  • Select rows in random order and then reverse it

    I need to select rows in random order and return a query which holds the rows in both regular order and in reverse order. This is done to simulate a fantasy draft for a basketball game I'm working on. For example, I need a result set as followed: team1 1 team2 2 team6 3 team9 4 team9 5 team6 6 team2 7 team1 8 As you can see, the first four teams are random then then following four are in reverse order. Hope I managed to explain the problem, if not - please comment and I'll explain further.

  • Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Freezes Frequently

    Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on my Macbook Pro freezes quite frequently now. It freezes for few seconds and then works fine. During that time trackpad does not work and keyboard works partially (missing keystrokes while I type). Initially it was once or twice in a day but now it has become quite frequent. Is somebody else facing similar issue?

I have an executable (PE) file that load a dll file as represented in the Import table... let say: PEFile.exe Modules.dll my question is how can i remove Modules.dll's import_descriptor from the imports and do its work by loadLibrary without the rely on the import table and without destroy the file???... My bigger problem his i could not understand exactly how the Import thing works... after the loader read the information he needs to do the import's thing, i believe he use the LoadLibrary, GetProcAddress APIs... but i couldn't understated what he doing with the pointers he get... he putting them somewhere in memory... and then what just call them?!? all the papers i found in the net explain the structure of the import table, but i didn't found a paper that explain how it is really work and get used... i hope you cold understand my Gibberish English... Thank you!

  • Virtual Machine for software renting service

    I am currently trying to figure out which solution would be best for software renting service (with proper licensing and stuff). I know its kinda stupid and so on, but I just have to develop it. Long story short - user can connect to a virtual machine (with windows guest os) using vnc and use some specific software for some specific time (eg., 1 hour). I have already considered VirtualBox, Xen and some other, but maybe somebody has a better idea. Thanks.

  • How to add indexes to MySQL tables?

    I've got a very large MySQL table with about 150,000 rows of data. Currently, when I try and run SELECT * FROM table WHERE id = '1'; the code runs fine as the ID field is the primary index. However, recently for a development in the project, I have to search the database by another field. For example SELECT * FROM table WHERE product_id = '1'; This field was not previously indexed, however, I've added it as an index but when I try to run the above query, the results is very slow. An EXPLAIN query reveals that there is no index for the product_id field when I've already added one and as a result the query takes any where from 20 minutes to 30 minutes to return a single row.     So I was reading http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-4.1.0/gcc/Atomic-Builtins.html, and came across this: type __sync_and_and_fetch (type *ptr, type value, ...) type __sync_xor_and_fetch (type *ptr, type value, ...) type __sync_nand_and_fetch (type *ptr, type value, ...) These builtins perform the operation suggested by the name, and return the new value. That is, { *ptr op= value; return *ptr; } { *ptr = ~*ptr & value; return *ptr; } // nand Is this code literal? or is it just to explain what gcc is doing atomically using c-like syntax? And if this is the direct translation, can someone explain how it is atomic?

  • How to/syntax to checkout several modules by release tag names in Hudson

    Hi all, Under Hudson, does somebody know how to specify a release tag name in a cvs checkout ? At the moment, i only specify the CVSROOT and modules names to checkout my project in my workspace. I tried to add '-r TAG_NAME' for each module name, but it doesn't work. I think that this functionality exist, so if someone as the right syntax/way to do it.. :) Thanks in advance for your help.   • Bridging two wireless interfaces with brctl?

    I have this topology: [internet] ^ L-------[wlan0]-[host]-[wlan1]-----[client-1] I tried to bridge wlan0 wlan1 but it wont work with brctl; but magically when I issue this command #iw set dev wlan0 4addr on it adds wlan0 to the bridge BUT I lost all internet connection and I was unable to hook it to the internet router. can somebody please explain why did that happen and is there a way to get this done ?

  • Does Windows 7 deleted files generated during hibernation?

    Somebody was using my Windows 7 and she hibernated it instead of shutting down. Later, I booted up Ubuntu and moved about 2GB worth of files from the Ubuntu partition to the Windows partition. After booting up Windows (from hibernation), I couldn't find any of the files. Then I restarted the PC, and the files showed for a second or two and then disappeared. Did Windows delete all the files I put on it while it was hibernating?

    If somebody is using some kind of proxy server to connect to the internet, does their computer connects to the ISP first and then to the proxy server, or does it connect to the proxy server first and then to the ISP? Some of my friends are able to get free internet on their mobile using some Proxy servers. I am not asking you for free internet, I am only asking you how this would be possible. How are they are able to trick the ISP firewall?
