags) | Q(preferredTags__search = prefeTags)) For instance: requTags might be: +beans +rice +cheese. requiredTags might be: beans,rice,tortilla preferredTags might be: cheese I didn't see any way to combine requiredTags and preferredTags in the documentation. Any help would be appreciated as I'm a beginner...

  • Get the currently saved object in a view in Django

    - by mridang
    Hi, I has a Django view which is accessed through an AJAX call. It's a pretty simple one — all it does is simply pass the request to a form object and save the data. Here's a snippet from my view: form = AddSiteForm(request.user, request.POST) if form.is_valid(): obj = form.save(commit=False) obj.user = request.user obj.save() data['status'] = 'success' data['html'] = render_to_string('site.html', locals(), context_instance=RequestContext(request)) return HttpResponse(simplejson.dumps(data), mimetype='application/json') How do I get the currently saved object (including the internally generated id column) and pass it to the template? Any help guys? Mridang

  • Django: Adding inline formset rows without javascript

    - by Brant
    This post relates to this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/520421/add-row-to-inlines-dynamically-in-django-admin Is there a way to achive adding inline formsets WITHOUT using javascript? Obviously, there would be a page-refresh involved. So, if the form had a button called 'add'... I figured I could do it like this: if request.method=='POST': if 'add' in request.POST: PrimaryFunctionFormSet = inlineformset_factory(Position,Function,extra=1) prims = PrimaryFunctionFormSet(request.POST) Which I thought would add 1 each time, then populate the form with the post data. However, it seems that the extra=1 does not add 1 to the post data.

  • Django: Summing values of records grouped by foreign key

    - by Dan0
    Hi there In django, given the following models (slightly simplified), I'm struggling to work out how I would get a view including sums of groups class Client(models.Model): api_key = models.CharField(unique=True, max_length=250, primary_key=True) name = models.CharField(unique=True, max_length=250) class Purchase(models.Model): purchase_date = models.DateTimeField() client = models.ForeignKey(SavedClient, to_field='api_key') amount_to_invoice = models.FloatField(null=True) For a given month, I'd like to see e.g. April 2010 For Each Client that purchased this month: * CLient: Name * Total amount of Purchases for this month * Total cost of purchases for this month For each Purchase made by client: * Date * Amount * Etc I've been looking into django annotation, but can't get my head around how to sum values of a field for a particular group over a particular month and send the information to a template as a variable/tag. Any info would be appreciated

  • Sort list of items in Django

    - by mridang
    Hi Guys, I have a Django view called change_priority. I'm posting a request to this view with a commas separated list of values which is basically the order of the items in my model. The data looks like this: 1,4,11,31,2,4,7 I have a model called Items which has two values - id and priority. Upon getting this post request, how can I set the priority of the Item depending upon the list order. So my data in the db would look like. 1,1 4,2 11,3 31,4 2,5 4,6 7,7 Thanks guys.

  • Django - provide additional information in template

    - by Ninefingers
    Hi all, I am building an app to learn Django and have started with a Contact system that currently stores Contacts and Addresses. C's are a many to many relationship with A's, but rather than use Django's models.ManyToManyField() I've created my own link-table providing additional information about the link, such as what the address type is to the that contact (home, work etc). What I'm trying to do is pass this information out to a view, so in my full view of a contact I can do this: def contact_view_full(request, contact_id): c = get_object_or_404(Contact, id=contact_id) a = [] links = ContactAddressLink.objects.filter(ContactID=c.id) for link in links: b = Address.objects.get(id=link.AddressID_id) a.append(b) return render_to_response('contact_full.html', {'contact_item': c, 'addresses' : a }, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) And so I can do the equivalent of c.Addresses.all() or however the ManyToManyField works. What I'm interested to know is how can I pass out information about the link in the link object with the 'addresses' : a information, so that when my template does this: {% for address in addresses %} <!-- ... --> {% endfor %} and properly associate the correct link object data with the address. So what's the best way to achieve this? I'm thinking a union of two objects might be an idea but I haven't enough experience with Django to know if that's considered the best way of doing it. Suggestions? Thanks in advance. Nf

  • Mapping table and a simple view with Fluent NHibernate

    - by adrin
    I have mapped a simple entity, let's say an invoice using Fluent NHibernate, everything works fine... after a while it turns out that very frequently i need to process 'sent invoices' (by sent invoices we mean all entities that fulfill invoice.sent==true condition)... is there a way to easily abstract 'sent invoices' in terms of my data access layer? I dont like the idea of having aforementioned condition repeated in half of my repository methods. I thought that using a simple filtering view would be optimal, but how could it be done? Maybe I am doing it terribly wrong and someone would help me realize it :)?
