  • Git: push via ssh to a root owned repository with ssh root logins disabled

    is that even possible? Summary, i'm running puppet master on a server and ideally we want root logins via ssh disabled, we want to force all access via sudo if root access required however we have puppet installed using a git repo to manage the manifests, this repo is currently owned by root and currently i only know of 2 solutions (less ideal) allow root access via key auth only - if so, what can i lock it down to to only allow the git push commands? own the repo in /etc/puppet as a different owner - will puppet work reliably with this?

  • Converting Mercurial Repository To Sub Version (SVN)

    This may seem like a very strange situation. Initially we were using subversion (SVN) for version control... then we moved to mercurial and used a tool to convert our previous commits to a mercurial form. And now we want to move back to sub version however we can't seem to find anything that will allow us to keep out history from the mercurial commits and keep them in subversion form. Does anyone know if this is possible/ how to go about doing it? Thanks!!

  • Is this a pattern? Proxy/delegation of interface to existing concrete implementation

    I occasionally write code like this when I want to replace small parts of an existing implementation: public interface IFoo { void Bar(); } public class Foo : IFoo { public void Bar() { } } public class ProxyFoo : IFoo { private IFoo _Implementation; public ProxyFoo(IFoo implementation) { this._Implementation = implementation; } #region IFoo Members public void Bar() { this._Implementation.Bar(); } #endregion } This is a much smaller example than the real life cases in which I've used this pattern, but if implementing an existing interface or abstract class would require lots of code, most of which is already written, but I need to change a small part of the behaviour, then I will use this pattern. Is this a pattern or an anti pattern? If so, does it have a name and are there any well known pros and cons to this approach? Is there a better way to achieve the same result? Rewriting the interfaces and/or the concrete implementation is not normally an option as it will be provided by a third party library.

  • Using the promote builds plugin to tag subversion repository in jenkins

    We have a task which builds based on data from 4 different SVN repositories. I want to allow QA promote a build, so that the revisions participating in the build are tagged with the build number and some optional label. I have encountered the following problem - the promoted build may not be the most recent build. How do I know the SVN revision of each of the four repositories used during that build? I know that each build has this information in the revision.txt and build.xml files associated with the build, but how does it become available in the context of promotion? Thanks. P.S.   • Cannot dump svn repository

    I've a problem with my svn repo. I cannot use it, I even cannot dump it. svnadmin verify repo returns Can't set position pointer in file 'svn/db/revs/0/0' When I try to dump repo (no matter what revision range), console output shows: * Dumped revision 0. svnadmin: Final line in revision file missing space I've googled that this may be connected with wrong version apr apache2 library, but I have other repositories which work good, so I thing this isn't the case. Is there any way to save at least some files from my repo? Can svn repo get corrupted so easily (probably after power-cut, however I'm not sure).

    I am trying to setup GitHub on my server and gotten to the point where I am running the command "git push -u origin master". However, a large file was detected and the following error was received: remote: error: GH001: Large files detected. remote: error: Trace: 5520a70fd2eeaa2eafd7de049a590fb5 remote: error: See http://git.io/iEPt8g for more information. remote: error: File app/logs/dev.log is 2041.59 MB; this exceeds GitHub's file size limit of 100 MB I ended up deleting that file and tried adding the git again but I keep running into that error. Any ideas on how to work around this?

    I have a DAO that I'm trying to inject into a couple different places: @Repository public class FooDAO { @Autowired private HibernateManager sessionFactory; @PostConstruct public void doSomeDatabaseStuff() throws DataAccessException { ... } } And my application-context.xml is a fairly simple context:component-scan: <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:context="http://www.springframework.org/schema/context" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-2.0.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/context http://www.springframework.org/schema/context/spring-context-2.5.xsd" default-init-method="init" default-destroy-method="destroy"> <context:component-scan base-package="top.level"/> </beans> The DAO is accessed from a couple servlets in my application server through @Autowired properties. As far as I understand, anything annotated with @Repository should default to being a singleton and thus doSomeDatabaseStuff() should only be called once (as is my intention). The problem is that I'm seeing doSomeDatabaseStuff() called multiple times. What's going on here? Have I set something up incorrectly? I'm using spring 3.0.0. Thanks for the help.

  • SubSonic 3.0 Simple Repository Adding a DateTime Property To An Object

    I am trying out SubSonic to see if it is viable to use on production projects. I seem to have stumbled upon an issue whith regards to updating the database with default values (String and DateTime) when a new column is created. If a new property of DateTime or String is added to an object. public class Bug { public int BugId { get; set; } public string Title { get; set; } public string Overview { get; set; } public DateTime TrackedDate { get; set; } public DateTime RemovedDate { get; set; } } When the code to add that type of object to the database is run var repository = new SimpleRepository(SimpleRepositoryOptions.RunMigrations); repository.Add(new Bug() { Title = "A Bug", Overview = "An Overview", TrackedDate = DateTime.Now }); it creates the following sql: UPDATE Bugs SET RemovedDate=''01/01/1900 00:00:00'' For some reason it is adding double 2 single quotes to each end of the string or DateTime. This is causing the following error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException - Incorrect syntax near '01' I am connecting to SQL Server 2005 Any help would be appreicated as apart from this issue i am finding SubSonic to be a great product. So <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring</artifactId> <version>3.1.2</version> </dependency> in the dependencies tag i added the above code. It is saying as below unable to find jars from the repositories (local and as well as remote) it gave suggestion to execute the command mvn install -artifactid=springframework (something like this) but when i mentioned version as 2.5.6 it correctly take. is it the problem with the version 3.1.2 is unavailable at maven repository. how to get the latest versions if maven is not working properly for latest versions. It also gave me the suggestion to go for manually download and put in local repository

  • Repository layout and sparse checkouts

    My team is considering to move from Clearcase to Subversion and we are thinking of organising the repository like this: \trunk\project1 \trunk\project2 \trunk\project3 \trunk\staticlib1 \trunk\staticlib2 \trunk\staticlib3 \branches\.. \tags\.. The issue here is that we have lots of projects (1000+) and each project is a dll that links in several common static libraries. Therefore checking out everything in trunk is a non-starter as it will take way too long (~2 GB), and is unwieldy for branching. Using svn:externals to pull out relevant folders for each project doesn't seem ideal because it results in several working copies for each static library folder. We also cannot do an atomic commit if the changes span the project and some static libraries. Sparse checkouts sounds very suitable for this as we can write a script to pull out only the required directories. However when we want to merge changes from a branch back to the trunk we will need to first check out a full trunk. Wonder if there is some advice on 1) a better repository organization or 2) a way to merge over branch changes to a trunk working copy that is sparse?

  • Help renaming svn repository

    Here is the deal: I created an SVN repository, say, foo. It is at http://www.example.com/foo. Then I did an svn checkout. I made some updates and changes to my local copy of the code over the week. I haven't committed yet. I realized that I wanted to rename the repository. So I did this: svn copy http://example.com/foo http://example.com/bar svn delete http://example.com/foo I finish my changes (and local svn still thinks I'm working under "foo".) svn commit fails because the repo has been renamed. I try to use svn switch --relocate but it yells at me because svn is awful. I try using the script here to replace "foo" with "bar" in my billion .svn/ folders. This replace is taking a long time. I wonder if something hung? Or maybe sshfs failed? I kill it. Ctrl-C. I look and see that half my files have "foo" and the others have "bar" in the URLs in the sundry .svn/ folders. All I want to do is commit my files with the new name. I could re-checkout the branch, but then I have no way to remember which files I changed, which is why I was using version control in the first place, and svn is so godawful at moving and renaming things. What do I need to do to: Have a "clean" copy of my "bar" svn branch? and, most importantly: Commit the changes I made?

  • Android Quick Actions UI Pattern

I'd like to implement this but I cannot find an API to help me out or some sample code.     I need a regex pattern which matches such strings that DO NOT end with such a sequence: \.[A-z0-9]{2,} by which I mean the examined string must not have at its end a sequence of a dot and then two or more alphanumeric characters. For example, a string /home/patryk/www and also /home/patryk/www/ should match desired pattern and /home/patryk/images/DSC002.jpg should not. I suppose this has something to do with lookarounds (look aheads) but still I have no idea how to make it. Any help appreciated.
